My comment is not so much that there are bugs and that they fix them, it is the way how they did it. It was not professional.

Depends, if you are talking about a 5 error, that is a conflict error due to another anticheat or antivirus blocking. Some have found that completely removing McAfee (if you have it) or just turning off others works for them. The 12 and 21 may be sorted the same. Also remember, even after a fresh install to always verify the files before attempting to play. Some will pish phaw about how you only do it if you have a problem after trying to log in, but some have reported back that if they verify every time after install or update they have no issues. Just an FYI for anyone that runs into the Steam linking issue where you purchase through steam, but you can't link the accounts and Account Connections doesn't show Steam. I installed Steam and AoC on another PC and it opened the browser and linked my accounts without issue. I was able to launch on my primary PC and the game is playing now.

reconstruct is the ability the summoner uses to heal its vessel. recreate is the mystic's ability to heal the party. now, the tool tip does say healing power but in my experience it doesn't seem to be affected by healing power. maybe there's something i don't understand.

there are specific sport fishing sites, that will have birds circling in the air and a red icon on the map when you are close enough to them.

you have to use "chum" made at a cookhouse with either 50x fish for freshwater or 100x for saltwater, use the chum on the site for it to then become active for 1hr

also would want a rowboat to get into the site itself as there typically isnt anywhere to stand

need a lure from a sport fishing vendor at the harbor for each fish you plan to catch

need a crate mule to help transport said fish to the sport fishing vendor at harbor to sell after the fact

I am still unable to connect to the game despite the latest patches.
Below is a complete and consolidated report of the issue, along with all troubleshooting steps already performed.

Current issue
The game consistently crashes to desktop at the exact same moment during launch/connection.
This behavior has not changed across multiple patches.
Troubleshooting already performed (all without success)

Game / Software
Multiple complete uninstalls and clean reinstalls of the game
Steam file verification and repair
Deletion of the Config folder and remaining game configuration files
Third-party software
Fully removed any active VPN
Uninstalled Lagofast (and ensured it was fully closed before reinstalling the game)
Uninstalled Malwarebytes

System / Network
Disabled IPv6 on the network adapter (IPv4 only)
Checked firewall and antivirus rules
Performed full PC reboots between each major step

Network / ISP verification

To rule out any ISP or router-related issue (Orange), I installed the game on my wife’s PC, using my own Steam account, on the same internet connection.
→ The game launched immediately and works perfectly on that machine.

This confirms that:
The issue is not ISP-related
The issue is not account-related
The issue is very likely specific to my PC or a local software/hardware interaction

Additional information
All requested logs and diagnostic files have already been submitted through the official support process.

I wanted to provide a final update regarding my connection/crash issue, as I managed to resolve it on my side with a workaround.

Following advice from a friend, I did the following via Steam:

Right-clicked the game → Manage → Browse local files
Manually deleted all game files in the installation folder
Emptied the recycle bin
Relaunched the game
Steam reported the missing .exe, I validated the prompt
Relaunched again, which triggered a full reinstall from Steam

After this process, the game launched correctly and I was able to log in successfully.
The issue is now resolved on my end.

For additional context:
At the moment of the crash, I generated a DxDiag report, which I can provide if you would like to review my system configuration.

Anyone that has been here can tell you that everything we saw before the switch to UE5 was shitcanned beyond concept of what they wanted to do. So the guys statement is pretty spot on. I have been since the beginning and agree. So call it what you like. But a couple guys sitting around a Denny's putting ideas on a napkin is not "when development started". Pretty subjective answer. The population has been holding fairly steady since early access launch. It has massive problems with gold selling, RMT, and bots that Intrepid is working on. There are issues with logins and accounts. Pretty much all the normal alpha stuff. People who do get in and play are mostly reporting a good time, though there are always those that nitpick any decision that they don't like. And lots of data and feedback being generated for the studio. Hope this is what you were looking for.

So, the "timeline" is that they will come after the archetype audit. The audit is meant to be next in Q1. Depending on how long that takes, then the plan is to start iteration on the augment, class and level increase. Since Intrepid is infamous for not hitting timelines or dates, no one knows. If they get a quick handle on the various game breaking issues like queues, bots, RMT and others which allow them to actually focus on the content updates rather than putting out fires, could be sooner than later. But right now, the person telling you the summer is probably more realistic than Steven.

So imagine your server worker as a box. It has a set amount of volume that can be put into it (with UE5 that is around 200 concurrent players atm). As people are removed from the box, your queue number goes down, if more go into the box it slows down. Their "dynamic gridding" is meant to add more boxes as areas fill to capacity. But there is a limit on how many of those boxes get split into smaller boxes.

So as Steven put in the message before, if you log out in a high volume area, your queue is going to take longer, because it is not simply you counting down being the next in, it is affected by people running in and out of that box. And since we all know, people love to afk the day away, they are having issues.

They truly feel like they have no place in the current Alpha. Information circulating the internet about them is out of date and wrong, which is causing people (like myself) to go get excited to gather up a whole bunch of Epic Wood to craft an Epic Tier 1 Carriage, hoping to get more Cargo Capacity in the Caravan, just to find out that part has been nerfed and and Epic Tier 1 Carriage still only provides 1 Storage Height.
Why is such a core gameplay mechanic to make money so weak and nearly worthless right now?

If it is crashing for you, it may not necessarily be the game, I've been playing for a few hours, without any issues. It could be a setting within the game you need to adjust, or something within your computer configuration. IF others are able to play, but you are not, it definitely sounds like client side, not server side.

Fighter is fine for you! duo levelling can be VERY efficient if you find the sweet spot of mobs vs your levels. Play what you like. I levelled cleric twice basically solo and its not hard, just boring

solo? Dps. Groups? Support. You change it up. Mostly in groups you are a buff stacker and mana battery. But you can also do dps when needed. If there are multiple bards, you can spread it out. I went melee bard for solo leveling, and I use greatsword/bow. its fun stuff.

If you are talking about questing, the "curated" experience goes to around level 5. After that there is more questing available, but it is not pointed out to you, you have to go explore and find them. Questing currently can get you to around 16, with a difficulty spike around levels 10-12, which can be gotten over by town board commissions or gathering to make up the difference. This assumes mostly solo play in a themepark mentality.

You might be screwed on that one. They had an issue around Steam release with everyone wanting to move the UI and keybinds to the new client after a fresh install and Intrepid said NOT to do it because it caused issues. You just encountered a bug where having a friend helps. But generally the game isn't intended to be played 100% solo. It is an old school style MMO where solo only will prevent you from experiencing the entire game.

The intention is that if someone flags in a town the guards will immediately kill them. So they shouldn't be able to kill you unless you're out of range of guards. That location is pretty central though.

They would become flagged the second they hit you once. Guards react quickly are insta kill.

So they would have a hard time killing you instantly unless you're a very low lvl.

even as a solo, you can do one spell get flagged and then killed by guards, do the same over and over untill he is low. take off all your gear and kill him. Then you get corrupted and die by guards, now you have reset, you come back and loot die with his lott and then loot yourself free

Support anecdotally is around 3-5 days response during normal times here. These are not normal times. Every January because of the holiday the response time spikes to 2-3 weeks. Right now everyone is reporting back around 2 weeks. So you got a bit to wait. It does go back to normal in a few weeks.

If he had killed you without you attacking back, he would have become corrupt. If you had fought back and lost, you would have still lost a % of your gatherables, just less than if you don't fight back. There are currently no "safe zones" anywhere in Ashes. Though if you do become flagged or corrupted in settlements or on shrines guards may attack you and kill you. Once player housing is in, you will be "safe" inside the blueprint of your house, whether instanced or open world. But housing is not in game yet. CS almost never is looking here. Mods are always available, they just may not be looking at the screen. The easiest way is if you are on pc is to look for the red name showing a green circle (like Atom currently) on the right side. Don't use Discord on mobile, but people have said that it doesn't show that. Or you can ping all moderators with an @ moderator for something severe. Realize moderators here are not Intrepid employees and have no power in game or access to account information.

Then file a ticket with all the revelvant documentation and let them eventually get to them. The more you give them, the easier it will be for them to track the person and their bad behavior down. If they are DMing you on Discord, you can report them to Discord if the messages are harassment in nature or such. Intrepid takes reports of hacking and such seriously and will deal with them eventually. As you are aware, they have a huge issue with it atm that they are working on a solution for.

I mean, you can do as you like. @ a moderator and tell them the same thing. But I bet you, the response is going to be similar.

No, not currently. There is meant to eventually be a mechanic to replace absent guild leaders, but it won't be simple and probably will have a long cooldown. This was already brought up years ago when people figured out they could "sell" their guild lead so others could buy flying for a time period or such and other "roster" shenanigans prevalent in other mmos.

Just explore and keep an eye on chat. People will often be looking for groups and levels in certain areas. For example: lfm 16+ seph, so you then know that level is good for Seph.

Its alpha everything is subject to change, people less likely to make guides etc because information gets old quick, ive just really enjoyed exploring and figuring it out myself

As Warriorporky pointed out, just go out and enjoy the game. Don't worry too much about guides and such. There were some data scraper sites that had put out maps, but then Intrepid changed how their files were presented and it made it much harder for them to update, so most haven't bothered, and the info is old.

If you dont mind paying for an alpha state game, with bugs, crashes, queues, storyline unfinished and the potential of losing your stuff and progression, but want to give the fundamentals a go and test some of the systems and try it out, go for it.

If you want a more refined, finished game and losing stuff or progression or time frustrates you then dont bother.

Otherwise I think the games fine, ive had a good time playing it, but I went in with very low expectations... I expected a messy buggy alpha haha
