No, just dig a small shaft of some kind to halt its spread, or use Sunflowers at the very least. You'll have plenty time to get the Clentaminator to clean up any remaining Corruption, or you can stack up several dozen Sunflowers so your NPC don't get forced out by the Corruption should it reach your base. That's probably easier than digging a bunch of tunnels.

Yup. They halt the grass spread of evil/Hallow and reduce the evil score of an area, eventually allowing NPCs to live in or near Corruption if enough of them are planted. Also weaken the effect of Graveyards.

For me, I tend to just ignore progression to do various things, and then fight whatever boss is next, later.

There is an advantage to small. The world is smaller, which makes it easier and cheaper to traverse, pluss hellevators are much, much faster to dig. It's also faster to find biome chests in the dungeon, faster to find the jungle temple, and faster to travel between pillars.

Small worlds are the faster worlds, for when you just want to get somewhere quicker. Regardless of size, you'll have all the resources you'll need to win.

My first kill on on expert queen slime used crystal darts in the dart rifle, to deal with minions and make accuracy a little less important. I just used my wings to make sure I was always moving.

Shadow knife is great. I've done three goblin invasions, and kille like 15 warlocks, and still haven't gotten it though. I would reccomend grabbing one, but I also wouldn't make it part of your required gear, jsut a nice "if I can get it" weapon.
