I did back in 1.2.2, made it to WoF and stopped there as it doesn't change much after the start part

Guide hit a pot with bombs in, all it took was one ore deposits and tree (and natural anvil) to craft a pick to properly get stuff

Now you can just let the guide kill Slimes till a bomb drops, or go loot some chests with em in

or casually get a fiberglass fishing pole with some cans of worms
