When i try to launch deep rock i get stuck on the "preparing to launch deep rock galactic" screen. I have tried reinstalling, checking files, updatings things on my pc. If i launch form the exe file in the folders i get in the game but it says it can not connect to steam. I have also downloaded a updated version of direct x. any suggestions?

I can no longer "press C" to invite players to a lobby, or join lobbies made by other players. I was able to do both yesterday (roughly 24 hours ago).

hi, i have an isue where after starting the game, the screen freezes, if i press the windows button the screen unfreezes but as soon as i click something in-game again it goes back to frozen, making the game completely unplayable, i suspect the issue comes from me modifying the game's files after instaling a mod (vrg mod) wich required some file modifications, tho it used to work after i did these modifications, any idea on how to solve it? edit: i managed to make the game windowed fullscreen and it apears to work now, however i prefer full screen, any idea why this freezing happens when playing on full screen instead of windowed?

FYI for folks on an issue I seem to have had with the most recent nvidia drivers, not necessarily a bug but something to watch out for. After launch of season 2, I was getting the "black screen" issue detailed in this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/DeepRockGalactic/comments/qtnyvi/black_screen_on_startup/

Using the -disablemodding launch option worked for me at the time. I had the issue again today and thought it might be related to something in the most recent update, but as a satiny check I tried some other games first and others were having the same issue. Because it only seemed to be games I had set to 144Hz, and Elden Ring which is locked at 60Hz worked, I looked at the refresh rate set on my display in Windows and it seems that after I installed the most recent nvidia driver the refresh rate was set to 60Hz for some reason. So, if you're having this issue and the launch option doesn't help that could be the cause.

This kind of stuff doesn't magically appear out of nowhere. If it's there, there's a reason for it.
Since you say you haven't played with randoms, I assume it's not something that's been added to your account out of your control (besides, everyone else would have been affected).

Make sure you got rid of any potential cheats you had, for any game.
Ultimately, if you cheated, whatever. Like The Loan Ranger said, nobody cares.

If you don't want to keep that, there's an option to restore your save in the game's option. It will set your save back to how it was before.

1. when loading into the game, the three empty slots for other dwarfs is missing, and so is the "press c to invite friends" in hud
2. pressing c doesn't do anything.
3. going into the menu and trying to press the + icons, or C for inv doesn't do anything
4. trying to join people's open sessions through the ingame xbox profile ui only flashes the screen and does nothing
5. clicking on any open mp session will show a small [Loading...] prompt with the background blurred, but does absolutely nothing and will "load" for eternity
6. clicking on any open mp session will make it disappear a second later, only to reappear when clicking on another session to join
7. setting a lobby to host:public does nothing as no one can join you, as if you're offline
8. when playing any mission on host:public, the invite friends buttons and pressing C still doesn't function at all
9. when playing any mission on host:public, no one will ever be able to join you mid mission
10. when playing any mission on host:public, you can pause the game as if it's either private or solo

this how how i recreate my bug and what it does. i dont have much crashes, but instead the complete unresponsiveness of multiplayer aspects

has anyone else experienced the same thing? because idk if it's known enough to get fixed so i'm worried about being softlocked from multiplayer permanently, especially since drg is only one of 3 games that i play which is gonna suck

I'm starting to get a hard windows-failing crash every few hours.

Could be observation bias, but it seems to be xaused by running / jumpimg on dwarf related surfaces (platforms, molly, so on)

The error messages are unexpected thingies, exceptions, and so on. Nothing to obvious. The results is a hard lock that won't respond to control alt del or alt tab, but sound clips still loop

Which platform are you playing on? That mission should appear in either Hollow Bough or Dense Biozone. Syncing systemtime might fix it

There's a bug I encountered that happened last night but didn't notice until just now. I completed the Space Beach Party assignment but I didn't get either of the special hats from it but I got everything else. I was using my main save file (i.e. not sandbox) and the mods I had active were all either approved or verified. I already searched both the discord and the database for this bug but nothing came up, and I can't report it because my Jira account had access revoked due to being inactive (unless I make a new account which I'd rather not). Did anyone else come across this issue? And could one of the QA guys also help with getting my original account reactivated? Thanks in advance!

Anyone know how to fix severe input lag after alt tabbing out and in to the game?

i often tab out to check discord, but when i got back in, the input lag is insane

the only fix is either clicking "Apply" in the graphics settings or just restarting the whole game

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I have recently noticed a small black box of around 40x40 pixels on the left of my screen while in game. The mouse pointer sometimes go under this box, sometimes over. I don't have any overlays running besides geforce Experience.There is no mods running. This didn't used to be a problem, and I can't find any information about it. I don't know what could cause it, as no other games have this (problem?)

First of all you'll have to be able to view hidden files to find the right folder (Packages or simply just App Data to apply this to everything in there).
The folder can be found by going to your drive with Windows on it (usually C:), go to Users, your username, App Data, Local, Packages. At this point I believe you cannot access it further.
The matter is a bit more complicated than on Steam but maybe you can access it through that, still ?
If the name's files is the same, it should be WindowsNoEditor, and there should be a settings.ini you can edit. then you just need to find the right option and turn it off (usually through a 1 or 0 value)

If you can't find the files, maybe you can ask people in #xbox-and-windows-store. My knowledge is sadly quite limited for the other versions of DRG 😄

The game ran normally for me for around 30-40 hours, and suddenly it started stuttering and the performance was significantly reduced. (Went from stable >60fps on high-ultra to around 30-40 on medium) I thought it was caused by my HDD so I bought a new SSD. The display no longer stutters, but the audio does and the performance is still decreased. The issue remains regardless of the resolution and graphic settings. I've tried the solutions in the FAQ, reinstalling the game, running it as an administrator, updating drivers, disabling fullscreen optimization and disabling masterEQ in the audio settings. Really don't know what to do anymore. Any advice?

You can use Nvidia Gefore Experience to keep track, or you can check online by yourself

Also you'll probably have a better experience using DX12. You will have stuttering at first, while the cache is building up, but it should go away after a few hours of playing and give you a smoother overall experience

Given your hardware, dx12 is probably better suited.

Make sure your computer is cleaned up and the thermal paste has been put back on too, if you haven't done that already.

Take good care of your hardware, especially in summer.

My (miner?) rank was around 5 when I joined a hazard 2 mission with my level 12 scout about 7 minutes in. The mission was the only one where I experienced bad frame issues. I usually hit 120ish and was averaging around 20 fps sometimes. At the end of the mission, my scout leveled to 25 and my miner rank went to 9. We had something like 600k exp and the other two that completed the mission had a similar level up rate. They seemed equally confused in text chat. Is there any way this can be undone?

Down-ing youself does not free you from this location either.

This is in regards to this crash error

My specs were ryzen 7 5800, GTX 1080 8 gig, 16 gigs of ram. And I had my operating system on a hard drive since I built my pc years ago. I also play on direct X11

I was told this crash could likely be an nvidia driver issue. But I will now reveal what cured my crashing (in many games not just drg)

I upgraded my ram from 16 to 32 gigs and moved my operating system from a hard drive to an SSD

I’m not sure which did the trick but I have been playing on ultra for the past week and the game runs fine, free of crashes

It’s possible that the crashes you are experience and tied to a hardware issue. And I recommend all dwarves upgrade\replace their ram and move their OS onto and SSD if they haven’t already

Because this completely fixed my crashes. Best of luck and feel free to DM me with any questions.

The game limits the RoF of weapons at 20, because the engine kinda break over this limitation. So the way the devs went to give the illusion for some gun of firing very fast is that they have fake bullets. So for those weapons, for 2 ammo used, you're only really firing one bullet.
It means the real ammo pool and RoF of those guns is actually half of what is displayed.

Hey there. I have a recurring issue with using discord while playing DRG. After an indefinite amount of time, I stop being audible to my discord people. The green circle still does its thing of lighting up when I speak, but nothing else. The issue goes away for a bit when I set the discord input to my laptop microphone and back to headset or restart discord. DRG voice chat is disabled and set to a different mic, so I don't think there is a conflict between that and discord. All drivers are up to date and all devices working. Any help or experience with this issue would be greatly appreciated. :)

This looks more like a hardware issue, specifically GPU artifacting. If you have a non-factory OC on your GPU, may want to consider dialing it back a bit.

That combined with the sudden crash is making me think it's a GPU hardware issue rather than a software issue with the game.

Also you should probably just run DX11, even if the 1070 can run DX12, DRG has some funky issues with it.

Your hardware is not the cause for not being able to play multiplayer. You'll want to look into your firewall/permissions/antivirus instead.

So the save is pretty much gone.

so lets say you get 2 gunner lvls + an engi lvl, or a driller one + a scout one + and a gunner one

Ah yeah, engy probably struggles the most with adverse terrain like that for that event. Best you can do is prep the room with platforms ahead of time to any hard to reach ledges and dig open any tunnels adjacent to the deposit. Engy is all about prepping beforehand. scout gunner and even driller with dual dig speed upgrades can afford to be reactive to situations.

anyone else had any problems joining friends' games recently?

playing on steam, and pressing the "join game" button just does nothing. this only started yesterday and I've no clue what's causing it

other games have had no such issues

make sure your system clock us synced properly

also if I recall, the "join game" button can be a bit bugged. It doesn't work either if you try to join through Steam ?

that's the one I mean. if I try to join through my friends list it just doesn't work

neither do invites through steam

just turned of all my mods a second ago and that changed nothing either

you could try to go back to the previous drivers

did you try to launch the game with dx11 though ?

Okay, if it doesn't, try going back to the previous drivers. If that doesn't work either, you can try to install the game on another drive (if you have one).

to clarify its a bug on the game pass version where the game crashes as soon as i join or host a multiplayer game with my friends

theres no error code and the game just goes off, i have no issues when playing on my own and ive looked everywhere for a fix

Is there any further discussion on the "register mouse clicks inconsistently" bug? I'm still having issues with hold left click registering as a click and release, or randomly releasing while holding. Have followed recommended steps of fullscreen / compatibility, ruled out physical mouse issue. Surely there's more to it than "you're out of luck"?

Sadly, other than that and restarting the steam background services, the other solution I can think of is going back to windows 10.

DRG does not play nice with windows 11.

yeah unfortunately restarting steam services didn't do much for me, I don't even know if going to windows 10 is an option, as this computer came with windows 11 already on it

It's always an option to install another OS but it's not always simple so I can understand being reluctant to do it.
