I can't remember where to find magic onches but I know they're in chests so just keep looking in those. Demon conch just make sure you can fish in lava and have sonar potions and wait.
The more fishing power the better.

It allows you to see what is currently hooked to your fishing pole.
but wouldn't you figre that out when you reel it in?
It's easier to just let you fishing pole sit in lava and wait until it appears than catch eat item at a time.

Well the sonar potions makes it to where you can see what is currently hooked. Letting your bobber sit in the lava and wait is a lot better than reeling everything in when you have something hooked.

Yup just yesterday actually. I created an artificial dungeon biome with mats I found on another map. Once I had enough wall tile in it he jumped out of nowhere and killed me.

Okay the stuff I'm gonna suggest will be quite a bit of work to get if you don't already have it. But trust me it will make a huge difference.
For staters you might want defensive beetle armor. It has a set bonus where every few seconds it increases the amount of damage reduction for the next hit you take, up to a max of 45%
You might want a terablade cause it has a fast and wide projectile that makes it very easy to hit the moon lord while moving around. It can take quite a bit of effort to get all the parts as it's made from 5 swords and a few other things.
You might also want a UFO mount, it's the only infinite flight mount in classic terraria. You get it from the UFO boss of the martian madness event. You can remove your wings and boots while using it and use those accessories for more offensive or defensive options.
Lastly you want some potions and flasks.
Endurance potion reduces the damage you take by 10%
Flask of Venom puts a strong damage over time effect on melee weapons
Alternatively flask of Ichor gives an effect to your melee weapons that lowers the defense of enemies
Life force potion will increase your max HP by 20% upto 600 max
Ironskin, regen, wrath, and rage potions are also good ideas.
If you need even more help with healing use a charm of myths which increases your life Regen and lowers the cooldown on drinking potions

set up base in the forest biome and collect bunnies, squirrels, and birds. they can all be cooked and you can catch like 100 critters in 1 terraria day
