I couldn't get away from skeletron fast enough without the greatly improved jump speed, even with teraspark boots. FTW skeletron is hard to jump over while he's spinning in an enclosed space

Yeah that was the main problem, that before Corruption/Crimson would leave permanent damage that could become effectively beyond repair.
