There is a weird bug in windows where the correct time isn't automatically pinged with the setting on and a lot of the time turning the setting off and on fixes it
Failing that a self repair using the advanced restart options is attempted.

ur better off finding an extratinator and and feeding it silt blocks. diamonds are extremely hard to find. if ur tryna make a staff u can opt for emerald instead, theyre slightly worse but def worth the grind

Damage is almost always preferable. Even if using the Terra Blade, the weapon that benefits by far the most from melee speed increases, you still want some damage boosting modifiers to supplement Violent, or just go full Menacing and gain your melee speed from gloves, armor and the Celestial Shell.
Melee speed is still helpful to have for most swords, and some projectile swords do shoot slightly faster, but most do not shoot a projectile with every swing and/or have a limit on the number of active projectiles.
Additionally, some other melee weapons benefit from speed to a significantly lower extent.

Yo i just got like the best start ever, I make a new world where i am planning to play melee, after losing everything due to corrupted files, anyways i find like 7 wooden chest, i got a boomerang and a aglet, i wait till night time, boom fallen star, boom enchanted boomerang, then i go the snow biome, i surprisingly find a ice boomerang in the first ice chest. Do you know what the ice boomerang means? Future Tri-ma-rang! then next chest i search, i find ice skates! Ice skates are easily in my opinion the worst ingredient to get to craft terra spark boots
now hopefully this world i have doesnt corrupt at all! because if it does, ima be pissed and probably quit terraria 😤
