I noticed something about block/wall states, since we were discussing the Debug Stick: Terraria map doesn't save those states. They are reset every time you reload a map.

So, if a block has 3 different states for when it is in the middle of a 3x3 square, for example, and you leave it on the state A, as you reload the map it could be states A, B or C. I can't test to know if this is also something that only happens client-side.
