Idk maybe it could be the particle affects or the graphics settings that you're using in comparison to your friend. Depending on the setting you're using it in, it might be the damage numbers on top of particles. I'm guessing though

1.4 worldgen prioritises placing world evil outside of jungle/snow, oceans are the outer bounds of where they spawn which means it's extremely uncommon, and spawn evil just like, doesn't happen, almost ever.
Spawn tends to be pretty level, other biomes maybe a toss-up, but there's not usually extreme terrain.

Hallowed is probably better overall though it lacks some damage. Dodge is mostly worth it unless you don’t think you’re at risk of dying. (Armors have the same slot amount but spider has higher damage%)

Brain is definitely definitely more useful than ankh shield but you could swap squire in maybe, trade off survival for even higher damage. You should use queen spider staff or a tier 2 ooa sentry if you do that though
