I can only say that the robot was basically just hanging around like a freeloader, so I gave him a pity part in the video. The real money went into the apple. The apple sells the whole thing, itās really the meat of the video. The last year of allocated man-hours were put into that apple in a studio wide effort. There were bloody creative clashes, severed limbs, cold shoulders, but I think the results speak for themselves šš

how will the closed alpha test work?
No. Rogue Core classes are very different from DRG classes. One thing we are trying with Rogue Core is to make it easier for us to make more classes.
in DRG a class consists of:
- Primary and secondary weapons with upgrade trees and OCs
- Traversal Tool
- Class Tool
- Grenades
in RC a class is:
- A gauntlet "ability"
- 2 "decks" of personal upgrades (we call those bio boosters right now)
- a class perk or two
we're not 100% sure yet but at some point we'll open up a signup thing via steam. And then probably give people access in batches.

Yes-ish the idea is for you to be able to move the bio booster decks around. Like maybe after you max level a class that classes bio boosters become available for use in other classes... that part still only lives on paper
We're actually not making them directly related to the gauntlets but instead focus on a class theme.
For example one of Slicer's decks has melee focused boosts. But it's still very usable by another class with stuff like the pickaxe and the drills.

Not sure if I would really call it a true melee class though. You can't play with the blade alone. You need another weapon as well.

- It's not a barrier, more of a repulsion zone
- It felt too passive and I wanted Guardian to have a more active ability
But the repulsion field was still cool so we kept that as well
Of course, I moreso just meant a dedicated melee weapon

I'm very open to expanding the other classes to have different stuff on RMB and LMB when the gauntlet is out...

Iām curious about how gauntlets will behave in the game. Will they be sorta like other weapons/tools where you can pull them out whenever you want although they might run out of ammo/charges that need to be replenished, or will they be like abilities that can be activated by pushing a button and only lasts for a period of time before they go to cooldown?
I mean the spotter's darts also do two things. Leaving a zone if hitting terrain or sticking to enemies if hitting directly.

on some gauntlets tapping q quickly triggers the ability
but most need to be aimed
Ideas for secondary abilities of the other classes:
Spotter: fires a single explosive projectile similar to the projectile launch system in Cyberpunk 2077
Bzzrd: Autonomous roaming mode
Supernova: energy stab, launches the beam in a straight line
Buzzrd already has a roaming mode if you launch it without looking at a target. RMB to recall.

The surgeon general doesn't like smoking, so that might prevent the game from being available in the us
prob much like in DRG - there will be alcohol, but adding cigs would bump the age rating too high
I'm pretty sure they've confirmed beers, so it won't happen, but it'd be funny if they went the opposite direction and had a smoking lounge/bar with cigars that the dwarves smoke for buffs/funny effects instead

I have a theory, a GAME THEORY
So I was rewatching the rogue core dev stream, and saw the spawnmenu for all the critters. Mainly I was focusing on the "Krizzok Boomtick Spawner" and the "Rafkan Augmentor spawner"
I bet the booktick is a little bug that suicide bombs you, and the augmentor must be a smaller version of the thrasher. (Obv)
Their spawns are most likely similar to the Brood Nexus and Naedocyte Breeder, as one is grounded and one is flying

im thinking the augmentor might be a buffer
boomticks are probably like exploders
if its being spawned then it might be similar to a shocker
like a swarmer
but yeah like i said the boomtick is obviously a mini exploder lol
but now that i think about it, it could be because there was a cut naedocyte called the plover that gave warden buffs

One question I still have is around the roguelike elements. Like, obviously equipment/perks will be per run, in contrast to DRG, but given the co-op nature of the game, I'm assuming the meta progression will still have certain things like Promotion levels, cosmetics (obviously), etc. Will there also be things like weapon mastery? Will I need to make 4 characters, one for each of the classes, or is the class chosen at the start of the mission?
That actually raises a good question: What will be the "default" reclaimer outside of any mission look like? There wouldn't be value in letting you pick a class in the ramrod, and they definitely won't be adding a shooting range or any way to test things outside of a run, for the same reasons you can't do that in DRG: so you can test things in a live environment. (It was never technical limitations)
But anyway I definitely don't think you'll need 4 profiles, that'd be silly

No weapon mastery as of now, but it's not unlikely that we'll explore those options. For now the meta progression we have are enhancements that you can equip before a run.
In terms of classes, you choose the one you want to use for the run before you head out.
We're looking into being able to upgrade and mod your special ability and bio boosters.
We have ideas for a " sneak fear build" of upgrades that allows you to reduce detection, be undetected momentarily, scare tactics and surprise attacks of sorts. Not sure where that will go yet, since it would maybe not work so great in solo.
I'm thinking along the lines of Reaper from overwatch or a Rogue / assassin Class from DnD. Could be that we need a class instead of a build, but nothing is set in stone.

honestly i'd figure something like that would be more useful in solo. that build in co-op would just have the enemies target someone else, while in solo they wouldn't target anyone
I am really curious to see what application a sneak build could have in RC, when just killing the enemies would be largely a better option. Maybe it can force bugs to outright despawn?

Meh, despawning enemies sound a little lame. I think the reason it would be more useful in multiplayer is because thereās other people for enemies to focus on, not just you, allowing you to be more sneaky or run after important things that need to die

Yes and no. It will not be a 1:1 addition. For instance, I imagine some of them will not be added because they're just stat changes, which are now just random attributes a weapon can get. But something like the Hyper Propellant OC has been turned into a weapon instead, because the gameplay is fun.
Overall if an OC changes or offers new cool mechanics, they can become weapons, if they're stat changes only they'll end up as attributes. Ricochet bullets is one of the mechanics that can be an attribute.
Also I don't think we want negative attributes on weapons. That's reserved for the artifacts.

Yeah something like that. But I think explosive reload could easily be an attribute or level up

but something like the fatboy or hyper propellant changes the PGL so significantly and are so powerful they need huge downsides. So by making new weapons we don't have to be "too careful" with balancing.
I think this term might be something we use internally. Often the uinstable overclocks change weapons so drastically they almost turn into different weapons. Like the Cluster OC for Thundercannon for instance.
In Rogue Core that could then be a different weapon, if we wanted it to be. It's easier to do that at least, but not impossible to just add to the thunderhead if you find it.
I imagine it would be best to have cluster charges or salvo module as OCs on the missile launcher if you find it, rather than turning into a new weapon. But again, having a new kind of shotgun could be an option instead of having salvo module as an OC.
So yeah there's a lot of stuff we can do.
Right now we're not focusing on that too much, instead working on some other systems that the weapons can utilize instead.
one of those being the elemental system, which is getting a redesign.
Giving the weapons random attributes and elements and all that will generate so many options for weapons, that OCs probably aren't needed very much.
Oh, so weapons with predetermined damage components like Fire/Radiation for Colette Wave Cooker could roll different % damages instead? Say Electric/Kinetic or Piercing/Radiation?
Yeah something like that. We're still working out the details, but you could find a Blowthrough Fire Shotgun

then you can upgrade it as you play. Also a WIP.
but the idea is that as you ugprade it, it levels up and they also come with rarities.

Yes and no. They'll come in a lot of shapes and sizes.
Yeah maybe. We spot these things as they come and will try to address it as we go. However we do have certain rules of what kinds of things you'll get from each pool of upgrades, and we'll expand on those if things are not working out.
Our process is extremely agile, so we'll nip the buds or tweak as soon as such problems arise.
Yeah, first thing that came to me as a potential solution would be āwell letās assume that weapons would have certain element buckets they could get elements from, so that the pool is not too diluted, especially with say, less intuitive element optionsā
sure that's a way to do it, but right now I don't think it's a problem that all weappons can get all elements. As long as it's not everything at once.
A limitation would be that they won't come with two elements at once, or that no all weapon options presented have elements. There's tons of ways.
However, sometimes we do want some element combinations because we are working on synergies between them.
such as ice + fire = temp shock

Also if you don't want to spoil the surprise I understand, but how diverse is the enemy roster in comparison to the first game? We got a glimpse and it seemed pretty big but I imagine what we saw still isn't the full list.
