I am wondering if Crossplay could be in the cards, if Ghost Ship actually puts it in during development. My understanding is that adding Crossplay to DRG is too complicated and each platform is a different version of the game, thus hard to sync to other platforms.

that's the broad strokes of it, but it varies from contracts to contracts

some publishers have a lot more controls than others

it's pretty much the same kind of partnership there is between productors and directors on a movie.

and by that I mean: some publishers can literally change things in a game, if the contract allows for it. It's all legal stuff but basically, because they invest the money into the product being made, there are things they can do to insure the game is gonna sell "well" (take that with a massive grain of solt, obviously).

It's a case per case thing, though. Some publishers are completely fine with giving complete creative control to the studios they're working with - such as Coffee Stain, which is know for their "hands off" approach to publishing.

Yea there are cut stuff like floodlights and autosentry you could of ordered via supply pods by spending gold on them which would of been nice since it gave you more reasons to gather gold than just for credits. No, they are separate from the miners. These guys are Elite Soldiers that take their job seriously and follow orders from an AI called OMEGA. Most voicelines rn are still incomplete and im pretty sure they are trying to make the reclaimers sound more serious at their job than whatever they say now by being scared in the cave lol.

mods will happen regardless, mod support is another thing and while it's nice, it's not necessary either. They've already made "mod support" by making the game easy to mod to begin with. If they don't want to bother with it, it's not a big deal because modders will make 3rd party tool for it anyway.

The point is not encouraging just anyone to buy it in early access, but to make it available for the people who are excited about the game and want a hand in shaping the final product.

and my point is i think its silly to also totally dismiss those who say it. I think the response to "I think this early access game is super unfinished" should be:

"Hm. I wonder if people are saying this for a reason they maybe can't articulate well, and something about the game is making them feel like it's unfinished, beyond just being an early access game. Maybe they feel comfortable saying it's unfinished because they do not feel like the game will change much between early access and release, and therefore are worried the unfinished content may just stay as-is?"

And not:

"If you wanted a finished game, you shouldn't have bought it in early access! Heh, Owned!"

I personally do not think Rogue Core, as it currently is in the latest public build, is ready for early access. However, just like DRG, the needed work will happen in the last few months before release, when they move their focus away from smaller updates in response to immediate feedback/adding content to larger system additions and changes.

But just because Rogue Core will become "ready" in the months before release, doesn't mean that feeling of "this game is currently not ready for early access" should be totally disregarded

what is silly is the fact they've joined back in November 2024, right when the devs released the roadmap saying it was planned for 2025, complain that the game was "delayed" and then proceed to repeat the exact same things they've said back then.

Also they're complaining about how "delaying the game killed it for me". As if making a game had anything to do with it interacts with their personal agenda, which sounds either super naive or super entitled.

Sure, it's not EA ready right now, but none of their complaints was really about that.

That's fair, but you also cant spend all your time trying to squeeze blood out of a stone. Some people are just mad or farming clown emojis and have no interest in genuine criticism. Not everyone is going to like the game regardless of what we do, so while you definitely shouldn't dismiss negative criticism, it can be beneficial to listen to people who actually like the game (or the idea of the game) or at the very least want to have a good faith discussion about it.
