I'm sure no one would disagree with you. But for a smaller dev team they would probably have to sacrifice something else, like new features, just to make a new version. GSG doesn't have Rockstar-numbers of devs. It would be a nice-to-have thing for the handful of people who can buy a new console right now, but it would probably mean the actual gameplay updates would take a lot longer for everyone

I would guess that if they find the time and resources to do it, they would look into it. So maybe it happens eventually, but at this time there are no plans to do so

Locked fps signals optimization opportunity usually. Games on Series X, for example, work no patch and unlocked frames run a lot better.

@wraith compass i borked my Microsoft save and I can't seem to remove the .sav extension from the steam save so i copied the text and pasted it in the unused save and any time i load it I have to play the tutorial and then the save gets remade. does the save need more than the text in the file to work.

@dusk ridge If you do not have file extensions shown it can be hard to make sure you're getting the file names exactly right.

• Click on the Windows Start Menu.
• Type "file explorer options" into the search bar (or if search bar is hidden, just start typing after clicking the Start Menu)
• On the View tab of the File Explorer Options, make sure you uncheck the box labeled "Hide extensions for known file types" and click "Apply"
• You should now see the file extensions on the names of the files and you should be able to edit them as needed

If you're messing with file extensions you best know what you're doing. Windows has some protections in place, but like most man made software it'll do exactly what you tell it to.

It does ask if you're changing the extension intentionally and warn that things might not work correctly if the extension gets changed. And I'm pretty sure it does that every time. That's all you can really do besides locking things down so users have less control of their systems

Hi, this week's Deep Dives Elite is my first, I wanted to know if they're all as hard as her? Because I absolutely can not succeed :(

@peak stag The Elite Deep Dives are the pretty much the hardest thing you can do in DRG. It's not a bad idea to practice regular missions on Hazard 5 difficulty, but even that won't perfectly prepare you for the Elite Deep Dives. As you earn perk points and unlock new perks and higher levels of perks, those small bonuses can make a noticeable difference in your survivability. Without many perks and upgrades, the Elite Deep Dives are incredibly difficult.

Even with all the perks, upgrades, and weapon overclocks they are still a challenge, and while it is possible to beat them solo or in a 2-person team, I highly recommend taking at least a 3-person team for the combination of tools each can provide

Rock and Stone, miner! Congratulations! The tons of resupply on the last stage happens to us all the time. At that point we all just call in whenever we feel like it, just to top up grenades or tool ammo or something. It takes the edge off the final stage when you can do that

And yeah, the Elite Deep Dives are no joke. You need teammates who will communicate and are somewhat self-reliant. There isn't a lot of room for mistakes

Supposedly the stages increase in difficultly. I've seen it said that the first stage is at Hazard 4.5, the middle stage is at Hazard 5, and the final stage is at Hazard 5.5. I don't know how that was determined, perhaps it's been mentioned by the devs. All I know is that if I see Macter Plague or Shield Disruption, I know I'm in for a wild time

The waves of enemies just get harder the longer you are in an aquarq stage

Get enough nitra to call in at least one resupply, two if you can manage it, and then do the crate. After the crate is done, knock out the aquarq

No problem at all! Just remember, it's the hardest challenge in the game and you're allowed to attempt it before you've gotten many perks and many upgrades. Perks and upgrades do make a difference, and they allow you to tweak the class to play more the way you want to play them. And even with all the perks, all the upgrades, all the overclocks, and hundreds of hours of play time, my friends and I still find Elite Deep Dives to be a challenge and we still fail occasionally

Knock out the secondary as quick as possible in Deep Dive aquarq stages

You can always grab aquarq on the move while staying a step or two ahead of the bugs, especially as scout

I am playing DRG on gamepass on PC and have an issue where Double pressing "C" on keyboard or double pressing "Y" on Controller pops up with this "invite friends" to game menu from xbox but uses a different interface then say gamebar. Does anyone have a solution to disable this?

I don't believe there is a way to rebind the Invite Friends buttons. And I don't believe there is a way to disable that pop-up at the system level either. I occasionally manage to hit C, but it hasn't been too much of a problem to look into disabling it

It happens to me in mission to the point that it sometimes disconnects or closes the app for some reason and I end up in the space rig at the bottom of the lauch bay for some reason.

It's sounds unrelated but it's not as it as occurred multiple times.

I don't even know why that invite friends system interface even exist anymore. It wouldn't be so bad if it used gamebar.

It take a few seconds to load and messes with fullscreen for me (that could be because I use HDR on windows) and is exceptionally difficult to properly cancel it with controller input. Especially if it happens in mission.

I don't believe game bar was a thing yet, so it's part of the older interface, but also I suspect it's part of the framework for multiplayer on a Windows Store game. I imagine that the devs could disable the key binding or allow users to change the key binding, but I don't think I've seen it reported as an issue too much so it's probably not on their radar

Do you think there is a way to access an input settings file on for the gamepass version? May it can be disable there? I only have this issue with DRG as I tried to re-create it with SoD2 and it doesn't use that interface/ key bind.

I'm not sure. It may be hardcoded, but if not I'm not sure how you could edit the keybinds outside of the game

Games on the Windows Store do not install like other games. Microsoft likes to obfuscate all of that stuff, and I'm not sure if anyone has looked into editing a config file or similar. I haven't tried or seen anything about opening or editing the save files, so I'm not sure if key binds are stored there or somewhere else

After playing with this for hours XD. I think what am experiencing may be a bug (IDK the trigger) because as you stated earlier it shouldn't happen in missions and now I can't re-create the problem so far is testing. I know it happen to me at the end of Escort mission just today. I am starting to learn towards game-bar as when I had the issue yesterday using the "Invite party to game" button in game bar I SOMEHOW ended up launching a second instance of the game and I was in space rig and that is where the guy trying to join ended up with me (While me and 2 other were mid-mission).

Yeah, I've seen similar before as well. Hopefully it gets sorted. Thing is, right before the game went on game pass it got a major overhaul and a full replacement of the UWP framework for the newer PlayFab framework. I don't think you used to be able to open multiple instances before that update. That update changed some much of the internal workings that it's no surprise a few odd things are able to happen now. The stability multiplayer joinability seems to be greatly improved by that update, but, as with all software, any changes at all often cause other things to not necessarily work, sometime unexpectedly. I'm sure they'll get it fixed up before too long

Microsoft used to require that all apps released on the Windows Store be built using their UWP framework. This included DRG when it was first released a few years ago. About a year or so ago, Microsoft removed the UWP requirement. DRG uses the Unreal Engine, and the devs used a third-party plugin for Unreal Engine to allow them to build the UWP version of DRG. At some point (probably because UWP was no longer required by Microsoft), the third-party Unreal-to-UWP plugin was no longer being updated or maintained for new versions of the Unreal Engine.

A while ago, DRG needed to move to a new version of the Unreal Engine, and at that point, since the Unreal-to-UWP plug in was no longer being updated, unpredictable and hard-to-reproduce bugs got introduced into the Xbox and Windows versions of DRG. (It should be noted that the Steam version never used DRG and so never had these specific issues.) These bugs cause crashes, failure to join, and frequent disconnections for many players, but not all. I had very few problems while for others the game was almost unable to be played, let alone enjoyed.

Unfortunately, finding and fixing the issues was slow if not impossible because the devs also encountered very few of the issues themselves. The best solution was to completely remove the UWP framework (since it was ultimately the root cause of so many of the issues) and replace it with something newer called PlayFab. This was a ton of work, but there was pretty much no other way to really fix the issues.

All of this work resulted in an update that we've been calling Update 31.5, and it seems like all the hard work was worth it. The few issues I was having are pretty much completely gone, and I haven't really seen the same kinds of reports and complaints others used to mention in here.

More recent issues seem generally less severe than before, and the devs have said there's some plugin updates that should improve things even further going forward

They spawn randomly. I believe they all have at least a little bit of glow to make them easier to spot, but they can be tucked away in hard to find places similar to the secondary objectives like boolo caps and fossils

i give up, i put the teredo stuff in gpedit.msc back to defaults, it just comes back as teredo is unable to qualify, and server connectivity is blocked :/

Hey guys I had a crashing issue yesterday similar to what your describing and I can layout what caused it and how I fixed it. Basically on launch the game asked to bypass firewall for fsd-wingdk-shipping.exe, I thought this was slightly suspicious but after some googling I decided to allow it. Immediately afterward my game crashed and continued doing so until I manually removed that application from my firewall bypass list and the haven't crashed since. Hope this could help someone

Actually I have a little more information

Following the first time I launched the game and accepted the bypass request, the following happened in order. The game loaded in showed me an empty server list, I attempted a relaunch and crashed immediately. I did not attempt to relaunch again because windows store launcher displayed "error" on the games splash page. There was a button labeled "more information" or something similar that did nothing when pressed. The launcher downloaded some 810-820 ish MB file, I don't recall if this was automatic or if I initiated it somehow. Afterward the game launched and once again asked for the same bypass, this time I chose decline and the game loaded normally.

You could just disable your firewall and do a quick test if your not doing anything else that could put you at risk

Also if you have an AV with a firewall built-in I would make sure you make appropriate changes there

But again maybe this was just super isolated and just my machine, don't go breaking anything if you don't know what your doing.

Yes, an update came out yesterday. It include Hotfix 9 and some miscellaneous fixes that I think are specific to the Windows Store and Xbox versions

Not being able to earn any progress on the milestone achievements is new, but their progress does reset from time to time. Meaning you wouldn't be able to see the progress until you make it back up to where you were before @slow haven

For some reason I can't get Discord to detect Deep Rock Galactic(Gamepass). I can add it manually, but none of the Game features work that way. Any suggestions?

The Windows Store and Xbox version do not have the same level of Discord integration as the Steam version does. Discord should show you playing Deep Rock Galactic, but that's about it. I don't think it gets any rich presence details. You can link your Xbox account to Discord, but I do not think that provides additional functionality

Sorry if this is the wrong way to follow up, new to discord as of today. A couple updates rolled out onto Xbox in the last week or so and that’s when it seems like the progress stopped tracking, or reset for a handful of the achievements. From what I can tell, collecting gold chunks, bitter gems, and alien artifacts all reset as my progress hasn’t moved. I’m guessing it won’t update until I exceed where the progress left off pre-update. Seems like 100 solo missions and 50 mules reset. Oddly enough, it seems like the 500 missions did not reset.

Anyone looking to do the 4 player achievements with the silicate harvester/cheers at the bar? I’ll be online off and on throughout the week and willing to join a group if one gets going. Gt: Son Goku 03

Very possible prior to the new escort and onsite refining missions. I imagine it's still possible with onsite refining as that one seems easier to rush than escort. That being said, I'm sure someone out there can pull it off with enough effort

Yeah I gave it a try with this weeks dive and it just seemed like there was no way to rush the driller escort which chewed up a good 30 minutes (at least)

I'm not a game programmer, but even with all of the achievement bugs I can still see my actual missions completed/solo missions/etc by opening the computer to check milestones. When we load into the game, is there not a way you can just perform a check and then unlock any "pending" achievements without relying on an actual mission completion to increment the stat?
