I think the key difference is rogue core is a roguelite whereas drg is not. Every run in rogue will, in theory, be different. Where drg you go into a run with a build and it doesn't change or get stronger over the course of a mission

GSG isnt planning on making extensive stories nor lore and have just let the community make theories based on the environmental story telling available in the game. Eg. You don't go into a mission with fully upgraded weapons, you get to pick from random upgrades during the mission. A mission consists of 5 stages, it'll probably take longer than an average DRG mission. No classes, but support tools are still in the game I believe.

Also not having to make upgrade trees for weapons should allow them to make a bunch of different weapons

If that thing is limited in supply, whoever got that item will be able to sell it profitably while people who buy it have to spend more in game credits for it. This will make DRG and Rogue Core people grind more which in turn keeps 2 games alive simultaneously
