Nice vegetation *sob
though dunno how well it fits in a jungle since mushrooms are more so a regular forest thing but yeah
i like my builds to be npc houses so like ruins arent too appealing to me much
because they arent really npc hgouses
why am i just now hearing about illuminate paint, i couldve never used gem blocks… oh well im not gonna redo everything i enjoy actually playing the game more
you can cover up alot with hidden platforms and furniture
also restricting yourself to just npc housing isnt the greatest idea
If its a ruins build i usually hide it on the shadow gate
Works all the time
i just kinda like when the builds are somewhat practical too
that, or echo coating, using it as actual decoration, etc, there are alot of ways
Right
i only do that cause i enjoy the core of the game and not building so much, just tired of building my classic 3x12 npc prisons
this one is practical and still houses npc's
i mostly struggle with inspo
aphantasia doesnt help at all
def an excuse most of the time
Yep i can see the similarities between your builds and this
i usually look at other games or things for a general vibe of something im going for, in this case it was the stilt village from deadcells
Dawg
i play like 1 game mostly...
Yeah its also about inspos
its like terraria then sometimes i play elden ring and like balatro
i guess elden ring isnt terrible for inspo
well if you play eldenring you should not have any struggles
speaking of which, may as well share this again
How did u do the stacks of books?
tedit with librarian furniture
pretty solid
mostly the sinks and bathtubs
Alrrr
i dont really like using anything external for my builds
this is the first time
i did it for the contest
i still have 12 days and im pretty much done
shouldnt be allowed for contests imo, since mobile or console players dont have access to it
that is very fair, i mostly agree. there is the case where you can use like transmutation and floating furniture for the same thing
but it is a lot more accessible
im fine with floating furniture since everyone can replicate that
not as much now
what did they change?
teleporter glitch is gone
aw man, why the fuck did they remove that
fixed some crashes i believe
tragic
theres still other ways but nothing as easy as that
unfortunate, if its not doable on all platforms i dont think it should be valid in a contest
im not that good at building so ill just do some pixel art and make it actually useful instead of just art to look at
best thing about building is just trying out different things and see what you like the best
that yeah
some people have different styles which makes it even better
i like broad builds i dont like going too much into detail, cause at the end of the day i enjoy the actual game and not just building
3x12 prison boxes tend to get boring
had to spice it up
do you pie happen to have that 3 room tall build you made when somebody didn't like it
your style of this
Not gonna lie, most of the time when people come here asking "do you think this is good?", I want to ask them "what are your references?". The stuff that ends up being posted here looks great most of the time, and to make good critique, we would need to know what they wanted to make.
that is correct
Like this. With this, one can say if something was well made or not. I know what the person wanted to build, and then I can compare to the original references to see if it was accurate.
oh yeah i do why?
i think it's really good example of different styles
wasnt meant to be a 1 on 1 copy, more so the vibe and style
for similiar shaped build
here it is
This looks outrageously amazing though! I love how the tree has spots of light, that fit the overall theme. Also, using minecarts as handrails was genius.
ty!
building trees is hard
Although copying is important in the creative process (you'll never manage to do a 1:1 copy, and most likely you'll learn what the original author meant to do), being inspired usually goes beyond just copying. It means you understand the reference and created something with it.
Was this done with Negative Paint?
ehhh for actual builds i would recomend copying much at all, you can copy small techniques of a build but not much more than that
i think so
yeah
yeah
used some of that aswel in my shimmer build
I meant in a artistic/design way, not just for Terraria, my bad 😂
oh yeah, cant really speak outside of terraria, not that much of a artist in most things
i guess im decent at warframe fashion
It's funny, because I'm making the backwards thing of being a designer IRL, and now I want to make stuff in-game (because most of the time I procrastinate with Terraria anyway)
Everything you learn in design college applies to Terraria
holy the quality is chopped
Imgur does that
love the colors
Trees are probably among the hardest things you guys make, right? There aren't many good blocks to use like for houses, I guess, right?
there is alot of ways to use blocks for trees
Why don't I have 1.4.5.3 D:
To whoever just mentioned me: I bought another licence of the game on GOG, so I could stay with the game offline and without updates on my notebook (I don't always have internet on it). My Steam version (I barely play it anymore) will still be updated though. It's just for this creative thing I'm going I'll keep using 1.4.5.3.
Oh
Are you on mobile?
Yeah
Oh, that's the reason
Oh
I'm on both Steam/GOG
Ok
We’ll get it at some later point, more hoops for the devs to go through for us
have you guys done any areena builds?
If by Arena you mean 300 platforms, Bast Statue and Heart Lantern, yeah! 🤣
that
but with style
i'm rebuilding something similiar like this
but i haven't seen other people build/post areenas
Have you tried to fight bosses on this though? I think it's probably not very functional unless you use this as a base
Maybe it's two completely different ways to play the game
it's just for fun
i played game to post plantera in calamity mod
and forgot building stuff
The only thing I did that would be something like this was making an Eternia Crystal altar for the arena. The altar was pretty, but the rest of the thing were Asphalt blocks and torches/gemspark walls anyway.
but you could say it's for old one army, pumpking moon and frost moon events
That's what I hate the most about Hardmode. I usually just do seal clubbing when I reach Pumpkin Moon with whatever crowd control weapon I get my hands on. I only build stuff for pre-Hardmode.
Hello, I'd like some suggestions for improving my forest builds (I havent touched terraria in like 2 years so I'm quite rusty)
you could try to add more colors
a monotone brown isnt too appealing
and this is personal preference but the roof on the second one could be changed to something like leaves, hay, or shingles as well.
I thought of shingles but the only time the merchant offered them I was kinda poor
I'd like that but I have no idea on how to implement it
I'll try the stone slab and gray brick combo, it looks great
Try hammering your roof
Also shingles sold by travelling merchant
...
Some stone slabs/bricks could also add a lot
And deep paint them item flasks, the liquid inside copying item rarity rather than color hurts to look at
I'm pre bee, but that's the plan
The fuck does QB have to do with this
Painter and dye trader have no boss requirements
Dye vat + 2 paint (not white, brown, grey or black) = deep paint
my 1.4.5 gnome farm, with hoiks, timers, and belts :)
All the tools for paint also sold by painter
https://imgur.com/dpbCdQq fuck building underground desert or above/underground tundra, we are FISHMAXXING
that is the strat
I can’t decide which side of my house to build a blacksmith on, so I’ll let yall decide
I want a little village with specialized buildings, blacksmith for furnaces, etc
I know I want to do something with that random ass pyramid
You could do it in the flat near the pond, which could double as a dock if you feel like it
hey guys, im not a really creative person so ill ask yall but im doing some kind of town rn and im tired of the dirt ground so i was wondering if there was a good looking block for grounding
Vampire "oh gee I wonder what structure I'll live in" the humble castle:
can i ask u how u made the walls?
probably wood and ebonwood mixed
In one of my worlds my town square uses a mix of stone and grass to feel somewhat authentic, and it looks cool
i think thats what youre talking about
ye it does
ill try that ty
how do i hide poking out walls like this again
you can use echo walls
i feel like i remember this beign a thing
you don't
ohh
fuckkk
it was echo walls not echo coating
broken heart emoji
Only took a few hours of refinement until my brain decided yeah sure that
@upbeat ether
ugh, i need ideas
like ill look at elden ring
Ok how about a bosses arena with giant stacks of books
but also the issue is that the elden ring stuff is always so big
thanks tho
Easy, just level the entire world to give yourself even more space
something like rya lucaria would be nice but its so damn big
maybe i do liurnia and really practice trees
i wont do like the exact thing buty just like a swamp with trees and such
thank you
Here's how my jungle biome is looking on the map:
Damn, That’s cool
im in love with this
no wonder people don't post/make areena builds, mixing stones was horrible lol
will wip
i thought onlky angler need cage
goblin def needs one
is it possible to use Tedit on a calamity world?
yes but it messes stuff up
They’re in cages because they’re homeless in that world
so theres no escaping of doing a mushroom farm by hand
for what
ahh, if you needed seed the dryad sells them when in a mushroom biome
ik that, but i want to make a base that has every farm possible
if possible that is
i have a big area dug out but idk what to build any ideas
What was that
someone tried to post a link
bro why dont starfall clouds work during the day they look so good with echo coating
Ball knowledge
i only know vivi from magic the gathering, never played a final fantasy game

...
i might play final fantasy at some point
Pov when your 10: I wanna be a astronaut, I wanna be a docter, I wanna be a loyar. Pov when your 20: I wanna have enough money to eat today.
Here's the center of my world on the map, basically the middle is a mini snow biome:
https://imgur.com/a/25dvQ49 is it safe to make an arena on top of my base ? ( im playing calamity )
Safe for who….you or them?
for npcs
I mean, if you kill the boss fast enough anywhere is safe
on other thought, nvm i have an armor showcase, and it lags like hell
Up close photos of some of my other builds, including a map photo of some of my Hell layer.
Looks pretty efficient.
yeah, i have everything but an afk underground farm and arena
i love it ❤️
Oh cool samus
My WoF arena, the heart statues generate hearts when the pressure plates are stepped on.
That one was a pain in the ass to get the colors correct on the map, believe me.
No RoD farm?
rod farm ?
whats rod ?
im gonna make one when i get there
Even before you can shimmer the rod of discord it’s still incredibly helpful to have on any playthrough
will do
hey yall i need some build inspiration, right now i have a bit of a space magic theme to my world in my new playthrough and ill build anything in relation to either space or magic or both. I have a fallen star as my main base, a crescent moon with a star in my snow biome and it looks great with an aurora, and i have a giant pink sparkle with a small magical forest with pink and white trees in the shimmer biome. I wanna make something for the jungle now for a pylon but dont know what to build for the jungle and need inspiration. i was thinking about making like a cosmic tree but i feel that something like that would be best for my hallow biome so im unsure what to build in the jungle for a space/magical theme. Ive been using gem spark blocks for the most part because i like the vibe they bring towards the theme.
I can't help but notice
You didn't mention wizard tower
Overgrown wizard tower
Otherwise maybe something constellation theme?
Floating above the jungle
would that work with bright blocks? i plan on either using gem blocks or like smooth textured blocks (like slime blocks) with illuminated paint
what can i search up in google for inspiration for an idea like that?
because i dont go too much into detail really cause i suck at building, all my builds so far is just pixel art made into npc houses with maybe small detail
i enjoy the actual gameplay more than building honestly, just getting tired of the 3x12 prison boxes
Well, you won't get better at building without practice,,,
3x12?! Not even shoeboxes holy
ooooh maybe a beanstalk into a cloud with something like a wizard tower could work
Ooooooo beanstalk would be SICK
thats magic related and the wizard tower floating in the sky would be sick
i can use the emerald gem blocks for it and actuate some for shadowy touch to it
i think thats what ill do
thanks for the help if you didn’t mention wizard tower or floating island i probably wouldn’t have thought of that
I didn't mention floating island btw
you just said floating
so i thought of island
but i think i could actuate the blocks of the beanstalk to make it look like a vine is wrapping around it
serves as like a staircase aswell in a way
why do aetherium bricks look so ahh
i was making a cool shimmer biome pylon house and it just does not look great at all
try using flinx fur blocks maybe?
they look pretty good
sweet
i would suggest not using the walls of the flinx fur blocks tho they are kinda mid
up to you
Random build idea
Literally walmart
Super high ceilings, lots of wall variety potential, plenty of pillars and upper greebles
Bonus points. Teleporters that bring you to hidden, other parts of the store
Like the meat coolers and the pharmacy
Hidden like, deep underground
is there a specific reason i cant post images in here
how long does it take to get the role?
New to building, trying to build a cool storage room in the snow biome. Anyone got any recomendations what blocks look good? Or some example builds for inspo?
okay thanks ive js seen this lol
yes im also trying to build a storage room
but i already have an image in my mind
maybe a mine type of build? Pillars n mine cart tracks?
just a thought though
What are you wanting to do? Im torn between doing like a optimized circle with max deposit length, and then maybe turning that into a yin yang circle somehow or indivdiual specalized storage rooms. Also was thinking if the circle maybe a pokeball would be unique?
man, pillars exist? Lol. Sorry I just started the game a couple days ago, you may have just changed my whole world
an example of a building using those walls
Thank you man!!!! Thats exactly what I needed to see!! I have an idea now
gl 🙏
Are you aware of paint? 0w0
Paint is perhaps the greatest building tool ever devised
left is storage right is crafting
Why the ceilings so high man, gotta fill that empty space with smthg 0w0
oh its because i was gonna fill the empty space with platforms and stuff on them
kinda like dungeon
What’s the one with the circular pattern beneath the plat?
The X one is silver The collumn one is plat and the bottom lining is ebonstone walls
(sorry was getting lunch)
oh ok srry
Looks vaguely like the metal used here on the bridge railing
for the top of the tree should i make a canopy or a large ball like the huge living trees https://imgur.com/a/hDPLT2c

hey gamers, i’ve been cooking this up because i wanted an actual useful/pretty snow pylon but now i don’t really know what to do in it, i was thinking like big machinery or training camps (because i’ll place goblin and mechanic in a house here) to match the npcs… any ideas?
i NEED negative coating so bad
sweatshop
that didnt get automodded
damn
I usually hate these ideas... But these are really good, actually. Negative coating is something me (and I assume a lot of other people) have been wishing for a while now
idk how i feel about shimmer coating, i think ill have to actually see it
My fav is accent coating
I appreciate the idea of deep illuminant for custom lamps and shining objects too.
kinda basic but i like a big ice spike for the snow pylon
Pure coating is so you could have biome blocks in your build
thats real
i would love this
Tough coating was for decorating adventure maps and puzzles
basic ≠ bad, i kinda like it
will do
never made an adventure map but it def seems useful to an extent
ooh that looks really sweet
My blacksmith looks nowhere near as clean lol...
tough coating would def need to be locked behind like golem so to not ruin enjoyment
I put it behind plantera cause pickaxe axe, shroomite, and spectre all have 200 pp
heh, pp
Heh
I want to make a map of sorts
A horror one involving ingame cutscenes (all in vanilla of course)
closest was i made like 1 scuffed parkour course once
I got a rough idea but I need free time
i have so much free time and ive been doing nothing productive
Accent coating would be a godsend
my work in progress jungle base which is undergoing some heavy adjustments because of technical issues
pre hardmode only wof left, master mode hardcore, this thing is being built like an anti giant turtle fortress
Holy hell, this is grand. What's your inspiration behind this? What colors are you going to use?
These are not the same build lol, whatcha mean before and after?
i wanna try making a ruins build for once, any tips before i start?
https://imgur.com/PgqMjRU skyblock been making me WORK
i wanna try to use this space for it
helium moss
Like, I guess there's nothing stopping me from just making flat platforms at certain heights
I did that for the underground and cavern
Oooo you could build a big tree on the left and have it pierce the build
But since then i've been manually making giant enclosed cubes for some reason which massively increases the effort
HI MEEP
Green paint green moss is green
On the left hill
my inspiration is living in the hardmode jungle without being afraid of giant turtles
https://imgur.com/jd0ZWvv here's a map view
Yup. Those are squares
What you need are NPCs and pink candles, not decoration then 😂
But keep up with the castle-like build, the foundation is really interesting.
but god damn they're a lot of work
Each one goes from 130 above surface or so to a ways down in the cavern layer
ty, its by far one of my simpler builds but im liking the gist of it
yeah I forgot pink candles even existed
Have you posted your builds here before? I want to check them out now
Ive already finished terraria mm hardcore before yet I completely forgot the existence of them candles
Oh I used to build quite a lot back then, this is my first build in a while, besides one I was working on a couple of weeks ago that I simply dropped
Howdy
Goddamn, that castle in the Jungle is indeed one of your minor builds.
By the way, how did you do that 3D effects with two beveled blocks painted? Do you use echo blocks + walls?
Learning 3D might help me with a project I'm cooking.
https://imgur.com/BMqA7P7 because this is my first playthrough truly building more themed towns, I never knew just how much I love the set for boreal wood
(the blocky houses are placeholders while I build a big townhouse/shack)
Its all about paint, actuators and using lots of different blocks and walls
Oh, actuators are a thing, never used them. Will try that later on, just have no idea how to achieve the bevels with two different tones.
whats a bevel?
They push blocks into the background, making them darker and passable
oh I see
Main point of making use of them in 3d is to make em darker
Straight edge not square to the rest of the construction
When you hammer a block and it becomes a triangle rather than the default square.
I call that diagonal-ish block a bevel
main blocks I make use of when painted white and actuated become about identical to gray painted walls
so in order to make a basic shadow one can use a gray painted block then a white painted actuated block
Fair and technically correct I reckon, most people call them sloped
Thanks for clarifying!
How do I make a class that works like a vanilla class? I have a thrower class. I want to make the thrower similar to the vanilla class.
white painted wall followed by a white painted actuated block
Are you by any chance into wood working?
Oh, I guess it makes sense then! But it won't work with any other color than gray/white on stone, right?
Big tip for making stuff look good. Mix some different woods or stones together, instead of going straight boreal.
Only place I hear bevel edges is wood turning discussions 😂
I know
Not really, but I have been through many things in my life, including metal turning and CAD drawing.
I'm planning to at the very least add a lot of more crackly looking blocks (best way I can describe it)
kinda making it look like an old shack in the middle of a snowy place
with ice on it
You can do non grayscale 3d too, however you're forced to making use of more blocks and walls than with grayscale, which tends to be a little more time consuming
This one is from early 2020, perspective and other stuff was really off but the point is the 3d colored stuff
For the front I used team blocks, side honey, walls were negative slime wall and negative sapphire gemspark wall
I think this is the build of mine which uses boreal the most. You can also use mahogany and some other block for a log cabin vibe
I also used negative sapphire gemspark block for the slopes
yeesh aint no way i'm pulling that off
Metal turning might be it then, assume similar wood turning
Oh I get it, it really makes sense. I might not try it now, since the ideas I'm currently having are simpler than that and I might not be that competent for that.
They both use fairly simple techniques. Especially the cabin
The bigger one is a bit complex because it's uses themed rooms
Well it's all about time and practice really
Which is a lil more advanced
I guess it was just me guessing the word for it. Most of the time I played Terraria was alone, and when I did in multiplayer, we were discussing mostly which boss to kill. I never really learned the game vocabulary.
I also never did hoik stuff.
This place don’t use similar vocab 😂
Oh and the hallow wood usage is also a lil bit advanced, using the lack of wall underneath to affect its texture
But other than that, it's just decent usage of background walls and blocks and paint
https://imgur.com/RYjbkPn rn i'm focusing on trying to make a good basic shape
I mean I also am not in hardmode and am on skyblock, so I don't exactly have an insane palette
Damn, this looks really nice and elaborate, but now I feel cheated by knowing how you did it 😂
I would never figure it out on my own
Yeah, but the micro build uses all prehm mats
god, wiring is much more simpler than redstone, but since there's lot more things to implement than just piston, its felt more complicated
Because it was designed with the intent as a generated structure
Yeah it looks nice
In terms of town hall, I'd try to do something like this in terms of shape. With a central tower, 2 wings, and a big meeting room in the middle
It is certainly much more complex. Don't try to learn it all in one go though, but try something new with time. When you start with logic gates, then you are literally working computer stuff inside the game.
ugh I wish I had actuators
I haven't even done skeletron because i've just been procrastinating with building the other biomes and maxing my fishing power
All finished
A lil more stuff with color
Oooo explain garage?
Actually, could bump up the center room, to make the meeting hall even more important like this...
@tough hearth thoughts?
Not really a town hall, I moreso just meant big house
https://imgur.com/kSWrJJb look at this cool little thing I did tho
The tree is a support
it lwk looks cool
Hmmm... The biggest thing in house design is asymmetricality. And you should be using a differing block (like red brick) as roofing, to build out overhangs and support
Support trees p cool~
I like it when its symmetrical, but I can add in asymmetry later perhaps
Here's an example house™ showing off various, simple techniques
Note how the roof helps fill out the shape of the build.
I mean I get the idea
I just am not quite cracked at this yet
Literally just started seriously trying to build in this game for the first time in like 11 years a couple days ago 😭
And that's okay!
I'm just trying to push you towards more advanced basic techniques, jumpstart your journey with some fundamentals.
Tbf I also probably wont be doing this for a ton of time
but I do appreciate the help
hm
https://imgur.com/JmWZtFt started adding some cool looking cracks and stuff
I mean same here
But tbf i'm not exactly super active
me neither
Bro you have less that 100 messages sent
I’m just trying to send a picture because i cannot for the life of me shape out this house im building
Use imgur
Hmmm
I have 64 messages 💀
Actually all 64 are since yesterday, meaning my ass somehow never sent a message in the 7 years of being here
lol
i’m gonna make the snow biome my main house bc i love the aurora in the game now
I’ve always liked the snow biome
And boreal
but i’m using brown painted dynasty
@mint imp https://imgur.com/LzNL2e6 here's an actually cool town I made this playthrough
why is it floating
skyblock
It's like Skyblock or smthng
ah
but yeah
some cabin type
house
I always build fancy shoeboxes
https://imgur.com/jd0ZWvv this is literally my world map
Oooo you could do an A frame!
Something shaped like this maybe?
God, I used to have such sauce, I'm so washed now ;-;
Dude I wish so badly for there to be some sort of invisibility paint so I can have the look of no walls without making invalid housing
There is
Echo coating
Yes
i kind of liked this
But uh I think it's sold by the cyborg?
FUCK
You could do. Is do a texture pack
And just make one random block invisible
As a temp solush
Nah it's fine, i'll just have the lower habitable places be seperated from the messed up part by platforms for now
Or buy it from the cyborg in another world since who really cares if you get echo coating early
I actually have zero other vanilla terraria worlds on this pc somehow
Oh.
Lwk that’s what i did in this world i didn’t have the painter so i just bought paint from another world sue me
can you place icicles by any means
I use cheat sheet like, constantly, when I'm building. It doesn't really matter to me
Uhhh rubblemaker maybe?
Cheat sheet isn't available for 1.4.5 yet
Would that even be able to place them on something non icy
Yeah. I haven't gotten to see the cool new 1.4.5 stuff yet 😭

My glorious particle accelerator
Ye, smol holes are acceptable
messed up icy shack
ah
in all my years I thought you needed walls through the whole thing
crazy
Smol holes are how I did my uh reception desk in my apartment and observatory
It works rlly well
On pc runs way smoother
But I play on console
Sooo
Its kinda ass
Massive shame tbh, it adds official skyblock which is what i'm playing
See how the wood sticks up at the desk slightly?
That's because there's a gap in the wallpaper there
yea
It's a pretty neat technique
i do that with my fireplaces a lot
https://imgur.com/2m7x8gg lwk i'm liking how messed up its coming along
Oh, like, through the roof?
That's p cool
some wals def work better for it than others
its just all walls with some echo coating on a few to make it stick out a bit
I seees
ebonwood walls
oh cool
brown painted ebonwood
dynasty wood?
nope, neither blue nor white dynasty wood
looks like brown painted bamboo walls
do you mean the vertical beams? not the horizontal ones?
i think they mean these
bc if you do, it's large bamboo walls painted brown
mhm yeah
i mean the ones going horizontal
oh
i have the bamboo ones
its driving me crazy
the uneven shape makes me think its wood but none of the woods i have match the battern
looks like some kind of stone
maybe sandstone brick??
hardened sand?
ill check
can you circle the block you want?
Slab
i can only send links i think, and ill double check the list of walls on the wiki
if you don't permissions, you need to use imgur
is there any kind of snow/ice wall I can place
Is it that stuff
oh that? that should be sandstone brick wall painted orange
idk if it's deep orange or just regular orange though
snow bricks or ice bricks
I think ebonstone brick wall has a similar texture too so if the color's not right, you can try both
alr i'll see
It's one of the slabs
are you sure you don't have a resource pack on? lol
it's definitely either sandstone or ebonstone brick wall
vanilla
oh well there you go @paper mulch
Just get anything with slab in the name
yeah it looks like that
trying that next
Anyone got any tips for texturing large amounts of natural looking stone for like a cliff or mountain? Anytimr i fo it, it looks spotty
send a pic?
you know what, i actually have do not think its ebonstone. im very frustrated, every type of slab or brick wall i apply does not have that uneven bottom layer between the brick wall and the sandstone wall
it physically is one of the walls between sandstone or ebonstone, not a single other wall in the game has those textures
walls overlapping like that is often inconsistent
ill test the order of application to see if i can recreate the unevenness then
Uneven?
Do you mean the desert haze?
Because there's a HIGH probability that's just desert haze
they likely mean this, which could be a heat distortion moment but
actually yeah it most definitely is just a heat distortion moment you can easily see it with the far right tile lol
And the table
heat distortion is just not a pleasant setting though, builds look far better & more consistent without it
Table is normally straight and symmetrical
but yeah for explanation this is what is causing it @paper mulch
But because of heat distortion it looks like that
not exclusively a desert thing (as iirc it also applies to underworld stuff) but yea
Mystery solved 🎉
so its just freaking sandstone brick this entire time
well yes as no other brick wall in the game matches texture wise besides ebonstone brick which is a slight recolour with a little varied shading
its been raining the entire time ive been trying to recreate this
that would also do it
as heat distortion impacts that
additionally also tied to your lighting setting too
wow, just fought wof and
tbh I'd use a diff type of block to texture it
thats probably the easiest wof fight ive ever had
despite the fact its mm
prep really is everything ig
it also looks like there's a lot of horizontal/vertical lines formed by the blocks you placed down when texturing
mainly it looks patchy bc it is patchy. the blocks you're using to texture aren't being evenly distributed within the stone
is there any way to make even distribution easier or just practice?
I JUST FOUND OUT AND CAME BACK ALL HYPE TO THE CHAT HAHA
https://imgur.com/Ic3Jrf6 oh my god it turned out so good
Thank you very much i am very excited to try the shimmer paint on my arnea build. Im trying to make a aether/shimmer themed arena
Went through all the effort to fill in the ground below it with ice to make it look like it isn't a floating island
So worth it
pratice tbh
texturing can be quite time consuming
@mint imp
usually I use 3-5 types of blocks when texturing
basically you don't want to see unnatural patterns, and when you do, use a diff block to break it up
It definitely came together more than I thought it would lol. Pretty neato build
The lighting makes it look so good!
pretend i heart reacted your messages
thanks
thanks, putting effort into the surrounding environment made all the difference
IKR??
I'm so happy I found such a perfect wall to put for the little ice cave below too
Marble walls
thanks
I'm not good at building but i'm ok at landscaping
:p
God its gonna be so nice when I get terrarian role
imgur is fast all things considered but the extra step sucks
I wish this disc let us send heart emojis i need to like all these mf photos of these sick builds
someone tell a mod i need the ability to share da love xD

cant wait to see what a wizard tower is gonna look on this island
Anyone wanna build in my world? it's journey but I lack creativeness or the talent to build anything good
Then practice
If you want nice builds practice on a seperate world till your happy
Peoppe dont get good at building randomly everyone has to learn
Oh lol im not making a mod
lil' prison cell for the greedy stinkerer in my afk farm
he will forever be ensalved in here, and i've made sure to let him know what'll happen if he steps out of line
side note i hate cobweb slimes leaving a trail, i'm gonna have to clean this up every now and again

Looks good
I'd give the roof a smidge more texture with grey bricks and add a row of brick walls behind the fireplace to have the chimney sorta look like its going through the wall up to the roof but otherwise this is a really solid house
ok
thanks
@young bridge https://imgur.com/a/iSPKpqi
this is the worst one ive built imo
A little too bland with the walls and the tower is a little... Er... Empty? And kinda textureless...
Everything else is pretty good
how could i add more to texture
also the dye trader keeps sitting in the stylist's chair
Make it thicker, make it smaller, add something to make the walls not flat, different walls, etc.
NPCs don't really give a shit which piece of furniture is in which room
If a chair is open they will sit
yeah but even if the chair isnt open he just stands near the stylist's chair instead of his owm
iunno dude
If you want some inspiration here's my desert NPC housing build #terraria-creations message
Not my best build, but hardened sand is a nice texturing block
how do u get
the
gramophone
Music box from wizard -> records Deerclop's theme
bruh
i aint doin allat
Its not that much...?
All you need is to have music nox equipped around Deerclops, it'll have the theme recorded and you're done
You can do them in bulk so you only need 1 deerclops
Deerclops summons also show up in ice chests now...
Gem stained glass wall with a darker wall border would be good on the tower.
i dont know how to get that 😭
yeah i already looted all of the deerclops summons
https://imgur.com/a/TYtvYYV surely this build has no flaws right
These aren't really "flaws" but I'd use wrought iron fence over the regular one
Also texturing slabs with gray brick
hold on i took @old monolith 's advice
i didnt know "wrought iron fence" existed
you would if you tried looking for more blocks to use in your builds
hey man how am i supposed to just randomly place a heavy workbech in a graveyard biome
... ask the guide
Just started this like 30 mins ago. its for a much bigger build. biggest I have ever done. there are other parts that are done but I wont show until its all complete. p.s. I know the texturing is very choppy but I havent really put in the time yet.
https://imgur.com/a/rz7yUwX My base on my first 1.4.5 playthrough. Could've textured and designed it more but I got lazy lol.
looks cool. I would definitely work on that texturing a bit more
here are some older builds part of the same project. as the castle entrance I just built.
I have expanded a shit ton on these builds recently
is the sword placed with rubble maker?
yes
woah i didnt know that it has that lol
yeah
its a terragrim I used in it
I just completed 100% of my research menu with the 1.4.5 items so now I decided to start building again.
Then its so good for hand railings for bridges and stairs.
@old monolith https://imgur.com/a/uoRXlRA is this what its supposed to look like
My Clothier Shimmer house:
looks cool
Personally, I would've bordered the glass stained walls and removed the pillars
border with what
woah, thats cool. is that the new gothic brick?
if i use paint on the sides its all blocky
actuated hammered blocks should do the trick
actuators
ACTUATORS
i dont even know how to use those
😭
Yes
Thanks 👍
Thanks 👍
DUDEHOW THE HELL
AM I SUPPOSED TO USE ACTUATORS
bro this desert house is genuinely my worst build
https://imgur.com/a/cWI1lE6 like how can i build THIS
but not a STUPID DESERT HOUSE
Try to learn it, it will make builds so good lol
yo how do i delete actuators
Most of it are hammered blocks. Dont know the names of all the blocks used but you can check the wiki for that lol
how do i break actuators
anyone got a desgin for larg npc housing?
i tried actually building a small tree and im not too annoyed with the end result
you can use imgur
Either use imagur etc or be active to get the terrarian role
Either use imgur or just be active here till you get the role
#terrarian-role-info
some texturing on the stone would go a long way
im working on the ones near the tree rn
like this?
theres crimstone brick and green slab walls in there
(also gonna start a new jungle build for once, been a min
but i guess the textures are pretty close to each other
hmmm my brain is blanking
Atleast you've got one🫠
I'm jealous now
ill probably just go for something nice and familliar just more advanced, something like a botanical research outpost
still the mudstone ratio is way to high
what block did you use for it. it looks cool
looks like mudstone, regular stone and crimstone
yeah
oh actually i have a great idea for the general shape and structure
what part do you not get
i dont like whats supposed to be mixed and where
with the tree, i made like vines and made that out of leaf compared to the usual mahog leaves
well at the end of the day its whatever you like the best, my opinion is just my preference
generally i mix my stone stuff like this
it has a pretty worn vibe to it
i usually dont do too bad in buildings i feel live
That looks sick. What is it?
like just normal buildings
bro how do people build like this
ive just started to try building houses that arent just boxes or towers
stone, green brick, gray brick, mudstone brick, crimstone brick
and some of these in here are nuts
practice
If that wall is supposed to have been made of bricks at some point try putting in some gray brick, or another block with some more structure to break up the crunchy-ness you've got going ot atm
I mean like the build itself
people have been building here for like years
stone, crimstone bricks, mudstone, ebonstone bricks, blue dungeon bricks, gray bricks, copper bricks and probably some other things sprinkled throughout
my main issue is i want the darkness of the mudstone brick in the build
if yall want i can document my creative process for the build im making rn, conveniently it has a bunch of stone in it
like i got similar with actuated crimstone brick
Something I've started doing is making the walls and ceiling 2 blocks thick
this is what ill be starting with
Gray brick was just an example. In your case I 100% agree it's probably too bright but I think it gets the idea across as to what I would be looking for in a block to mix in
Maybe one of the dungeon bricks?
i added a bit over here
Yes. I like that 🙂
it works especially well because of the already weathered look of some of it
air gap bad
Hey guys
Can someone tell me
What are the background walls that were used
For the stone background
alot of different ones, its too blurry to tell which ones exactly
Only 2?
Also is that a platform on top of the multicolored glass walls?
no def mudstone too
How to do that
The wall under the item frame
too much green brick now
there are other dungeon bricks to mix
eitherway, after a little thinking this will be the foundation
ancient green brick is nice for a darker gray brick texture
i wouldnt do this but i need an easy reference for gray painted bricks anyway so i may as well not procrastinate
quick little desert pylon
polaris and prime are so much better than vanilla
vanilla looks grainy af
Even the devs know that, the new textures are much more like polaris and prime
big pass for me tbh
the prospector set and welding mask (the thing im wearing) look straight outta calamity with their insane use of hue shifting
we need decorative cracked dungeon bricks
we are ALL using the luminite bricks in our builds
why is there so many 😭
i think ill go for this style of greenhouse
what should i do with this area between my house and fishing hut? i wanna make some sort of bridge but not too sure how to do it
https://imgur.com/a/n0m5W3J
tree
yeah, garden + stone bridge would be cool
ill give them both a try, ive been using other builds as references but i kinda want to do give that my own shot
ty
after a bit of fitting i decided this is gonna be the general shape of the green house
Hey guys what else can i add to make this better
I kinda feel like it's missing a whole lot of things
i like the tent but it kinda feels slightly off
Any suggestions
im not too sure why so not really
i never thought to have done background trees like that
nice
it feels like i need a background arch in the top middle but i have no idea what wall to use
https://imgur.com/YanBgDR
Moon phases
Well they're meant to be into the moon phases, since it's a Moon lord drop n all
i just made this graphic of a bunch of bricks/stone painted gray so maybe it can help you?
@silk hawk
Ooooohhhhh
its basically anything thats called a brick or at least stoney
thanks
Im gonna save that
not yet, i still need to add/change some things
also i'm still workshoping what the floor should be
I wanna get some money scheming going cause apparently you can get a projector by throwing a plat coin into desert water?
I want that grayscale look it makes
A plat is gonna take a while to get though
i think this is it, ill make another one with all the ores too ig
This is so helpful bro
i wanna make it more cohesive as well
No longer have to keep placing blocks to know how it looks
i just grabbed it based on order in the journey inventory
ores
now i need to make it make sense
https://imgur.com/a/EPWwvHf
Working on a tower for the wizard to live in, but I'm a bit stumped on what the top should look like
comically tall pointed roof
pointy like a wizard hat?
alot of towers do that
K
like this but more comically tallwe
Oh I forgot to show my house in this I think
Are those dynasty shingles?
Yes
yess
Dynasty wood my beloved
What do y'all think of my house + pylon
ignore the turtle on a shelve and bunny on the roof
I didn't remove them cause i thought it looked mad funny tho
Awesome
https://imgur.com/a/AiKnjkc
it's done
id make it taper in
https://imgur.com/LzX0bgJ
Like this?
like where is wider at the bottom then curves towards the top

ah ok
each moon phase :D
https://imgur.com/kBvkLzv
How about this?
yeah
What should I put in the empty space?
possible more shingles but that could get boring for the eyes
i put a vine in this one but thats because there was a vine around the whole build
I could probably put a bedroom or smth
https://imgur.com/SPp8nVg
I made a way to get into the roof area
looks good so far
Thankies
Got any recommendations or anything??
this was an ass to complete during my college exams
because i made it, i get to see what each block looks like painted any color i want
What block is this?
grate
i could kiss you
How do I make it? 😞
1 iron/lead bar at an anvil
heres what they would look like if they were all gray
i could kiss you agaon
now brown
