I would look up an npc relationship graph (one that includes biomes) so you can move npcs that like eachother into a biome they like

okay so you make sure youre on fine-point placer with the ctrl key, and then when the rope youre trying to place is in range, hold down mouse 1. if youre trying to build up with rope, you will have to manually build up with the rope via putting the cursor over your character while you climb the rope vertically

I don't think I have any tips myself. as I haven't paid attention to the methods I used to beat it - though methods for other bosses (Yharon, wall of flesh, things like that) might work on it

the Steam cloud save function is unfortunately kinda infamous for corrupting both worlds and characters, so it is recommended to go into the Steam setting for Terraria and turn it off
