Woo was amazing
Woo is a treasure
Darcy and woo had a real buddy cops vibe i loved it
Randall Park KILLS the comedic timing with that character
its on fuckin point
he comes from multiple comedic roles too
It's amazing tbh
i cannot wait to see where those two pop up next
there were some aspects i didnt like about wandavision but jimmy/darcy were at the top of my list of good parts for sure
Wandavision was amazing and it rly set a high standard for Disney plus MCU shows
yup
i dont think its my personal fav of the shows so far tho
hard choice but my top three rn are probly Loki, Hawkeye, and (potentially) Ms Marvel
its not over yet so not entirely fair to place it on the list
I don't have a fave
Loki was great but it didn't have me hooked like wandavision
Hawkeye was amazing tho
until then its spot probly goes to falcon/winter soldier
but thats probably because of my Captain America bias
i still thought it was excellent tho
That's cool
Loki just didn't have me hooked like wandavision
You knew what was happening unlike wandavision
Yea that's why I loved it
The speculation and theories were fun
Kate is not annoying at all idk what you're talkin about
i love her
her and Clint's dynamic is what can make or break the show
luckily its incredible
i love the dynamic of a fangirl meeting her hero and then going on a journey with him and annoying him at first then eventually winning him over by proving herself
It's because she's inexperienced, sheltered and young. That's the point
Clint is old and grizzled, she's a young and sheltered 21 yo
hes right
Kate was adapted very well to screen
imo
That show was very consistently good in my opinion I didn't really think it flopped in any way
Aside from the fact I wanted a little bit more development for Clint
But that's more of a nitpick tbh
I've seen that opinion tossed around by other people too
I don't know if I agree
Maybe I'm just blinded by the fact that hes back
And right now I think I definitely liked him in the episode
@coral salmon also imo Yelena Belova is shaping up to be a real star of phase 4
She absolutely is
god she's just so damn charismatic
i disliked the black widow movie but MAN she's an excellent character
If they write in her asexuality she'll be even more liked
Due in large part to marvel having exactly zero LGBT reps lol
Is that a recent comics retcon?
Or is it like something that's been a part of her forever
I mean she is a newer character it seems
I think she is
wiki says her comic debut was in 1999
old, but newer than i was expecting for some reason
yeah exactly
I think she's very niche tho, comics wise
Definitely
But I'm feeling very accepting of her as a replacement for Natasha in the MCU
My only gripe is that I wish Natasha herself had more of an actual sendoff
I think the Hawkeye series did a better job of acknowledging her legacy than the black widow movie did
Because that movie doesn't really give us much more of her back story other than the stuff about her fake parents
There's really not much else
The black widow movie was like one of those OVAs in anime
They're just additional info, nothing important
Natasha deserved a better acknowledgement than the two scenes she got in endgame
Yeah that's what I'm saying about the Hawkeye series
A lot of Clint's screen time in that series sees him dealing with the regret he feels over what happened with Nat
its done really well imo
especially the scene at the end with him having to explain to Yelena what actually happened to her sister
It's really well done yea
Hawkeye was a great miniseries
It felt self-contained and still impactful
I just wanted Clint to have more time in the spotlight
he definitely got that to an extent
Comics take up my entire closet
this brought up a good point
Professor X ||has died 4 times on screen now||
there’s more movies where he firs than where he lives
I think it's actually just a little less
X-Men 1-3, wolverine origins, dofp-dark phoenix, Logan, mom
idk he’s never really doing cool shiddd
He died in four of the nine
always incapacitated or unable to use powers
Almost over half
For plot purposes
boring purposes
He's one strong mofo
Huh?
half the xmen movies don’t utilise their characters well enough
worked for logan because it honed in on a smaller story and had good stakes
he was cool in first class
wolverine was in that movie for 5 seconds
what im getting at is its odd for you to say he was great in that movie when he only says three words lol
List of X-Men movies that make actually good use of a large ensemble cast:
I was gonna say Days of Future past but then I realized 90% of the cast is either sidelined or killed at the beginning of the movie
Days of Future Past has three leads at best
maybe four
Great Wolverine/Xavier/Magneto movie
Logan, Prof X, Magneto, Mystique
this is true
Everytime i watch it i cry that quicksilver wasnt in it more
Mystique is largely a plot device in that movie just like all her other movie appearances
There are things to criticize that movie for even though it's great
One thing being that him being Magnetos son could have made for a much more compelling story line but it's addressed for like 1 scene
I like Quicksilver in that movie as a vacuum but not really as Quicksilver the character
I believe it's addressed in Apocalypse but i mean
that movie's bad
Fast funny guy
The only scene I like from it is the quicksilver eighties music scene
I always thought they could do more with that
I was hoping for it actually
The story of all X-Men film characters that aren't Wolverine/Xavier/Magneto
Could've done way more with __
i know this is slightly off topic but they definitely wasted him in Wandavision too
craziest reveal i had seen in awhile then
nothing
One of the stupidest things about the X-Men movies, is they focus so much on Xavier but in pretty much none of the actually interesting ways about him
could you explain to me what those interesting things about him are?
Since I don't read the comics
im intrigued
Magneto and Wolverine are pretty much the only X-Men film versions that are actually like the characters they're based on
Xavier is
- not british
- an arrogant stubborn son of a bitch
- has a savior complex while largely wrong about all of the stuff he pursues but you could never convince him of it
Dude would probably wipe everyone on earth's mind before he admitted he was wrong about his idea and should maybe not be in charge
did you by any chance see multiverse of madness yet
i just wanna say ||i think the arrogance is kinda there in his brief appearance||
I have not seen it
Oh
Xavier really does have the best interests in mind for everybody but that goes out the window when it comes to defending his own ego
Also he's not british, dude is from new york
I can understand why him being a monk would definitely disappoint you there
The movies treat him like he's mutant Gandhi
fav film?
yeah
We are talking about Xavier right now
I hope they recast all xmen tbh
But he's more like mutant Neville Chamberlain
Fav movie is days of future past easily
yea same
The nightcrawler scene of X2 is epic and iconic
Peter Dinklage was fun in that movie
But I am not super fond of a lot of the rest of that movie
it’s alright like watchable enough
But I am biased against any movie that treats Cyclops like that
Logan is definitely an alt-universe Wolverine movie
I actually like that movie's Xavier
I reeeeeaaaally don’t like Patrick Stewart as professor xavier
I don’t think he’s a good fit
he was good in logan otherwise haven’t liked him in most other movies
It's either an alt universe or a far future
either works
Charles Xavier should be a dude in his ~50s with a snooty mid-atlantic accent
I don't mind Patrick Stewart as the character
Even if they still kept him as being British they could have made him accurate to the comics character personality like John said
It's possible Kevin Feige will understand this
But it might not happen because the British accent is how everybody sees that character now
unfortunately
have they ever shifted xavier or magnetos ages to be more contemporary..?
like their characters are pretty integral to historical events that would make them obscenely old
I liked non british xavier
Australian wolverine is bizarre
that literally makes no sense
Him british isn't ridiculous or anything, he's upper class american and oxford educated. But I feel like giving him a british origin is just a little too shifted, he's supposed to be the son of new money new yorkers
In the comics they are still tied to specific historical events, but they have been physically de-aged at various points along the way
that makes more sense
I take it magneto wasn't ever British either?
Like Xavier has literally been just given a new younger body multiple times, and Magneto was de-aged down to a baby and then re-aged back up to an adult man
Magneto is not british no
I can’t keep up with any cannon.. I wanna finish that comic that is spiderman throughout different decades
It was very enjoyable
Where's magneto from in the comics
he’s a holocaust survivor
magneto’s excuse for not ageing is his manipulation of magnetic fields reducing his ageing process
Never heard that one
I just remember him literally being aged down to a baby and then back up to an adult
In the 70s
I mean it's one way that they can explain him being around for World War II in the new movies
I've heard people throw around the idea of him just being a victim of a different massacre
But the holocaust is literally core to his identity
I don't really see a way to keep him specifically as a holocaust survivor in a way that work for films set in the present day
I could see shifting his origin to a different genocide, that's been floated among fan discussion a lot
It would be jarring yea
Having him be a Rwandan genocide survivor is an idea I'm not against
And I saw people suggest Denzel Washington play him
honestly want something entirely different so I would like both of these
I just want new takes on the xmen characters
It's similar to how they did The Punisher in the Netflix series
They had to change his origin to be that he was a veteran of the Afghanistan war rather than Vietnam
And it really didn't change anything
He's still really accurate to comic book Frank castle and the changing of wars didn't really do anything he's still a changed man from his time there
I also think they should be able to balance the characters better.. expanded cinematic universes have gotten better since the earlier xmen movies
I just want it to feel less bombarded with characters who don’t really get arcs or have really forced ones
The personal side of X-Men is both the best part and also the hardest to make work with film
I feel like the MCU does a way better job of pacing character arcs over multiple movies and making films with a lot of characters tie together much stronger than any of the mainline xmen
Which is why the best X-men media outside the comics have been episodic tv series
Last time he got a new body was like, only 4 years ago right
He basically just took fantomex's body
They did
Yeah he came back in fantomex’s body then right after HoXPoX he got killed in that body and brought back in a copy of his regular body
@normal heron I'm home and I'm gonna watch ms marvel in a few minutes
Pogchamp
I'm gonna watch it after my parents are off work
It'll be earlier this time because I don't have karate this week
Then I guess we might be talking about it after I'm back from work because I only have about 2 hours free after I'm done watching this
Alright that's cool man
Just ping me when you're free to talk
I'm finished with it
Tell me what you thought no spoilers
this episode raises a lot of questions
On the other hand though you will love the scenery of Karachi
it was fun and vibrant
Fun and vibrant is like the whole vibe of this show and it works perfectly
Also by the way never mind I called off work
I'm kind of sick today
so just let me know when you're able to talk about it
@blazing loom So if I were to have Matt Lintz (actor for Bruno on Ms. Marvel) sign something what should it be?
He's coming to my local comic shop on Friday lmao
oh he's wonderful!
You should get any of your miss Marvel issues that share story threads in common with the show
I'm looking for covers and stuff with Bruno on them. However they all seem very relationship-y
I'll send a few and see if you think they're winners or nah. I've got one in mind that might be really good
Remember how some of the promotional images for the show directly matched the comics
You could bring one of those
This is true but since that happened a lot of those books have shot up in value. I'm kinda gonna try to bring one that doesn't have a lot of value so that I can have a signed and unsigned copy. I'm kind of weird with signed books. I don't really want signatures on my big boy books especially because there's no way to authenticate the signature through a third party grader at this meet and greet event
There's also this one but it is very sad
I don't think that one is super great
As you can see Bruno has a tendency to be left out a lot. Makes me feel bad for him ngl
thats a good one
Aaaayyyy this one is not too bad
has an old school vibe, i like
Bruno is the one out the window looking sad not at the table
No
||red dagger makes his appearance||
I knew this would happen
ok
Not really a spoiler
k
LETS FUCKING GOOOO BRUNOOOO
Although this may be the book I ask him to sign
Reprint of the first appearance of Kamala Khan and Bruno
Bad take
Also that's a really unfair comparison
They are trying to have their own unique style and I think they succeeded
I grew up with Disney Channel in its PRIME and not for a second did I think this reminded me of that at all
Maybe you're just too used to superhero movies being needlessly dark
If every comic book adaptation was super dark that would make this genre redundant
I like that type of stuff when done right for sure, but they can't all be the same
Also I hate the argument that this is a kids show
Is absolutely not
In fact many of the themes are things that people of all ages can relate to
not to mention she's a high schooler
No one said that about spider man homecoming and it took place when he was 16
It was great
Just because something is rated PG doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed by a larger audience
Exactly
Great comparison for this idea is Star Wars the clone wars
This show features so many people getting stabbed right through the chest and incredibly dark themes
Yet many people have always labeled it a kids show just because it aired on Cartoon Network originally
||There were some people stabbed through the chest in tonight's episode of Ms. Marvel lol||
Yep
Marvel aren't just all of a sudden going to say "yeah this is targeted for 8 year olds"
its not
its for EVERYONE, for gods sakes
Nintendo does the same thing but people don't complain when they do it
It's also just in spirit of the character to have it more lighthearted
Not everything is Batman or The Boys
Exactly what I was just saying
Yeah
I like when the light hearted stuff can be done right
And there are plenty examples of the dark stuff being done wrong
for the love of God don't watch titans
I regret every 2nd i sat through in season 2
I actively don’t watch any of this stuff.. but new thor looks fun
I like the source material
Season 2 actively pissed me off
it was just baffling decision after baffling decision
lol
I don’t care enough about any of this stuff to have any serious opinions
I’ll dip in every now and again when something sparks my interest
thor looks fun
maybe I’ll watch it in a year lol
taika is great at making stand-alone superhero stuff
I sincerely don’t care about CUs
too much investment
yea.. Idk I saw spiderman and felt like whatever about it
I enjoyed thor ragnarok, guardians movies are fun, then i really struggle to care about anything
but it’s obviously good for people who like it
I can appreciate stuff made for people like me who just want a solid superhero story without the baggage of all this shared universe bs
I looooved into the spiderverse.. watched that for the first time like late last year
I’m a casual watcher I really hate having to keep up with multiple movies to understand the greater point of all this, it’s good/bad
I know a bit about comics lore whatnot but I never feel satisfied by the contained stories when they’re overstuffing all this extra lore stuff.. a lot of the time it doesn’t feel in universe and feels more like pure distilled fan-service
I catch some of that idk.. DC makes fun standalone.. I liked suicide squad the newer one, batman had some good stuff
shazam was really entertaining on just a casual level
I always liked non DC and Marvel comics and getting a lot of adaptations of weirder stuff has been really great
It's PG
I don't know dude but I think we have quite the leg up on you here because you supposedly just watched an episode of Ms. Marvel and yet you're calling the show Captain Marvel...? I mean call me "MCU die hard" or "Captain Marvel die hard" but please know the name of the show you are watching before you go on Discord talking about it
Also @blazing loom I found a $150 book in extremely low grade in the dollar bin at my comic shop today
It's TV-14 right now but it was PG before it came out and then it changed to TV-14 and then it changed back to PG. After that it changed BACK to TV-14 and here we are today
people who think all mcu movies are "the same" clearly haven't seen all of them
I don’t tbh.. it’s kinda I just know what I’m getting into with a MCU movie.. and if Im going to watch one I will have to already be interested in whatever the film is about..
it’s not necessarily that “they’re all the same”
yeah, im saying its a common misconception
I don’t see why it’s bad to have a slight aversion to a type of movie.. I can say without a shadow of a doubt I won’t get much outta the majority of MCU movies I don’t see
they’re made for fans of the CU and those characters
yeah, and so casuals watch them and get confused
We already have a Justice League
they really weren’t built of the Cinematic universe each hero gets their own setup.. half the cast had a film after Justice League
We still already have a JLA
I mean the movie wasn't good but I wouldn't say the existence of the Justice League in the DCEU is forgettable
Yeah they've very much been the topic of a lot of conversation in here lately

@blazing loom
X-Men Red goes fucking hard I love magneto, read #4 yesterday and it is 😩
found it, was talking about the irony of a show like that being an amazon thing
you mean the boys?
what do you mean
why is it ironic
amazon making a show about an immoral company, that does unethical things, exploits people and uses spin masters to maintain a reputable public image
Dude I heard that series is one of the best in comics right now
I'll see about reading them on Marvel Unlimited eventually
What I'm most looking forward to is Chip Zdarsky's new run on Daredevil
You would need to catch up on some things to fully appreciate it
Probably
But those things are all on unlimited
You would probably be fine just going in based off of HoXPoX and Planet Sized X-Men but really it builds so well on everything Hickman wrote for the X-Men
If you read HoXPoX alone even I could probably give a fitting run-up but I can’t recommend it enough
But I’m not about to say skip HoXPoX that would be a gross mistake
I can probably stomach HoXPoX but aint no way in hell I'm reading X of Swords
22 parts fuck no
It's good as fuck
HoXPoX is something to stomach digest and realize your life has changed after reading
did you all read comics as kids because I never had superhero comics growing up, I either had like news paper tier comics or weirdly mature arthouse graphic novels
I didn't really get into superhero comics until I was an adult
@blazing loom I have decided that if when I get there I want Matt Lintz to sign a comic book, this is the one
The series that comic is in is from the 2015-2019 series
Lasted 38 issues and I own every single one of them
Plus some variant covers
And I also own the entire 2014 run plus some variant covers and second prints
yeah i'd say that picture reminds me the most of how he's been presented in the show
I am missing 2 issues of the 2019-2021 run. If I get those 2 issues I will have a complete legacy run of Ms. Marvel comics. This means I have every issue of every volume of every solo series of Ms. Marvel
Agreed
It's just a great cover overall
So many great covers of hers
Yeah just reminds me of how the show has showed that he is really smart and is into science
Like look at this
like a real peter parker type
Matt Lintz was in the running for Spider-Man
He got edged out by Tom Holland
Yeah
i can see that
Lintz would've been great but I think Holland was the right choice
It's towards the same audience as most of the MCU
There's not a big sign screaming "IRON MAN IS ONLY FOR ADULTS AND MS MARVEL IS ONLY FOR TEENS"
At the LCS he's coming out in about 10 minutes
Let me know if he tells you anything about the remaining ms Marvel episodes
@blazing loom I got to meet him. Dude was soooo nice
And his lips were SEALED
He said he feels like Kevin Feigie has a laser pointed at his forehead
He signed my book and it looks cool af
We also mentioned how my mom was a big Walking Dead fan and at no extra charge gave us a signed picture of him from The Walking Dead
Wait who did he play on the walking dead
i used to watch that
Oh I see who he is now
His performance is more recognizable towards the end of the series and I only watched up to season 8
Henry
Yeah dude was super cool
Lemme send a picture of my signed book now
Glad I chose a great Bruno cover to get signed
That was definitely the right move
Bruno's face even kinda reminds me a little bit of Matt
like man they definitely cast the perfect Bruno
Only difference is that Bruno on the comics had longer hair
true, the character just seems to be written and portrayed rather accurately
Oh yeah for sure
Thanks man! I really enjoyed meeting him too
Ms. Marvel is just deadass that good
I don't know what to tell you
Not everything has to be mature and edgy to be good
I haven't seen DD
And I have no doubt it's good
But Ms. Marvel is really 10/10
For me anyway
Daredevil is insanely good but it doesnt need to be compared to Ms Marvel
Yeah they're also so very different
Ms. Marvel just feels like so much love was put into it
From the actors especially but everyone else too
Also the fact that this is Iman Vellani's first role in anything ever and she's nailing her character like this is truly something to admire
i dont get your dislike
But... you can't give a reason? Don't take this the wrong way but I can't accept your opinion until there's something supporting it
I wasn't comparing it to DD. I was saying it lives up to the Rotten Tomatoes score
nobody was saying it wasnt good
Daredevil is objectively fantastic
i was saying its a very different style of show dude
I mean I don't think I'd have to watch DD to know you probably shouldn't compare the two
unnecessary to compare it to the clearly very different style of show that ms marvel is
not really sure what this sentence is even trying to say
yes i have seen daredevil
Ok
wrong channel for that lol
I just wanted to know
Really bad 😭
It's one of my favorite games
then i will ping you in the proper thread
👍
Ok
Lol ok but it probably was
You realise Gorr the God Butcher literally crucifies and beheads and fucking decimates people??? Marvel aren't about R rated movies.
Anyway, @normal heron you should watch the boys cos it's good and you'd like
I would be watching if it weren't for my dad who thinks I'm not mature enough to watch it
I don't really think that would fit with the really colorful vibe of this movie and Taika's previous thor film
Not only would it not fit but MoM wasn't gruesome whatsoever. It was just on the more extreme PG-13 violence levels. Besides with Sam Raimi, the director of Evil Dead making it, it only made since to put a bit more violence into it.
Also intense scenes don't necessarily add to a movie
He was trying to say he likes Marvel licensed by Fox more
Ms. Marvel has some of the best MCU camera work period
So does MoM
yeah
@blazing loom Thor Love and Thunder is mid
Hey I'm not gonna lie I really didn't want a ping about that
I already bought my ticket I was just waiting to see it
I don't really care about the ratings right now
I was trying not to read anything
I mean it's just reviews
It's still gonna be good I bet
Sorry dude
I didn't know about that
I know but that's the same god damn rating as the dark world
I will not do that in the future
now you made me nervous
I don't get it everyone was saying they were so proud of this movie
Taika especially
Or maybe this is just the result of all the cut content I've been hearing about
apparently his original cut was 4 hours
I just heard this morning that they cut scenes with Peter Dinklage and Jeff Goldblum's characters
Jesus
I would have waited for an at home release at that point
and i heard a few days ago they apparently cut a character that was played by Lena Headey
from Game of Thrones
Imma be honest, this is a trend im noticing alot
Marvel has a cutting content problem
in this phase specifically
Plenty of pretty good movies end up with RT scores in the high 60s, that's a positive reception so far
And also, movies are about your own enjoyment, don't feel nervous about seeing a movie you're excited to see just because it hasn't gotten universal acclaim
I hate how we've diluted film criticism so much that a movie has to either be bad or amazing
A movie can be good and a movie can have criticism, both can be true
i wasnt really saying that
My point was that I didn't really want him to tell me the critics score, I was waiting for my own judgment
Fair
But also a percentage of positive/negative reviews also doesn't tell you really anything about how the movie is judged
I don't really care about critic reception to MCU movies anyway because I watch everything they make regardless
Who knows what critics are praising/criticizing
I really hope the parts they don't like doesn't include Gorr the God Butcher
I have no doubt Christian Bale crushes it but I would be devastated if it somehow turns out that he was wasted in this movie just like Christopher Eccleston in thor TDW
I didn't know gorr was supposed to be in this one, makes sense with the jane foster thor and everything though. Seems they're adhering to that storyline a lot
thats who the literally white skinned guy is
in the trailer
Oh shit
its actually been known for while that gorr is the villain
like at least a year i wanna say
Yeah I haven't been following at all
And didn't recognize him in the trailer
Bit of a change in appearance but it makes sense
yeah thats understandable, dont want you to think im mocking you for that or anything
Gorr's comic look wouldn't translate that well, I like it a lot actually. Just didn't recognize him
Looks better than a CGI monstrosity trying to look like the comic version
I'm excited now actually I love that thor run
yeah im glad they went that route because i didnt want Christian Bale to be unrecognizable
At least I like the ending of it. The finale of Jason Aaron's thor run is epic as fuck
hes just done up in white skin
you can tell its him
i like that
just MAN Christian Bale is one of my favorite mcu castings in a LONG time
This would be a bit weird on the big screen
That mini that is basically the grand finale to aaron's thor story is so god damn good
yeah he kinda looks like Voldemort
no nose
or flat nose
Bit more grotesque
I do
Yeah I've read the Jason Aaron run that it seems love and thunder is largely adapted from
yeah the Jason Aaron run has been cited as a big inpiration for this film, i was watching the red carpet premiere interviews and Taika and the other creative leads on the film hold it in high regards
Bruh
dont tell me that
COMEON
thank you
no offense but you arent really telling me anything that i dont already know
aside from Gorr not being in it alot
thats not something i wanted to know before the film releases
they always have these big actors play villains who are cool and interesting but ultimately don’t do much and go away
@normal heron It's Ms Marvel time
I'm taking a break from my classwork and I and I'm gonna watch it
I'm going to watch it probably after dinner
This was a really weird episode
Just let me know when you're finished
I watched it btw
And yeah it was weird but I'm also kinda hyped for the finale (which I will not watch until the weekend after it's out because I'm going on a weeklong campout next week and there is 0 cell service 😭)
i'll let you know when i can talk, i got a lot of studying and i'm seeing Love and Thunder at 6
Ohhh let me know how that movie is
But there is one thing I will mention. It looks like we're getting ||comic accurate Kamran||
||yeah he has powers now, but i don't think he's going to become evil like you said he is in the comics||
||I don't think so either but I do like that he's got the blue energy shit goin on now||
here's a theory i have
||the DODC will be a villain of sorts for the final episode||
||in their appearances in the previous episodes they were doing a racial profiling kind of thing||
marvel was essentially doing kind of a social commentary on that
||and since they're clearly still targeting Kamran and Kamala, and that Clan Destine woman was turned to ash, who else could serve as the opposing force for the finale||
||there have to be stakes obviously||
Yeah you're right
True. I hope it amounts to something. Also I hope we get a season 2. This show is so great
Also Rolling Stone dropped the worst list of all time
Enough said
ngl ghost rider is kinda funner
Absolutely no way in hell is it the better movie
yup
its not like it really delves deep into the character of johnny blaze
its just nic cage being nic cage
I think they’re being courteous to snyder cut
realistically it’s 2 movies or like a mini series it’s hardly a movie
I mean... it's just a really long movie
Just because it's long doesn't make it not a movie
And it is certainly better than other things ranked higher on the list
bruh tell me they didnt put 2016 suicide squad on there
They didn't
it’s segmented into parts and is hardly a movie imo
Just because a movie has 10 second screens in between major acts to distinguish different parts of the movie doesn't make it any less of a movie. It is still continuous and and frankly I watched it in one sitting
The Godfather Part II is 3 and a half hours long. Considered one of the greatest movies ever made
Scott pilgrim isnt a superheor movie either
and its on this list
i would understand if the list was called "top 50 comic book movies"
but they chose to include the term superhero movie
Yeah and Far From Home and No Way Home aren't on the list 💀💀💀
Well when you have Homecoming at 12 Far From Home ought to be put in there
they’re playing fast and loose with what constitutes as a superhero considering robocop is on there
I'm sorry but Black Panther at #1 is complete bullshit
the whole thing is a farce
Still can't believe they put Ghost Rider on there
That's like putting the Elektra movie on there
How the fuck did Elektra even get a movie
the 1966 batman movie doesnt belong on there either
Yeah no shot
And in what universe is Doctor Strange 2 better than The Dark Knight Rises
0
0 universes
also i wouldve put 2012 avengers in top 10
Yup. Tank Girl is deffo better than The Batman
its still incredible and changed the game in so many ways
Yeah it's ranked criminally low
but its 41 wtf
If they woulda said comic it would somewhat be more logical
again
The movies on it would be more logical but their placements would still be a work of dumbassery
some respectable picks that are gems but Id definitely say half the shit on the list is comic and not superhero
DONT CALL YOUR LIST TOP 50 SUPERHERO MOVIES
IF YOU'RE GONNA PUT MOVIES BASED ON NON-SUPERHERO COMIC BOOKS
I will stop whining when someone explains to me how this is a superhero movie
Bruh robocop isnt a superhero movie
great superhero movie…? pretty mehhh about that
its a gory cop movie
has a lot of similar elements but I would mostly agree
even the article is like yea this is bs
Robocop isnt even based on a comic either
so… it’s ultimately movies
I would say it’s a comic movie.. it feels similar and definitely has that tone
But it's not based off a comic
So while it may show qualities, technically, it is not a comic movie
Robocop belongs more in sci-fi category
I disagree.. it’s very pulpy comic origin story
and most sci fi movies arent based on comics anyways
I think a lot of robocop 1/2 was written by comic writers
I believe, simply put, a movie that is called a "comic movie" must be based off a comic of some sort whether it's a strip, book, magazine, whatever
Technically
The Peanuts Movie IS a comic movie
Yes
that would be a comic book movie
Thoughts on Elliot Page replacing Ezra Miller?
i still like my grant gustin idea
but thats a decent one too
It wouldn't be the worst choice ngl
really anyone can replace him
I really liked it!!!!
Dude sick
Ok so
Hmmmm
Are there any characters that you did not expect to see?
Please answer these questions strictly yes or no so there is no figuring out the movie
um no
sorry to disappoint but no
ok very VERY minor spoiler
Go ahead
she appears in the marvel studios banner logo
Do the post credit scenes set up something cool
Yeah they were both awesome actually
Tbh they're my favorite couple of mcu credit scenes in awhile
so now if you'll allow me i'll get into my overall non spoilery thoughts
i think its very charming, rather heartwearming at times
You will love the action sequences and how colorful it is
That's great man
Glad you liked it
I'll probably see it after next week after I get back from camping
This is another minor spoiler because hes in the trailer
but i wanna say this
Russell Crowe as Zeus was a surprising standout for me
That was fucking hilarious
Oh
To be honest I was saying all of this under the assumption that you were going to see it in just a few days
oof
No no
It's good dude
This won't ruin the movie for me at all
This is just kinda stuff I want to sit on and think about
Yk?
yes of course
Like if I tell you anything I'm only going to tell you things I like
I don't want to say something negative and ruin your perception of the film
Nah nah
I'm sure I'll really like the movie
I'm not one to make an opinion based on what other people tell me either
Yeah Christian Bale actually doesn't watch a lot of movies
He said he hasn't seen The Batman yet
I read about that too
@blazing loom Ms. Marvel sticks the landing in a big way
Yep I was waiting patiently for when you got back
It's of course been 3 days now since I saw that episode
yeah it was quite good
I thought some of the CGI moments were a bit mindless this episode but it still had alot of heart like usual
||I think my main issue is that I didn't really buy why DODC was going after Kamran and Kamala||
||Like there's not really a great reason given||
||Like I said before it's possible that it's a racially motivated attack and this is Marvel doing a social commentary on that but they don't really address that||
||True. But I feel like the DODC aren't finished yet and I'm willing to give Marvel a pass for now||
||Also Kamala is a MUTANT||
That's just awesome
Yeah that's probably everyone's biggest take away from this episode
But I don't want to ignore the fact that there was so much other great stuff here
Yeah there was. ||I wonder if we'll see Kamran again. It seems like they left the door open for him to return||
Also @blazing loom my family and I are finally going to see Thor Love and Thunder today
You'll enjoy it
I've seen a lot of mixed reactions online and people have honestly been overeacting
The first appearance of Gorr tanked from $240 to $90 in the matter of one week 💀
Bruh is that real
yes that is this mans actual title
Yeah that's a bit much
It's like a 68% at the worst
Far from sucking
And he has absolutely no place to say the mcu is dead
People need to throw the MCU a bone. They just got done with the single biggest crossover in movie history. It's gonna be a while before the movie quality and storytelling starts to pick up again.
It has been 3 years but you're not wrong
The pandemic had an impact on that
Yeah it would have been about 1.5 years if not for covid
The Marvel God says that the direction will be clear towards the end of phase 4
I trust him
My only real criticim of the mcu as a whole lately is what i call "cut content syndrome"
Yup
This movie probably would have less haters iif they had made it at least 20 minutes longer
You'll see what I mean
It's got the same problem as multi verse of madness
It just feels like there was stuff they planned
But it's missing
There were like 3 characters coming back that were cut from love and thunder
Interesting. I'll see for myself later. I think I'll like the movie though
a role from Game of Thrones alum Lena Headey that was entirely scrapped
Yeah she's great
I don't want to ruin the movie for you I'm just telling you
This is stuff I heard about before the movie even came out
Yeah yeah I know
Jeff Goldblum's grandmaster character from Ragnarok was completely cut
As long as I don't get told any major plot points I'm good
Taika said the OG cut was like 4 hours long
I can understand cutting Peter Dinklages giant dwarf from Infinity War
But Jeff Goldblum's grandmaster was so great and we've waited 5 years to see another thor movie I really wanted him back
Also I apologize if Im annoyingly repeating myself
I just want to make the point that the MCU is worthy of criticism but I think a lot of what general audiences are criticizing it for isn't fair
No no it's cool
And I agree. I'll let you know when I watch it
The deleted scenes will probably be on YouTube in a few months
There better at least be a scene where ||we see Gorr kills more gods||
Nah I doubt it
A lot of the gorr stuff is too gory for the rating it has
Crucifixions, maiming, the works
It's brutal
||i still think its unfortunate that for a villain who's whole thing is killing gods, we don't get to see him do much of that||
||Going into the movie I actually expected Gorr to just show up and kill Zeus||
||100% did not expect Thor to impale him||
It's unfortunate but at least we got a little snippet of his crimes
Better than nothin
sure i guess
go ahead and tell me everything
im interested to hear
It just felt like a tonal disaster
It was overly campy for no reason and a lot of the jokes just didn't land
||I felt like Jane Foster Thor was completely wasted too.||
||There was just no balance. It went from an action movie to a straight up comedy to a tension filled encounter with Gorr to an emotional goodbye to Jane. It just didn't know what it wanted to be ||
||They just glossed over Jane's origin as Thor. We never even figure out what kind of cancer she's ailing from. How did she just... become worthy? The Guardians of the Galaxy just felt shoehorned in and there were pacing issues all around towards the beginning. That being said, I was still mildly entertained. 6/10 for Thor Love And Thunder||
i feel more a 7.5/10 but idk maybe that'll change when it comes to disney+

After the Giant Sized additions, the X-Men had a stable crew for a while. But over the next decade, the team would encounter some new mutants who would go on to define the X-Men for decades.
So let's cast Rogue, Gambit, Shadowcat, Ju...
@elfin gorge i would love to at some point have a conversation with you about these casting choices
this guy does a very thoughtful breakdown of the characters and what is needed to play them well
We do figure out what cancer she has
Stage 4 brain cancer
It's mentioned multiple times
||She was never "worthy", Thor asked Mjølnir to always protect her and it obliged.||
This is accurate though
It's just a dumb campy movie and if you don't take it seriously it's enjoyable
@normal heron Was finally able to log into my Comixology account!
Support was super helpful and quick to respond. I don't think they understood my issue at first but once they did they sent me to the right page lol.
yeah tbh i wish some of the emotion hit harder
I have more in my library than I thought I did
I think I might've bought a physical copy at one point too, maybe like issue 9?
were some of those promotions?
i have a feeling you wouldnt choose to buy the walking dead issue 1
Definitely not lol
i think i got that for frr somewhere too lol
That's way too daunting of a series to try to get into when I'm not THAT interested
but like
its a physical copy
I think I might've bought Invincible too
Yeah that's understandable
But I do want you to know
twd comics > twd show
Oh I'm sure
i wont go too in depth but i will say, i felt the comics had a bit more thoughtful storytelling
Most written media usually does
the show always tried too hard to cater to its dumb audience
That's annoying
because it was a very popular show at one point
yeah i just remember a certain scene in like season 6 or 7 made me really realize that
i was annoyed
That usually happens with any long running show and it's always annoying
||I can find nothing online about stage 4 brain cancer. Only breast cancer. And even then I don't remember them specifically saying breast or brain cancer||
||I mean I guess so. But then it's revealed that Mjølnir was actually sucking the life out of her to the point where she didn't have enough left to battle the cancer. So getting Mjølnir to protect her just did a whole lot of nothing||
Read Saga, Batman, Invincible and Scott Pilgrim. All amazing
she has read scott
That's the stuff I already own lol
read that one book
Granted I haven't read EVERYTHING I own but still
Oh. Well I meant if you haven't already
But since you have, good
weve talked about scott pilgrim multiple times on the server
im certain laura has read it
Addison hates it 😔
no need to call out names here i wasnt really referring to that
Oh
Sorry
I was just thinking back to the last discussion
Wasn't trying to be rude to anyone
Mb
But yeah @wispy whale you should really continue Saga, I hear it's just as good as before the hiatus
They specifically said brain cancer multiple times
Unless I'm remembering wrong
Comics wise it was breast cancer
It's tragic tbh
No she doesn't! She finds it problematic but she enjoys it. Unless you're specifically referring to the comic then yeah I guess so lol
I have only read the comics not seen the movie yet
I definitely plan to continue Saga but I'm terrible with following through with stuff unless it's a current hyperfixation 😔
You must fix this immediately
I plan to watch it soon
Oh! For some reason I remember her not liking either
Anyways I wasn't trying to like call out anyone
But yeah that movie is in my top 10 easy
Edgar Wright is a master
He can do no wrong
Drop whatever you are doing and watch it right now
Well write a glowing review of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World after you've watched it 4 times
no bc i haven't written enough for krbk month yet
and i need to work on my izoc big bang work
god i need to write a lot this week
Well you should watch it soon
It's one of the best movie's I've ever seen
okk
I watched scott pilgrim
Was it not one of the best movies you've ever seen?
It was awesome
@elfin gorge you should remind me at some point to read God Loves, Man Kills
like i couldnt right now but i absolutely want to
OMG GOD LOVES MAN KILLS
knew we'd get this at some point, hell yeah
disney streaming cant ignore their mature fans forever
we got a hint at this when they added the netflix shows
yay finally
