There's no official mod support on the Microsoft version, unfortunately. I know some folks have used mods for the version, but they are not officially supported so it's all at your own risk. That's about all that can be said about it here

The only achievements that would transfer are the ones that are based on progression, like earning gold promotions for all four dwarves. Progression-based achievements should show up as soon as the the check gets updated, so for the gold promotions you might need to complete one promotion to get the achievement check to occur and grant the achievement. If you've passed the threshold for these types of achievements, they should update and unlock after a few missions.

Many achievements are not progression-based. These award the achievement when the triggering event occurs, but do not save the fact that you've completed the achievement. So, achievements like the barrel hoop mini-game or putting every barrel in the drop pod only get updated each time you complete the achievement, but the fact that you've completed it before is not saved in the save file. These types of achievements will have to be completed all over again to unlock them

I want to get 4 people playing DRG in my house tonight. I have 2 PCs and an XBOX. I can get another XBOX, but I'm not sure how everyone is going to play at the same time. I know DRG comes with game pass, but I'm guessing you can't have more than one game-pass copy running. Can I purchase an individual copy for each console even if they are on the same family plan, using the same game-pass for multiplayer?

The Windows Store version is locked to using DX12 as it's essentially the same version as Xbox and Xbox is required to use DX12. Some graphics cards do not support DX12. This could explain the issue you're encountering

I would be surprised if that didn't support DX12, but it might be down to a driver issue. I know you've already reinstalled the drivers, but it appears that something is going on only when you run in DX12. I'd check other games that use DX12 to see if the problem persists, and then try to work out why DX12 is causing issues. Unfortunately, it's not possible to run DRG from the Windows Store in anything but DX12 mode

There are tools to fully uninstall graphics drivers, to make sure that when you install again it's clean and correct. I'd lean towards it being a graphics driver issue, personally, based on what you've said. DDU by wagnardsoft is highly recommended, but you should always research any software before running it on your PC, and never use anything you don't trust.
If it were me, I'd consider downloading the graphics drivers from the laptop manufacturer's website, then look at using DDU to fully uninstall the current drivers, and then I'd reinstall from the download. Then, I'd test to see if things are working as expected before updating any drivers. I can't say this will fix anything, but it's what I'd look into trying

I can't speak in detail about those error messages, but one seems like the graphics device became unavailable, and the other sounds like something tried to read a memory address that could not be accessed (for any number of reasons). I'd expect if it were hardware issues, you'd encounter it in other situations, and either way I can't begin to say why RDR2 with DX12 works fine when other games don't. It's possible DRG uses DX12 in a different way than RDR2 does

Very, very little chance. Not only would the devs have to devote a ton of time and resources to developing that, it would change how development would have to be done going forward, making things more difficult to continue working on DRG. Also, the Steam version would need a downgrade to even be compatible, as it has a few more (or more advanced) features than the console versions -- it's incompatible as it currently is, and before even discussing how you get accounts on different platforms to talk to each other for multiplayer

bro, I know that, but I mean real optimization, the game on Xbox Series S has a very unstable framerate that drops even at 40fps, in performance mode which has dynamic resolution, on my pc (which has a lower cpu and gpu than the Xbox Series S) the game runs with much better performance, so the game should run better.

If you're on a console, you'll probably need to do a full reboot, not just turn it off and on again

The console doesn't actually reset when you just turn it off, it maintains a connection to the Xbox servers. You'll need to force it to reestablish a connection. You could try logging out and logging back in as well

In my experience, the only reason DLC won't show up in-game is if the license for them is not validated by the Xbox servers. So your system seems to not be talking to the Xbox servers correctly

I don't know how to fix it on an Xbox either. Maybe resetting your connection? All I know is that if things are working correctly, you should have access to your cloud save files via the in-game Restore Save feature (go to the in-game Options, then Save Menu, then Restore Save, then choose a save file to restore), and your DLC should be available. DRG does not have its own servers for saves/DLC access, all of that is handled by using the Xbox servers

I woke up this morning and the first thing I did before even taking a shower was buy the Supporter Pack II and equip the goodies to my liking, completely worth it. I can't think of any other game that deserves my time more than DRG, and my money as well, having played almost 2K hours and bought every single DLC over the years I can say this is still my #1 favorite game. I hope we get a Supporter Pack III in another 5 years (or less?), I'm really curious what a Supporter Leaf Lovers would look like. Whoever did the Oily Oaf Supporter deserves a raise, it looks epic like the weapon frameworks.

There are cloud saves by default, and the devs have spent a lot of time making sure they work, so if they aren't available I'm sure they'd like to know so it doesn't happen to anyone else. You not having cloud saves at all would be a bug (unless you've turned off cloud saves, I'm not sure if that's possible on console). Your cloud saves not being accessible would be an Xbox network issue.

I'll say this, for no reason at all, one day about a month or two ago my progress was wiped. I went in to the Restore Save feature in-game (Options menu, then Save Menu, the Restore Save), and was able to restore from the cloud save that got made at the end of the last time I had played. No progress lost. If you have a different experience, it is a bug. And if you haven't checked again today, your saves might be in the cloud and available.

Furthermore, there was an update today, so it's certainly worth checking again if things are behaving differently after the update. It may be that nothing has changed, but the game is incredibly small to download so it won't take much time to check

I suspect a lot of folks do Deep Dives privately, to facilitate more robust communication and have an idea of who their Diving with for the next 3 missions since it's a bit of a time commitment and somewhat of a challenge

As for regular missions, my friend and I often get a full group shortly after starting a mission, but sometimes not. After having full groups for every other mission today, no one joined us on our Escort mission at the end of our session, haha

It should just automatically sync your save file. Then you can manually copy it to the Steam save file location and rename it so it works on Steam. Like all updates, it came out for the Steam version first, and only came out today. It'll be at least a good handful of business days before we get the update ourselves. A good rule of thumb is to give it about two weeks, but it's never set in stone (or rock) because the devs will get it to us as fast as they can

It does seem to be, at least for some people. I can't speak from personal experience, but there are moments where I can notice some slowdown occasionally on a pretty decent PC. DRG really makes the hardware work in specific situations

I don't think that's possible to change it, it's not one of those games that does the crossgen logic like Activision or EA does where you can choose which version to download, this is one of those games where it just does it automatically based on which console you are playing on.

So, I have a problem I have just recently discovered on my end.
The moment the 5th anniversary edition update arrived, the day I begun playing it, I have lost progress each time. Several hours just gone into the thin air.
It isn't by all means the worst problem unlike others where you lose everything, but for me, it is like I get "roll-back" before the update even arrived.
Assignments reset, perks and equipment upgrades lost, resources gained, lost, etc.

I went on to the "restore saves" section, and I made a new one to not override my main save, and imported todays version, and I have indeed the same save of 27th February.

It is just weird to me, but also draining to the fact you lose or gain no progress after a mission.
I am glad that I did not do a Deep Delve.

Anyone else having a similar fate like me, or I am the unlucky one? lol

Edit: I can recreate this every single time to show it. Just by restarting the game, I have lost everything I have done the moment I end the gaming session.

It started being really slow after the anniversary update.
(loads in about the same speed but is laggy enough to take me from mediocre to just bad)
Since it hasn't been very long, it's possible that it's something else on my end maybe, but not sure what it could be.

Randomly during a mission, the framerate and performance dipped to 25 frames and had to switch it to low settings just to finish. Happened only one other time where it fixed itself with no known causes. If it helps, if I looked at the on site refinery, my fps dropped by 40 frames.

DRG is one of those games where I feel like crossplay across all platforms including Steam would be a massive win. Though I know that'd be tricky to implement cause the console versions have differences in things like map generation compared to Steam.

And Steam also has mod support and the barely-a-feature Miner's Union. So there are several functional differences, but they're not that major (depending on your feelings about mods, I suppose). Still, they would prevent cross-platform functionality without a good bit of work (and a downgrade in the Steam version which I doubt Steam folks would appreciate).
Also, there is no way for accounts on the different platforms to talk to each other, so, even if the various versions were identical, cross-play couldn't just be enabled easily. Each version uses its platform's networking functionality to enable multiplayer; a whole new system would have to be set up to facilitate cross-platform functionality.
It would also complete change how the devs have to approach continuing the development of DRG. All platforms with cross-platform functionality would have to be updated at the same time to maintain the functionality. That would complicate and slow down development, at the very least.
Long story short, it will most likely never happen for a bunch of reasons combined

Such a tough call, for me. Engineer's shotgun, maybe, just because it's one of the only times an in-game shotgun feels like a real shotgun (without artificial damage dropoff after a few meters). It's such a lovely change of pace to so many shooters...

I think what helped the weapons feel good in the game especially is just the fact that instead of having loads of weapons to choose from that all feel same-y or are harder to balance. We have less choices, but those choices are more meaningful, and also have way more varied customization with how you kit them out.

I played Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands last year. And there's a ton of guns in that game, with a ton of different stats. But there's like one "right" gun, because it has the best stats. Pretty much all the rest then are just relegated to cluttering up the inventory. It's a very different kind of game, though, going for realism and there's some value in that for folks who are into that, but fun space guns are simply more fun to me, haha

Too many feel the same with too little difference, so you just end up using like 1 or two that are the best and that's it. Which is lame. There's instructions for how to move a save file between the Microsoft version and the Steam version in the Pinned Messages in this channel. The save files are generally compatible (when versions don't match sometimes this doesn't work). This is all considered an unofficial feature, so other than the instructions on how to do it, there isn't any additional support for this here.

I can't speak to trying to edit the save files, that's something I'm not aware of people having success with (but I've not looked into it at all) and it can't really be discussed in this channel since modding is not officially supported for the Microsoft version of DRG

I'll admit, I never use it cause typing on controller just sucks, it's so slow, I don't have a USB keyboard either that I can just plug in. So I pretty much just use the ping tool if not using my mic. It probably doesn't help that this game has things like ambient waves, so I'd rather focus on getting nitra, doing objectives, etc before more swarms of enemies come in. Typing on controller is too slow and sucks up a lot of time and then it leads to swarms causing problems long term when I could of just been more productive myself instead. If a leech grabs me I just use mic cause it's faster, sometimes while trying to type it out on controller it takes too long, especially if the teammates are nearby.

There is no real official content missing, and no DLC is missing. All content is the same on all platforms, Steam simply tends to get updates slightly earlier than elsewhere.

The Steam version has official mod support, slightly more complex cave generation, and the Miner's Unions feature (which doesn't have any gameplay content to it, it just provides a handful of extra credits and minerals about once a month. It's barely a feature), but the actual, official content is the same everywhere.

Man… I have had this issue myself and SEVERAL friends have had it as well. I’m practically stumped. Something is wrong with the Microsoft Store because any game, including this one, installed on the windows store has horrible frame drops and freezing problems, when those same games run on steam do not. Has anyone found a solution for this? All Google tells me is to reinstall drivers and yaddah yaddah. That’s clearly not the issue here.

No issue at all: there is no manual save option. It auto-saves after you finish a mission, or spend credits/minerals, or change class/cosmetics.
The Save Menu is for recovering a cloud save backup in case something goes wrong with your local save file

I've not seen a many reports of similar, so I would guess it's something with your PC. If it only happened while playing multiplayer and not hosting, I might chalk it up a bad network connection on your end or the host's end. But even that would be a stretch as that's not exactly how issues usually go with the way this game does networking

It sounds as though something might be occasionally using a good bit of your CPU for a second or two, and that's causing the game to be unresponsive. This is just a guess based on what you've said and the fact that there's not really any other reports of this happening for others

See that was my thought initially, sometimes voicemeeter will eat up loads of CPU but I've monitored it and not seeing anything and these lag periods can last several minutes, the game itself only using 35% cpu

That's bizarre and of course quite frustrating. I can safely say that I've not seen others mention it, so it at least doesn't seem like it's specific to the game in some way. You might want to check for GPU driver updates. I know there was a faulty update for Nvidia somewhat recently which was artificially limiting performance, and they had to offer a patch which was a little hard to find as it seemed to only be available from their support section, I think

It is an unofficial feature, and while it is officially recognized, it is not explicitly supported and occasionally it just doesn't seem to work.

It seems to break more so going from Steam to Microsoft, as you're trying to do now. Often this happens when the Steam version being on a newer build than the Microsoft version, but I believe we're on the same build at the moment.

All I can suggest is deleting the Microsoft save file, then rebooting the PC, then launch the Microsoft version and get back to the space rig. Maybe tip Lloyd so it is forced to make a save file, then exit. Copy the Steam save into the Microsoft folder, and rename it to the Microsoft save name (with no extension, file type should be "File"). Then, cross your fingers, give it a launch, and see what happens.

If it doesn't work, you should be able to restore your Microsoft save from the in-game Options menu. Go to Options, Save Menu, Restore Save. That should let you restore a cloud save. It won't be up-to-date with your Steam progress, of course, but you could at least then play with friends on Xbox with from wherever your previous progress left off. Better than nothing, at least...

If you install the Microsoft Store version (it's a Play Anywhere title, so if you own it on Xbox you own it on the Microsoft Store as well), it should automatically load your cloud save. If it doesn't automatically load your cloud save, you can go to the in-game Options menu, select Save Menu, select Restore Save, and load on of your cloud backups.

There is no automatic progress transfer to Steam if you're looking to move to that version. However, you can use the above procedure to get your save file onto PC, and then you can manually copy your save file to the Steam version using the instructions in the Pinned Messages in this channel.

As for how the Steam version compares? Content is the same on all versions, but Steam supports slightly more complex cave generation. And the Steam version also has official mod support. The Steam version also gets updates first. The mod support is really the only significant difference in my opinion.

In general I recommend people go with the version that their friends are on first, and if that doesn't factor in too much go with the Steam version

  • Sometimes logging out of your account on the Xbox App, rebooting, and then trying to launch DRG (it should force you to sign in) can shake things loose.
  • Check Xbox Networking (click the start menu, type "xbox networking" without the quotes). There is the option to "Fix it" that you can try.
  • Can also try Resetting and/or Repairing "Gaming Services" (found in the Apps section of Windows Settings).

I’m an Xbox player who just got the game through game pass and completed the tutorial. I have a friend who’s had the game for a couple months (also on Xbox) We’ve been trying to join eachother’s lobbies but had no luck.

I have an option to press Y and invite friends to a lobby but after pressing Y nothing pops up or happens. My friend CAN send an invite to me but when I accept, I get a “joining” window which lasts forever. When we create a server, we are unable to find each other on the server list.

We’ve tried restarting the game and reinstalling. The game looks great and I really want to play with friends but I’ve seen other posts from the past that suggest this issue still needs fixing?

does your friend have game pass or gold pass? because you need at least gold pass to play with others players

Depending on what Nat type you have, it could be what's preventing from connecting with others. One more thing, can you both join others while playing deep rock galactic? Or is it just affecting your ability to join each other?

Is the Roller Coaster achievement available on the Xbox version or just the PC version?

Clarification: I looked for it & couldn't find it, but I'm curious if it's hidden or just not there.

From memory that achievement is hidden for pc, I would assume it's the same for consoles
