You can also try a town(3+ npcs) with water candle and battle potion, its supposed to increase critters without spawning enemies

I make a big arena on the surface, cover the floor in gray brick or another block so corrupt/crimson enemies dont spawn, spawnproofing the arena helps, you can spawnproof a one-layer arena pretty easily but for multiple layers your only option is to place a lot of walls

Steam Cloud is turned on by default so just pray the files are in there and not corrupted or anything, if you used OneDrive then there is also the possibility of checking there. If you cannot find it in those cloud storages then it is unrecoverable

What exactly are the chances of being in the middle of mining out a hole to clear out some lava in the way of a hellevator when you notice a mimic nearby so you go to mine towards it, but on the way a rune wizard spawns so you kill it and get its robe and hat real quick, then when you kill the mimic it gives you the star cloak which you've been trying to get since the start of hardmode, but then because the weapon you used was a homing weapon, some leftover shots go towards and kill a nymph which you didn't even know was there but then it drops a metal detector which you've also been trying to get since hardmode started

Lockdown switch on unactuated blocks kinda works until hm, if not the classic 1 block on door always work
Like dino said, best is to design houses that enemies cant get in, but in hm ghosts/wraiths/reapers exists

You can build the base so all the solid tiles are 10-15 tiles above the ground to prevent wraiths
Make sure no enemies can spawn on the roof of your base or on platforms above it and then make sure you have no open entries for flying enemies to wander in
