Me too, plan is to have this sword stab all the way to my shimmer biome and have spiral staircases on each side. Also saw something interesting with chains to make it look like it's held in place. Might add some arcane wall paper down the middle too.

with the first one how did you make it look so natural with the lighting for the blocks?

Right side is just palladium collum painted, and the left is the same except the top bit which is bubblegum pained white. Left side of the blade is white gemstone wall painted grey and the right side is blue gemstone painted grey. Both sides are surrounded by echo walls to make it fit. I have some mods installed so Idk if they affect the lightning like you're mentioning.

If you have the painter, you can try various smooth blocks painted white, or dynasty or living wood. If not, smooth marble is already white. I don't know exactly what you're going for, so can also try gray stucco or snow brick. White dynasty wall is probably the best bet without paint.

Dynasty wood is a building staple, but is sold from traveling merchant for 50 copper each. Recommend picking some uip when you can, it is one of the most used materials.

Well i guess the main problems with bats spawning, is that they aren’t slimes, if there was a any block where the pool of mobs that can spawn on it is more bias towards slimes that would be ideal or like how garden gnomes spawn alot on living wood walls

but If you can just kill everything which isn’t a slime super quickly, that does open up the spawn slot for another slime so that’s good

there doesnt seem to already exist a guide like this, but id be interested in classifying which blocks spawn which specific enemies, and which enemies are biome specific and which ones are block specific,
for example placing granite allows granite elementals too spawn on top of it, independent of which biome you're in, jungle bats spawn just if you're in the jungle, and dont need a block to spawn on,
and then there are things like unsafe living wood walls, which only allow gnomes and critters to spawn, and unsafe spider walls which only spawn spiders,
i think having a index of how you can manipulate what enemies spawn where would be pretty handy, i'm still looking for ways to min-max slime spawn rates in the cavern layer,

like, theoretically right now my farm spawns skeletons and shellys and bats and slimes, but if i replaced the floors with granite, would it instead spawn granite elementals instead of shellys and zombies, do zombies require stone/dirt or can they spawn globally on any block type, having a wiki page or a calculator for how to make certain things spawn and exclude others would be handy no?

im trying to get better at building, when im choosing a block or wall, should i care about its color? or do builders just paint over everything in their buidlls to be the collor they want

look for the right texture and patterns first, then if you find a block that has the looks you want but with the wrong color you just paint it over

but there should already be plenty blocks with the right colors and patters to satisfy you already

Usually we just paint over, but some blocks, specifically very light blocks like clouds or very dark blocks like obsidian, can’t be colored well

Although deep paint can fix that too

Unfortunately color is very limited in this game, really hope they ad some type of paint mixer one day for infinite color possibilities

hey, how's this pattern for my old well?

still working on it btw, just kinda trying to get a feel for the block pallet and pattern

i do feel the skulls are an issue, but that is really hard to control

might try to hammer for em after this is all done

i liked the texturing in the background from before better but i think its nice that you put some dents in the side blocks and stuff, with mud coming in. neat
