Hey bro do u wanna multiplayer?
no
I mean I'm a mobile player :>
i dont see what changed really. i think the thing i see as being off is the back/overall shape. it kinda feels a little unnatural
how to fix that? i genuinely have no clue, sorry
+don't think this is the right channel
Just sayin
I added more trees
I was tryna make it like a dense forest
At spawn
And u spawn at a tent with campfire
That's honestly really creative
not the biggest fan of this but i would probably do something like this for the tent
you could have platforms echo coated on the right to make it housing if you want
Thank you
wood on top looks a little better, still not a big fan of it tho
Should i maybe change the tent color?
def getting somewahere
thats up to you
I got a good vampire vanity
bleh bleh bleh
I’m using bat wings vanity and chippy’s armor
havent seen chippys armor
Yea it’s annoying to get the doll
ive seen like clothier set
Yea
I spent like 30 mins getting the doll
i heard that it messes up the player model but idk
I’ve seen solar which is pretty good
for a vampire id do like something red, black, or white
I’ve tried
idk what youre really going for tho
red and silver changes it
i kinda like bloodbath
twilight isnt bad either
and shadow dye makes it pretty much black
last one ill send
negative dye
whar
look at this one
#terraria-creations message
yea what about it
too small :(
can't see shi
you should be able to zoom in a bit
yeah, doesn't help much tho
still tiny
also saving can zoom in better
imma uhh
just look at da wiki
it doesnt have 1.4.5 blocks
and i sent gray painted and brown painted blocks too
its still blurry with max zoom in
who is lookhire and why do you ping him so much
discord def compressed it
unfortunate
when zoomed in for me all the way i can tell what the blocks are
I have 2 questions
How do I get the glowing moss
And what are those crystals in the shimmer dungeon on the secret seed
its near the edge of the world in the caverns
paint scraper
Ok
idk about this one
I saw them in a shimmer biome build too
id need like a pic
and the glowing moss is just anywhere in the caverns but not under spawn
Yea
lava can be anywhere in the lava layer
imgur
Iliya used the blocks in a build
?
the spikes?
if so then its aetherium block/brick
gotten from liquid touching shimmer
ill leave this here if anyone cares about this
Yeah he probably wanted to know the name of aetherium blocks
Oh I forgot to say, some of the aetherium blocks I used are painted purple
So yeah some of em are not just pure aetherium :>
I think i finally got a shape i like
Why’s it doing this now
Idk but if anyone wanna see here it is lol
is my build good
Looks great so far
Try using illuminant paint on the shimmer fall backgrounds
i would say with the trees, try to make sure you can’t see the branches connected to the tree
with most trees you wouldn’t be able to see the branches because they are covered by leaves
i finally feel happy with a tree i built to use it as a reference for someone
im guessing that makes it match more with the actual shimmer
Actually atherium trees are such a good idea, imm try that too
Yeah!
also negative paint with living leaf blocks works too
this was my inspo photo off twitter i just tweaked a few things
i used the paint and added a little touch at the bottom
Looks great
is the ore there demonite?
the crystal alone took me an entire hour to figure out how i wanna space things and so on, but it turned out really nicely... this is just a hallow house, i did NOT have to spend 2 hours on building it especially since this isnt gonna be seen a lot once we are done with this world and start the next one, but i did and it was worth
looking at this I'm thinking about actuating them with differenatial decending order to make it seems like they're glowing outward
kind of like a neon sign
i thought about doing some actuation but im thinking it would probably downstep the brightness too much, i really want it to shine bright and colorful, fitting for the hallow
furniture
which ones
The white
no it looks good
living wood or dynasty
K
either could look good
has anyone there made some cool buildings with the new dead cells items? i cant get enough ideas i tried something but it looks awful!
Final product
Does anyone have a picture of a cute oasis fishing hut build I can look at for inspiration? I have an oasis right next to spawn and want to make a house for my Angler
I have the same type of thing too
It's so cool
I love how cute it is
(Need to remove that grave lol)
Mine is super similar actually
I can’t send pictures
i did just build this tho
I was super proud of it
Can you DM it to me? It's not showing up on Imgur
@vital heath Oh I think you accidently uploaded an empty alnum
https://imgur.com/a/SkLj2Zw someone rate
This is interesting, thanks for sharing!
This looks so cool!!!
I'd give it a 9.5/10
@plucky zealot dump some heavily vegetated ruins I need to fill this space
Bet
The nook on the upper right level now has library spam and that flattened area has a house kinda roughed out
Perf
What are your favourite vegetation themed walls?
I can do stone (haven’t done the wall texturing yet) just not used to added greenery
Leaf plus the grass seed ones
wait there's grass seed walls.????
Lime painted living leaf walls are extremely versatile with shaping stuff, for more detailed vegetation you can go with hallowed shard walls painted lime
They go very well with Strange plants
And just mix those around your stone walls
You can also use green moss walls
wait you built that??
that looks sick as hell!
Yeah! Thanks
ooh I love the roof shape on that
Thanks ^^ that was the main purpose of the build to practice that style of roof afaik I'm the first one to use that technique but I'm probably not
all my roofs are so basic lol
I need to work on it but ehh
love those windows on this & the above image
Looks really neat
Ty!
Everything comes with time and practice
It took me forever to build a proper 'normal' house
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1259896569117802506/1365074896115335348/image.png?ex=698a4f91&is=6988fe11&hm=9b7cba87553bb877e247972f059fef675baf3047b2a3b8b693c267a7337cc1a9& now I feel pretty comfortable with furnishing
doing the insides of houses is definitely where I struggle alot
I pretty much build without thinking about inside decor at all 😭
anyways I'll be off to make my snow house & pylon for now, cya!
Cya! Gl
I'd be a good builder if I wasn't lazy fr
I'm a lazy mf and yet I'm decent at building
Me too you just gotta embrace the lazy, one or two rooms a day
Outline here or there
You are not just decent. Your builds are really interesting, and your underground lighting is spot-on.
Those ruins you posted earlier, on a cloud, they are really good, and the tree is great.
WOW
oh alr
It's taken months, but I finally finished (for now) my greatest Terraria project ever: The Grand Display.
It contains every block, wall, furniture, and other placeable object prior to 1.4.5, along with labels for everything in an accompanying Google Doc. The world download is up on the Steam Workshop if you wanted to check it out. There is so much stuff, I can't really showcase it any other way.
The purpose of this project is to be a visual guide for builders, so they can see everything that Terraria has to offer them. I plan to update it to include 1.4.5 stuff in the future, but for now It's all from before the update.

Dayum
lost girl as well
It would be so cool to have a portrait for every enemy someday
Stop giving me reasons to like Harpies anymore!
These are really good, by the way!
Idk how a portrait of the Eye would work...
(After taking this picture, I cut down the tree closest to the door, added a hanging sign on the left side, and fixed the out of place chair)
Also noticing that I think I missed a paint spot
is there a mod or texturepack that makes ropes connect to platforms
like if they dont have a rope above
PLEASE i need ts
hey yall i forgot to screenshot it but here's a build a made in the vc esrlier (sorry for bad photo quality lol)
and i spent too long making a water wheel teying to figure out circles
background walls
I would make something so the rope looks more attached, as well as making the walls thicker
i usually have my hell wells 2 blocks thigh for walls and the wall brick with it eventually crumbling away to dirt and stone
This is a well I made once that I like. Putting 1 block between the well and rope helps
Here’s one of mine, atmosphere works wonders for immersion
ooh i love that
what happens as it goes down
Gives me Royal Waterway from Hollow Knight vibes
Would there be any way to naturally incorporate a water fountain to make the water a different color?
you could prob just hide one
Just kinda stops
damn
i love the attention to detail tho
could u tell me what types of wall were used for the background
That’s why it stops, time consuming
Uh I believe stone, stone slab, green tile, gray brick
thank u
Oh as the well gets deeper down, paint the stone blocks gray/black to make the look more damp. I can’t remember if gray or black paint on the stone bricks is what looks good
thats smart ill try it
And put a block between the rope and roof of the well
Makes it look sturdy and real
And functional
hows this
ik its floating but
idk
echo coating works on furnature, so just use that
wait no u said naturally
ignore me lmao
😭
Yeah that’s better
Hey I want to create a victorian kind of house in my corrution dome, but im not sure how to make it without looking so blocky. I also want to make the island look more detailed like the second one I have here but im not sure what blocks would fit with this kind of coloring
You've seen Victorian houses right?
Ebonwood is not the play. Needs a horizontal wood
What do you mean horizontal
Are you using reference images?
Well, let's go over some of the traits of a Victorian house.
Asymmetrical
Steep spire roofs in addition to normal triangle roofs.
Windows everywhere
A porch, often fully making up the front.
Tiled roofs
Repeating accent patterns
Yeah I was thinking like a side roof and a tower roof with a orch but couldent rlly get the outline right
Also a big focus on wraparound windows. dome windows? Rooms which wrap around and have windows on all sides. very bumpy and circular
it needs a horizontal wood. like normal wood or boreal
You also seem to be hyper focusing on "themed" building blocks and walls
rather than using stuff which matches the look of what you're trying to build
sometimes
And remember, paint exists
building an arena in pre hm, does anyone have size recommendations before hardmode
https://imgur.com/a/L8IJLzK
Make your arena taller and larger for alot of space
any ideas on how to improve this build https://imgur.com/a/7U53lvm
I could learn a thing or two here, such good builds
The flesh furniture for crimson... The lantern, when turned off, I believe, looks like a hook...
What is this exactly?
marine fort from one peice
its like 1/3 the way done
Hollyyy this looks so good!!!
any wall suggestions to make this transition a bit more smooth? from top to bottom its
Pearlstone Wall
Lichen Stone Wall
Ebonstone Wall
Poo Wall
Boulder Wall
Purple Mossy Wall
I can't be the only one who sees this post above me and think it's good enough, right? There will be a rough transition between different kinds of walls anyway
It looks great... It's just really, really dark...
speeqz/mr bones has a guide on gradients, its for 3d builds but i assume it can still help
maybe the link will send here

specifically #4 is the section you should look at it seems
Ah, this is great!
Thanks for sharing, I knew coming here would be really helpful because there would be good resources for stuff like this!
Edited the image a little so it could all fit cleanly without my layout messing it up, what y'all think?
Damn, the building on the left, with the natural blocks and irregular build, it's so fire! The pylon on the top adds a really nice touch to it.
doesnt look like the left bit could be held up by whats holding it up
I'm planning to plant some trees on that side (if you can plant trees in the desert bcuz I honestly forgot)
yeah it does look pretty flimsy
I think I'll be putting some hardened sand walls around there
This is true though. If there was like a darker wall, thick and all, it could mean the build was cave-like and would not be a bad thing.
One thing that I would change would be the color of the leaves. I would either make them less saturated (I think the regular paints do it, right?) on either teal (to match the water) or a hotter green (to match the cacti).
hmm yeah I did think about paint
Was thinking about how rich mahogany leaves would maybe fit more instead of the living wood ones on the left though
thank u guys, I'll go try to improve it now
oh, also the foundation of the actual building could be built up a bit maybe?
im bad at desert buids tbh
Oh I was going to just put some walls there
Something similar to this on another of my builds
this is like my best desert build, still a wip but i havent worked on it in a while
it's so stretched lmao discord's image editing is ass
I like it how it currently is, though. Don't forget that there are mushroom eroded rocks that look like they wouldn't stand either. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushroom_rock
A mushroom rock, also called rock pedestal, or a pedestal rock, is a naturally occurring rock whose shape, as its name implies, resembles a mushroom. The rocks are deformed in a number of different ways: by erosion and weathering, glacial action, or from a sudden disturbance. Mushroom rocks are related to, but different from, yardang.
A mushroom...
ooh I love the skull
I think I'll be putting some hardened sand walls towards the middle
i tried pretty hard with it, though im not too big of a fan of the fact thats its all sturdy fossil now
I did think about a "flimsy" feel to it but feels too much
i see the fences and such there
but i would assume they wouldnt be helping much with the stability
Sorry about it, it will take long until I get Terrarian to share pictures properly 🤣
Here it just doesn't embed, I get the cute little feces character 💩

Oh no I meant my image
it's fine lol
Oh, it is stretched indeed, sorry for my lack of attention 🤣
I wouldn't mind this 10 minutes ago (I love the nuance of the shiny mineral on bottom right, makes it look like a proper mining site too) but now I'm thinking this is sort of flimsy too 😅
thats fair
If you wait 20 more minutes, I might forget about it. I always disregarded it in Terraria anyway, since you are only seeing a part of the thing.
Certainly an improvement. It looks really good, and having a tree next to it makes sense, since there's running water there
Does echo coating work on walls? I have an idea for my witch doctor housing, but it only works with missing walls. Ofc npcs don’t like that
yes, echo coated walls act like the wall isnt there while echo walls act like an invisible wall if that makes sense
Nice
do note that echo coating a wall will make it as if its never there, so any textures/different appearence when a wall connects will not happen, unless its an echo wall made of echo blocks
especially with fences
left: echo walls (will count for housing)
middle: no walls (will not count for housing)
right: echo coated walls (will count for housing)
i Have a massive dug out area but idk what build there
no walls count for housing to a certain extent
So for the right one there’s an echo coated wall where the gap is? That’s cool
i mean, technically not, i just didnt place any 🙊
but it would be the same look
now i placed the walls
*with echo sight
like how big
and how deep
imgur
huh
you can use imgur for pictures without perms
dmed
yeahhh
You could build a mini Terraria world inside of that Terraria world.
maybe a little non functional to an extent. though you could make like planetoids around or biome globes
I'm serious. You won't be able to get the ocean/underworld/cavern background on the respective parts, but you could make the thing.
This is a huge space.
how many tiles? i also build a hole, it's 3400 tiles wide xd
it’s @feral patrol world
Why is it on top?
any good lantern ideas with dynasty wood? 😔
You should definitely make a picrew for these. I have a feeling that a lot of people would use it for their characters ^-^
i didnt know you were this awesome 🫢
never looked at your bio
How am I awesome? Lol
youre trans :3
Oh, yeah
time to continue mah jungle build
hi pie
great representation
https://imgur.com/a/JGC7nbC
Pretty sure someone mentioned they dug out a big hole
Now what should I do myself?!
oh
mogged my hole
Grins widely at you
how do i post imgur pics? xd
Upload on imgur
Copy link
Paste here :>
hm i did, but i didnt showed a preview in discord
You need to wait until it's fully uploaded
i build this lantern, any ways i can improve this? i want to have multiple of them on the ground of my arena
I think it’d look better it it had two lights, one on each side, rather than just one in the middle
Because right now it looks like the light is part of the pole rather than in front of it
ya i see it now
that would be my try for to lights
i did like the design the first one had, you couldn't fit two lights on the ends here?
This is just a link to Imgur lol
i think the img still needs to be processed or something, thats why there is now preview yet
Ah ok
ya the ends where hammered slaps, had to change things around
but i cant fit lanters there because of hammered slaps 😔
Can you place ropes with the lights under them?
wait lemme try
nah, they dont fit on ropes
i can just put another slap unhammred under it
would look like this
but i feel like it's hanging to much idk
@jovial tinsel what about changing the block positioning around like this?
Green is the rope
Looks really wide with the drawing but idk how it’d look in practice
i cant place it on rope
i could echo coat a block and just leave it hanging
Regardless, I think if you shifted the blocks up or down it could work
maybe add some sparkles to imply the magic lol
So it’d hang less
I have this relatively simple design if you need inspo
Like the classic Japanese architect where it turns up
What lamp is that and what’s connecting it?
Although the arch is a color design
Oh I really like it btw lol
Carriage lantern I believe and it’s just hanging off the platform directly
Thanks, I’m fairly certain I stole it from reddit
lol
My main house in my current world is 100% stolen from Reddit. I told myself I was just gonna copy the general shape but ended up copying every block 😭
Best place to learn
Only thing I changed was make most of the basement walls stone brick
man i have no skymill 😔
And and my crafting setup is more efficient but that’s not really a building thing
Is it cause your world didn’t have one or because you have been to every island yet?
havent been on an island
and i cant find my gold keys to look in the chests there
i m on legendary
Ah
i need gold keys to unlock sky chests xd
nah nothing, gotta farm some tomorrow to try the sparke idea ig xd
i have ice rod and wings, basically infinite flight xd
lol
Thanks ill try it out!
Bridge
should i lessen the frequency of the pillars?
Maybe a little? Like get rid one or two
I like it. What are those twisty fences?
Ash wood
Gotcha
Oh maybe you can add a couple of beams under it for visual support
This is the dock for my rising hut. Not exactly a bridge tho
whats a picrew
the width to height proportion is shit
I think the one of the left minus the slabs on the very ends would look the best
well, imma need to think over it, since i dont really see the vision of the whole build anymore 😔
maybe doing something completely different
Yeah take a break for a bit
Always helps
i wanted to build a background for my arena that looks like infinty castle from demon slayer lol
That’d be sick
I wanna make my arena not ugly as well lol
Arenas in Terraria are extremely important, especially when boss fights get much harder in hardmode. A good Arena design could truly make a difficult boss fight a breeze if you know how to use it well. That's why I'm here to show you an easy simple step-by-step arena building guide. This arena is straightforward and easy, but also decked out wit...
Something like this
If the light structures are that wide, it looks like you should make the entire thing taller.
the general background idea is just all walls in shadow paint lol
but maybe i do some space themed build with that
ya, taller is just more anyoing to build rn x)
Let’s take Bikini Bottom and PUSH it somewhere else
I mean, display purposes, of course... It's understandable.
It looks great overall.
What?
@rugged wedge incase you were still wondering how i texture stone in a darker way
SpongeBob reference lol
Is this gonna be a greenhouse?
sort of yeah
Cool
was planning to make it more so of a green house but decided to pivot a bit and make it more stoneish
I need to make a potion ingredients farm. It’ll also double as my Dryad house
Oh. I lost cable just as that show started to air so... Yeah... 😅
wanted to do something like this first but then inspiration struck for something else
😅 it's a doll maker thing essentially
That is the single best, old-timey description I've ever heard of before...
And it makes my description pale in comparison.
can I show a build I'm doing to get tips
I don't have perms
I'm genuinely asking
😔
😭
Maybe with the current version you can still add a couple of sky lights on the left and right. Don’t make the entire roof glass but have 1 section on each side
So if it's not a greenhouse, what are you using it for?
I'm only 25-
was planning that yeah
Nice
here i thought dinosaurs were extinct
aeugh
Why doesn’t this sever allow reactions 😭
I mean, okay in all seriousness... You know about cut-out dolls and paper dress-up?
sounds difficult
well its going to be a purely decorational build in the first place but more so like the dilapidated arboretum from deadcells
Yeah
and its basically my first time mimicking terraria's portraits artstyle
though it would be awesome
Maybe mess around with one to see what it's like
I haven’t played Dead Cells in a long time but I remember that biome
great game for inspiration tbh
That dates back to the 1920s.
Most teenagers aren't familiar with the dial-up tone for internet lol.
... So you can still use it for plants lol?
I used to have one of those uh metal dress up dolls that had magnet clothes
still gonna be plant themed yeah
its a jungle build afterall
Besides Sören, I'm thirty-seven, so I don't think that you're that old.
I've had teens call me "unc" 😭
A gentleman and a scholar...
But not in that order? 😛
I'm a gentleman but I'm ocassionally an idiot-
That just isn’t true. I’m fairly certain most teenagers know of it
Would you say this is more forest-themed?
no not really, forests typically dont have extremly overgrown stuff in the way jungles have it
Depends on the type of forest
Unless you’re talking about terraria specifically
well jungle is still a type of forest so yes its forest themed
looks aight, not the biggest fan of the tree or the bright white floor but overall looks pretty aight
thats enough progress for me today
made something somewhat similar before (sadly no desert background in this ss)
though its a bit old but oh well still pretty decent overall
more kinda like this one i made but more jungle themed(though this one will be alot different)
mostly just making something to practice techniques and try and iterate small ideas i have in mind
anyone know any blocks that contrast well with iron brick? In pre-hardmode and open to using paint, though I would rather not.
Build is in tundra, kind of at a loss rn
That’s cute
in what type of build
think the exact kind of build you would imagine looking at the iron brick texture
(arctic base)
so basicly a bunker
Should I add a fish tank on my house
Or maybe a ball of water in the middle of a build
This is nice...
Foundation below rhe building seems p weak for what it's standing above, ik its a wip btw, looking good, perhaps a little too much ebonstone brick
Water ball
This is?!?
yeah lol
I guess I'm a fan of your work lol...
Really like the use of gold brick
Someone make a ball of water like a aquarium in the middle of a build
I prob haven't made use of gold brick in a single one of my builds in like 10 years
here is an earlier WIP version where the screenshot is all fucked up cuz terraria photomode is very funcitonal
Ehh... So I have this tendency to save builds.
i mean go for it if you like it :D
Pictures lol. It could be Reddit.
I've noticed that a lot of images... Get destroyed.
Or lost lol.
its supposed to be that way, i wanted it to look like the ground caved in a bit
Definitely could have used some of the roots trailing down in the background, snaking through.
Well Pie, as long as you know I'm not secretly stalking you lol... 😅
https://www.reddit.com/user/TastyPieGuy/submitted/ from this fella probably (my reddit account)
nah its okay, im happy my builds are good enough that people are saving them
You clearly have talent lol.
ty! took a bit of practice aswel
My abilities are only to emulate...
I've been tossing around in my head, the idea of a "amusement park ride"...
That goes through the low of Terraria.
But 100%, I'm terrible with wiring lol.
i suck at modern stuff, i like to stick to fantasy themed stuff
It works. I did work with someone who created Dragon's Keep...
I asked about using it, and he was willing, if I could build it.
Now I have one of Skyrim's capitals holding all of the banners lol.
I understand, however the foundation makes the build look flimsy, about to come down at any moment, just seems weird that something so tiny is holding up something like that
I just followed you on Reddit.
Thanks :D I'll post a finished version of the jungle build on there soon
And maybe the whole point of it is the "undisturbed" beauty of nature.
I'll see what I'm going to add to the foundation, I'll figure something out
really early-game jungle pylon
Yes, however something that affects the way a build is perceived is the cohesion of all the different parts of it, how it kind of makes sense
And well it looks slightly off if that which the build stands on top of looks like it isn't able to hold the build up
They're ruins... I mean, we can't set up collision, and very few artists would like to donate their bills to simulate the final destruction.
I agree, they're ruins. They're meant to look kinda flimsy and rickety
They're literally about to collapse, stepping on the wrong stone could mean you'll break your ankle
any chance anyone has some dynasty wood houses i could use as a reference? had a look around and got a couple ideas but would be nice to see that some people have made in here
What biome are you building it in?
possibly just the forest at the moment, im new to building so just want to experiment with styles
Who do you want to live there?
umm... ive not really thought that deep in to it 😭
Okay, final question.
What are you looking to build?
Like a spa hotel, or just a shrine?
i would build a few things next to eachother, i built this a long time ago just on one of my other worlds because i liked the style but wasnt really in to building, so similar kind of thing just on a larger scale
just found another one on a different world too, so you can sort of see the style but just more detailing
i feel its too repetitive
I don't have one that's fully dynasty but it does have some shingles
you wanna see it still?
at the end of the day its just a bit of inspiration
ooo thats cool
what are the walls you used as pillars?
I like dynasty but mahogany (painted) looks really nice if you were to use it at the tips of where the wood faces
just the opposite dynasty wood painted
ive not expanded out in to painted blocks yet lmao
Its very nice to expand on what you can build with
ive seen a lot of people putting it to good use
oh yeah my beginning world has my earliest builds
That has some dynasty only I think
Let me get it
Of course, but the point remains, without a proper foundation the structure above doesn't quite fit all that well with the rest of the building, big, wide walls sitting on a floor supported by thin wooden beams
Really basic obviously lol
Wish I didn't have to buy dynasty, it's such a good wood type
Yeah
Wish there was another way to get it
But I do spend a small fortune everytime it appears so I don't really run out that often
I get that it's cheap but it really isn't if you build a lot with it
Also the merchant doesn't always spawn
@plucky zealot @lament briar And well, at the end of the day, its but a build, no need to get suuuuper serious about it or anything like that, just food for thought on how to improve the aspect of the building
So you could go ages without another buy
you say really basic and that first one has more detailing then anything ive ever built
it was my first ever house and I upgraded it from time to time a little when I played
last time I built something on it was a long time ago when I consider myself def worse than I am now so that might be why I consider it 'basic'
Some make water ball
im playing journey for the world im on at the minute so i can build on it without having to keep getting more blocks
I make big water ball
Goat icl
Journey is not for the weak
Understood lol.
Just a little bit here and there.
Nah nah cause journey can get boring if you have complete control over every part of the game
thats really cool but i think i can identify about 2 of the blocks used 💔
Embrace Journey mode
It's beautiful
Unlimited blocks
Maximum pleasure
i only use it to get the blocks and then turn off mobs when building
never played journey because I lwk thought it was just easier than classic LOL
Im doing a journey playthrough soon though
you can change difficulty
im playing master mode on journey
Woah that looks really nice!
Which part do you like?
I know how it works now
I started playing Journey this week, but it was because the project I'm working on doesn't care about progression.
I just never tried it even after knowing what it was for some reason
And Journey still has its own challenges.
the roof design looks really cool
I've been trying to hunt down the gold critters lol.
thankyou
So the roof may be the same dynasty single block...
yeah thats one of the blocks i knew
I love themed housing, I should do some soon tbh
when do you get to send images in here normally? i keep needing to turn on a VPN to upload to imgur as its blocked in the UK
You see the gap? It's hammered to where the block is half.
whats the wall behind it?
Rich mahogany, I believe.
Painted brown.
The shingles are obviously painted green.
The stone could either be demonite or sandstone painted gray...
Terrariasts
Yes?

did you just kinda place until it felt right? or is there like an actual method to good mixing (i know i asked this before p much)
Mostly just off feeling tbh
and getting the feeling is just spending time doing it i assume
There are some criteria that a block needs to have for me to add in into the mix, in this case it was a brick like texture, dark Gray and worn look
that makes sense
Then just look through the blocks and see what looks best when painted gray
I just pick bricks at random and paint them
Ngl that looks like literally every wizard tower on the internet
anyone know how the pillar wall is doable with the loose looking bricks?
cause it is, its my reference
im not in hardmode
Water ball aquarium in the middle of a build
Housing and decor on the sides
Nothing on top of ball
i have a more brick focused display too
Well that's too bad then
I fear your free time
oh well its not that important
Build the ball
Well at least learning how to build is a good way to spend it
what brick is that on fourth row third over from the left
?
^^
if so then its sandstone brick
sorry fifth row
The ball needs to be built
by the copper looking blocks
?
This one? Toybreaker
yes whats on the left of that
tin bricks
We’re idiots who can’t count
oooooh
THE BALL
how you get these actually?
Cyborg
am i supposed to build "the ball"?
A new hand touches the beacon
its new in 1.4.5
THE BALL ACCEPTS ANYONE
i guess building a ball to practice shading could be nice
☕️
i dont see the block
but i also dont have much interest in 3d builds
I mean sphere
this is NOT how i expected him to look
Wiki says it always sells it so I dunno
it is a world pre 1.4.5 so maybe kill him?
youre in prehardmode?
That’s why he gets shimmered
my character is the world isnt
So mean, but I hadn’t considered homicide so maybe I’m th fool
Very stinky 👎
2d aquarium ball
i might have to slime him out ngl
Yes
seems quite simple
Let me know how murder works
Scrap him
does lava destroy furniture or just platforms
depends on what stuff
Just make a flymeal with a stinkbug
like obsidian furniture no
thats too hard man
but like most furniture get s broken
its ice furniture
I keep one on hand….for no reason
Just dig him in a hole then burn him
its not that simple hes in my build on the third floor
yk what idc i dont play this world anyways
there goes all my furniture
stone furniture does breaks on lava?
or is it just not updated
I shall show example of le ball soon
does the cyborg have lava defense bro is taking 1 damage
cyborg is almost dead
finally
ofc hes barely dying his name is sigma
ofc he doesn’t sell the block
I like the water wheel
I think youve said this before, how else would you expect a wizard tower to look?
Its a very specific narrow theme. theres only so many ways to make a wizard tower
oooo that wheel is sick, very cool build
Its gonna use purple and blue bricky roofing, gray slabby walls. straight shaft, with maybe one side room.
thank you, took me too long to figure out the shape of a circle
and in terms of side rooms, theres only one real option (the bridge and micro tower)
its always gonna have a spiral staircase, alot of them are gonna have portals or telescopes or both.
its like saying someones scrambled eggs look like every other scrambled eggs on the internet. yeah, that just means they did it right
even the fringe cases like twisty towers still fit the same thing but just more unique of a shape
furthest is like the host tower of the arcane from dnd/faerun but its just a tree that wizards happen to inhabit really, not a wizard tower
Even the most unique wizard towers are gonna look super similar to every other wizard tower yeah.
Like my wizard tower has a pretty unique look. but. ultimately. It still looks like "just" a wizard tower
for ref
Like, even with the unique elements, its still slathered in wizard tower tropes because... you kinda build a wizard tower for the tropes
truth
like if you arent building a wizard tower with a blue-purple roof, and slabby bricky walls. a big portal magic room and a telescope, why are you even building a wizard tower at all?
type
I can’t build a circle that well
damn
are you using circle reference tools?
therescircle generators out there
mostly for minecraft but same thing
same thing happened for me
I use uh. plotz.co.uk for my circles.
are there more textures you wish would connect
like bars would be nice (ive sent this like 30 times) but any more?
not super particularly tbh. I think i was more unhhappy with it in 1.3
but, nowadays im pretty happy with what connects and what doesnt
fair
accent coating please
would make builds really nice
accent coated stone accent slab
accent coating?
just some way to make something act like an accent slab
yeah but hyper consistency, with the tools to undo it. is peak
ye ye
more possible colors
god. did you ever play starbound?
That game had a great building system tbh
i have not :(
its just a shame it had no interesting blocks and no brown paint
its paint tool is built into your primary omnitool
so you can just switch your pickaxe into paint mode and paint stuff. whenever
it was so peak...
except for the lack of brown paint, of course
meaning wooden builds were just. nonstarters. unless you monowooded it
Negative coating plz
speaking of paint tools, what does luiafk offer for building again?
please no paint stackin, paint is already complex enough, i dont need metaphorically infinite combinations of paint while im experimenting...
i wanna make a post with all the changes that would save builders
i mean, im pretty much already done, just need to know what else i could add
It adds
a super paint tool
An actuation rod that actuates the blocks outright
A hammer tool that can be use to hammer a bunch of blocks in the same orientation
Highlight and fill lava, water, and honey
Highlight and fill walls
and a tool which combines these all into one
da combo rod,,,,
- Make more coating or paint stacking.
We only currently have echo and illuminant coating currently. Adding a coating for each current paint would not only allow for a lot more color depth but there could be many more applications for other coatings. A few ideas for more useful coatings could...
oh and an infinite wire grand design
3, 4, and 5 are very minimal tbf
What we really need is a vanilla focused building mod.
theres probably quite a few stand alone mods
something that adds combo rod shenagins, without the bulk of the rest of luiafk. As well as stuff like accent coatings.
but thats probably a bunch of unneeded mods
omnipainter adds a painting tool thats like. similar to luiafks.
But like... all in one.
god. i forgot how much i miss the improved actuation rod.
you can kinda do that in vanilla
Being able to actuate blocks without an actuator on it...
just like have presserator on all the time
so everything has actuators
but also not the same
that sounds awful. And still uses up the inventory space
which is important for building
i think it works in void bag
but also
then void bag takes that spot
also luiafk has a config, you can probably turn off a lot of bloat you dont want
I dont think luaifk is even maintained anymore.
Just my own comments;
- Last time someone suggested a paint tool like The Grand Design it was met with being a "Terraria 2 idea"
- The colour depth stuff I don't quite see being realistic for a vanilla addition, but an accent coating in particular would be a nice simple way to deal with any & all "merging" complaints people could have
Paint tool like The Grand Design would be genius, though!
well yea
the big thing is terraria devs hate building so they wont give it to us.
with color depth, it is just a suggestion so it doesnt have to be implemented but i 100% see where youre coming from (i just want dark gray and brown paint)
but i am just pointing out last time it was denied with being a terraria 2 idea
Absolutely not lol
They do not hate builders
If they hated building, they wouldn't give us so many cool new blocks and furniture sets.
and i dont see how improving painting is a terraria 2 idea
Yet, paint is still pulling teeth in vanilla
to each their own i guess
And we know its not a technical limitation, its not like the engine simply cant handle it.
because a myriad of mods do it.
ive heard that adding more grand design type items is a pain with the spaghetti code
I don't know why it was met that way either but that is the extent of my memory last time someone suggested it (iirc on Twitter?)
Luiafk managed it and the paint tool wasnt even the main point of the mod.
Its basically a filler item for the combo rod.
and it'd open up accessibility so so much for newer builders
who just... wont interact with paint
because its awful and terrible
It's funny because the current project I'm working on, which is pretty much just placing blocks coated with illuminant or echo coating, shadow paint or nothing, means the default hotbar in the game is not enough for me, and needs more space.
Good thing I took my time to learn and wire the teleporters so I can move around quickly and the Shellphone is almost useless.
then i accidentally move the paint and it gets lost in my constant mess of an inventory 😭
hell. even just... being able to combine all 3 paint tools into one, and right clicking to swap between them
would free up hotbar space
yeesh
just a load of bs in my inventory
My biggest issue with it is that I am not yet used to changing the order, so I always end up placing a shadow painted platform when I want to just place something with illuminant coat.
I think with time I'll get used to it, though. It's just a question of me being used to it.
2 whole strange plants, lawnmower, wet bombs AND inf water bucket
anyhow, my point is. If like 4 different mods have figured out ways to do paint tools, all seperately and with their own UIs, I cant imagine its that difficult to give us one for paint. Especially with shimmer and post moonlord giving us great places to put it, progression wise
My current hotbar (I will fail the image, I will wait for me to get Terrarian) is:
Pickaxe, Hamaxe, Block to place, Wall to place, Painting tool 1, Painting tool 2, Painting tool 3, Rod of Discord, current coat (so I can check quickly which one is on), The Grand Design.
I would want more slots on the hotbar. Or something to indicate which paint/coating I would place at the moment.
the luminite painter. acts as all 3 paint tools.
Shimmer to create a grand design like paint tool, with an interface to swap between active paints
but no, we still need 3 seperate tools to paint stuff. like we're still in 1.2.0
thats why i have the regular paint scraper here
I have memorized them by the button. 5 takes off paint, 6 paints walls, 7 paints blocks. I don't even look at the icons 🤣
Now that I think about it, I have less trouble with hotkeys on Adobe Illustrator than in Terraria.
I'm trying to stop to build out of my inventory, but the thing I'm currently working on requires just 1 kind of block (and maybe 1 kind of platform, soon).
oh im pink now
that was some event like forever ago i believe
stardust role is just like. a faction thing i think
i dont think its been useful for a long time
just kinda a pointless role people have now
legendary terrarian is a shop role, which you get for prize points for participating in events
Weird I recently joined the server and got it, and I see lots of people are Solar.
I thought it could be related to platform too, but I'm too lazy to investigate it
you dont get to choose, if you could id choose stardust
the events I took part in where specifically the building activities OwO
Controversially, I also reused the same build for multiple events, if it fit the theme and rules. I think they closed that out of the rules lol
Oh, I wouldn't see those, at this point I'm honestly thinking about just keeping #terraria-pc and #terraria-creations unhidden
Going to the general channel was a mistake
updated this for more cohesion and other ideas
activities are worth keeping unhidden if you want some of the more unique roles
and they're just
fun to participate in sometimes
i really only go in thelp and here
I might check it out some time but I'm good with whatever yellow role I can put my hands on 🤣
Yeah, I'd like a yellow role too
Desert is up for grabs!
Questionable, I would take Dark Yellow as an answer easily.
