tbh, hornet staff for what its worth isnt much better than vamp frog, espcecially considering the stingers arent super fast and you have to kill queen bee, a boss that is harder than just killing EoW/BoC and getting a pickaxe to get imp staff

hornet allows for ranged attacks and poison, but vampfrogs are persistent with attacks so its 50/50 really

Technically, you only need the corruption to spawn him in. If you flee to a Crimson biome after spawning the Eater of Worlds, he will follow you into the crimson.
