ohh yellow stucco could be tech
try painting it brown and see if its beige or a weird light orange
stucco doesnt take paint well from my experience
depends on the stucco & depends on the colour
like gray stucco won't be great with most regular colours but deep paints show
meanwhile red & yellow stucco take regular paints decently since they aren't well, gray
i always kept using stucco for carpet but the flinx fur block saved my life
flinx fur blocks are definitely better for carpets yea
and cozierš
stucco still have plenty great use though that i'll continue to use them for though
great block in particular for pixel arts
ooo yeah
but yellow stucco even without paint is great to mix with sandstone brick
for example
i tried all the stucco colors with the same paint and found out that green stucco looks shinier than the other colors
sure can't wait to recreate this old ahh build with ACTUAL carpet flooring
I was using uh desert fossils? for my own carpeting schemes iirc
Living wood gray also wasnt bad
Also this buid is both super cute but also so cringe in some areas and its so conflicting >_<
Old ass build, im sure you already know, but godddd.
holy peak
ty :D
yeah ik, that's why i'm gonna remake it
You can!
i was told to use imgur to put builds here tho
belive in yourself and practice!
Its a well respected and known site
but i was told thats the only known way to post stuff here
it is, unless you have the terrarian role
i was told you need about 600+ messages for terrarian role xd
something like that
nice
nice
you should attempt to post your own work. so we can give pointed advice and make you stronger
okay i think i got it?
oh
nice
it worked
i think-
the only difference is the top but thats about it
(and the grass)
difficult to judge your fundamentals based on this. because it is so similar to the vanilla structures
the vanilla structures are in general kinda trash, so. it carries over.
bc i put a rope to a end of the structure
so i can get up there
but it isnt on the image
I havent played 1.4.5 but I heard theres good structures in that
yea
but thats the exception, not the rule
You should try building a normal house, its an excellent way to show off fundamentals (or lack there of)
with the woods and stones and stuffs

this counts as a terraria creation sorta, i made this video of my gnome farm design
Terraria 1.4.5 introduced many new features. Among these, they made it possible to get unsafe living wood and dirt walls. This feature allows for improved gnome and mimic farms anywhere.

Can I build multiple of this stacking on top if each other
you should be able to. it would have to be wired tho bc you need a way to break the gnomes

How do you do this?
i open up the sprite in aseprite

good use for some negative painted blocks as they are quite hard to use, a lot of ores are some of my favourites with the paint but I don't use it much

itās not as cool
Thanks, I'll let my buddy know

True true, it will be cool to see once you have figured it out completely
btw, stink debuff actually decreases your luck, also NPCs will refuse to sell you stuff
ngl, kinda wish Terraria had a cooking mechanic, so many food items but the only way to get them is to kill specific mobs
btw, lil suggestion but try and make a gibbet with one of those hanging skeletons
gibbeting is an old form of prison sentence, the condemned are caged and hung along a road or public area where they're exposed to the elements to die
their bodies in the cages however may be left there as a display and warning

should I name this either the laser machine railgun or L.M.R.G. in-game?
fuck idkkk
I'm thinking of lmrg, but I want to hear what other people think
Uhmmm lmrg might make it sound too reminiscent of the sdmg and so people might expect a fast bullet based minigun
Unless that's what it does tho in which case it's perfect
I will name it the laser machine railgun on the workshop page btw, so it's just about what sounds cooler
it's a resprite of the laser machine gun btw
Oh uhh hm then laser machine railgun then

Do you need a special rank to send images, just wondering
you need to be a member of relogic
ok i cant send images cuz i litteraly just joined but i need advice on my hallowed npc houses
i really dont like the pearl wood is there a better alternative?
actually wait lemme make an imgur
aside from it just being a hallow biome house, is there something youre specifically going for?
nah
ig kinda like a lookout tower?
expect the party girl has turned it into like a penthouse type of thing
iād say best tip is to just have an idea/reference for what you want. itāll make blocking choices a lot easier
for the class pillars i made once i got to the pillars i instantly started working on this
should just rename the channel to "#how-to-send-images"

thereās already like #how-to-report and #how-to-vc

that looks so cool!!!
this is SO cozy i love it
ty! :)
I saw a project on YouTube, of this guy making a Gameboy themed adventure map, and it got me thinking that it would be really neat if we got a coating that makes certain blocks unaffected by all or specific monolith effects, that or coatings that apply those monolith effects to the chosen blocks and objects
just saying this here since this idea would be more relevant to us builder folk
A way of obtaining the coating(s) could be shopping at the painter whilst a monolith is active
thanks g š

Bone Temple Tower
better than anything else than i can create ngl
The shape itsels is pretty simple. I just used a good variety of blocks and additional tools for effect.

im really bad at building and ive got little to no imagination, but i really want to build. Does anyone have any tips on how to be more creative? I have a few design ideas i dont know how to add detail or make it look good
1: Shapes
2: Material variety
3: Furniture and accessories.
Try breaking down my build to see how these principles apply.
what blocks did u use for the walls? cuz I think I never seen one or two them before
Boulder block walls for the outside, stone walls for the middle and bone walls for the frames. The windows are red stained glass.
ohhh ok, thanks
Hell yeah, the Wiki says 1.4.5.6 is out! Time to hop onto GOG, downloading something new and finding out the Camera Mode still doesn't work for me š„² (Edit: actually nevermind, GOG.com is unusable right now)
Is this based on the irl building you sent yesterday?
Inspired by it, yes.
cool
I couldn't get the columns I wanted, so I decided to do my own variation with arches.
I'm doing my first playthrough rn and I was so surprised it didn't have cooking with how many mechanics are in this game
it's for the sake of balance sadly
because the satisfied buffs can be very helpful
so the good/rare foods are locked behind monsters
to kill a moon squid just to learn how to cook
Yes
the forbidden calamari has equally forbidden knowledge
I mean it's that rare to find good calamari irl so it's accurate
tbf, there isnt much to do post-moon lord aside from remaining achievements, building, and new playthroughs
Yea I just beat him for the first time today and after I get BIS ima do achievements then I really wanna learn building and terraforming
BIS?
Hey guys! In this video, I'll show you how to turn a plain wooden square "NPC Box" into a nice and quant little country style cottage using materials easily-obtained in the very-early stages of the game (before fighting any bosses.) I hope you enjoy it and I hope this helps some people out there!
ā¶My Social Media:

tutorial may be old but not much has changed since 1.3 in terms of how to build
Bet
also this one is slower pace and more beginner friendly
more advanced build strats you can refer to Khaios
general rule of thumb, treat Terraria building like painting since it's 2d
btw sunflowers help contain the corruption
they dont work against crimson though
What other people have said.
Interesting shapes. Variety of blocks and walls. Detailing.
Here's a build that's simple that can be studied, which uses a couple basic techniques
The best way to build is to brute force it. Force out a shape, and do your best to improve it to the ends of your ability
Designate a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, etc and decorate into that
... I love the build overall...
But that picture over the fireplace bothers me.
I'm sorry.
I tried to ignore it... But it's hard.
It's a centerpiece UwU
Solid advice for builders though. I definitely like it.
new window outside painting is better
nice role btw

No, I mean... The wooden beams and the picture.
There's one gap between the gray brick and the wooden beams on the right side.
There's two gaps on the left.
Symmetry is the enemy
oh lol
I avoid it whenever possible
i lean towards symmetry all the time, but when i dont, it usually has to be drastic
Overall, for building objects and shapes... Designs, things that are temporary, I agree.
Like, plate designs for food, items of three draw the eyes in.
At that point i would have had the bricks lead up the rightmost tile of the fireplace instead of centered
But room that you typically reside in...
Those are usually balanced in design.
At that point it would've been better to tile build a fireplace
I could have a living room with two green and two black walls...
Which works against the purposefully simple techniques in the build
youre right youre right
I couldn't have a room with two green, one white, and one black lol...
It's overall elegant.
I was just explaining what I saw.
I need to rebuild it sometime tbh
No. Don't.
Kitchen is like, all modded tiles
Here's some more pictures of my world, some more stuff I've been working on.
It really is all great.
nah keep old builds
if you were to rebuild it just remake it somewhere else
i deleted too many nostalgic places of mine
I don't have as favorable of opinion on modded furniture as I did back then
Oh no, the world file is like
Why does the angel hate the floating islands?
Long long gone
oh lol
The only thing left of the build will forever be this image
i just never play modded so im always looking for new ways to do stuff
Haha. I made her about 12 years ago.
Tile built furniture, beloved,,
... And this amazing conversation lol.
Was it lore-related, or just an experiment?
great in particular for kitchen building
another simple style of tile built furniture i did in the past is marble column with 3 sloped platforms above it for a nice shorter table
not quite dynasty height table, but also not quite usual vanilla table height
downside is no placing stuff ontop of it
i loosely based this kitchen off my own
That's siiiock
& that is kind of how my kitchen is laid out from fridge to counterspace
... You have a talking fish/fish trophy in your kitchen?
as i have fridge, counter, sink in the counter & then more counterspace, all of which is a marble style counterspace
hence the loosely
Lol sounds like you need a housewarming gift!
No. Pixel art. My world has pixel art throughout.
pixel art fun to build, albeit some cases can be quite time consuming depending on scale
most recent ones i did at least didn't take me too long as both were quite small, being cultist & chippy's vanity set
I'm not a big fan of pixel art in terraria tbh.
Like, it's obviously impressive and time consuming. But it doesn't spark anything in me
me neither, unless its like stained glass windows with images on them
There... Is so much here to absorb.
Well, that's not pixel art for the sake of pixel art
It's used for the themes and decoration of a build
yeah
I'm assuming though pixel art leads to actually designing art you could use for creating mods.
It is simply just another fun medium to work with the limitations of either in-game or map view pixel art as the style. Just like other forms of building, it is just yet another medium the game offers
I used pixel art for comics.
And failed miserably after twenty comics lol.
Just like how some players enjoy working with wiring
Here's my main spawn, the place you first see when you join.
joey you joined terraria discord on terrarias birthday lol
Okay, seriously... I need you to create High Hrothgar.
My take is that you have to lock the player into the path, so they are forced to climb all 7,000 steps to the top.
Everybody, go to @proper ivy profile!
Here's a bit of my Hell builds.
Just joking lol.
Lol
Seriously, that mountain... The climb...
My buddy made this for me about 12 years ago for me back on PS3, I still have his custom dungeon in my world, lol.
When you create a server, is there a way to modify a code that prevents players from destroying a specific block?
It's like a 8 minute climb.
Server plugins can enable tile protection, yes
Oh, psh. High Hrothgar needs to be doubled that easily lol.
You need mods, but the old PS3 trick was to just disable autosave and exit without saving.
T, let me pick your brain about something... For a moment?
Lore wise maybe. But in base Skyrim?
It's about 8-10 minutes
Maybe less
Lol could you imagine a Dragonborn plug-in? And if the Dragonborn isn't camping out, then that mountain isn't big enough lol.
I want him to quit halfway up, start a family, lose them all to bandits, hunt them down, and realize he's actually only 10% of the total way there lol.
Sorry, I was going to ask...
Random question that pertains to it... Have you played Super Mario World for SNES?
Doesn't take long with the right wings
That's why we enclose the path with painted lizard blocks.
You commit fully to High Hrothgar.
smw is a good game ye, namely one of the more enjoyable 2d mario games in terms of movement for kaizo opportunities imo
You remember those "!" switches and the palaces where you find them?
yea
I was thinking about a multiplayer action map with all of the team blocks.
But I hate how easy they are to break.
I loved the idea of team blocks being toggles and only beneficial to the team that they're on.
Brb
doable with server plugins
I remember servers back in the old days using server protection mods but there were āwaysā around itā¦
... Okay... Could you have purple players walk through purple blocks using server plug-ins?
would be more of a modded thing than server plugins to give that kind of functionality
You can fly above the protection and just spam drop sand that falls into the protected areas and nobody can remove it.
I'm leaning less to that and more towards preventing block destruction lol.
There's something... Intriguing about giving players their respective large gems and having them choose what to use them for.
The idea of losing them by leaving them, or dying and dropping them, fascinates me.
preventing different teams from breaking specific blocks is doable with server plugins but allowing players to just walk through blocks outright would be much more jank to do in vanilla
Yeah... But why would you do that lol.
Uhhhh.. people be dicks, lol.
We can skip that lol.
I like the idea that the people base has a purple gate blocking all other players.
I could imagine one team cheesing off everybody and their fortress just getting surrounded...
i wish team blocks had some purpose to them tbh
team blocks are niche for pixel art usage, as for their general texture they uh, work for solar panels
some other tech build usecases too, cyberpunk as well
but past that not much
They added a new set called "dull team player blocks"...
is there even a point to those
ive never seen team blocks used
i doubt id see dull team blocks
I'm working on making a house for my Dryad. I decided to do what I did before and have it be a giant tree, but instead of using an already existing one I'm making an entirely new one since there isn't one near spawn.
I'm doing the leaves right now, and I've been trying for about an hour now but I just can't get the outline to look like the living trees do.
https://imgur.com/a/vQvj2Rp
i would personally use black painted aetherium brick for a solar panel
big fan of how aetherium brick looks when painted
this build here is the best example of team block usage imo #terraria-creations message
oh wow, took me a second to notice
I noticed that the leaves of living trees have some lumps in them, but when I tried recreating that it just felt too lumpy to me
i needed to see an example of a solar panel to really see how good (but niche) of a use it is lol
in general solarpunk as a style is something that barely anyone does or talk about, but when someone does do it, they do it fantastically
it's a style i have been interested in learning myself but just haven't got around to the project ideas in mind for it yet
The team player blocks are on the top of each column... The dull blocks are on the base and underside lol.
literally never heard of it before right now tbh
nature-tech focused aesthetic is a quick way to sum it up
im trying to build my first cyberpunk build on tewwawia (also itll be my biggest build) and maybe i should try to pivot to that
which is where a lot of sustainable energy sources come into play such as solar panels, wind turbines, etc
make it so finally someone does the style bad š
big fan of a living wood candle as just sort of... a thing
like microscope
ive used it as like a cash register
You might not have come across it because team player blocks are sold by the traveling merchant.
i know of team blocks
its just that ive never heard of solarpunk or of anyone using team blocks
I retract my statement then lol.
its like a little cash register
i wonder if there were any better things to use for that
it needed to be smaller so i couldnt use like a bamboo candle, though i did consider it
maybe having a switch attatched to an echo coated block?
I finished another portrait
kinda reminds me of kirara with the star eyes
I was going for a slightly anime-ish/more stylized look for her so yay
@mint imp , you might like this build too.
make the stylist and mechanic cute too pls š š
literally the only 2 portraits i care about
idk what it is about the stylist one but shes so pretty
How to build in 3d
I think whether they'll look cute or not would depend on what your definition of cute is
theres a guide in pins
3D Building Guide By SpeeQz1 In this guide you will learn how to build 3 Dimensional builds in Terraria. You will be taught the fundamentals and rules necessary to construct some truly amazing builds. Summary: Basics Perspectives & Projections Shaping Shading Slopes Shadows Advanced Shaping Isom...
biggest thing is actuators and walls
Thank you
i love that princess portrait already
Pretty nice
So far I only know that 3d building needs different shades
I remember doing a triangle frame build once
like an A frame house?
it feels like thats every other house where i live lol
My goal is to add this to a mushroom biome.
The guide and mushroom can live in peace...
But I wanted something that the guide could call his own.
For the arms dealer, you can stick an ammo box in that blocked off area to the left.
Agreed lol.
I think I might as well show the guide npc portrait i did
I don't like it that much tho
reminds me of todoroki from mha bc of the scar
Instead of his mom giving it to him though it's terraria's playerbase /j
i guess it does make sense
I know it's a scar... But it looks like shading... Like he's hiding.
It looks great.
we do drop him in lava to progress
i like the current guide but it also doesnt look much like his sprite
What?
Reminds me i actually screwed up and gave him an extra finger in the portrait but I kept it in anyways because I think it'd be a funny subtle nod to the whole "Guide = WoF" thing
The way the spooky wood in the foreground turns into the background brick for the floor transition
There's... A sickly, sweet innocence to him. I can't put my finger on it.
holy shit, is he the author of the journals
Yeah the Guide was actually Stan's twin brother all this time trust me /j
This is so freaking complicated, I have been building for 7 years this shi so hard for me
Agreed
The hair I drew for him there I especially felt like I could do better
i was more talking about the current portrait
i like that portrait tho even if it isnt perfect compared to the guide
he looks a little š
Oh you meant the official one
My bad
i wasnt clear tbh so its not your fault
Oh my goodness I didn't want to say that!
But seriously, I actually love the androgynous look.

I think it's fitting.
Thanks!
sorry, more on the stylist
Especially since he spends his entire time studying, researching, helping...
i didnt care for her mcuh before the portrait
Avoid the direct eye contact!
I havent drawn the stylist yet
But I did draw the mechanic like once in a short comic
stylist has always been one of my favourite npcs, great use for vanity & in particular my consistent favourite design wise with strong designs for her regular & shimmered variants.
But... They're in love.
i just kinda made my character how i liked on creation and didnt change it tbh
It's literally like the scene from Shrek lol.
plenty terraria community artists also have great depictions of the stylist too
plus of course crowno's portraits are fantastic too
Also, I feel like she could say that to the cyborg.
ill check those out when i get the chance fs!
XD
i thought it was like this situation
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2434616874
Crowno is so good, you don't even realize it lol.
eugh, i hate looking on the steam workshop
occasionally i just get flashbanged by some like freaky dryad or zoologist pack
Do you think that the Kwad Racer Drone should hover?
I feel like having the jump button used for hovering would be good...
And then you can just tilt when it's in hover-mode.
yeah
WAAAAAH GIVE ME STARBOUND DEVELOPMENT
using it now is a little annoying
yeah, its very annoying to use on mobile, especially since I make and test farms, I needed to see how well they perform, so most of the time, I had to place a landing pad in the middle of the farm just so I can view it in its entirety while its operating, and since Im on mobile, its very difficult to control
That isn't Starbound lol...
It seems nice though. I've only found two builds that would look nice from Starbound to terraria.
I was kind of wishing that the Kwad Racer could be upgraded into one of those RC cars that convert...
Kind of like an Inspector Gadget vehicle that transforms with one press of a button.
I never even imagined the wall driving part before.
I think what throws me off though...
Can a drone be smaller than a standard RC car?
Gave a character I like (the Guide) flowers :3
Yeah... He's definitely adorable.
Now draw Red holding flowers that someone gave him!
It looks 3d
anyone else have a better resolution of this are a source or something?
I just wanna... borrow, yes, borrow the idea
if youre borrowing then you should only need this
but ill see if i can reverse image search
Thank You almighty Sour

found the original buildiung of it
google reverse image search is the goat what can i say
almighty?
not enough to start a cult, but the idea is there
i think someone else called me smth along those lines before
def not almightly tho
im just some bitch
one with too much free time
any summoner main are almighty
im doing ammoless ranger rn despite being a summoner main
so u only have like, 3(?) options?
rough
barrel launcher will make it easier
but wof and ml will be rough
piranha gun and harpoon
i guess it would be the other way
hmm
i might need some more lights on the right side (or less on the left)
a lil bit of both probably
yeah i like my lights more scarce
nah, make every open space some light source
make it so the npcs are living in the sun
spam stone candelabras and chandeliers
however much light you think you need, double itā¦
fair enough, i just like it when you can see the edges of torchlight yknow
i'd have to rename the desert to flashbang dunes or something
Light sources are items, tiles, pets, and projectiles that produce light. Some are brighter than others and produce varying colors of light. Note that several weapons and armor types also generate light, but are not listed on this page. The tile ranges listed within this page are based on default settings, with no buffs or debuffsā¦
w light sources and great decor when turned off too
i use like living wood candles for any contraption i need
the stone dresser and table have been part of my pillar designs lately
oooh
i've been breaking up walls with stone work benches
living wood candles is like a good 50% of light sources in one of my worlds LOL
#terraria-creations message
talked about it a bit up here
yee marble work bench has a competitor now
iām kinda proud of this little 2x3 cash register
i spam those everywhere lol
best cash register is office bathtub but thats gonna take up 4 tiles so its a big dedication lol
didn't have palladium or a painter at the time but i like this better
i believe gothic bricks work for that now
havenāt tried it yet tho
wooooow
but thatās a smart use
The Bathtub is a decorative furniture item. It fulfills a house's requirement of a flat-surface item.
There is a total of (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 43 / (Old-gen console version) 16 / (3DS version) 11 Bathtub types, all being functionally identical but presenting different appearances.
hmmm i still need a wiring project idea
wow yeah, thatās pretty good
also building without paint is kinda nice
iām on phone rn so itās easier to just /wiki
one of my favorite tiles in the game is the top middle of the lamp post except down one
its a little cross and if you paint it brown and put it over sails or dynasty wall it looks GREAT for like tatami wall
bruh this lightning is crazy outside
i assume youāll be using it more when they add the tile cropping and floating furniture they showed in the feb state of the game
actually gonna be THE biggest building update ever
i wonder how theyāll implement it
yeah who knows
i think its gonna be some sort of copy paste wand
like tedit
yoraizor is in grand design so its likely that he pitched that idea to everyone else
maybe post ml
probably
also unlikely
i believe yorai is a female (?)
its such a massive update for builders that its very unlikely to lock it behind end game
wizard?
Wingardium Leviosa
speaking of grand design i hope they saw the suggestion about a grand design type item for painting
true
wizards best use is to shimmer and look like he's from final fantasy
its quite annoying having to carry a lot of paint in the inventory
im bad at organizing paints too i need it
they NEED to overhaul paint
cant with the current game engine
hey one or two of my magic playthroughs needed a restock on potions
i just farm biome mimics for that
they could make a grand design paint tool but yeah they cant change paints iirc
crazy
dont they have 1 paint type left tho?
gets me both potions
illuminant left a slot yes
it wouldve been nice if u can stack paint
iāve heard adding more grand design type tools is like pretty much off the table
bc of how spaghetti the code is
is red orange a bad suggestion
i personally think we need another yellow
when we could have broken deep sky blue back, yes
gold
redigit cooked the game code in the early days italian style
yeah
actually yellow sucks youre right
al dente
current yellow apparently is slightly green
and also just too yellow
whats this about btw?
i finally saw that firsthand today with someone else's screenshot of the code lol
like a muted yellow would be nice
something like that
OMG
I WAS TRYING TO USE YELLOW PALLADIUM COLUMN WITH SANDSTONE
made me so mad
literally 2 hours ago
here's a six year old image
is that sky blue
we donāt need more blues tbh
pre 1.4 bugged deep sky blue
like green - blue - purple is so over saturated rn
blue got spoiled for paints
warm colors got shafted
pink red orange yellow... lime green teal cyan sky blue blue purple violet
hey that's my image
and the creator is red
LOL FR
yup lol
i have a pic of every paint on waterfall walls somewhere in here
here's a bigger picture from mr bones
found it
This is something that has been pitched to Re-Logic many times over the years. Met with a "Terraria 2 kind of suggestion" response
if thats what deep sky blue looked like still i would be using that constantly
Was a bug naturally, would be nice as a standalone paint
ye
doesnt even work in void bag
Likely leans more into technical limitations
shrug
i guess
is it possible to change paint colors with texture packs
i kinda doubt it (?)
from what i understand, each paint just hue shifts the block or smth
so itās not a new texture
yeahhh
but i could be wrong
thelp or tchat might have better answers
people there could know more
or tgd would be the best
The current implementation of painting is limited for code reasons
Altho realisticially I assume that Re-Logic could def fix it if they just invest some time in it
Heck I specifically remember a mod about any paint
not to self make things small
1.3 mods were goated
ive pretty much finished the layout of my house, i just need to get building materials and the thing is i dont even know how half the blocks look, any tips?
if you don't know how some blocks look you should try exploring your options
look for blocks you've never seen or interacted with before and think they could be interesting to use. who knows? maybe it has a really cool furniture set or walls that fit a really nice specific texture you like
its also a good idea to experiment with paint, you could use a block's texture while maintaining colour consistency, which lets you use more blocks for different things
Im going for a medieval-ish style so im gonna be using mostly living wood, normal wood and stone and its variants
you should look for different wood variants and bricks
any recommendations?
mahogany wood, ebonwood, (both painted brown), stone bricks and slabs, dungeon brick walls painted grey or brown depending on where you want to use them
boreal
please paint boreal brown, without paint it looks like ass outside the tundra
large bamboo
yep
W wood
i should use it more idk why i keep opting for shit like fences for my pillars
ash wood too
living wood walls are nice as well
What kind of palladium column is this
bamboo and mahogany wood are both from the jungle, boreal from the tundra, bricks and slabs are crafted, i recommend getting a heavy assembler for access to more recipes, ebonwood is from the corruption, dungeon bricks from the dungeon, although later on you get access to materials that let you craft all 3 colors of dungeon brick, ash wood from the outer ends of the underworld, and living wood and leaf walls are crafted at a living loom, usually found in the huge living trees.
paint and all the appropriate tools are from the painter NPC.
I lowkey wanna decorate the dream catcher
but its gonna be annoying to do in phm
cuz conveyor belts
it uses both the block and the wall
they just hammered the block to allow the edge of the wall to be visible
https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?attachments/capture-2023-07-14-20_43_53-png.414971/ i found this online can anyone tell me what block the roof is made of? š¤
thats bueitiful
nevermind i found out it's dynasty shingles from travelling merchant
Good morning!
morning
morning
No matter how many worlds i make. I am never happy with them. I think i make my builds too big and not very pretty looking..?
can you show your build
the blue stuff? blue dynasty shingles, from travelling merchant
It's easy to get overwhelmed...
oh you had already found out, oops!
But you have to have a clear idea of what you're aiming for and have patience.
I had a bunch of worlds that had extra builds, but right now, I have a personal world in which the "perfect" buildings exist...
And I have an adventure map I'm creating.
There are a few other worlds I have that are created by others... I use them as inspiration.
I'm sure you are familiar with Khaios... He released a pylons map, a golf map, and a customized build map lol.
The only other one I have is a Hogwarts map that I helped give input on.
Any design suggestion for Old Oneās arena?
how long did that rake you to make?
half an hour I think
how manyt stars do you get per night?
How i upload pics here?
I think i have it clear at first. But after i finish it, it looks bad... I am not happy with my builds...
this is an example of what i build
generally i want something with beach. turquoise colors and pinks and roses and hearts.
seashells and colorful trees
and build something like a modern town
i hate placing background walls its so horrid
Smart cursor?
no, its with precise placement that it anoys me
anyone know what wall i can place inside this little attic area? im looking for 1 to fill out but dont quite know what looks best
Changed the position of the sky islands on this build.
if you dont want walls poking out of it you can consider making the exterior one block thicker
I have an example build I can show...
or you could use fences
ya got the painter i see, try brown painted shadewood wall (or negative painted...) or you can try a combination of bricks & vertical wood walls (such as ebonwood wall) / wooden beam
This work?
im utterly shocked at how people can build this
You can try this kind of design
Just add some support beams
Hopefully these builds can inspire some ideas.
Like shadewood walls painted brown
And rich mahogany walls for horizontal beams also painted brown
Remember, you don't need to use a single wall. You can get creative and spice it up.
That's mine
i know
May i?
Spooky wood is the best
This should give more ideas too.
Debatable, But its great for detailing, no doubt.
Okay now at this point we're just flexing outr builds
how do u get those crates?
Fishing
Will this work
Terraria has so many blocks and walls, and the fact that you can paint them means there's near limitless possibilities.
I FORGOT to add detail on the foundation of the red house
how long have you been building for?
holy shit
I still don't know how to build in 3d
My world is 12+ years old.
hey so i rebuilt your roof so i can test some things out for you before you want to commit to building them
lol
its smaller but
I see this guy has potential and is determined in building
it took me like 20 minutes almost to just build that roof
howd you do that so quick
It takes practice
Here's a partial map screenshot of my world that is 12+ years old, originating from PS3. Builds still under construction.
i mean yeah i have been playing this game since i was 5 years old it's engrained in my brain
is there a way to get rid of the walls poking out on the side?
You can cover them
echo walls but probably not what ur lookin for
With another block
if i make another layer like the outer one will it be seperated like they are rn?
a
if you stretch it out, it looks like roof is made of logs
alr ill try that
Looks good so far, you can always add in some torches or other sprites.
That's the same design he built
I just covered the overlapping walls with blocks
Not the small roof
is this good lol
seeing your builds makes me realize that my builds are too big and not very well thought out...
That's the usual design I go for when making those kind of roofs lmao
ash wood and large bamboo are too good to pass up
It's good bro
but if not available i would use ebonwood wall and regular wood wall
just for the simple vibes
I'll stick with rich mahogany, ebobwood/shadewood
Anyone got any ideas of what I should replace the spikes with? Not really feeling them tbh.
try sharp spike block
nccc, the sky islands reminds me of Chained Isles from Shadow Slave
its almost the same thing except a little bit of a different look
Use the new gothic block
ohhh
Gothic block? Have not used it yet.
You can try it, it's veryy thin and has a spike thing on the end
ehh dont use sharp spike
sharp spike is good for rectangular shapes
š„
i used haywalls but i might switch for the ones you did, also what are those white-ish walls inside?
You might wanna try to use gothic block
But it won't have a sharp spike on the end to the left and right
i said them earlier :) negative painted shadewood wall
i've never seen it used before but i LOVE them
u guys sharing roof designs?
yuh
uhh how do i achieve negative? is it just scraped off normal walls ?
@glossy sail asked for roof design ideas
ooh nice
aw man, only sold in hardmode from painter
U need to be in hard mode
that's fair roofs are hard
mind if I share some
alr
Shingles can be a good way to start
what's a good desert town trope i can put in here somewhere
I like this with the gothic brick. @spring kiln
i think ill just add a window in the center and leave it as is
It works well doesnāt it
Yes it does
I'm trying to make a new dungeon design using gothic bricks
ye just like this
Build far predates gothic bricks but it works
shaping it is really hard
Fr
what are these blocks on the roofs? i swear ive been looking for something like that but i have no clue what theyre called
a little crane system carrying bricks or crates
that's just iron platforms painted lime u can use any platform tbh
try experimenting with the platforms u have
btw the main bulk of the roof is made of dynasty shingle blocks, and all that wall is meteorite wall painted
needs some more red banners
wth am i looking at 3d in my 2d game? blasphemy
i placed stone platforms and i cant paint them, is this only stone or are all platforms unpaintable?
idk terraria mobile have a button with a profile. its even show number
stone is just very hard to distinguish paint unless you use a deep paint variant
im using brown paint and i dont even have the option to paint it
This is my first time building in 3d
Someone in this chat sent me a guide to 3d building
wdym "don't have the option"?
dauim thats really good
im hovering my mouse over it, im clickign and its not being painted
For years of my building journey I never learned how to build in 3d
you're using the right tool correct?
im so stupid
paint brush for blocks
i got used to roller so i just asumed instantly its for all blocks š¤¦āāļø
whats a good block thats looks like white concrete when painted?
shouldnt look too bright
Ebonstone
I use that a lot
Im tryna renovate this entire area and turn it into a cabin in the woods type looking shit
Ebonstone and crimstone
not ebonstone
I didnt like how the lines in it looked in the end
what do you guys think? Keep the stone platforms as is or change them to brown
As a completionist, 1 mana star is triggering me
stone
That's looking good already
or Ig the brown painted one looks good too
messed with stucco at all? could possibly work
whats stucco?
kinda feels like too much brown tho idrk, both l,ook good imo
do the particles they produce get in the way of builds at all?
It's like hay
No
It's just like sandstone brick and pearlstone brick
I dont really build too much so Im not to savvy with the new blocks
stucco is a very old block
yo lowkey, white painted sno couldve worked if not for the edges of it
silt + stone
ah
for gray stucco, prolly the most concrete looking one
whatās the sand for
I just finished extractinating all of my silt while building
underground desert biome
There's also green and red
I like those
all of em require silt unfortunately
interesting
I prefer if it doesnt really have that much obvious lines in it
Clay and silt spreads corruption
why is there no stone bomb
ive made very little progress
i want to add this overhang thing on the left side.. but as you can see.. (please tell me you see thevision)
have you tried living wood block?
We definitely do see the vision
somethings kinda off
i think ill leave it as is
onto the dreaded part.. the tower
yo @vagrant steeple i was just messing around with stuff that looks like stone bricks but maybe white sand would be good?
shame
what blocks can blend with silly balloon?
iirc smooth marble blends with just about every block
Idk HAHAHAH I just thought one of my builds could work
It's just looks like a flamingo
i was about to say "were you building a flamingo"
one I also peeped was titanstone block
not phm
Idk how do make a roof like that, only the ones going up
I had the vision, so I added it a leg
Gosh I hate building on mobile
quite interesting that the game just drops me on the highest point in the ocean when using the shell
yup, conch really has been bugged lately
also the cheat sheet I've been using is outdated so I missed office blocks
those may be good
yeah Imma have to mess with those as well
https://cheesypaninie.wixsite.com/website/terraria-palettes
the website itself is kinda broken, been waiting for an update for a while but I doubt it's happening soon
You play on mobile don't you
ye
i looked for reference photos and found these blocks, does anyone know what they are?
but still very useful even in its current state
accent stone slab
You can do this
i use accent stone slabs too much probably..
I overuse ebonstone
no clue how you do that
whats that block thats more inside than the others?
Don't try to figure it out, I used a hard mode block to get that thin layer
ah
i think ill just do this
palladium columns
I'd say my block palette is most often: stone slabs, accent stone slabs, pearlstone brick, martian plating, ebonwood/ash wood, dynasty wood, and tin/copper plating
rich mahogany?
wait, heath, since ur already here
the mob switch shouldnt affect traveling merchant spawns right?
it might actually, I don't have a ton of experience building mob switches as I've never really had a need for them, but if an NPC can't spawn in then I don't see how traveling merchant could either
i havenāt tried it but gothic brick could work as a palladium column replacement
i have, and i'm fairly certain it doesn't create that dent in palladium columns do
i knew they had something like the smaller silhouette that palladium does
thereās also living wood from the wand though this only works on the right half of builds
and walls
are those stone slabs painted gray or white?
i really cant tell
also quite unsure how the gray blocks are seperated
itās ebonstone brick painted gray
then thereās stone accent slabs
sandstone brick also works too, very minimal difference in texture
