Try those in that order : update your GPU drivers/make sure the game is using the right GPU/do a clean driver install using DDU/try to turn off 'core auto boost' or whatever is the equivalent of this in your BIOS/turn off your antivirus while playing (and check if no files from the game have been quarantined)

Of course, however it almost certainly seems more difficult to boot. The two biggest contributing factors to that is there being a hard time limit on staying on a level, and the scarcity of ammo.

I don't think it's bad that the game is hard, after all Reclaimers are "the best of the best, of the best of the best." They are sent in when all other options have been exhausted. I'd expect things to be quite difficult. Nothing beats the feeling of barely slipping into that elevator after surviving an insurmountable mass of enemies with no ammo and a sliver of life left after being on "code red" for the last 5 minutes.

It has more tools while computers are getting more performant overall. While many games will remain playable on lower end computer, this is a ceiling that's constantly elevating. We're in a transitionary period, which means a part of instability (this is true for video games but also for everything in general).

If you still don't think the game is in UE5, go to Steam, browse the game files, right-click the executable, go to properties and then go to the details tab. The engine version is plainly displayed there.

The thing that blows me away the most about the devs at DRG is how performant there voxeled terrain is. Any other game you touch you'll notice a significant loss in frames as the terrain is manipulated more and more. My favorite thing to do with Retcon is use all the superweapons I can, place as much movement util as I can, and suicide into the electric crystals destroying them. Sure I might "die" but you snap back like nothing happened the moment your beard hits the rock.

also I need to stress something: before this new playtest build, Falconer was dogshit. Abysmal class, and by far the worst one.

You couldn't build into the falcon, it did very little damage, and took a while to fully regenerate

Now she is SO much better and can do insane damage

That's how it feels to me. I love the way it is now. I feel so strong until my back is against the wall.

Also because of how equipment is handled, it does away with the whole "Engi, Scout combo is a must" energy. I feel good playing whatever, and each class can benefit another well.

That kind of forced meta stuff always pushes me away. I hate BF for that reason. "If you aren't using X weapon with Y class you might as well log off"

I'm also really happy with how Armor has evolved.

It started off really bad. It did not regenerated, but otherwise functioned the exact same as shield.

Then, they made it so each hit makes that amount of armor go down over time. As it goes down, no extra armor is taken and you are hit for the same damage as you would with armor. It was way better, but still not really worth bothering with. Armor sources were incredibly scarce, and using ammo crates to regain armor was a REALLY bad idea.

but now? Not only does guardian have a dedicated armor regeneration ability for everyone, but there are now armor crates all over the place, that spawn seperately from everything

Making armor actually something you consistently have, and makes armor-based upgrades not a total and complete waste

Just ran my first ever rogue core run. Decided to run solo as I learned the lay of the land. Happy to report that I had a blast! I also managed to beat the run on my first go! Nearly 200 hours of DRG has trained me well 😄

i enjoyed my first run, but my innitial impression is rogue core doesn't have it's own identity just yet. Even though the game told me i wasn't playing DRG, I felt like I was playing DRG with a minor twist. I no longer have direct control of my load out. That's the biggest difference. I still had fun, but it's not quite yet it's own game. I want to see more development and character that is unique. Honestly, I like the concept of Omega but it's voice just feels very out of place. Comes off with a Jamaican accent in a game filled with dwarfs.

Also, I started off playing the ripper, the melee class. I would love to see melee weapons in the game besides your pick which does ok-ish damage but not enough to sustain you long run. And while using the pick as weaponry, I hate having to hold right click to get a single swing out of it. If you right click and release before the attack flies it cancels the animation. I would love to be able to click and attack.

Again. I enjoyed the game and had fun. Made it to the 4th floor boss on my first attempt before getting over ran while playing solo. Wish i beat them, but i wasn't good enough. I just want to see the game come more into it's own. I believe several voice lines were direct copy pasted from DRG and while using the same game engine and graphics as DRG it's hard to say, I'm not playing DRG despite the game telling you otherwise.

I can't wait to see their progress and will keep playing to see if there are any major issues that need immediate addressing.

Managed to get a key to the game! It's pretty good overall but I'm taking a break after losing 4 runs back to back. The last one right near the end during the final boss where I suddenly started taking a huge amount of damage from an attack that can't be avoided or shielded against.

it looks like they have a lot of stuff planned that just hasn't been put in yet. The fact I got a bit of a sneak peak is really cool, not going to lie. it's a first for me getting to alpha test a game, but the devs were honest. When you load up the game a video from the dev lead plays and they tell you, it's going to be rough... and to some degree it is. There's some balancing that needs to be done and I would love to see more things that are unique to RC. Right now most of the game is just recycled DRG and it shows. Not saying that's a bad thing, but if you enjoy DRG go play DRG becuase as it stands RC is not it's own game yet.

don't know if you saw my message earlier, but my wife and I signed up on the same day. I got a key, she hasn't. I don't know what their system is for deciding who gets one and who doesn't or when, but it is what it is. Nothing we can do about it so try not to worry about it. It might suck if you don't get a key, but as a whole it doesn't negatively impact anyone either. I hope more people get some soon though! The game needs a bit further developement imo. I truly want to see RC be a different game from DRG.
