Confirm you're in the right place; Then, If you know how to, make a battle potion, and set up water candles in a big area.

Typically, that gets me what I'm looking to find, VERY quickly.

Prior to the existence of empress of light and queen slime, It took me 7 hours to force a bladestaff drop using that method from enchanted sword mobs in the hallow X_X.

But that will add more stuff to the spawn pool.

The sad thing is, I don't use wormscarf at master tier when I run my sentry kits.

I lean hard into menacing damage boosters.

You set a graveyard on that dryad in hardmode, and she'll sell you blocks or powder for producing the evil that is not present in your world.

There are two approaches I take to sentries, based on my behavior. If I'm running a balanced offense using the sentries, then I use menacing boosters only. If I intend to have the sentries just for area denial, rather than dps; I tend to run lucky accessories that hard boost my main damage type and maybe 1 or 2 minion count boosters, like the papyrus scroll.

I almost never go full warding or any warding when I run sentries these days, barring of course, valhalla.

In mastermode, reducing attack power to me, means adding time to the fight. Time that just allows for me to make more errors and eventually get destroyed.

It's just a question of where I will draw that power from.

Do I equip more minion boosters, and rely more on the minion damage, do I equip more luck boosters, and rely on my weapon damage, or do I equip more menace boosters and mix the damage types? (Sentries can utilize both minion power, and non-minion weapons to similar levels of effectiveness)

I've found that it's very flexible.

If you ever decide to wear sentry armor, I encourage you to mix and experiment with the kits; Most of them are VERY versatile and allow you greater flexibility than the pure class kits in terms of playstyle.

explosive trap sentries in particular are really good for farming

Explosive traps, and lightning auras are also great for exploration.

They will light the area and can be set anywhere there is space for them to land. So poking around in the dark pays off.

I prefer the other two.

Doing the event gets much harder if you haven't already pre-farmed medals for the higher tiers when it upgrades.

The others just don't have enough power to really clean out the spawns in pre-hardmode.

You can 'almost' stack them, unless you're talking about falling trap abuse.

In pre-hardmode, with flinx/bee/frog minions and flametraps, it was just a struggle for me.

The other main reason I don't ilke using the bow, is because I pre-stacked small amounts of cursed, frostburn, and venom arrows.

And I hate doing tedious temporary crap like that.

It really helps though, when you pile on all 3 of those debuffs with oiled.

Arguably, red riding boosted explosion traps would work better if you had some kind of DoT twin working with you.

Maintaining those debuffs is very very hard for their durations.

Prestacking your entire inventory with stacks of 3-10 of each of those arrows sucks.

Ah well as general information it's nice to build a small base near spawn, usually out of wood since it's right there and plentiful. Then explore left and right looking for chests or hollow trees for some starter gear. Then look for a cave or dig down and look fore ores, hearts and more loot

Eventually you'll reach a point where you will be strong enough for the first boss off the game to spawn in
