Depends on your playstyle. I really like Summoner for Mobile, since you generally aren't as reactive, nimble or quick to aim as usual and can focus more on dodging and occasionally whipping the enemy, but you have low defense to compensate. On the other end, Melee has really great defense and a wide variety of weapons for close and medium range combat of all shapes and sizes.

a lot of jungle weapons are very powerful early on. Boomstick from jungle chests. Blade of grass, thorn chakram, Amazon, snapthorn from jungle materials

There’s also nice weapons from chests in other biomes like on the surface you can get wooden boomerang and use 1 fallen star to craft enchanted boomerang. Mace from gold chests can be combined with 99 torches to get flaming mace. Ice blade from underground snow biome chests is decent.

You can also craft a gold/platinum bow and/or armor to help early on, or break 2 shadow orbs or crimson hearts and see what you get

First orb/heart is always a really good gun

also wand of sparking from wooden chests + ice torches makes wand of frosting which is pretty powerful. You can work on Gem staffs as a better Magic alternative or find Thunder zapper in desert chests

Good arena building is essential to easily maneuver around the boss, especially on higher difficulties. Hooks are typically used as a burst method of movement. Shoot it at a platform and jump off when you reach it to regain normal movement.
