I can't help you with the answer you want, I can help with the question: what kind of sci-fi are you looking for? Do you have any image references? What kind of colors and lighting does that genre uses? What is your goal with the build?

If you manage to find out what to ask, most likely you'll be able to answer the question yourself. By the way, the Official Wiki (.gg) is already updates with sprites for the blocks, on 3x3 images.

I'm mostly looking for a space age themed with darker colored blocks complimenting martian plating. My goal with is to start with a world spawnpoint build and work my way around it

Martian is quite clear and blueish for blocks, but the walls are darker. You could work the contrast between the light blocks and dark walls but keeping the shade blue with darker blocks (smooth granite maybe, also the furniture for it is quite modern-ish/futurist-ish, and it kind of reminds me of a starry sky) and lighter walls (platinum brick kind of works, it follows a very strict grid; and if you are post-ML you could go with Heavenforge). Also, paint is your friend.

And you can always explore new stuff, make things yourself. People hate gemspark, but it is clear and smooth.

The only thing that is currently upsetting me is that the Camera Mode is not working on my Macbook, because I bought the GOG license for it exclusively to do graphic design stuff offline, and being able to take pixel-perfect screenshots. 😢

find the tree you wanna emulate and try to emulate it

general rule for most trees is that leaves usually hide branches so if theres leaves there shouldnt be many branches showing

start with the trunk, add your treehouse
add branches around the treehouse

is what i would do. its an oversimplification, but you should try making a box or some rooms for reference, so you know how much space it will take up so you can make your tree around tat

even if you straight up steal a build, as long as you learn how to replicate the general appearence its fine because you've now learned how to apply that without reference in your own original builds

Can confirm. I reached a building epiphany over this week building my prehardmode NPC houses

Like instead of making a wall just 1 block wide, I learned to add depth by making it thicker and transforming it with not just hammering but also using backgrounds

For example, I placed a column of planked wall. Then on top of it I placed wooden beams. Then boom, I got a support beam that looks to have strong integrity

It’s good for underground builds. I used them for my mineshaft

I like building around lategame because I mine faster and have more access to many resources
