That's actually crazy lol
Yeah damn
Baby Pete with his mom and Joe Biden
Dang
most people refer joe biden in that picture as his dad but little did they know that..
actually, it’s the president of the united states.
lmao
Plot twist, Biden is Pete's dad
Does Biden listen to Fall Out Boy
:0
played some fallout boy at work today
His parents met at a Biden rally in the 70s
how the beginning of my fob rabbit hole looks thus far
this is 4.5 albums in
oh i have more streams on infinity than srar now
cool
i just listened to champion
i've come around quite a bit to young and menace but... champion just is not it chief
did they speedwrite the lyrics on this song like it's an impromptu speech
it just has no real place, songs like light em up and centuries are better for feel good, hype type stuff, and as for the sound, just sounds like alone together but watered down
no wonder fanbase was so divided at y+m and champion that they delayed the whole album
the following two should've been the real leading singles, last of the real ones and hold me tight
The Beat It cover is still awesome
@loud badger might be a weird question but do you recognise this photo or where it's from?
i wanna find a higher quality image to use as a phone wallpaper
never mind i think its the futct thing
it was posted to signify the beginning of the infinity era
It looks hella familiar but might be just because it looks kinda like the FUTCT cover 🤔
Reverse Google image search just gave "theatre aesthetic"
does weirdly look like a futct thing lol
From under the cork tree album cover? That's all I see when I look at this sorry
That does look badass

fucking amazing song
There where?
yes
listning to cork tree
thus far impressed
oh my goodness this ones a banger
nobody puts baby in the corner
tempted to stop the album queue just to repeat it
Great song, but I prefer the acoustic version on My Heart Will Always Be The B-Side To My Tongue. Probably mostly because I heard it first...but also because it lets Patrick's voice really shine.
And the harmonies at the end hit harder

Plus there's just something that hits different about a vindictive, anger fueled song done acoustically, like Her Eyes Say Yes by Hit The Lights (fucked up song, btw, but so good)
i really love 7 minutes in heaven
yoooo nice, it’s rare for them to play it live right?
Yeah, I'm honestly not sure how many times they've played it live. I think only a few tones according to setlist.fm, but that's fan sourced so it might not be 100% accurate
ooh
I absolutely lost my shit when they played it because at the time it was also my favorite FOB song
It's such an underrated track
It being a bonus track doesn't help but still
It's surprising how many fans have never heard it
It's not even that obscure. It's not a demo or live recording of some unreleased track...it got a proper release as a bonus track to their biggest album
Not only is it a fucking banger but the lyrics are just

I got your love letters, corrected the grammar and sent them back. It's true, romance is dead. I shot it in the chest then in the head.
I went to sleep a poet and woke up a fraud.
and if you wanna go down in history then i’m your priiiiince
i read that in patrick’s voice lmfao
Okay imma say it
I really like The Kids Aren't Alright
Patrick's voice is wonderful on that track 🥺 although I prefer Jet Pack Blues when it comes to the softer songs on AB/AP

i love this song
the title is the best part about it 😂
even though the sound is most important!!
they got permission from Uma Thurman to name their song Uma Thurman but tbh “Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn’t Get Sued Part 2” would be even better
even if it’s crazy
why is ab/ap so happy
i was half expecting some theatrical eleven part extended metaphor for the new working class
srar really set us up good 💀
even the llamas have lore
@loud badger do you know any fall out boy discord servers?
looks like i should fall a little faster down this rabbit hole
I do!
👀
for me I started w infinity on high then from under the cork tree
I think it’s best to start with cork tree first though
any of the new stuff good?
yea it’s different, some ppl don’t like it but I think it’s good
the last song they had was in 2019 which basically means this is the longest gap between albums (including hiatus time)
is the album save rock and roll good?
yeah I really liked that one
ok ill listen to it
save rock and roll is when they started changing a bit but still it’s a pretty great album imo
well it was still rock, just added more stuff ig
like more of a pop sound
but still sounded amazing
so is it like pop punk where its more radio friendly?
Like for example the phoenix is a great song but it’s probably not something you’d find in the earlier days
it’s more of just changing up a bit
it still has guitars tho right
kind of more electronic
np
ig they just lost the punk sound
just regular alt rock, and later on in ab/ap and mania, electronic
Honestly it was a slow evolution. You could hear them edging that direction a little bit with every album they made, then they went on hiatus, and anyone who paid attention to the music that Patrick and Pete made during the hiatus was NOT surprised when FOB "changed their sound" coming back from hiatus
People really overexaggerate how different it is. So much of it is just in production.
Completely agree
Like yeah, there was a small jump. There was a shift to more poppy production and instrumentation. But the songs themselves are mostly the same stylistically. That being said, production and instrumentation can have a huge effect on how things sound.
It’s kind of hard to word it but you basically said what I was trying to say lmao
Yea
fall out boy have some of the most clever song titles i swear
"reinventing the wheel to run myself over"
does anyone just repeat the carpal tunnel of love randomly
like “bro this song is good I gotta play it again” then you end up spamming repeat 😭
A little shaky at times but worth the watch.
"Never Trust A Band That Wouldn't Bleed For You!"
this was so cool

definitely the punk-iest song on this album and fucking love it
best fob title
lol they’ve got some very clever ones
my favorite being “i slept with someone in fall out boy and all i got was this stupid song written about me”
That just reminded me that this exists 😂

Gabe Saporta and Travie McCoy hanging out in NYC mocking a fantastic Fall Out Boy misheard lyric... "ALSO INTO CATS" (actually: "Oh so intricate") from "This Ain't a Scene"... Gabe really commits here ;)
The release of Infinity on High was 2/7/07 so I'm guessing it was around that time.
(Filmed with Gym Class Heroes ShoZu phone in 2007 and res...
yesss theres more of us
I would say Folie a Deux is my second favorite because I like American Beauty/American Psycho more but damn it really got the short end of the stick with those votes
Damn TTTYG got fucking robbed
nah its deserved
what did TTTYG ever do to you
it was a bad album
How?
i did not enjoy it at least
idk, maybe I’m just predisposed not to enjoy any pop punk bands debut record because I didn’t like paramore’s, fall out boy’s, panic at the disco’s, green day’s, nor my chemical romance’s
I'm not too big on I brought you my bullets, you brought me your Love
I think 39/Smooth is alright
But the other 3 bands you listed debut albums I think are very good
Isn’t their name based on Simpsons?
Yep
I used to not like a lot of bands first albums but then I’d hear like one song from those albums and want to listen to more then I’ll actually really like the album
39/smooth is an example of that
then it was tttyg and bullets
It's not even their debut lmao
And TTTYG is fantastic
its their debut studio album
It's not, actually
Evening Out With Your Girlfriend is
They just demoted it to "mini-LP" because they got screwed over, weren't happy with it, and don't get any royalties from it. But it was absolutely recorded and released with the intent to be their debut studio album.
then it’s not a studio album
if the band explicitly says “this is not an album” why would I consider it an album
How is it not a studio album?
The band didn't explicitly say it's not an album
They just don't really talk about it because it's a sore spot for them
That doesn't mean it doesn't exist
Nobody can just say "Oh they don't like that album so it's not an album"
That's not how it works
according to Wikipedia, “the rushed schedule left the band discontent and ceasing to call it their debut album”
That's just the words of whoever wrote the wiki article and isn't sourced
The fact that it was recorded in two days, and when is sourced
The rest of the sentence is not
Also on Wikipedia
Fall Out Boy's debut album has had no mainstream attention, and it has not reached any charts. Also, no singles were released from this album.
They signed with a label, recorded an album with them, got kinda fucked over with a rushed recording schedule, and weren't happy with the result. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist or isn't their debut. I'd never heard of anyone calling it an EP/mini-LP/not their debut album until the past few years.
it was not on spotify when I listened to tttyg so I don't think considering it not their debut is wrong
and again if they don't consider it their debut record/aren't happy with it why would I
So if it's not on Spotify it doesn't exist?
I guess Kerplunk is Green Day's debut album now then
It pretty much is
this is just a dumb semantic thing I don't get why you care so much
I'm just informing of the facts that it was recorded and released with the intent for it to be their debut album
Why do you care so much that you're debating what constitutes a debut album?
I'm just confused why after like 15 years people suddenly decided to start calling EOWYG an EP
Just checked the Wiki history out of curiosity. The first time it was referred to as anything other than their debut album was in 2011, nearly 10 years after its release lol
having now listened to most of it I can see why they were unhappy with it and if I was them I also wouldn't want this to be my debut
it sucks
🤨
Your attitude is what sucks
The production quality isn't ideal but the songs are good
nah
i think evening out with your girlfriend isnt good at all but some of the songs are decent
its not absolute shit but it isnt good
pretty in punk is good
Short Fast And Loud and Parker Lewis Can't Lose are bangers
i keep forgetting how long the damn titles are on their songs lol
especially on from under the cork tree
like "I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me" or "Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued"
I feel like I say this every time that song is mentioned but...fun fact: the original title was My Name Is David Ruffin And These Are The Temptations
Also, their long song titles are the reason Thnks Fr Th Mmrs has all the vowels taken out; to make the song title shorter
am I the only one where the long song titles used to intimidate me
like thinking it was gonna be a really loud or long crazy song
but now that I’m actually like.. a fan and I know more of their songs I really don’t mind the long song titles anymore
also hol up isn’t it pete wentz’s bday today
idk but if it is happy birthday to pete
Happy birthday pete wentz
i still maintain that it was a massive piss take
since "thanks for the memories" is still shorter than a lot of these titles
Yeah it was basically a big "Fuck off we'll call our songs whatever we want"
old (infinity on high and before) FOB is better, fight me
Amend that to say before their hiatus?
well
I think the stuff before their hiatus was kinda better but I also really loved save rock and roll
Yeah as a whole the pre-hiatus stuff is more consistently better, but there are some fuckin' BANGERS post-hiatus
I don’t think the stuff after the hiatus is as bad as ppl think tbh
AGREE
Where Did The Party Go and Novocaine are both probably in my top like...six?
Light ‘em up is catchy as hell
I need to learn to play Where Did The Party Go on bass
So many people hate post hiatus and it kinda confuses me like yea it’s different but at least it’s still good 👁👄👁
cool, you play bass?
And honestly the biggest difference is in the production, not the music itself
yeahhh I noticed that too
I own a bass but I would hardly say I play it 😂
lol
I dabble and even saying that much is a generous overstatement tbh
I’m getting guitar lessons soon and I’m thinking about starting with that then once I get everything down im probably gonna start playing the bass more
I want to play bass but I am not motivated enough to actually learn to play it
I took one guitar class and I wish I'd stuck with it
yeah that happened to me before with the flute 😭
literally so annoying
hopefully im motivated enough 4 the guitar like ik it’ll be worth it cuz i wanna be in a rock band one day and stuff
I did play oboe for many years but I was never good...just pretty okay.
I really want to learn to play piano/keyboard/synths
And saxophone
I think I'd have the easiest time with sax, honestly
I played my brother's tenor sax a few times and it was SO EASY compared to oboe and clarinet, fuck
Of all the instruments I've dabbled in, it was by far the one that felt like it came the most naturally to me
Drums being the most difficult, probably. Or...actually maybe flute
I could never figure the mouthpiece out quite right for flute. Hurt my face. 😂
Like all my family members know how to play guitar and a few of them taught themselves so hopefully it works for me 😂 maybe it just runs in our genes, idk
I wish Steve had the patience to teach me 🥺
same, and one moment I’d be able to make the sound and the next it just completely stops. RIP
😭
Clarinet sucked with the high notes...always sounded like a squeal, never smooth. I honestly found clarinet much more difficult than oboe
And despite having a very similar mouthpiece, sax was WAY easier than clarinet
Clarinet I had to like...PUSH the air through. Sax I would just like...exhale
Damn my sister used to play clarinet, the woodpiece thingy was like… so bad
Maybe that's only true for tenor sax though...maybe alto sax would be more difficult for me
mouth basically like irritated from wood. I never played the clarinet but yeah
Brass mouthpieces are weird.
I'm pretty sure mouthpieces for woodwinds can be different materials, depending on the quality of the instrument
Pretty sure the ones I used were plastic
Or at least some hybrid material...definitely not wood
Unless you mean the reed itself?
yeah I think it was the reed
Maybe it was just an old shitty reed
Yeah probably lmao
They gotta be replaced regularly
Old ones are pretty uncomfortable to play because they start splintering...but they're still soft because they're wet
It's just a very odd sensation. And it sounds like shit.
If you think that's bad, try playing a double-reed instrument
Someone I know used to play the bass as well for school (not bass guitar but they eventually moved onto that as well), their fingers would get hurt from the strings but they basically had a way to prevent it by cutting up those gel rubber pencil grips and putting them on their fingers. Idk how it didn’t cut off circulation but heeyy no more welts on finger tips
yeah it worked lol, he hasn’t played it in a while but if I can find something like that I might try it once I play the bass xD
Unrelated, but have we actually seen patricks hair?, he's always wearing a baseball cap

This song came on at work today
Nice
Deepcut lol
It sounded like earlier era fob and I was really surprised when I saw that it came out in 2018
Like it actually had distinct guitars
Big @plush cargo vibes in this picture
It sounds almost exactly the same as the demo that they recorded and released on Welcome To The New Administration in 2008, that's why lol
Might even be the same recording, just mixed and mastered. (Maybe not, though. It's been a while since I've listened to either.)
for my friend helen :D
Lake Effect Kid Lyrics (thanks to baseballwill100, FOBLuver411, fourstarusergirl, and vqsd :DD)
Sometimes when I'm in heaven
I get the kid full lovelier
Until I end big, like real-life poison bloods
The heat is on
Speak soft when the seat is down
I got a pocket full of deadliness
Opium den mother, forget my ...
I was really surprised when they finally decided to release it 10 years later and it didn't even sound different lmao
I would've figured they would revamp it or reinvent it, because if they were happy with it as is, why didn't they release it sooner?
Now that I think, he didn’t have a hat on in the video for Saturday, but all their other videos, he wears a hat
Look it me
Centuries too. I knew there was an earlier video where he didn't have a hat but I couldn't remember which
In dance dance he doesn’t have a hat (well there’s 2 of every member in this music video, so kind of)
Patrick stump doing homework for me
Tell me this guy doesn’t at least look a bit like Patrick
We would probably be able to give a take on that if he wasn't wearing a mask lol
Posting a picture of someone wearing a mask and saying they look like someone doesn't really work
lol
From what I can see, hair no, clothes no. Only similarity is hat and I don't think I've ever seen Patrick in a backwards trucker hat so even that is a stretch.
@grizzled igloo Hair, yes, I will try to find his yearbook pic tomorrow
He’s wearing a baseball cap in the video for dead on arrival
Baseball cap =/= backwards trucker hat
So, one of my coworkers was at the basement concert in the video for dead on arrival
Nice! I bet that was fun
This was like, before they were relavent at all
Eh they were decently well known here, at least among music fans in the scene
I hadn’t spawned yet at that point, so I wouldn’t know
i damn wish i was a teen at that point
It makes me sad that there are no videos of my first FOB show
This photo though 😂
reminds me of this
This should be turned into a meme
"green day fans expecting a return to 1990s sound"
"FOAM"
B-but it's 100% pure uncut rock!
With no trap beats and swedish songwriters
why does it look photoshopped lol

Hopefully it's like Infinity On High
I'm not sure. 👀 That's be a shame if not because it's one of my favorites. 🥺
his might be a bit controversial but here’s my top 4 fob songs:
- The Carpal Tunnel of Love
- A Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown On a Bad Bet
- Where is your boy tonight/grand theft autumn
- The Phoenix
was gonna add a 5th one but it’s pretty tough lol
My favorite is Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet, and following it in no particular order are Where Did The Party Go, The (Shipped) Gold Standard, Novocaine, The Music Or The Misery, Grand Theft Autumn, and Chicago Is So Two Years Ago.
