Yes it is. You do realise minions can perform better with certain whips for example the stardust dragon and sanguine work well with the firecracker because its special effect deals 2.75 base minion damage but the blade would be bad since it has low base damage. However if you whip stack the blade it can deal more dps because it can attack a lot faster (meaning it benefits more from tag).
