I messed around a bit with ideas, and I'm thinking this is kinda what I'm gonna go for.
I'm gonna have the entire thing inspired by Ultrakill's prelude: The Mouth of Hell. Basically I'll build the actual building with the gates first (the purple part), with it being modeled after the Cerberus level except that I'll try to make it more temple-like. And on top of that I'll build a facility (the orange part) that will be modeled after the rest of the Prelude levels, the goal being to make it look like people discovered the gates and built an elevator to reach it as well as a facility to research it and perform expeditions. I'll probably add a room somewhere as well that implies the Chuthulu cultists built the facility, or someone hired by the cultists.

Honestly look at other people’s builds and try to dissect how and why they do things

Why are their walls more interesting? —> wooden beams framing the room, wallpaper, themed decor, etc

This floor has more detail than mine—> they probably used a mix of stone blocks with gray and white paint, some have rough textures while others are bricks

Those are kinda basic examples because I’m not sure where you’re at with building, but hopefully the idea makes sense

Practice is the most important thing though

Here is the dome with both white painted purple silly balloon (the first image used pink silly balloon) and pink slime block

Balloon blocks seem to allow more light in, there are walls behind all the lines

The white stripes on the wall portions remain purple silly balloon wall for the pink slime as there isn't pink slime wall

Working on an underground city, hopefully to use for reference in drawing

That being said, having trouble getting a whismical feel to its design. The violet painted mythril and spike bricks (meant to be orichalcum instead) help, but they dont feel enough

The spike block is somewhat inspired by the castles in Super Mario Bros 3 as well

given my complete lack of experience (my experience with aesthetic builds prior to this world is zero) and that this was an ash wood box connected to an ash wood box pool squished between two tree growing areas in space on a getfixedboi seed, I think I did a good job with the place.

if you want to see the pixel art better in person you can paint them with illuminate coating, so there arn't shadows in the middle

I tried swapping the copper brick for demonite brick, and then tried putting teal and deep teal paint on each version to see which made better verdigris

I love the realistic instead of just filling it with detail. Sometimes it's nice to see a build that looks used and functional instead of just pixel art

I do agree honestly. I am trying to build the stuff using historical references in mind. However, I twist in Fantasy and my own personal touches. I also add stuff in the best of what I personally have seen IRL.

The Tavern & Inn is west of the main build. Got to put in a military barracks and such between them at some point.

I like towns and settlement builds. I like to make medieval villages. I use background walls all around with towers and put huts inside.

That's a good thing too. Towers, high walls, layered walls, and multiple layers of security was a thing for medieval builds. If it's a dual wall I tend to make one higher than the other cause of the Archer aspect ... or in the case of Terraria a sniper or gunner.

guys hear me out, what if there was a new best sword in the game, crafted with: true star wrath (made with 100 luminite bars and star wrath), true copper sword (shimmering zenith), terragrim, flying dragon and Christmas tree sword. I’m thinking maybe 300-350 base dmg

I don’t rlly think it would be rlly good to have it bc it would just be too op, but I like my concept
