I never do. I hate the outside.
brb guys, going to pump up my RC hours
noooo
TIL game dev distorts time perception
I think I've said this before, but devs are free to give me access to their account to let me play Rogue Core if you want someone to pump up your play hours.
Is the drone named Rogueco?
Yes
He was originally called Rogey Mc Rogueface, but it was too on the nose.
Damn
It's not too late to go back
The falconer on solo is gonna have some many friend's
Turn on god mode then afk?
??
Profit!
Hmm…. Rogue core has silt walls confirmed???
same
Why can developers play so much and we can't? It's unfair! :D
this may be a stupid quesiton but will RC benefit your overall account with resources. Like if I get umanite or jadizz or something in RC will that be on my drg inventory as well?
Two separate games.
No, it won't
Aren't the Reclaimers akin to Dwarf Special Operations Forces?
I wonder if we can have STEEVE in Rogue Core. It would make my day to have STEEVE again.
"You're a good bug Steeve."
that sucks cheeks
If it wasn’t DRG themed and a completely different IP you wouldn’t be complaining. It’s a separate game.
Yeah it's silly to think resources would be shared between games
Like I don't expect my 5000 umanite to suddenly appear in DRG survivor either
it actually doesn't, in my opinion
There's nothing fun in getting into a new game and being able to unlock everything instantly
and it's not fun either for people coming onto the game without having played DRG
What even is rogue core
It is an FPS Roguelitke game set in the universe of Deep Rock Galactic title Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core where the Core might have gone Rogue.
Pinned messages
I feel like my explanation was plenty indepth and eloquent
You are quite in-depth and eloquent
I dont disrespect this take but I thinkIt does though, at least with players that arent fully progressed in DRG. Playing one game directly siphons time away from progressing in the other game. Yes if it was a different publisher and different style I wouldn't rly care right, but its the same assets from a game that already exists. I dont understand why this concept isnt just dlc (one that I would happily pay for) in the main game. DRG Is already an impossibly long game to complete and unlock everything.
the assets you saw in the trailer are just placeholders
RC will have its own assets and models
I dont understand why this concept isnt just dlc (one that I would happily pay for) in the main game.
they've already covered and answered this many times - which can all be found in the pinned messages, along with all the available info for the game
and RC is not a dlc because coding picking up different weapons as the mission goes was not something that could be done in drg
also, new game, fresh ideas, don't have to care about preexisting balance, etc etc
thank you for telling me I did not know this, I just joined the discord to ask about this game.
it's also made in UE5, while DRG is on UE4
which I'm pretty sure have some incompatibility
yeah. I still don't like it, I doubt anybody is going to change my mind tbh
like Im sure the game will be a blast
well we got all those infos laying around
there's a decent amount of stuff to read through
i just, dont like the idea of having to split my time between the two games
if you are new to drg, and want to enjoy it to the fullest, don't buy RC as it comes out then
some people would probably enjoy playing rogue core, but not drg, so this would enable those people to only have to buy rogue core and not drg and then rc as a dlc
^ that is an explanation that makes the most sense and was my original thought process
but the same could be said of literally any two games
that's a weird argument to me
mfw when silksong comes out at the same time as RC 💀
You can only play one game, this is the law.
I'd be happy knowing Silksong came out to begin with
plz Team Cherry
I mean there is not really a way to know how different the games are from each other until we are able to play them. I am assuming they will be pretty similar, but theres no way for me to know that. I really do think DRG players should get some sort of bonus or something for playing RC
Do you skong, or do you rouge? Choose wisely.
8 days from now
just watch
skong rouge collab like the AC x Doom
you watched the on the horizon stream, yeah?
the what
Ill throw it up on the second monitor while I study, maybe it will ease my undying rage
You'd be suprised what someone can do with an attention span in the negatives... /j

yeah if silksong comes out i might have to put the rogue core on hold for a week or two
The absolute most I'd expect out of it, with an optimistic view, is a hat or something.
Aren’t drg owners getting a lil discount towards buying Rc? Or is this ancient hearsay
if it becomes a steam bundle, then yeah
*probably
There will likely be one.
@simple cloak By itself? Probably not
do we even know if there will be cosmetics? the vibe of the game makes it seem like cosmetics make less sense
the miner dwarves are consumers and live in the company town
the reclaimers are mission driven and highly trained
I remember seeing cosmetic armors in the alpha trailer, mega corp being one of them
ah alright
those were placeholders afaik
the actual reclaimer classes will probably have custom armor- or something to differentiate them
they could do cosmetics of utility
like upgrades will change how you look or smth
or holding certain items can stain your armor
idk they could do something interesting with it i think
most likely i think we'll just get a variation on the current cosmetic system
making a realistic cosmetic staining system would go hard af
like, you can wash stuff off in the ship, pick up/run into comba buds to dye your armor pink (as an example). slowly accumulate dirt stains throughout the run etc
draw on other people's armor (they'd have to stay still and let you do it)
i really hope the dwarves get new voice actors. i dont think the usage of existing voicelines is just placeholders, as in the footage of showing off the npcs, you can explicitly hear NEW voicelines made just for rogue core using the existing dwarf voice actor. Meaning its not just reusing DRG lines as placeholders, there is an intention to reuse the existing VA.
you objectively cannot posit that we aren't playing as the normal DRG dwarves while using the exact same voice actor with the exact same writing style, comedy and tone
unless GSG is planning to make that "every single dwarf is a clone" theory canon
Maybe that's just how all dwarves talk
I didn't fully catch the lines in the stream i vaguely heard them
Won't lie, no thrilled it will be the same voice actor, but he does a good job
if the grappling hook makes its way into rogue core i'm so pairing that with the minigun
they work for the same company in the same industry so would likely have somewhat similar demeanors and outlooks (and perhaps in-jokes), all the previous dwarves we know of sound different enough from one another with the same voice actor, and the majority of changing tone has not been shown much yet but they will probably be a bit more assured of their success than the DRG dwarves are (who say they're not gonna make it all the time) and the game overall is stated to have a darker tone that will likely affect voice lines
Pretty sure the devs have just decided that this is how dwarves sound in the universe
But we haven't been shown enough of the voice work yet to have a concrete opinion yet
Every dwarf we play is a clone of the original Karl, hence they all have the same accent
(I offer no explanation for why different classes have different voice pitches)
Cloning imperfections
Maybe it's related to them having between 1 and 4 brain cells
(1 = driller, 4 = engi)
...5+ = reclaimer?
If Driller mains could read, they'd be very upset.
Pretty sure the voiceactor is the one of the lead devs(founders?) so it's likely mostly due to logistics of procuring new lines from a different person more than anything, especially when it's a dev who is expected to stick around
huh?
Must've been the wind
The dwarf voice actor is an actual voice actor. Mission control is a dev
Ah, I mixed them up then
Another day of me begging to test this game already, I can’t wait to hop in, I hope people use mics more though, that is the only part that concerns me. Will it have a separate server or I imagine it’ll get a ton of channels for looking for groups.
legend has it that rouge core comes out one day after skong
is rogue core just gonna be a better drg
Pins have the juicy details that we have at current
more like one day before at this rate
^me at every nintendo direct^
Especially the nintendo world ones
this should be a cosmetic in-game
in all three of the games
It shall launch the same day as rogue core so we can have a similar thing to doom x animal crossing
Specifically rogue cores 1.0 launch
Rogue Song?
Silk Core?
Core silk
Silking my song until silksong releases
Roguing my core until rogue core releases
Hey if rogue core is 🟥 what is silksong?
Also 🟥
Silksong is
Silksong is not
I wake up <—> tomorrow silksong comes out
Eventually it’ll work
One day the silksanity will become true!
December 6 2024
Mark your calendars
Im sorry to inform you its already December 6th and no skong
just a week away
winter 2014
CET
we will get silksong 1 and 2 both dropped on the same day
possibly
we'll come back to this comment in a year and execute you if you are wrong
if you are a coder, why don't you just code silksong until it is done?
Sorry 🥺
Lol you're fine, I did it too.
We're all silksong down here
@keen cargo Is this a place to ask " simple " RC questions? My eyes did not find a particular sub-thread for it besides Suggestions for RC
Yeah, you can ask them here if they aren’t in pins, and either us or maybe a dev will answer
You’re also probably more likely to get the devs to answer you if you ask your questions during their livestreams, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s
don't ping the devs though
also we have a lot of already available info in the pinned messages
so read those before
as they might answer some of your questions
I will keep that in mind. I had a few question regarding color theming of classes, melee. But yeah, thanks!
Yeah
facpealm Yeah, I will read pinned stuff ASAP. An jepp, no pinging. Understood
Awesome! Gonna check it out... gotta grab my coffee first... Oh just a tiny question. I assume its most guaranteed to get Live Stream Youtube chat answers if superchatting?
Or if its random grabbag of questions they seeÅ?
Uh… probably? Usually the days are slow enough that if you just ask it 1-3 times they’ll answer it eventually
Aaron (or if he’s done someone else does I guess) reads them out from their other monitors
Alright. Again thanks for clearing things up! Cheers
What I would give to see some of the weapons/tools from DRG Survivors make it into Rogue Core. Especially the various Drones/Constructs since we seem to have Classes that spec in some unique builds, like Falconer being a Drone Wielder.
Bouncing what?
i'm kind of hoping we see some broken down rival operations as ambience
or as a possible secondary final boss
like if you do something that alerts the rivals of your location it will summon a rival ship at the core
I dont think the rivals would be anywhere in there considering the exterior barriers that surround the exponite mines
If any had got there before, they would have been destroyed by the dwarves that came there down before the greyout
We might have our own new seasonal stuff down there anyways.
Gun that shoots bouncing bullets
I don’t know how to spell the name
Did you get your questions answered yesterday?
it seems to be only rafkan and corespawn from the trailers, but is there a chance that we see fully grown glyphids in rogue core?
the spawn menu had others
like, a stage up from dreadnaughts
they said they weren't going to have glyphids in RC, I think
One can only hope
Also, what is the lore explanation for why the reclaimers need to go to each individual stop to upgrade their weapons? wouldn't drg have the most success just loading them up to the max level and sending them into the core?
apparently that didn't work
dang
not sure if it was confirmed why, I heard something about a barrier
there's a "wall" of sort that keeps technology from working, that's why they go in naked and get weapons and equipement from the site instead
sounds like a cool barrier
I hope theres some additional lore of karl
Everyone knows him but noone knows the legend behind his name
What a shame
the second it's less of a mystery, it becomes less fun and intriguing
Hmmm
We should know at least why he became legend tho
I’m not expecting every details of karl
I am expecting full Karl lore, I need his social security number, date of birth, mother's maiden name and blood type

We're focusing on the Corespawn, so I highly doubt it.
Who's Karl?
Theres imposter(leaflover) among devs
I wonder if there's a lore reason why the Glyphids aren't in the depths as the corespawns
I think It couldn’t handle the pressure
Gravity**
gravity gets weaker the deeper you go though???
maybe they're territorial? something keeps them alive down there and since they're essentially stronger than glyphids they keep the glyphids away?
Wth is wrong with my finger today
primal fear at corespawn I guess
If DRG could settle on the depths of Hoxxes and be able to do such huge mining operations without the glyphids intervening like the usual, that means something
I wonder how expensive expenite is compared to morkite
I'm pretty sure Morkite is just like some more precious kind of oil in the DRG universe though
the pressure the planet exerts crystallises Morkite
Expenite could do something else
Something more... Valuable
Like superconductors or sth
It is up to speculation after all since R&D keeps these things a mystery
Tru
wasn't morkite a redesign and the original was helium-3 which is like a theoretical superfuel or whatever
since with it as a fantasy mineral they can do whatever they want with it
To infinity and beyond ahh material
the Morkite wells exist
I mean they already seem to have faster than light travel given they're out here to begin with so kinda curious what could make morkite still more impressive
Deep Scans are essentially research missions for collection of Morkite Seed samples
Morkite is a beer ingredient
It’s for helldivers
Devs confirmed that a very long time ago
everything is a beer ingredient that's how dwarves work
Yikes we’re out of morkite again
But is DRG some kind of beer making corporation or something? lol
Most everything that gets mined/collected goes into beverage/weapon production, if you notice.
Even bismor?
bismor is used in upgrades but also in cosmetics
presumably what we get is just a small cut of what we actually mine
Probably a beer ingredient in the same vein as Moonshine being Jet Fuel.

We don't talk about Dystrum
Slightly rare rock basically
I do have a theory that Morkite is rocket fuel.
that soviet rocket that ran on alcohol that the engineers were drinking from the fuel tank of
Liver would be proud
You mean to tell me that we collect resources in order to use them?
are you telling me that you havent even been using error cubes this whole time?
You don't eat the cubes?
they taste like well-used highway and have the texture of regions of space no one's ever visited for those unlucky enough to never have eaten one
Unlucky?
They're a part of my balanced breakfast
Scrape them up into crispy slices and add some mactera milk
Error cube cereal
I wonder what Rogue Cores equivalent of a Bulk Det will be.
Or if we ended up getting some kind of Nigh-invincible Xenomorph-like enemy that prowls certain mineshafts that have lost power/sustained massive damage and would make for a bit of a segement where the team's gotta keep the noise down and stay vigilant or else.
You'd have to quietly rush to turn the power back on in certain segments of the Abandoned Facility as it will not enter/becomes vulnerable in the light.
👀
oh god please no
yeah i hope they aren't just mirroring all the glyphids
it doesn't seem like they are
There is a creature in the Rogue Core spawn menu called "Spider ExploderTankGhost Corrupted BXE"
he's my baby ❤️
I hope the enemies aren’t just different sprites, it would make zero sense for a krassus type enemy in the game. Also please not another grabber or sting tail. Do we think leeches will be in the game?
Will rogue core be keeping rock and stone
tbh the new dudes aren't miners
so they might not have any pride in their heritage, being as they do not mine like their ancestors
they might still add it though since it worked well in the first game
imagine they have some completely meaningless corporate-y phrase instead
"Let's get that promotion!"
lmao
variations on that
"For promotions and locomotion... or whatever they say up there"
For the record I am refunding RC if you can't rock and stone in it.
yeah that is kind of why i think they'll just add it anyways
then they'll just make some lore reason, like "oh the reclaimers used to be miners and still talk like them"
Tbh its gonna be its own catchy battle cry. They got their own culture, but are still dwarves.
They did say that until they find a better use for the v key rock and stone is staying
yes
Rogue and stone
We saw them rock and stone once I think
rogue and core!
Rogue and core!
Reclaimers are still dwarves yeah, it's impossible to have them not do their usual thing considering they're supposed to be the higher ranks of the DRG workforce
Even though, we don't have a bar in the Ramrod, they focus on getting stronger rather than getting drunk apparently
I wonder if Rogue Core will add worm enemies though
Gotta get those gains before a mission
Hoxxes surprisingly doesnt have worms
only maggots
and corpse feeders which are just maggots
Ooh what if
Hollow Bough gets mimics
Worms that mimic the spike vines

No
Imagine blackout stout in rogue core
imagine ||lootbugs in rogue core||
Dreadnought lootbug
Killing it crashes your pc because it drops an incalculable amount of gold chunks
it finally fights back
It eats dwarves because their equipment is made of metal
"you shouldn't wear delicious minerals - it'll get you killed"
Imagine a lootbug that eats ommoran heart stone and corestone at the same time
Ultimate power
Creating rifts and throwing rocks at you
The thing I would do for actual mimics that regurgitate voice clips...
Make them a rare event and if you kill one you get a new dialogue line for your dwarf 😌
The only way to get your dwarf to say "We're rich!" in RC
They should have a gym then
They do
oh sick
it looked like there was a bar IN the gym in that livestream
dwarfiest thing ever
Gym, a bar, a toilet, all we need is Rock and Stone where we're going.
according to ser pounce, there is apparently rock and stone
and there was much applause and adulation
yeah they confirmed that it would be on both
yeah, for early access it is pc
so pc players will get it for 6 months before they even think about a console release
Probably generous at 6 months
The steam page lists 18 to 24 months
well damn
for early access alone or the whole wait time?
They expect it to be in EA for 18 to 24 months
Based on the steam page could change at somepoint
ig since they delayed it already, I assume they'll either keep it on schedule or delay it again
the devs say that they have played dozens of hours, so i assume things are going according to schedule
i guess the console players have 3 years left then
maybe silksong will have released by then
What will we get first skong of rogue core EA
idek
silksong could shadow drop in the middle of july next year and i wouldn't be surprised
Gets launch announcement alongside the switch 2 trailer
silksong is definitely releasing next year (right guys?)
i kind of assume that they either remade the entire game in another engine, or they finished it and are working on fearless fox
yes! of course!!!!
(idk man)
If silk song is a similar thing to rogue core we may never know
3d roguelike silksong
what if silksong takes place on hoxxes 4 and all the bugs are actually just glyphids
the core is just the void
and the corespawn are vessels
Silksong rogue core crossover
nah it was planned the whole time to be this way
deep rock galactic was a sequel to hollow knight
team cherry made deep rock galactic, but when they looked at how distant their sequel was to hollow knight, they gave it to GSG. They atoned by making silksong
maybe silksong is hidden away within the depths of the rogue core
we will soon see
Silksong and hollow knight take place under a rock somewhere on hoxxes
I had a dream where I was playing the rogue core alpha
And then I woke up
And there was no rogue core
Now I am sad
what if rogue core is just a dream
Broke core
can't wait to get to the end of rogue core and discover it was all a halucination in the mind of a drunk dwarf
rogue core confirmed as a 'all in le head' game
That's probably Survivor tho
My headcannon is that DRG:S is a dwarf retelling a mission he went on. But greatly exagerating how strong he is.
that would explain stun sweeper being effective
any word on when rogue core will be in early access? I am super excited to start playing.
Q4 2025. You can see the roadmap and other info in the pinned messages of this channel
rogue core
Oh, hi there! Real life took a hold on me, work, painting dwarf minis for presents, crashing on sofa until 11 pm etc. I should be more responsive me and all these Qs in my nogging! Alright.. might be a " small wall of text " but do answer when able 🙂 : ❗ Just a headsup. Im partly asking for my younger siblings who LOVE DRG but dont bother with Discord. And they kinda hope for at least RC to have all them colors linked to the awesome new classes you are brewing ( their favorites are purple and orange x) Im also into design and love how colors play a major role in say class identification in DRG/ RC case❗ Questions incoming.....-...
So! my questions
1: Will the Blue, Yellow, Red, Green color coded Scout, Driller, Engineer and Gunner be someday avaiable in Rogue Core? There potentiale there. And why not?
2: Will the Rogue Core classes be hardlocked into each a color team like the DRG classes? Or change color theme from a color wheel on to our own liking?
2a: IF the DRG classes will come along, added later. Would be nice to see their classic color theming are reserved for them. So that less used colors in gaming for classes like orange, violet, gray, teal, magenta, lime, brown/ coffee can be used.
2b: IF the current DRG classes will NOT at all ( which is baffling ) be included. Would love to see the 6 main colors form the Color Wheel to be prioritized. aka Blue, Yellow, Red ( pigment primaries ), Orange, Violet and Green ( pigment secondaries ). Other classes could have pigment tertiaries like Teal, Magenta, Amber etc. Just thoughts, not demands
3: Will all other classes have some form of melee as backup weapons, besides the Slicer class? Like, the Slicer will seemingly have the utmost focus and dedication to all things melee, with awesome energy bladed ( and concussive ,energy blasting blunt instruments ) foe gutting
4: What are the color themes for?: Guess wait and see ? 😉
What my guesses and observation of the live streaming are, out of curiosity
Falconeer:
Slicer:
Spotter: Orange?
Guardian: Purple?
Gorgon:
5: Even though it seems that RC will follow a player max cap of 4 per mission and its more free-form ( yet each class are unique ), are there any plans to increase the cap to a nice even 6 later on?
6: Enemy infighting? Im sure there will be enough foes to go around. I found it very ( even if there could be an in-universe explanation ) odd that infected, bots and bugs ALL co-operated on destroying our dwarfs? Will there be a change to this in Rogue Core?
5: Even though it seems that RC will follow a player max cap of 4 per mission and its more free-form ( yet each class are unique ), are there any plans to increase the cap to a nice even 6 later on?
no, probably not
6: Enemy infighting? Im sure there will be enough foes to go around. I found it very ( even if there could be an in-universe explanation ) odd that infected, bots and bugs ALL co-operated on destroying our dwarfs? Will there be a change to this in Rogue Core?
also very unlikely, considering it can causes performance issues - and would fit the theme even less than in DRG
everyone has melee backup because the pickaxe is still a thing
i still wish we got cave leeches randomly grabbing glyphids
it would be funny af
oh yeah, they are mining expenite
i wonder if pickaxe will be upgradable and people will have 1000% pickaxe damage boost builds
probably not
this plz
Literally me too
I hope the sword class will allow you to scale the crap out of your melee
saeeeeeeeem
Wonder if we're gonna be seeing more traditional firearms in the DRG style in Rogue Core
A lever action rifle could be cool
M1000 future
That's the M10000
The M2000
M40k
Epic crossover event
And after M1000 "FOR DEMOCRACY" Edition
when do we see actual gameplay did the devs say anything about that?
still seems like its in the very early stages but i know jack shit about game dev
did you watch the "on the horizon" stream?
it's pre alpha, but it still is something
it is in early stages, yeah
that's why the closed alpha isn't even around until Q2 2025
i did
🫡
Wasn't it q1 previously? Did we get pushed back again or am I misremembering?
it was November 2024 before, then a delay with no given date, then Q2 2025
so Q1 was more of a logical conclusion than an actual date 🤔
Its indeed VERY early stages. No harm in guessing and wishing though * whistles *
Yeah didnt except max player cap. Totally fine by me. And yeah, performance problems shouldnt be a thing for RC. Dont want to risk a rocky launch of the game due to different enemies fighting dwarves and each other. Would love the utter chaos though!
It's not even sure we'll see different "families" in RC either so the chances of infighting might not even be present to begin with
rafkan, shatterclaw and corespawn are different families though? Like mactera to glyphids who presumably fight one another offscreen
Yeah. I admit, its a bit odd in DRG that rockpox, bots and standard native wildlife is all chill which other and gang up on us dwarfs when it seem they logically should rip each other apart. But hey! Theres hints of lore reasons and also makes use of phermone tools and weaponry more impactful
it's a gameplay over lore thing
indeed
Making this a separate game instead of a game mode is a mistake
if only you had bothered to check the many FAQs pinned in this chat
where are the first 2 from?
devlogs or news?
the On The Horizon stream
I don't think rockpox has complete mind control over glyphids
Not of fan of the arrogance of your assumption of ignorance. I’ve watched the streams, read the FAQs and watched & read & listened as in the same breath it’s been called a standalone game that its own thing, built with DRG, and even saying how “DRG was a live a service game” (indicating the intention to shut it down despite the claims otherwise) & then quickly backpedaled.
The fact is, there is no reason to do this, technologically speaking. You can just bootstrap one system over another depending on the game mode.
I’ll grant that it does make it easier to maintain and manage by not having to think about namespacing types, materials, meshes, and scripts across two systems, as well as patch deployment schedules and packaging, those are all true costs, I’ll give you that, but there is no fundamental technological limitation barring it from being a game mode rather than a standalone game you can still make Rogue Core anything you want within the context of it being a game mode because it is fundamentally built on DRG as a foundational element with different systems swapped out.
I’ll even grant that y’all probably learned a lot since you made DRG and probably are ready to ditch some of that code, but that’s still not a technical limitation like what’s being claimed.
The choice of making it standalone segregates the player base, alienates long term supporters by forcing another full price purchase for what are essentially modifications & expansions to the same games (plural; DRG + Survivor) that they already bought.
I bought the original game on every platform and bought more than 10 copies for friends & family across the various platforms on which it is distributed. Bought every supporter pack, cosmetic pack, you name it. I bought Survivor too & it feels like I’m just buying it again wrapped in DRG.
Cosmetics will not transfer, even though the entire game was built on top of DRG by ripping out the loadout system & shoving in the Survivor systems–A slap in the face
DRG's weapon system cannot change a weapon's stats during a mission without instability (this being the reason the firing range isn't a reality). Rogue Core, for its upgrade system, needed to be able to do that, which I believe is the main reason for the split. I guess they didn't want to add a whole new game-sized addition to DRG and double its size, though admittedly that still wouldn't be a lot to store anyways.
And as you said, plenty of people have bought every DLC and still want to support the devs more, so I don't know why there'd be complaints now that a new piece of content from GSG to support them with is coming out. It's a different experience, with a similar setting but a different theme and altered gameplay loops both long-term and short-term, and presumably the lack of cosmetic transfering is due to it being a different long-term progression system too, seeing as you can't upgrade your weapons out of a run.
I don't see an issue with this segregting the playerbase, either. Most every DRG player plays plenty of other games, not comitting all of their time to DRG itself, so aside from players focusing on one or the other depending on recent updates once both are running in parallel (which already happens, because those players also focus on the other games they play when they in turn recieve updates) it won't detract from DRG much more than any other major game releasing would. There's not some us-versus-them situation where players can only choose one; most people will probably play both or stick with DRG if they don't like roguelites.
Originally it was, but they realized they could make it way better by removing it from the constraints of the base game
"The fact is, there is no reason to do this, technologically speaking. You can just bootstrap one system over another depending on the game mode."
In a perfect world there wouldn't be, but there actually is. DRG has evolved into a massive beast and all the systems are intertwined. As the game has grown, so has the scope, to the extent that adding something like new primary weapons is a gigantic task, as that means 4 weapons x 6-8 overclocks and 4 x 12 modifications + 4 x 17 frameworks, not to mention the paintjobs that has to fit. We've shaped the game as we've gone along, and that has allowed us to make a better game that aiming at a goal set years earlier. The cost has been technical debt, and interesting, but probably a less modular/optimal framework to work within.
While Rogue Core has DRG DNA, it's not DRG and not just a game mode. It's a new loop, with new systems, potentially a lot more classes and old and weapons that you pick up during a run that aren't class specific. It's not a deep dive with roguelike elements at all. It might not be for people who like DRG, and that's fine. It might appeal to people that doesn't like DRG, and that's fine too. Point it that it's related, but significantly far removed from the original concept, and it deserves it's own shell, and not being tagged onto something that is great on it's own. We're very happy with how DRG has turned out, and once we have Rogue Core in a place where we want it, we'll look at what the future for DRG holds.
'While Rogue Core has DRG DNA, it's not DRG and not just a game mode. It's a new loop, with new systems, potentially a lot more classes and old and weapons that you pick up during a run that aren't class specific. It's not a deep dive with roguelike elements at all.'
Holy hell! Its like a new game
Fair. And if the game is set prior to timeline of events in DRG then the cosmetics and gear would not exist, which nullifies the transferability argument/concern.
The way you described it makes sense.
I think the way that things were communicated in the “on the horizon” stream were problematic.
They made it sound like DRG was still being used as the base, and I assume it is the basis from which this grew and the base of the survivor systems are likely similarly the base from which RC’s systems of classes and upgrades and equipment were derived, if even loosely to transition from top down to FPS.
They indicated that the cave generator had been essentially retooled into a new mode, which, from a software engineering player’s perspective, sure does just sound like adding restrictions to the verticality and complexity of the cuts made to a cave system and then the rest is essentially biomes.
While not insignificant, it’s not like starting with whole cloth like what had to be done with DRG.
I’ve already indicated I’m a big supporter. I’ve been here since the beginning and watched when the perk systems got added and helped work through the base movement speed fiasco that made the game feel like molasses and lose its sense of flow. I don’t have a problem paying for quality and heart. Clearly. DRG felt like a complete game before it launched from Early Access.
So forgive me, as I go about my life, daily, seeing the perpetual erosion of value in our every day lives in every single thing we buy.
Because the way I see it, greed is ruining the entire world right now and I don’t want it to ruin GSG and DRG, because some of the best people I’ve met have been down in those caves and the game got me through a bad time.
Looking forward to seeing what you all do with this.
Thank you for your response.

The game is set to happen at the same time as DRG events. S5 was the introduction for Rogue Core.

It is used as a base when it comes down to its skeleton and basic gameplay feel, but that and the art and setting is pretty much all they share.
Survivor is made by an entirely different studio, in an entirely different genre, while DRG itself was already using roguelite elements for its gameplay.

then I think you can see how much Rogue Core can and will evolve into it its own thing over time, given what we've seen right now is just pre-alpha stuff and the game isn't event yet in its infancy.

I personally don't see where the concern comes from. If GSG had any attention to be greedy, they could have done so already with DRG and its seasonal and season pass system - yet they didn't. They've given us no reason to worry about that and I think that deserves a little trust from our part.

Thanks for clarifying. I misread what MD said, and I appreciate you pointing that out. I haven’t had the chance to play this season yet, but it’s good to know how it ties into Rogue Core.

That may be true but they’re both under the umbrella of GSG publishing and so are probably very aware of the various approaches the other studios are taking or considering and why they did what they did. It’s still not from whole cloth, but maybe survivor itself used roguelite elements from DRG, I don’t know.

I don’t know about you, but I’m fresh out of hope to give to the industry as a whole right now. I’m not doing pre-orders or hopping on anymore hype trains or waiting with bated breath. I’m just trying to reasonable expectations. Do I want it to be awesome? Yeah I do, but the tone of the first response I got to my concerns—dismissive, condescending, and frustrated—didn’t set a great precedent. I get it, I’m late to the chat, but these concerns haven’t been fully addressed. I care about the game and if that message that is apparently so obvious never reached me. That is a problem.

The same has been said about countless developers before they fully embraced capitalistic “ensh*ttification.” All I’m saying is that I’m getting those vibes now, and I don’t like it. You don’t have to agree, but GSG should know how this feels to some long-time supporters. That’s why I’m voicing it.

"Bullet heaven" or "survivor games" (or whatever you feel like calling them) are roguelites games as well, to an extent. But to be fair, the framework of roguelite games is pretty broad and a lot of games kinda fall within this margin without sticking to it entirely.
Among the common mechanics they share:
- Procedurally generated environment
- Meta-upgrades
- Run-based game cycle, where you start a run and die/win just to repeat it again
- RNG elements within a run, which can take various aspects.
- Usually not story-driven or very little so
You can see DRG hit a few of those marks already but so do a lot of other games. And some roguelites themselves take steps away from it (like Roboquest, despite it being a roguelite through and through).
You can expect Rogue Core to lean into all of those elements much more than DRG does.

I'm in the same train but I just don't get the doom-posting when it comes to studios who have been doing good work and upholding their values even when they could have trashed them given the opportunity but chose not to.
Yeah, the industry is getting shittier but isn't that the reason we should hold dear what isn't currently shitty ?
My answer is my own. I do not work for GSG and I do not represent them past the "police" job I'm doing. Yeah I've been a bit rude in my answer but I've also had to deal with uninformed people posting this same thing weeks after weeks and it just gets tiring when the answers are literally one search on reddit/steam/pinned message away. So I just jumped to the usual stuff I see here and there.
I just don't see the appeal of generalizing every studio as being one, greedy entity.
If a solo independent game deve is able to be non-greedy, then it must be assumed that a group of developers are also able to be non-greedy, considering that it is also possible for a group of game developers to be working together because they are passionate about their work, rather than overwhelming desire for profits. I think that if a single example for this case is true, then it is possible that GSG can work in this way and the gloom is unwarranted.
I think you wouldn't be attracted to drg or rogue core either if you truly believed it to be consumed by corporate greed
I also hope it turns out to be a good game, like it seems to be, rather than an expensive rehash of gameplay that has already been done, but I think that everyone here is hoping that.
oOOoo, some back and forth to read while I smugly sip on my ice water
Lol, same
Well, a Beltalowda having distrust for companies from the home planet is nothing new. (If ya know ya know)
But I'm glad it was peacefully resolved
And nothing of value was lost.
If you're going to leave on a tantrum because a moderator tell you to stop bringing up politics and delete the related messages after you broke the rules, might as well not have wasted your time getting in the discord in the first place.
Lol, I saw 4 pings for this chat, and I'll never know what they were
I assume it's a deal with the bigger threat then kill each other sorta thing
maybe the rivals have better stealth technology
Glyphid Swarmer and Shredder wearing a trenchcoat and a hat, hiding behind the corner, Shredder nudges a briefcase to the Swarmer, Swarmer opens it, it's full of credits (hexagon cookies probably), Swarmer nods to the Shredder and takes the briefcase, they both take the trenchcoat and hat off and go attack the Dwarves, Scout already died to fall damage. 3 Dwarves left...
*Fin*
Drg the movie coming to theaters soon
you were replied to by that one guy a few times. I don't think he said anything that he hadn't said in a previous message
all the messages were deleted because of politics
Something something garbage opinion evil corpos, down with the man Johnny Silverhand style.
he stopped talking about drg and just started talking about greed and the nature of man
We play this game to escape from politics
Drank too many smart stouts
wasn't he talking about a tv show
cocktail between pot o' gold and smart stout
makes you discuss the economy
With a bit of leaf lovers by the elves
it would be funny if they added cocktails that gave smart stout different dialogue
maybe in rogue core
I'm looking forward to the beers in rogue core personally
yeah, maybe we'll get some new stuff
steroid stout
makes your gym gains 2x
instead of passing out when you drink too many, you simply die
i hadn't seen them before, but i just noticed the ones where they can choose a movement option
and one with pipelines
i wonder how they will implement pipes
THERES NEW SCREENSHOTS
The pipes there don't look very rideable
I'll feed all the Rogue Core footage we have into an AI and have it recreate Rogue Core without love and passion
thank goodness for ai
we'll finally get to see what rogue core would look like if the devs were actually just bosco drones
Bosco has more passion than a generative system like that
Can't wait to try out placeholder
error cube: the video game
oh yeah, you are a playtester
so you actually get to try it
epic
guys, do you think that this game will have actual melee or do you think it'll just be the pickaxe and that onesuit ability?
Hmmm it's not a bad idea

the latter
Now, do you think the game will have ladders?
confirmed in the trailer
yay
this game is approved by the ladder authority
I would like to hope there is going to be a few melee weapons
We just established there would be ladders
Can’t wait to uh… swing it at core spawn?
Damn right
same, like in CoD where you have a dedicated melee but it takes one of your gun slots.
we also know that there will be drills in this game, which is sort of like a melee weapon. I wonder if you could upgrade it to be strong
MAYBE even a shovel
lol, it would be funny if you could find random weapons like shovels or debris and upgrade it
stuff that is fully unrelated to the weapon cache that you could access, but has some upgrades that are on-par with the other weapons
maybe smth like a hydro-cannon, modified oil collection laser, or a broken piece of one of those big mining machines
also possibly a gimmicky gun that security guards would have used
it could quickly shoot slowdown goop or smth that detains enemies
I don't think security guards on Hoxxes would shoot anything short of live ammunition
possibly
so they might have smth good
tbh if they added subata in this way, it would probably be a better option than letting it dilute the drop pool
just take it from a guard
eh, issue is why would you ever take it if it was bad
vs
why would you ever NOT take it if it was good
some of them could just be cool
like, a hydrocannon would be awesome
also, if they can be upgraded, it would definitely be on par with other stuff.
I think other games that do this will add a limit on how long you can use items like this, giving them some durability
but yeah, you make a good point
it could just result in an area of the game being decimated by 4 dwarves with op hydrocannons, right before they break
It could also work without the durability if it is a specific weapon that fulfils a niche really well, but is otherwise not very useful- in that case, it may result in a team hunting for it so their team member who is building for it can play their build
It's a big maybe. Most of our gameplay revolves around shooting.
so, if someone were to try using that sword and the drills (to be somewhat of a melee build), would they be able to upgrade them to be competitive with other weapons? Will you guys go more in depth on how upgrades work at some point?
What do you mean competitive with othe rweapons?
will they be able to be upgraded to be as usable as shooting weapons in fighting enemies/bosses?
Edit: i guess i mean, could someone reasonably play an entire run without using a gun
I think drills probably won't be. They're utility tools after all.
Well we don't have any traditional Melee weapons in the game.
Right now the Suit power is on par with other suit powers, while pickaxe and drills work the same as in Deep Rock.
However you ARE able to increase their damage overall and get certain effects through upgrades that can make them usable as weapons, however that relies heavily on the upgrades you recieve throughout a run.
A true Karl run, get so lucky with upgrades that your pickaxe kills everything
We haev ideas for mele upgrades, so there should be plenty chance for it to happen
melee upgrade for a gun would go hard
bayonet for the m1k or something
although keybinding that might be weird
I hope we get three pickaxes taped together
Add a drill and we've got a beyblade
It plays the soundeffect of a pinball colliding with something each time it hits
Unstable oc
I have a feeling this game will be based around karl
karl is actually the name of the core
but seemingly, the devs have denied the existence of karl in this channel, so I think they won't do anything with him
we'll see
considering they arent planning any seasons that are based around trying to find karl in drg they might try to make the objective of rogue core about karl
Karl lore is gonna stay the same as it it now: mysterious
it's an appealing mystery precisely because we don't know anything about it
in rogue core you are diving deeper right?
All we know is that Molly the Drone carries our Minerals, and we shoot bugs corespawn in mine. The dwarven life in a nutshell.
Imagine if we ever find a cracked omorran shell with a pickaxe lodged into it and nothing else
that'd be funny
A sort of "Karl was here" easter egg
what even are ommoran shells anyways
magic sentient rock
is the core of the planet an ommoran shell but just big
and apparently they're costing a lot of money and can make energy/weapons
that's about all we know
to me rogue core looked like it was less focused on the goofy mechanics of the game like in drg
rogue core looks more serious
the caves look scarier and more dangerous
which makes me believe the game might be more focused on the lore this time
devs already said the lore will be approached in the same way as DRG
which is: you won't know much outside of bits and pieces here and there
sad
yeah but that just leaves the lore to rot
people more interested in pinging mushrooms instead of looking at the lore perspective of the game
no, it leaves up to the player's imagination
I don’t play DRG for the lore. I play it because it’s fun. If you want a game with deep lore then go play dark souls or something.
the lore is fine
you know what you need to know and the mystery leaves a lot to the imagination
if they just bonked you in the head with the answer to every mystery in the games universe it would be a lot less interesting
i want to see the BEEG dreadnoughts though
Wouldn't say the lore has been left to rot if it was rotten i doubt there would be as much interest getting more as their is now
we will get new lore
they need to tell us like, who the fuck the reclaimers are, more about the corespawn, things of this nature
Rogue cores lore will probably even explain some of the unanswered questions from drg
Or atleast expand on them
I want all the video game lore, currently playing pong. Can anyone tell me when the lore gets more interesting?
Drg lore? There's a few I suppose, like what they use the alien eggs for
The less lore I know, the less holes I can poke when they add stuff
indeed
leaving a lot to community interpretation is a really good disguise for lazy lore crafting imo
it only gets crazy when the dwarves start singing frank sinatra and listening to classical music on the jukebox
before then, it somehow holds up
jk- lots of the dialogue opens up a bunch of weird loopholes and lore
I'd rather have the devs focus on building up the game's mechanics than trying to cram in lore in a game that doesn't really care for it and don't get much out of it. So i see this as an absolute win.
yeah, they kind of take the nintendo approach
why not have... both? not like we couldn't?
you're talking as if it's one or the other, it's absolutely not
Probably because the devs aren't really interested in it, simple as
I have played tons of games that both have great gameplay and great lore... why do you think GSG wouldn't be capable of that too?
I am sick of "lol fill in the blanks yourself" I wanna see what they got, I think they could write up some crazy good stuff if they actually tried
I don't know if they're capable of it or not, I'm just saying they don't seem to be interested in it.
If they ever want to develop it more, I'm up for it. But doesn't seem like they want to - at least so far.
Maybe things will change as they make RC.
don't care about the holes, I just want to see them actually do something other than the usual two tiny bits of information and "fake it till you make it" the rest
but at this point, it's a bit too late as many people have their own expectations and would just end up disappointed
so if they ever want to make something lore heavy, best to make it through another universe
where would you have them add the lore, assuming they went with your idea?
We better hear more about Karl's cousin Carl
I wouldn't want to be involved in any of that because I wanna see what they'd add by themselves
I want to see what they literally got without community influence, I know what I got, I made an entire series where I made-up a bunch of explanations for biome features
i guess i'm just wondering how they could add lore in the gameplay loop. Not for rogue core, but in drg, maybe they could have lost packs drop a journal entry? rogue core could have some terminal that makes the lore more concrete? I don't really see how they could add lore to the game. at some point, it makes the game feel less "present"
the lore that does exist is seemingly very expansive, going back to when the dwarves were in some mountain brotherhood cult while they were on earth
i'm almost certain we'll get some more information about DRG as a company from rogue core
during drg's development they planned to add a lore terminal, this later became the miner's manual
Lore doesn't have to be apart of the gameplay at all. The MM already gives a ton in the beastiary. Just more stuff like that is what I would personally prefer. Though tbh I don't think Lore for the sake of Lore is very interesting, it needs some sort of goal. Setting the table doesn't mean much if there's no food.
Story mode or I riot
what if it was a game board like Mario Party
I just want more flavor lore like we have for the beastiary and guns. We'll learn about the Aliens of Hoxxes eventually on our own.
All we know is they had to be sea dwelling and primarily lived in the Weald
The flavor is beer, all of it.
I want this to come out already.
rouge core
Rock are coin stone are star

mission control is bowser
No, the objective is to reclaim DRG facilities.
Karl's facilities*
Karl can't be contained
The truth is out there, so is Karl.
Sounds like Karl is going Rogue
can we join him
In 2025
Karl ignores extraction and doesnt afraid of anything
will the reclaimers have fingernails
cuz dwarves dont have fingernails, just curious
Is the core of Hoxxes IV sentient
Considering we have many cases of sentient rocks
I mean like it's only two cases but that's still to specific
That would also explain the rouge core thing
There is a decent amount of legitimacy to the theory that hoxxes is alive
I would say it’s a pretty solid theory right now
you ever listened to the screams the meteors make? I don't think all of those sounds are the meteor itself
same might go for the eggs, which would I guess somewhat explain why they're growing flesh on the outside of them instead of the inside, if they're more like seeds
i doubt it
if this game is in UE5 it's over
Fairly smooth upgrade process outside of the stuff that broke
im also pretty sure ue5 forces taa which looks damn ugly
im all for this game but i hope they make it playable on regular systems lmao
That's a developer issue AFAIK
Dead by daylight, fortnite, Tekken 8. All UE5 games I haven't seen any performance compliants about
Roboquest is UE4
Still runs good
Either way i suspect rogue core will probably still have a higher minimum then dr
G
If only slightly
Most likely yeah
I am prepared to lower my graphics settings
And once some mods exist I will install every mod that removes particle effects
I willl continue to enjoy my particle having privileges
I would if I had a pc that could run the game at at least 70+ fps with particles
Dr G
Fortnite shits itself every time it has to do anything particle related
Also the lobby and drop in are always horrible for everyone no matter what in my experience
DRG also suffers whenever it has to do anything particle related that's what particles do
Is this just drg 2 or sumn
Idk i have maxed graphics and i get like 200 fps
no it's a whole different game, just in the same DRG universe. There's more info in the pinned comments of this chat if you haven't seen them yet
From the trailer the gameplay looked basically the same idk
the assets were reused in the trailer
but kinda yeah, you will still collect minerals, and you still shoot stuff
the purpose of collecting minerals and finding events is just getting roguelite upgrades now
the game is a rogelite if you didn't know
and yeah, check pinned
basic gunplay and movement will be the same/ similar. The difference will mainly be the roguelite elements
artstyle is also going to be the same (low poly style)
I´ve added at least 5 more polygons to Rogue Core! It will be wild!
jokes asides, love the RC art so far
Still hoping we get a DRG artbook one day 🥺
I just love looking at concept art
Have you made 4K beard textures yet?
Lmao I'm imagining 4k beards, hair physics just crashing the game 😂
70% of the game size is beard textures and beard physics code
95% of the bugs are caused by beard physics, speedrunners use beards to go out of bounds and glitch through objects, extreme lag known beard side effect, and bugs get stuck in beards
sign me the heck up :3
you run into your friend and you're suddenly flung 16,384 meters upward into the void and insta brick your game
(because of your teammate's beard flapping in the wind which has collision issue)
Oppressor attacks you, gets launched by the beard into a nemesis
closed beta is coming in Q2 next year
hadnt heard of any news yet
good to know
with a bit of luck I can get in like the closed beta for drg
but back then it was a lot easier, cuz the game was nearly unknown 🥲
check the pinned messages for current roadmap and a link to all the recent news
ah its gonna be a closed alpha
the game will release publicly in early access as beta then, I presume
early access is coming in Q4 2025, yeah
I would say that early access is not quite the same as a traditional beta which should be content complete but needing some polish, optimization, and bug fixing.
With EA we are not content complete but instead try to have the content that is there be in good working order
seeing the acronym 'EA' is a real jumpscare

Don't you know? They partnered with EA. You'll have to pay $1.99 for every upgrade. Or you can reduce it to just 1$ if you subscribe to the monthly battle pass for $15/ month

Guys, do we know the price of the new game? c:
6 decillian dollars
Pins
Same ish price as drg iirc
thx
Pin this
prob cheap during early pregnancy and 30€ when 1.0
Is that how games get created?
yep
🤣
You just saw the letter EA now you need to pay 2 dollars because get scared is a dlc

I know this is ever so slightly off-topic but Electronic Arts can go eat a dick
pregancy?
how is videogame formed
When a engine and a game dev love each other very much
Would pay triple for an early access to the early access.
If it follows drg, it should be around 15 dollars in its early access, and 30 dollars in it's 1.0
That's what someone told me
Nice, thx
first rogue, then core
Depends on the game
Some games are formed by devs buying assets in unreal engine.
adoption [?!]
Or by devs not knowing how to model properly and making everything ten million polygons
Or are they pushing the boundaries of what is possible? No one knows.
Mind. Blown. 🤯
perhaps if the model is a deciliion polygons then it will look good
One of the things I love about DRG is that it looks good even though it doesn’t have that many polygons
the lighting helps a lot
we need the drg version of the Dooty Launcher from Strike Force Heores 2
Oh my god somebody still remembers that game
Marry me or something /j
guys, for rogue core can we play as a baby dwarf in early access. then as the game gets updates and gets closer to 1.0 we grow up and become adults
and for the alpha we play as a fetus or something
Can we get more sandwiches? I really want to see a sandwich to counter the hexagifus skaler. I hate that boss. The phase 2 is actually bullshit. Who made it be able to pull you 30 decaillion miles away??
Will a build focused on the class weapon be possible? Mostly because I wanna get some clips of mowing things down with Slasher and put Power of the Saber Blade over it lmao
I'd hope so
would be a missed opportunity otherwise
Yes, there'll be two systems that do this: Level ups and artifacts, and the bio boosters.
The bio boosters are heavily focused on the class and ability, compared to the level ups and artifacts that are a bit more free-form.
However, not all classes have weapons specific to their class.
The Spotter (WIP) and Guardian don't have any weapons.
Guardian shields in some way and Spotter highlights enemies?
That's a secret for now 🙂
but no, they don't do either of those things.
I am good at keeping secrets, and everyone else in this chat promised they won't look
I have a question
Will there be multiple shotgun round types in rogue core?
There's a sawn-off shotgun and combat shotgun, so i guess? BUt there's no ammo types. Just different weapons.
Some kind of ability to load a special round that’s like a grenade or a slug or some other special round would be cool, maybe as an activated perk or something?
Not unlikely that could happen. Nothing in the game as of now though.
THat is very, very likely.

Hopeful
Imagine the reclaimers just carrying a little freezer around and one of them has the idea to store the shotgun shells in there. Boom, cryo shells
freezing a solid slug to make it explode into fragments on impact
You got the maggots in magma core that could do that 👀
Is the game gonna be community translated again?
I'd say nearly guaranteed, looking at drg
Minigun with flaming bullets, subata with acid bullets, stubby's whole existence,
I'd be confused if there weren't elemental bullets
I think they were saying how it would be not weapon unique
For example, loading electric shots into the boomstick
Or acid into an assault rifle
No plans, but I think so
There still are weapon unique ones, such as flamethrower, etc. but the idea is that it can have added elemental effects.
Sounds interesting; definitely will add to replayability with the amount of possible weapon combinations
Taking from just DRG here, I'm imagining later on in a run you could start finding overclocks. Either someone could slot it into a weapon they have, or scrap it if no one wants it.
But you don't know what overclocks are gonna show up. Your bread and butter ai stability engine might not show up and you'll get something like burst fire instead.
I feel like how weapon maintenance and promotions work in DRG could also fit in that scenario: Encouraging players to branch out and get at least a little experience with most builds.
Might want to put this in #rogue-core-suggestions
I’m hopeful they’ll do it like survivor, with certain upgrade combos allowing certain ocs into upgrade pools
Is everyone aware that they possibly revealed one of the new classes in the rogue core store page? Not sure if intentional but one of the screenshots show a guy playing as someone called 'spotter'. Dont know if its old news at this point i just noticed it recently myself.
Ye we know of the spotter
We know there is a class called spotter, and a class called guardian
The crumlets
Eyepatch, crippling alcohol addiction. That's not the spotter, that's Demoman
The Spotter pinging teammates be like
🫵
There's no hiding from me, Alien OR Dwarf!
Also I lowkey wanna see the Bug Trap 1.0 make a return. I know it kinda sucked in the beta but having a Trapper/Big Game Hunter dwarf in the reclaimers would be cool.
"Headhunter" would be what I call it.
Traps you, takes you out, takes your head as a trophy to boast to the other dwarves
🫵
HAHA, CAUGHT YOU WITH YOUR PANTS DOWN!

Whats the diff between rogue and galactic
They’re different games, rogue core is more of a roguelike, it is different enemies, new classes, new weapons, different upgrade systems, different story, new biomes, a focus on machinery in the caves, a new group of dwarves, and, hopefully, beer
Is it like drg endless mode?
I’m also most likely forgetting a lot. I’d recommend watching the rogue core section on the recent live stream
There is an end goal
Drg campaign mode?
They said length of runs was up in the air but I believe the current is around deep dive length
its missions are like missions in DRG, though longer and structured differently. Not a campaign
Roguelike
Drg x binding of isaac
End goal, but still the “new run” run formula
Yeah, seemingly
I don’t actually think we know if there’s unlockables, do we?
Something like “beat the game with x class, unlock x upgrades”
Has there been any mention of something like that? I can’t think of anything
What about locatedabovetimetellingdevices
Huh?
read the pinned messages for info
"we deliberately use the term Roguelite to signify that there will be a meta gameplay with permanent progression between missions."
It's vague but I assume there are based on this
im guessing like isaac x spelunky
Splunky!
Image you’re just having a great day mining some exponite in rogue core and you just see “a terrible chill runs down your spine…” appear on screen
THE GHOST DREADNAUGHT
Spider exploder tank ghost is real
You can just think about it like this.
Roguelite: Meta progressions/unlocks or power-ups before runs. (Rogue Legacy comes to mind)
Roguelike: Having all the systems already in place and learning through play. (Spelunky is a good example)
I am not a purist by any means but that's my way of differentiate one from the other.
The main focus for this month has been getting the development build into a stable state, so we can pick right back up in January without having to root around with a bunch of bug fixes and stuff.
One big element of that has been recalibrating the entire particle effects system. Long story short, the particle effects system in Unreal 4 was causing some instability issues with DRG. We want to make sure that stuff doesn't carry into Rogue Core, which we're developing in Unreal 5. But that requires going in and manually fixing the entire system -- roughly 1,100 different particle effects and triggers that need tweaking and reassigning. Sometimes that process takes 30 seconds, sometimes it takes 15 minutes. The team's had to do it all by hand, one at a time.
It's like if you were building a house with 1,100 different light fixtures, but then you learned all 1,100 light bulbs were faulty, so you had to go change every single one of them before you can keep building your house.
The team's been having a ton of fun with it! 🙂
From the GSG newsletter

gotta keep sharing even the little bit of news we have
I was thinking about mentioning it but thats way cleaner
yes
Particles will not murder performance as much big win
Hopefully it will put concerns about UE5 performance wise down a bit
UE5 has gotten much better since its early days
Thats also good gonna need for all that roguelite stuff with all the particles
WAIT
THE GUY IN THE MIDDLE
ITS THE SHATTERCLAW
Mikel said that it wasn’t quadrupedal, it’s grounded, and one of them has got an aoe attack
That’s gotta be the shatterclaw slammer
That guy looks terrifying too
New core spawn maybe, though also could just be art
I think we can lock that down as the shatterclaw design though there’s nothing else it could really be
design may change too
Yeah
It wasn’t in the development testing tab though so it’s probably going to look similar atleast
no cryo particles impact fix mod needed in rogue core?
based
Lets gooo
The shatterclaw slammer is real
is this rogue going to be like drg 2 or totally different game ?
Why does no one bother to check pinned messages?
check the pinned messages for details
i have
,
then you know the answer to your question
kiiiindaa no but i guess we will see it once gameplays drop off
Then you didn't read the pinned messages
which one there is like 10 pages of stuff
its ok ty
Game freezes and you get an 8-bit box that says "What a horrible night to have a curse."
It's not the shatterclaw 😉
it looks like a corespawn varient with its fake-face armor broken off
has the same spiky design elements and color scheme as the other corespawn in the picture
🙃
It’s not??? Hmmmmmmmmm
it's actually the Clattershaw. so close.
SHAW?
Are the reclaimers shorter than the normal dwarves? because the corespawn crawlers seem larger than usual in rogue core
they're dwarves just like the miners in DRG
the corespawn crawlers are just bigger
So they're putting child dwarves in the mines?
The children yearn for the mines
Minor miners
babby rock galactic
Gotta teach em young
The shorter a dwarf is, the more % of their blood is alcohol
Reclaimers of course, reach around 10% BAC
Yeah, the more I look at it the more I could see it with a mask
So it’s probably a corespawn, maybe what the oppressor is the pretorian because it’s around the size of the clamorhead
I mean they did say the game would have a darker tone.......
It's cheaper and their little hands can reach in places big hands can't
new game title was announced today: deep rogue rock core galactic
It’s actually pretty difficult to take three of these words and make a bad title
nope
crogue ore
So we will be more exploit for the company?

I mean more missions less pay

If even one team member doesn’t make it back you get no pay 😭
Lmao if you fail the mission they take your credit now

Your minerals are now forfeit
wdym 'make it back'?
🗿
Core galactic deep: rock rogue
Rogue deep core galactic

That is 4
Because is deep?
i wonder if the closed beta will have invites,, but idk if it would still count as a closed beta lol
We are going to get Rogue Core before Silksong 😭
we got the TF2 comic series completed before Silksong and Rogue Core
It’s suspiciously likely
I’d say it’s very likely that the beta happens before silksong, early access release i really hope not but it’s still feasible
today is a good day
I have been waiting so freaking long for silksong I am starting to stop believing
why are we comparing something that's been in the waiting for around a year to things that have been in the waiting since 6 and 8 years ago
running joke
no worries, we got a new challenger
gta 6
Don't worry, Rogue Core is coming out well before Silksong does.
Silksong is the actually the greatest thing for game devs, because anytime someone complains about a release date they are guaranteed to be hit with the “hasn’t been as long as silksong” and it works everytime
I don’t think I’ve heard major complaints about delays for a game in years
to be fair the common and perfectly valid retort is that a years-late release is better than a featureless buggy mess that will be patched into a playable state over those same years
early access, like Rogue Core and DRG before it, is the ideal between the two, I think
early access is nice but doesn't work for all kind of games - and all kind of devs
for sure
I will have 100%ed hollow knight before silk song comes out
Try telling that to the suits
The suits can suck it.
Still waiting for half life 3.0

nobody can beat that one i don't think, no
yeah xDD
Still waiting for red dead redemption 3 and bloodborne 2
for pc
Still waiting for tf3
Still waiting for left5dead
maybe on other dimension when gaben like the number 3
Still waiting for drg 2
Maybe they could do something like a rougelike with it
Still waiting for drg survivor 2
Ok im done
Is rogue core more like original drg or like survivors
It would be cooler if its more like original drg
I just finally watched the trailer for rogue core, and it looks so unbelievably hype
I understand why tbey decided to pause development on drg
I hope in rogue core we can make bunkies
They said they want fully destructible terrain I think, so yes.
Bunky core
Still waiting for Goat Simulator 2
I doubt rogue core's crawlers are going to let bunkers slide simply because of how tanky and fast moving they are
my impression of level structure attm is that the team clustering together is a shot to the foot (much like most of drg)
Enemy design as per usual is top notch. What I’m still eager to see is their take on the *roguelike powerscale
I think a class with multiple support tools is more or less halfway there. But enemies need to also scale with the dwarves, rather than just be static and tougher than drg enemies while the player slowly gets stronger
If they want to let players scale in crazy ways or use powerful synergies then tbh I think swarm size and even more varied lategame enemy spawns won’t be enough.
Then again some of the enemy designs they’ve shown seem really aggressive. So honestly it’s still too early to tell
rog cor
I hope a stalker equivalent makes a return. Or a tool that auto pings enemies within a certain distance, like that bio scanner from GTFO
I do somewhat hope that this may make its way to drg at somepoint
i wish that rouge core would have an immersive drop sequence, where you're actually in the pod or dropship instead of a 3rd person loading sequence with a computer voice saying "estimated time till landing 30 seconds" or something like that and flashing red light indicators when you're getting close to landing. Would be so awesome.
Does anyone know how much (or at least an estimate) rouge core is gonna cost?
5 hours in the mines
my guess is 15$ at EA
just a guess though
Alright, I was feeling like it was either gonna be 20 to 25 bucks, which either way, I'm happy to get it no matter how much its gonna cost
I don't know if the red square is a bot or not but I love it
As a joke they should add a rouge skin to the game
or people could learn to spell
