Yep, the Xbox App works as well. I tend to use Game Bar because it usually works pretty well

And Game Bar makes it easy to launch the game first, load in until you're in the Space Rig, and then use Game Bar to join a friend. Doing it that way used to be necessary, so I've not tried if doing it from the Xbox App works just as well

The Xbox version is required to use DirectX 12. It's possible that you're using DirectX 11 on Steam, and the flickering could be related to DirectX 12. You could try updating your graphics card drivers and see if it helps

Open File Explorer Options.
On the View tab, make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked.
Click Apply.
This will enable you to see and easily edit the file extension (in this case ".sav") on the end of file names

In general, you need to make sure that the file name AND file extension of the file you want to use exactly matches the file you're replacing. See my previous message a few posts above yours if you need to turn on the ability to see and easily edit the file extensions

I can't say with any certainty if that is an issue or not, but I can say that I spoke with one other person who said the transfer was not working for them, and they had used mods. No idea if that is causing it to not work for folks, but it seems to me that it could be possible

If you have:

• made a new save file in the Microsoft version
• copied your Steam save to the Microsoft save folder
• copied the Microsoft save file name (no file extension)
• removed/renamed the Microsoft file
• renamed the Steam file to the copied Microsoft name (again, with no file extension, file type should show as "FILE")

it should just work. If it doesn't work, I'm not sure what else you can do, unfortunately. The save transfer is an unofficial feature: it is not explicitly intentional and it is not guaranteed to always work. Since mods support is built into the Steam version and mod support can affect saves (as far as I'm aware, I haven't messed with the mod stuff myself), I can see it potentially affecting the save file's transferability.

In the meantime, if you're looking to play with friends, it can be fun to start over on a save you don't care much about. Especially if those friends are just starting out as well. Starting over returns a sense of constant progression, at least for a while, as you have new game-changing things to get after each and every mission

You'll certainly miss your overclocks, but it can be fun to try out new things and get the progression back for a bit

You can go down check out Xbox Networking. It can fix things, but sometimes it may continue to say it's broken when when it works, so it can be quite unsatisfying.

Click Start and then type "xbox networking" (without the quotes) to open the Xbox Networking system settings screen. You can trying clicking "Fix it" if it says there's issues. It might help, it might not

You can also try to repair and/or uninstall/reinstall Gaming Services. This has helped in the past as well

If it happens again, don't panic. Open the Options menu. Look for "Save Menu." Click "Restore Save." You'll get a list of your cloud saves so you can restore your progress

This is interesting, because it was disabled on my router, but if the other guys have it enabled on their routers at baseline, would this prevent me from connecting to them?

There is a session desync issue that's been around forever. It can pop up after only a few minutes or sometimes it doesn't seem to affect anything even after playing several missions. Once a play session becomes desynced, the people in the session can continue to play together indefinitely but are unable to invite or join other players.

You can fix the desync by exiting and relaunching the game, or some folks simply Disband Team from the Options menu to reset. I tend to exit and relaunch just to be sure. That fixes it almost every time, and, for the rare times it doesn't fix it, reboot and then try again and that will fix session desyncs.

It kinda sounds like that's what you're describing if you're trying to join friends who've already been going for a little while. It's a completely unpredictable when the session will become desynced, but it is a fairly consistent occurrence

It's interesting that you say that, because my friend was playing and I had the option to join. I got up to get a drink and then the option was gone. Granted, they can join me and I can invite them, but not the other way around.

I'll try what you've outlined, though I'm interested to see if my turning on IPV6 will solve anything--it's been off since I bought a new router a year ago.

I'm playing a bit less frequently these days, but it's been an issue for myself and my friends for a while. What we tend to do is hop into chat to hang out and wait for the mission to end (unless it's just started and then we'll often just hop out to get the friend in), then all exit and relaunch together, and always wait until being fully loaded into the Space Rig before attempting to invite or join. This consistently works for us every time. A minor inconvenience, but missions rarely take more that ~20 minutes and it's easy to fix.

I think that's the thing--he was in the rig and not in a mission when the option to join was there. When he was in mission, I couldn't join. It's an interesting issue that sounds like it likely wont be solved any time soon.

Well, at least stopping all my Razer processes (including THX helper) has solved my crashing issue--or else I'd end up being a pretty crappy host!

Just to be clear, it can affect folks in the Space Rig as well. If, after the mission they were on, they left the team they were on or disbanded the team they had, that will reset the session. So simply being in the Space Rig after a mission won't fix by itself

Can I get my DRG save file from the Xbox app even if I currently don't have DRG unlocked nor installed?

Background: I had played DRG a year or so ago when I had game pass, and have since switched PCs and stopped paying for game pass, and now want to continue playing in Steam instead, but don't want to start from scratch.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not even sure if Xbox retains cloud data for a game you don't own or have access to. Xbox is pretty good about cloud saves so it wouldn't surprise me if they did, but it also wouldn't surprise me if they didn't (why keep save files on an account when the account can no longer access the game?). It's kind of a relatively recent issue, given that before Game Pass there were very few, if any, games that you would lose access to after having a license to play. Hadn't really thought about it before now...

That said, as far as I'm aware, your cloud backups are only available (if they even still exist) on PC when you have the game installed. I've had a quick look through the Xbox App, and I didn't see any way to view cloud storage for your account. That doesn't mean there isn't a way, I'm just not aware of one.

The procedure for moving a save from an Xbox console to Steam requires folks to install DRG on their PC to sync the cloud saves to their PC, then they can move the save file to the Steam version. I mention this only because (again, as far as I'm aware) I've not seen any mention of a method to get the save files on a PC, from a console or the cloud, without installing the game

That'd be great if that's the case. Save data is usually relatively small, and I'm sure Microsoft just has allotted a default amount of storage space to each account. I figured I would try the one who was joinable, but it kept saying "multiplayer session ended." The other guy did not have the option for me to join his game. Networking issues, sheesh! They joined me and all was OK, like you said in your workaround.

Both use the same method (Xbox networking) to establish connections. It's peer-to-peer connections, so any connection issues would be related to the host's and clients' internet connections. There are not really any connection issues that are specific to Xbox and Microsoft PC crossplay

I'm not at all surprised they don't delete things, because Xbox has tried to be fairly customer-friendly, especially relative to their competition

Hey guys, I'm trying to transfer my steam save file to xbox which I've done easily before, but the process seems to be broken now. After transferring, when I start up the game from Xbox, the transferred file just gets overwritten and replaces it with a new save at the tutorial. Any ideas?

Everything in DRG is peer-to-peer, meaning connection issues are going to be due to either your connection or the host's connection

Yes, it should be saving your data in the cloud. You can double check by launching the game, opening the Options menu, selecting the Save Menu, and then selecting Restore Save. It should give you a list of several recent cloud backup save files to choose from

Occasionally there have been issues retrieving cloud saves in the past. I just checked, and mine loaded, so they're not down for everyone, at least.

I would try logging out of your account, then fully reboot the console, and then log back in.

I do believe that if your system is not talking to the Xbox network the right way, it'll prevent the DLC from working (as well as the cloud saves), as it cannot verify the license for the DLC

Yeah, it happens rarely. I'll say that on PC, every time I load up DRG, when I get to the patch notes screen it briefly offers for me to buy the latest DLC. Then, only after a second, does it actually check to see if I own the DLCs and removes the link to buy it. So it seems like it has to check every time you launch the game. If it can't confirm your license with the Xbox servers to verify your access to the DLC, it won't allow you to select the DLC from the Cosmetics Terminal

The network connections are peer-to-peer, meaning you're directly connected to your friends, there are no servers. Everything relies entirely on your internet connection and their internet connections.

Ping is a measure of how long it takes data to travel between two systems. If you or the person hosting has a somewhat poor connection, or if you are geographically located far away from them, it will simply take longer for the data to transfer between you and them. The only way to improve this would be to physically be closer to them, and make sure that everyone has a decent connection

Not really much advice, with so little info to go on. In general, fully reboot the console.
If you're trying Industrial Sabotage missions, there have been a few reports of crashes during those mission types. If that's the case, the only advice is provide as much info here and in #1037308906516521010 as possible, so that the devs can investigate the issue. They can't fix the bug if they can't find it, so provide as much detail as possible (when it happens, what you're doing when it happens, are you host, are you solo, anything and everything you can think of that has to do with your setup and the crashes).

Make sure you're system clock is set correctly. In Windows Settings, Time & Language, Date & time, make sure both "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically" are turned on, and that your time is accurate

• Log out of your Xbox account via the Xbox app, then reboot and try to launch DRG. It should force you to sign in

Try those three things first. If all of that doesn't work, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling DRG. Luckily it's a small download.
If still nothing, you can go to Windows Settings, Gaming, Xbox Networking and let it test your connection. You can try the "Fix it" button there if it saw there are issues

Make sure you're changing the file name AND the file extension. In Windows Folder Options, on the View tab, make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is deselected in order to easily see and change the file extension when renaming files

They are attempting to move saves in the opposite direction (Xbox to Steam), and I don't think folks have had as many issues with that as they have had with going from Steam to Microsoft PC.

It definitely works for some folks, and I've been unable to determine why it has occasionally not worked for others. If we're on different patches, Steam is almost always ahead so going backwards to Microsoft tends not to work. However, we currently appear to be on the same patch. One thing that wouldn't shock me is if certain mods on Steam might make it so save files won't work when transferred to Microsoft, but I've not seen enough to have a good idea whether or not that might be part of the problem

Awesome, figured it out thanks to a post from u/Insert-Great-name a while back on reddit. . For those going from Steam to xbox app: if the save you transfer is being overwritten/ignored when you start DRG, restart your computer after changing and renaming the file. Don't launch drg after you change it until you restart.

I believe it will happen when the game is not able to verify ownership for the DLC with Xbox servers, for whatever reason. Since it doesn't seem to happen to everyone or all the time, it could be an issue with the Xbox network or something specific to your console/PC

Rebooting your console/PC can sometime help clear up connection issues that would cause things like this

and it uses old networking system, which...doesnt exist anymore, so i dont know how we would even do that

Oh, yeah. I imagine you'd have to do a ton of work to make it possible to play. I suspect you'd mostly have to fake it by switching out all the assets and turning off a bunch of features somehow. It would be a good chunk of the way toward fully remaking the game at that point...

I always recommend folks should buy where ever they have friends to play with, and if it's pretty much the same everywhere and you have a PC, go for the Steam version. Actual game content is pretty much the same on every platform, but the Steam version has some advantages that make it a better choice if you and your friends are just getting started with DRG

Myself and a friend played open-to-the-public missions for several hours yesterday, and every mission except one was a full squad, usually within a minute or two of starting the mission, if not sooner. Granted, we only had two open spaces to fill instead of three if you're going in by yourself, but yes, it's very possible to have a full squad pretty quickly

So I still can't play with other people on Xbox. Worked during beta, not since release.
I've tried re-installing, installing different places, resetting the xbox various ways, port forwarding. Everything.
I can't join anyone and they can't join me.

Husband is on a different Xbox on the same network and has the same issue.

This happens with DRG, TOM, and Aliens:FTE. But the halo games work fine.

I'm at wit's end.

It does sound like it's most likely to do with both consoles being on the same network. Unfortunately, since there are no servers to connect to and everything is direct connection between players, to an Xbox outside of your internet your two Xboxes are practically indistinguishable as they both use the same external IP address.
Without the right network configuration (and maybe additional network hardware to allow you to config the network in a way that works, unfortunately) there probably isn't really anything you can do. I highly, highly doubt it has anything to do with your save files; wiping those will only hurt

If you're using the ISP-provided router, you could try to turn on UPnP if it's not on already. But it may just be that the router from your ISP does not provide great configuration options and/or features. ISP-provided routers are not often able to handled use cases like multiple Xboxes being used simultaneously, as they don't expect that to be a common use case . You should be able to use a different router and connect it to your ISP-provided hardware, and that could change the situation considerably

Because it does sound like the routing of data isn't being handled appropriately to allow both boxes to talk to the outside world on the same ports at the same time. Network collisions would cause the issues you're seeing

Contacting the ISP sounds like not a bad idea, even if just to make sure everything is configured correctly on both ends. I can't be a ton of help, but I've seen plenty of people say that simply replacing their router made a difference, as not all hardware (and the internal software) is created equally. Of course, I have no idea what you're working with or if you've already tried that, but I do hope you're able to get to the bottom of it. It's frustrating when things don't work correctly

Like, I don't see any bind for push to talk in the settings menu, and I've only heard one person talk in the 5-6 hours I've played so far. Does it just support voice chat automatically when you have a mic connected or what? Just seems weird to me that there's no settings related to it (?).
