Well that's not very nice... Someone didn't get hugged enough as a child, huh?
yo mom so fat that the catapult broke
Not funny
thats really smart wow
sorry shams
ty
this took a little while to finish
Guys someone know how i can send pictures?im sorry abt typing here
quaint and cute, nice
Hobbit houses
hm... pine or ash? (dynasty for scale)
Did they add pine wood in 1.4.5?
yeh
Now I can have a pinewood derby
I like pine most because it’s least plastic looking
Where do you guys get your build ideas from? Lowkey pretty new to the game and im trying to build a nice starter base, not just a box with rooms lol
Khaios
50/50 on whims during building or a random idea beforehand
your imagination
now I wanna know how are those transitions between elements done
Damn, Pie be gettin' ideas from Zeni's imagination.
:P
Im building something i saw on reddit, how do i do these bricks thing?
https://imgur.com/a/I4wkiTr
palladium collums
Oh thanks
how can i upload images cus im trying to make a house and i need tips on how to make it look better
Come dm pls
sure
are book walls in terraria or is that a mod im lookin at?
They're new in 1.4.5
(https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Librarian_Wall)
Librarian Walls are a type of wall crafted from Librarian Blocks. As with most placed walls, they are compatible with NPC housing and will stop enemies from spawning.
I feel like making a vampiric church of sorts, but I don't know what kind of bricks I should use for the layout or whatever
I already plan on using crimtane for the furniture
mudstone brick is a nice dark reddish brown that might go well as a neutral color
I'd use crimtane brick itself, but it absolutely won't work, and frankly doesn't look nice
Kinda wish they'd make it look more like bricks instead of... whatever that is
But I can try mudstone
Also gotta figure out what I want for the walls too
You sure about this?
I'm talking about like the whole frame
Yeah...
I've been working on a HUGE project the past few months. I've collected, organized, and displayed EVERY block, wall, and furniture that is accessible pre-1.4.5. I basically make a huge comprehensive showcase of everything that Terraria has to offer (prior to 1.4.5).
I call this project: The Grand Display. I hope it will inform and inspire builders with blocks and furniture they've never considered using before. I'll be releasing the finished reference document and world soon, but for now I have a brief preview to show what it will look like. I've arranged the blocks to show off as many sprites and hammered states of each as I can, and I've given everything a nice label.
I can't post images yet, so I have to use a Reddit link. I had been posting about my progress over there the past month.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Terraria/comments/1qw3mrq/the_grand_display_compilation_preview/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
bruh I got muted all cuz I was tryna replicate the "son im crine" meme with a few laugh crying emojis.
This foundation look good?
Happened to me last night because I tried to use the eagle, oil barrel, and american flag emojis in one message
man that's dumb fr. Muting for spam I get, but using a few too many emojis feels like too much
anyway, aint no way there's a bookshelf bathtub 😭
You're right, because it's actually called the librarian bathtub
I need advice, I have finished my storage and crafting area, (for the most part) but I am wondering what to build right about to have easy access, but still keep enemies out. I am pre wof, and I also want to have my big arena right above my spawn. Any suggestions? https://imgur.com/a/hcoKLuZ
Just have NPC housing
NPCs dramatically reduce spawn rates, 3 will basically make it nothing
I see, thanks for the tip
Anyone got a good looking vampire vanity to go along with the mount
They have a vampire vanity, it doesn't look the greatest though
Depends on the type of vampire you're going for.
Can y'all think of any better materials for this bell? I'm using smooth sandstone right now, but I'm wondering if there's anything with a smooth metallic texture
You could try honey that's the same color or you could try the new forbidden block that might also look good, but then again you could really use anything and just paint it yellow
I tried forbidden block, but the symbols on it don't really fit. I'll try honey, tho
That would be cool to see, not many blocks that could fit the metal vibe your looking for. All the ones that I looked at when they're doubled up and it makes a different texture altogether but honey doesn't
Nice, are you using a texture pack? It doesn't look as vibrant as I remember
Switch player here
No, I'm just in a graveyard biome
Ah, well I'm sure your build will come out great
Thanks. This is what I've got so far
I like to vibe you're going for pretty cool
Thanks
Too fancy for me I actually prefer the shoebox
why cant i post a picture here?
how do i fix this its my first build also its no were near finished https://imgur.com/a/Vks5scW
How does copper look?
Also, that's a big bell, for such a small chain...
Have you thought about making the tower taller or the bell smaller?
Okay so, building basics.
Step 1, it's all about shape. You have a cool enough shape, but it needs fleshing out with movement between rooms
Step 2. It's about how blocks and walls LOOK, not where they come from
Step 3. Its all about mixing things together, multiple wall types are essential for making stuff look good
Step 0.5 it's all about theme. Think about WHAT you are building and what it should look like
Still wanting a Dracula vanity?
watched a vid abt all those tips, i want the theme to be almost like this guys build https://imgur.com/a/vVWhqYz
Credit to u/Psyanide5210 on Reddit...
Yeah that's... Basically themeless. I assume this is a base from a YouTube series?
nah a random picture i found in this channel
It's a pretty simple style, should be fairly simple to copy it iver
Marble walls, meteorite baseboards and transitions, plus a random assortment of unframed windows
If you want something that looks just like that
Oh and double thick meteorite everywhere
That looks pretty cool, I'm rocking full moon lord set with Hunter's cloak rn.
I think someone else was asking about a vampire set
With void-bound dye...?
Vampire vanity for you.
Just regular, I will see how it looks with void dye tho
It's strange, but seeing the four endgame armors, with their respective dyes... They don't look... Like you'd expect.
I'll consider it
Hey there, are there possibly some Terraria gurus around who can tell what a block is by a picture? XD
I really wanna know what the wood(-looking) blocks are right above the door in the middle since it has those vertical line highlights. And the same block is SOMEHOW used as a background just left to the stair. And I have no idea what blocks can even be in the background like that. Did they use actuators? Fences? But no fence I know creates this effect and actuators would put the platforms into the background as well, I think. I am baffled
I can't send the picture, though it seems
Post it and we'll take a look at it.
I don't see many people who wear the dyed respective of their armors... They're really intense.
Yeah, if I send the link it immediately gets deleted. Do I need a specific role for that?
Yup
What do I need to type in to see it?
You mean the link itself? architecturelab.net/terraria-house-ideas/
The 17th house, Terraria Winter Cabin
The problem I have is that is has to be a fence somehow?! Because you can't place blocks over beams so the platforms on the beam left of the stair make no sense and it doesn't seem to be a wall either. Are there more background blocks I don't know about?
And a beam isn't enough to put a door under either so it can't be the block just above the middle door either. I am stumped, honestly
did anyone see that message i sent get insta deleted
It had a picture in it, didn't it? Same issue I just mentioned. You need the Terrarian role to share pics
Oh. Then I have no idea
Yeah gifs don't work in here
i was trying to say that your link didnt work cause it need the suffix at the begining
the https
I think its brown painted bamboo and bamboo walls
with the ://
Bamboo? I hadn't considered that. Lemme see
Hm. Apparently no bamboo either. The horizontal lines are half a block left and then right, alternating with a vertical line splitting the two sides down to the bottom
sorry large bamboo
I forgot bamboo was a seprate block
Oh my god, it is!
Thanks so much. That gave me a headache and a half XD
https://imgur.com/a/P94sIw4 Just a build I have been working on to experiment with the new blocks
This is awesome.
house
how do i get image perms here
doorway design using the new duskware doors
How do the duekware doors work
Do they combine to make that big upsidown U shape?
the duskware doors are opened
up
they are the only door in the game as of now that do not connect to the top block when opened
how does one make a wizard tower roof
do you have to be a high level to send builds?
you just need terrarian role to send pics which needs you to talk for quite a while
ah makes sense
I was jumped by… LARRY
Very slight adjustment to my noita mountain altar
Think i still need to bring the pillars down a little, too tall proportionally
I used a snow toilet, close enough
It’s acceptable for now
Haha

There's toilets and poo blocks n walls, where's the furniture? Fisherman needs a home lol
Poo room with spike furniture maybe? It would only be fitting after making me do those 200 fishing quests
best house you lot have ever seen
I can confirm 👍
Something like this perhaps. on a smaller scale ofc
looks complicated
well it was too big to fit in 1 screenshot
Almost exactly like every wizard tower in existence lol, purple roof, little side bridge and a telescope
I like the telescopes tbh
They are pretty aight, just a tad over used imo
it's looks boring without ngl
how you expect a wizard tower to look dawg.
next up the mine entrance
now that I think about you can quite literally make your terraria world noita themed
Thats what my plan is haha
Im not particularly good at building so im remaking noita for practice
im good at building and even I forgot about noita you making me wanna do this too
at least gonna try to do the temple as a house lowkey sounds fun
don't tell me you're going to try making ||parallel worlds|| as well...
seriosuly tho, these are so cool, i don't play noita myself but let's just say i watch enough to know some ball
Holy, thats insane. I'm learning how to build like this. But i get so overwhelmed when it comes to building
Aegis reminds me a lot of Power Rangers fsr
I mean it's mostly just experimenting tbh use references too it helps a lot
ngl, would've been better if you used typical glass or blue/yellow starry blocks instead of grates
I don't want my telescope to have its vision obstructed
have a block palette to those monoliths, unless you're making a society of boulders
I didn't have those tbh
How do i send a screenshot
Yeah im gonna revisit it later. I gotta add vines and and stuff to it as well somehow
in the meantime, you'll have to send screenshots via imgur links
https://imgur.com/a/CliSG7o It is good?
it's a start, reminds me of my very first NPC houses from 2016, just gray stucco houses
Do you have any tips for me to do
try experimenting different block combinations, dont limit yourself to just one type of block
you can do the same with furniture as well
Ok
if you're feeling curious enough, try also paint
Ok
my old wizard tower from 2017
Cool
take it as inspiration, no paint is used but notice the variety of blocks and furniture variants
I made some other houses before it do you want to see them
i do use alot of references but sometimes i dont know the block in the build
let's see
https://imgur.com/a/r25l5dX I made this one for goblin and mechanic
here's mine from 2017
*btw Im sending my old builds so that way it will be easy for you to extrapolate the process (& materials used)
Ok
also dang, looking back at my builds all those years ago, Im amazed how much my style has evolved
old tax collector's house from 2018, this was when I began experimenting with paint and more furniture variety
Which paints did you use on this one
black, gray, white, negative
What does negative do
it inverts a block's colors
(in my tax collector's house, the pots are painted negative for a whiter look)
invert the block's colour
i see it most often used on leaves to make sakura trees
okay so when are you giving me back the braincell you borrowed
my gif got removed
it's likely automod
oh well

How do I make this window not look scuffed? (Second image)
Oh, I think I found the channel I want to live in permanently 💛
ayy, another resident. welcome to the neighborhood
Thanks! I recently decided I would stop procrastinating with personal projects due to gaming by making said projects inside of gaming instead. For a while I even looked at #creative for in-game art. All I needed was a little browsing.
I think I'll browse past content posted in here soon though, you have a huge history of images posted here though!
indeed, aspiring wannabe builder trying to make stuff look good
What do you usually vibe with in Terraria? Architecture?
yes
Let me scroll up to see your stuff
in my current playthrough i'm going to try experimenting with larger structures, more details, blocks i haven't used before and some of the new ones
granted, mostly in endgame once i have access to all the super convenient tools and enough power to make any event or invasion end immediately so i can build in peace
post skeletron building aint too shabby either though
Eh, for this new thing I'm going to study and try for a bit I just went up and Terrasavr the things into a Journey character. Which reminds me I need to get me some white paint today.
I'm too lazy to get Painter in this new world I made.
see, this is why i play the videogame
sense of accomplishment aside, i can get everything i could want on the side
npcs, dyes, random items i could use in the future, you name it
and not in journey mode i don't want to bother with characters being mutually exclusive to worlds
I get what you mean, but I think I have a different relationship with the game at this point
to each their own, this is a sandbox after all
I was really, really excited when 1.4.5 was released, tried to play it ASAP when it was released on Steam. Went straight into Skyblock (loved it for a while), but then I got bored of it because it felt like every single other of my walkthroughs. Maybe I'll save it for playing with my friends later on.
But then I was thinking how much of creative potential the game has, and to be fair, I never tried to do the stuff I learn in Graphic Design college, in-game.
the official skyblock is moreso slimeblock because every problem is solved by having slimes spoonfeeding the solution to you
ah... that is uh... far outside my field of knowledge.
I don't really minded the slimes, I liked the slimes better than having more isolate islands that needed to be found, for example. But, like you said, to each, their own.
I ended up having to learn and read about architecture stuff though!
Reddit has a lot of really neat architecture guides for Terraria though, I appreciated them.
By the way, I liked this!
thank you!
its one of my better builds, i'll admit, but i'm trying
granted, i'm not studying anything related, i don't know about colour theory or architectural integreity or anything to the likes. i just make stuff because its fun and i like looking at the process in retrospect.
By the way, you're a veteran in here, sorry if this is not the right place to ask but, do you think that with a month of regular posting, one can get the Terrarian role?
Are you having fun though? What was your goal all along?
there's no estimate time, i got it in a few weeks, less than a month, and there's no message count system
Got it 👍
i just make stuff because its fun and i like looking at the process in retrospect.
uhhh yeah
yes
there's more info here https://discord.com/channels/251072485095636994/1126698695459614740
as far as i know the role is given out manually, so you're gonna have to be a bit consistent with activity for a while to get it so that whoever can give out the role and is online notices your continued and consistent non-rulebreaking existance
Understandably. I just hate posting stuff on imgur, but I haven't anything to show yet... yet.
you could ask to dm it to me and i'll post it here
Thanks for the help though!
or anyone with the role for that matter, i'm sure they'll happily oblige
Hidden Sauna from Noita
i took some liberties with this one but i think it turned out well
alright there, theres a boulder toilet
@near mango do you know some cool desert theme wall combinations?
well out of the new stuff both easter wall & forbidden wall do seem like they could be quite good.
but personally i keep things simple with sandstone brick & yellow stucco as main walls, accents with large bamboo & ash wood for beams if it applies to the build, otherwise i'll often use gold brick wall as an accent wall (not in the same way) both to use as a trim at bottom of & top of wall but also as wall patterns
I'll try, thanks
i'm a little curious
could you please post/link me to examples of this? i've always struggled with builds that aren't specifically generic or ocean themed
If you feel more like decorating it in a fantasy way, Forbidden and Ancient Rune walls are great. I'm liking the new Forbidden walls painted.
Bro black painted kiln looks NICE might have to do this to all of mine.
I want to show my base off but I can’t send a pic
you can use imgur, or ask ppl with img perms if you can send it in their dms so they can send it here
kinda like me (just send the img in dms ill put it here)
Imgur is dead for some reason
Ain't working for me!
i've given you an alternative in the exact same sentence
you can always just... ask.
I know, it was just a fact ;>
Thanks for the kind offer too
ough, no gifs here
oh well, you're welcome
Anyone have a guild hall I can take inspo from? Google has been useless
Can you elaborate?
Like yk, a medieval guild hall
I personally don't have something like that
But my arena might match your request
I made a small hall thing for the ethernia crystal which might give some inspiration for a hall
https://imgur.com/a/Mb4yWP2
Here it is
Guys, is there any building MASTER around here?
I’m trying to make a temple, kinda like Zelda’s Temple of Time
but I have no idea what kind of lighting to use 💔
id love if someone could help me with some ideas.🙏🙏
Try painting different lights until you find something you like
Or use illuminant paint to make custom lamps
Gem blocks are also an option
want to take a look at my building?
Sure
this is my one desert house example i have
Sooo im looking at what is mostly dynasty wood, ash wood, smooth sandstone pillars, and a mix of yellow stucco and sandstone slabs used for walls and background
Noted
I don't recognise anything else minus the vegetation
This is really neat
i don't use sandstone slab at all here
it also doesn't have a wall
you are thinking of sandstone brick
Uhh yeah, that's probably it
Sorry for the stupidiest question ever, how do you place a fishing crate?
like you place a block
instead of opening it in inventory
thas all
some are good for decor, others not
Although im more curious of the block under the block holding the door to the left, people always use it to make castles with textured walls and i consistently fail to recognise it
palladium column painted orange is what you are looking at probably
Oasis/Mirage certainly are, especially now that I'm focusing on desert/ancient egyptian decor.
Palladium columns!?
No way, they don't connect to blocks like that, do they??
this is actually a slightly outdated pic of the house as some stuff isn't textured entirely like the wood or the left sandstone brick walls but
this is kind of how palladium column is known
indented into the wall
I am in utter shock
Okay, NOW i have incentive to rush hardmode and world cleansing
I thought they behaved like all the other beams, this is completely alien to me
every solid block used in this build is:
- sandstone brick
- yellow stucco
- palladium column (orange paint)
- smooth sandstone
- ash wood (brown paint)
- dynasty wood (brown paint)
- sand
- hardened sand
- leaf (deep teal)
- mahogany leaf (deep teal)
no, it is a solid tile & existed before most of the "beams" & "columns" did
wow...
I really should be sniffing around the wiki for block shouldn't i
there is plenty good gems on the wiki that most people don't use yes
it just varies on what you want to make though
Dynasty wood is just awesome man..
Literally anything that looks good/up to par with the impressive small builds people post here
as for walls
- sandstone brick
- yellow stucco
- ash wood (brown)
- large bamboo (brown)
- living leaf (deep teal)
- jungle (deep teal)
- flesh block wall (deep teal)
- green stained glass
- sandstone
- hardened sand
- palladium column (orange)
one of the best woods yes, i would rank it quite highly
mostly good in wood mixes
namely with blocks like ash wood, large bamboo & shadewood
It even looks good with boreal
boreal is alright, one of my lesser used woods
I personally love boreal
https://imgur.com/a/178AgkE
my first building in good while (still in progress)
Hell yeah
npc castle
... I'm curious about your mobile setup.
😅what wrong with it?
Nothing! I was intrigued by it!
Lol I wanted to know more about it... Which buttons you have on the right side.
How you use them and how does it help.
Oh
Well I assume your mostly curious about the hand and weapon button thing
I don't even know the name
I have a radial on the left side that combines the potions as 1-3, and because I hate empty spaces, the 4 is rapid rotation of equipment loudouts.
what does it change for that
For example the new feature which you can "place" critters
You can either set them free or place them to stay there
Makes it a lot easier than accidentally releasing them...
Or interacting with other nearby... Objects.
Yea I guess
I mean I've never played on a PC Soo not that familiar with that
Does having jump on the right side make a difference?
Sorry, that should have went to Iliya...
Does having jump on the right side make difference?
Wdym
I notice you have jump for the controls and as a separate button, that's why I'm asking lol.
To use it as a separate button
Ahh.
Sometimes I use the pad too
Mostly button tho
I just like to get different input, see what works lol.
I have a "Camera" mode.... It has a jump button on the right side, and only the direction button on the left.
Agreed.
That's interesting 😅
I wish mobile had an item that froze the game and faded out the health and mana bars, and everything else in the screen shot.
I agree
I messaged Loki waaaaay back in the day about it... He said it was a feature that was mildly requested, but they haven't been able to get around to it...
Even something that just froze everything and counted down, I'd settle for lol.
But, until then lol, screenshot of the way to go.
I'm alright with screenshots tbh
I wish we had a way to show huge buildings in one picture tho
Yeah, that would be nice...
I can only show off the entrance for buildings, like this.
And it makes everything look... So cluttered.
Added some final touches and took a pic in better lighting
Is that PC lol?
And it looks amazing!
https://imgur.com/a/iLRsVL6
This works too🫠
Don't even ask why half my world is empty
Lol you can't properly appreciate builds from outer space!
It is what it is brother😅
What kind of fruit is that on the tree?
Steamdeck but yeah :3
Giant blueberry tree lol
Is that a colleseum?
It's my arena
Which I don't even use
Do the berries glow at night?
no but they're made with pumpkin blocks
I mean, to be fair, nowadays, they don't use the colleseum in Rome either lol...
Evens out I guess😅
Do you have anything that lights up the tree and area at night?
I mean Im done with farming bosses so no need for an arena anymore
nah it's dark at night like any other tree
Illuminant paint?
I mean, yeah, that's my go-to before the update...
Why before
But I see you've placed down kites and such...
Lol I'm tempted to use fireflies...
I'm just not sure if it would look terrible during the day.
Fireflies or lightning bugs...
For jars, it looks like those two (firefly and lightning bug), and souls in jars cannot be toggled by wire.
U mean the new jars?
But even stars in bottles lol... You have the Chinese lantern that lights up?
Have you ever used these before?
Have you ever used these?
No actually
I know that the star in a bottle can be hung... I don't think that the bugs can be though.
They would actually really fit here I guess
https://imgur.com/a/caywRpR
Man I need to kill wof but I don't wanna deal with hardmode enemies whilst building augh
But like I said, now that you can place the critters down, you can try that.
That's fair enough.
I think lightning bugs would look great...
Yea
Definitely star in bottles on the front porch lol.
I'll try
@mellow field, @blazing comet, this is for my slime village in the clouds.... I'm tacky with using every color lol...
I've tried so many times to get the tree to look natural...
It doesn't lol.
I've never tried making a tree
I felt like the slimes needed one lol.
I have other people there, but that's temporary.
i need ideas for the interior of this build
it is really lacking
im fine with the right being empty
How you made tge part with the kite?
You need to furniture spam
You can place kites down now
Ohhh coool
Thx
im aware, idk how to do good furniture spam :(
i wouldn't quite encourage just "furniture spam", i'd rather encourage placing furniture with a purpose
like if you have specific rooms for specific things, easy to break it down that way

"ok these kinds of furniture pieces work well in a bedroom, this in a kitchen, etc"
i kinda tried that there
that is usually my thought process
there is some pretty universal furniture pieces such as potted plants which can work great just about anywhere but
a lot of the furniture in the game is all about purpose
there is an upstairs bedroom and a downstairs dining room
i feel like i did really good with this build on furniture
use librarian walls and platforms for space effeccient bookshelves you can further customize
trust
ignore 1.4.5 bar sprite being bad
also this one was good imo
idk, im just blanking on furniture for that build
make platforms and stick random shit on them
planter boxes, angler decos (ship in a bottle my beloved), terrariums, books, candles etc etc
mmmm
#terraria-creations message
something something here's my own
i will admit, i dont really use plaforms for furniture yet, gotta get into that habit
i def need lights in the housing portion too
lighting i usually focus on 2 specific factors;
- am i going for a specific atmosphere? if so focus lighting with similar colour
- am i just building a specific style like medieval? use appropriate pieces
there's also this, one of my better builds
medieval builds in particular i use a lot of lanterns for example
dungeon lanterns are fantastic pieces
carriage lanterns
so true
carriage lanterns and cage lanterns are goated
brass is also good
one such example
diabolist lamp & brass are my main two highlights from the dungeon, oil rag sconce is good too
i do kinda wanna decorate the right tower but theres not much good space
paladin banner spotted
alchemy lanterns can be good under right circumstance; but chain lantern is just a worse steampunk lantern design wise imo
a lot is taken up by other actuated blocks
banners are some of the best decoration items available
dungeon in particular has the most good banners from an enemy roster
agreed
i wish we had more 2 block wide ones like ooa's
i will comment that my builds have changed a bit since these pics bcs of the dungeon banner resprites but
overall not a major difference
besides diabolic sigil which is much lighter now actually
that one is a resprite i am mixed on
i felt that would be the most controversial resprite in the update yea
personally indifferent as i don't use it much at all but
i see why it is controversial
if they connected it would be really nice
& know it is a very popular piece from like 1.3 building styles & such
wat dis
i made the bar connect in photoshop
loox good, wish it did that in game
you can so similar in tedit
not as good of a result imo
brown painted crimtane dresser is a decent option now i guess too
Is it inhabited by any NPCs?
not yet, i still havent built it in an actual world
itll be in the forest biome
I would say, Gothic furniture...
preferably like mech and party girl?
And if you have echo paint, use that.
It's really, really old and crumbling... Are you adding or building on to it?
there is palladium columns so i have echo
i wanted the left side to be like a fixed up version of the castle
Perfect.
you can kinda see it with the well, i placed the pile of the old well to the side
?/10
kinda wanna add more of that probably
But inside the broken down part, I would either use Gothic, or some kind of metallic type of furniture.
idk about the inside, theres a lot of actuated blocks so adding furniture is limited
The right side, you could use crafting stations...
And for the well... Did you not want to use the rubble maker?
i lowk forgot about that
Wow... Didn't think that would be that huge.
I thought the broken chandelier would be a nice touch.
... I love how clicking on the picture instantly shrinks it.
i dont really rate builds, i really like it tho, could maybe use some more deco in the houses aside from a table and chair and some banners
could also play around with different lighting blocks
that preview is pretty small for me
once i finish chainsaw man reze ill actually get to building stuff...
still and hour left 😭
If you wanted a bigger well Sour...
You could use the stone bed.
It's bigger, no actuating...
i have more control over the well with how it is because i can actually hammer it
i made it look broken on the outside, though that would mean i need to remove the stone rubble and just leave the roof rubble instead
because they didnt really touch the actual well
Then it's fine how it is.
https://imgur.com/a/7xfzoBG
The staircase looks so cuuute omg
Anyone willing to see my terraria build? I need some tips since I haven't played in a veryy long time.. 🥺
dm me the image i'll post it here so more people can see it
@whole rampart
no response...
Happens..
Ty very much!
I love the spiral staircase
solid, i'd try more stone brick/slab instead of stone, and more of an actual roof (the one everyone and their mothers uses made with meteor walls/crimstone brick walls and shingles from travelling mechant)
the colour palette is solid, and try using living wood walls made at a living loom (usually found inside giant trees) for horizontal beams
there's also living leaf walls which are always nice to look at for extra greenery
I was using horizontal beams (living wood) at first trying to make a frame but I saw some other blocks being used in the reference images. So I thought Boreal was the one being used. I wanted those big roofs that are somewhat flat since I got inspired to do that after looking at some reference images. Plus 1 more thing to note is that I am pretty much still in the early game. I haven't fully explored and see my possibilities with blocks/decorations.
ahhhh, i see.
most horizontal beams use regular wood, painted mahogany wood or palm
i use boreal for horizontal as well
it works well, too
although a little too smooth sometimes
i dont really like boreal wood most of the time
in large quantities it looks bad imo
mostly because of the really hard lines in it
Like painting
I do not have that yet
id get that quickly
So I am using the resources what I have and what I like in the end.
its not hard to get
Quick question, is dynasty wood only obtained after hard mode?
the painter moves in when you have 7 housed NPCs if i recall correctly, not too hard
only 7 npcs (8 if skeletron is defeated)
nope, random sell from travelling merchant
same for both colours of shingles
Is there a certain order that npcs spawn is it random?
I do know that it comes from the merchant
But I was wondering if it was a post hard mode thing
what the fuck
neither can be assigned housing
what is this
unsure, i think theres an order in modded but idk
and even then i dont know the order anyway
wiki doesnt state theres an order to it
random and conditions met dependant
i.e: demolitionist tries moving in once you have explosives, or the arms dealer once you have ammo/a gun in your inventory, or the nurse moving in after you use a life crystal
etc.
i assume old man because youll just get clothier anyway, might not restrict it to post skeletron
but idk why travelling merchant
also skeleton merchant doesnt count
Clothier.. the single most useless npc in the entire game
he uhh
resummons skeletron
sells familar set
W vanity
you're aware clotheir gives you wings in prehm, yes? (granted, they don't work but you can shove souls of flight in em' and you got doctor strange's cloak of levitation)
Wings?
Wait I actually didn't know
?
My knowledge is so terribly low in this game
sit on chippy's couch next to your clothier for a surprise
Oh oh that one
Well that I know
But still
i dont think thats available phm
It's really not useful imo
Painter has no requirements?
the wings are good
just 8 other npcs*
it is
the wings are inactive and don't actually let you fly until you craft the active version with souls of flight
nvm
As far as I remember wyverns are post hardmode
he does #terraria-creations message
i see, i havent played much 1.4.5 really
Also if you guys were talking about my build, I might've missed some stuff
spent most of my time building
wow
we mostly veered off topic to paint, then how the clothier is useless (he's not)
overall for someone who's just started (i'm assuming) your build is very good
U eventually need other npcs
I guess I learnd that from minecraft 🥺
the eye for builds does somewhat translate across games
except glass in terraria doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out god i fucking hate how mojang are handling glass
havent played minecraft in so long
wasnt planning on it
good
if i want to have a 3d building game i have tiny glade
I love both
#creative message
still have a ways to go in both games
I want tiny glade so badly as well
Ever since I saw it
also there was also a other game
that was also like that
#creative message
yavor is so good at building FUCK
100%
i havent heard terraria players hate minecraft until now
same
Minecraft and Terraria has been buddies from what I know. (Not community based)
i don't particularly hate it
i just don't like how microsoft handles their studios
i hate corporate greed sucking the soul out of everything nice
Both have to be respected imo
They both serve a big role in the gaming industry and our free time😅
there's no reason to hate on eachother
Although... MINECRAFT SUCKS SHDNENENDHHSM
im really happy that relogic hasnt sold terraria to a soulless corporation
agreed
Yeah agree too
even dr studios isnt too big which is good
anyway, i'mma hop off
gbai
I love how u said that xD
Have fun, take care! Thanks for the help earlier today!
u got robbed with ur gif D:
Farewell
don't mention it, just being the change i wanna see.
keep forgtting gifs aren't allowed here specifically
but reaction images are perfectly safe >:)
anyway cya
Also what level do u need to be for images?
You need to receive, manually, the Terrarian role. Check #terrarian-role-info for info.
alr ty
700-1000
is alot
i got mine in like a day or 2
But you can enjoy your experience here through only text, can't you?
chatting in more active chats helps a lot with getting the role
Also people in here seems to be cool and all.
it's more of mutual respect
both games have influence on each other, and subtle nods to each other via splash texts
the Wither wouldnt exist if it werent for Notch taking inspiration from Terraria's summoning mechanics
That's what I meant with buddies.
Oh really?
I did not know that
iirc jeb confirmed it on an old tweet
if you were in Notch's shoes and a multinational corporation approached you to buy your incomplete voxel sandbox game for $2 billion, who wouldnt take it?
guy bought himself an early retirement
i actively dislike notch
So true
I wont be surprised if it's because of his tweets
yeah
i fixed up the deco in the build but i need some good lighting to put downstairs
im really stuck on that
nvm i got it
Are any world files of rulicks builds out there?
I remember having one years back, it was a portal hub he made
maybe it was linked in his youtube video about it? Im not sure how I got it
(I dont have it anymore, otherwise I could send it probably)
thats a name I havent heard in years
I remember copying his Asian style builds years ago
He had some crazy stuff
Hello! I'm trying to build a house in a way that the design looks "sideways" but I'm having trouble with the roof. Any advice? Image for reference https://imgur.com/a/v4WK6pa
Perfect! thank you!
np
the gaps are walls yes
if you want something more in-depth: https://youtu.be/2NbH6XVkk6o?si=2HtMNWpPznOQMI1A
Hey guys! In this video, I'll show you how to turn a plain wooden square "NPC Box" into a nice and quant little country style cottage using materials easily-obtained in the very-early stages of the game (before fighting any bosses.) I hope you enjoy it and I hope this helps some people out there!
▶My Social Media:
TWITTE...
Thanks, I got some inspiration now
ah FuryForge, before Khaios, there was him
1.3 hein era
remember to experiment with different blocks, walls, and furniture, dont limit yourself to just 1 set
*if you're curious enough, try also paint
the days when you can just cheese the moon lord with a ceiling
I think when I started to play, Hero's video about all mechs + dungeon guardian video JUST came out
dang
I miss him
And when Ymir was still around...
I miss that one greatly, I still primarily build in master mode, even now I still rely on my duped stockpile of building materials from 1.3.5
to think an entire generation of players will never know his legacy, his contribution to the game as one of the earliest beta testers
wasnt that 9-10 yrs ago?
😉
Hmm
What’s that
Hey yall, if there's any expert builders in here I could use a hand figuring out a part of one of my builds
I can't upload photos here so I'll have to dm it though
any1 got any ideas on how i could replace my trapdoor to my mob farm so that conveyors can push mimics and nymphs all the way into the lava? i dont feel like relocating the whole build just to struggle to get in https://imgur.com/a/cAOGiyf
not very pretty on the eyes (yet) but its functional (mostly)
a pylon setup wouldnt really do it for me bc i dont have demonite/crimtane for a black candle yet
Remove the trapdoor, make an entrance at the side of the farm below the spawning platform from outside then fly/rope your way into the area below the lava
Also you should make the ramps into the lava 1 block higher
why 1 block higher?
nothing is jumping out
Things will jump out in the future
Will be alot more annoying to fix later
do background walls like not prevent mob spawns or somethin?
i swear i used 3 different walls yet those mfs still spawning
any suggestions on how to make this house look better? https://imgur.com/a/dBoWR9O
PLANNING TO MAKE MY PLANTS HOUSE INSIDE THIS HILL
Tell me some suggestions to add to this abomination.
Supposed to be like a workshop for these 2 bums and maybe the debt collector in the workshop area
Ignore the crystal
😪
any ideas to make the roof look better?
https://imgur.com/a/zWAp8Lr
What is the reference or what did you want to achieve with this build?
I explicitly made this without a plan
a strange blend between victorian architecture and inspired by glass domes eg on the Waverley Station Dome
I was thinking about that dome indeed, using glass (colored would add an interesting nuance if it fits with the whole build) would be more interesting than Office Blocks (they are too prone to being orthogonal, especially with the very clear line they have near their edges).
If you go for a colored glass dome, you could match the color of the roofing (a darker tone of the same hue). With transparent glass, you could go with any color, as long as it is discrete.
And you can always break the norm and experiment with whatever you feel like.
My pallete is very limited at this stage of my playthrough, but thanks!
Also I fixed my little window
Do you have access to Painter yet?
glass walls don't play nice 😠
yes
Can I make glass walls look like stained glass by painting?
try to add a roof and maybe make it look less boxy
I mean there's stained glass alrdy
Can i do a mini artificial biome of crystal?
Crystal shards grow on pearlstone even without the biome
https://imgur.com/a/k0cjxVG should i just stick to it being mostly bone? or should i go with what i orignally planned to do (add some flesh blocks and probaly when its done add a wound and maybe a weapon)
https://imgur.com/a/xYHLfRe this is what the head looks like ingame, i was thinking of adding a bit more to the lower jaw bone since it looks a bit flat
You can make stained glass out gems for extra texture and no need for the painter
Still, i would recommend getting him as in a graveyard, he sells echo coating
Echo coating turns whatever it coats invisible, as if it wasn't there, but it still is. This can pet you make large gaps in walls all let in small air gaps in straight lines on glass to simulate a frame without actually messing with housing
Building whatever came to my mind at the time.
I agree about the jaw part, but as for the skin/flesh hanging off the skeleton it heavily depends on what you're going to use the build for or what the desired atmosphere of the build is
If you want it to look more grotesque or rotten, yes. Otherwise no skin or flesh simulates a hollow feel imo
the idea was basically dead snake god corpse turned into livable house by people after it was slain, but since its a divine beast its rotting incredibly slowly or something of that manner
https://imgur.com/a/voCFdMd
I feel like the middle island looks terrible.. any idea how to improve it?
I see
Then probably having exclusively skin that has over time turned to durable leather which the people used for their homes could be a very neat look
its probably thr stone blocks
they dont fit there
What should I use?
Cause you know the ground itself is also just stone blocks and I also added stone bricks
So if I change those it wouldn't fit the the ground
thats actaully genius thank you im definitely gonna do somethin with that
it works for the ground because it blends in
but the floating island doesnt work with it
Okay well then what should I use?
They looks pretty much like aetherium blocks
try
Alright.
WIP build using Astral Pylon from Calamity mod
Wip any advice??
Walls - need beams (painted ebonwood, large bamboo, living wood walls or actuated blocks works for this), could use extra wall decor/windows/platforms as shelves with stuff on them
Add chain/rope to hellevator
thank you sir
Also unless you don't need the space, consider not using regular wood beams for their intended purpose since they take up space that could be used for blocks and obstruct background walls
For instance if you wanted, you could make a spiral staircase with living wood wall as the pole with a window behind it, instead of a ladder with wood beams
That's a pretty big spiral staircase, 5 blocks wide is all you need for a decent looking one
welp thats an old world lol i started fresh
when Christian monks were not transcribing scripture, they experimented many wines and cheeses we still have today
i cant make a spiral staircase suddenly
Err...
3 platforms in the middle
3 1 block left/right
2 platforms off the beam
1 platform
Skip block
1 platform on opposite side, then 2, then 3 with 3rd covering the beam
Then 3 in the middle again
Rinse repeat
Yeah, good enough
You can ditch the platforms at the top you can't stand on
can i make this look better
Not by much
Roof could use a touch up but that's pretty much it
what type of wood and stone is this in the middle platform?
i dont understand
below your guide the area what type of wood and stone
living wood and stone slab
thanks!
I can't see shit
But it looks better i think
HAHAAHAH
i like the windows
my best build
are the bricks just gray bricks but with a resource pack
nice beach house
thank you
Yes
Same for the chests
nope its stone slabs
oh yea
yo how do you guys build something like this wanna have this kind of stuff too for my pylons lmao
yes its bricks mb
Experiment with blocks and paint
lowk ust search up pylon builds terraria then just smash up a bunch of builds you like to make ur own
i dont even have a hang what kinda blocks there are tbh lol
at least thats what i did
trees
That's why you explore
And experiment with paint i love paint i will eat crayons to get more paint
#terraria-creations message
thank you
im getting far with this tree
Too thick unless you intend to make it huge
truth
real when i realized paint exists when i started trying to build and stop with the shoe boxes it was a life changer
Also mix living wood with living mahog
i knew that but didnt wanna realize it
im just making like an outline rn
i wanna try to make a willow tree but not just steal yavors tree (NOT MY BUILD)
I love how they made paint interact with the new item flasks
#terraria-creations message
I will gladly ear crayons and drink paint if it meant i got more
how th is this possible
Then take inspiration
Make it bent
Squeeze the leaves at the top so its less ball like
Uneven branches
Etc.
Mix of echo paint, rubblemaker, background walls and paint
A lot of paint
That's a tiny one
Look up old natural ones
my current base rn looks alot like my past world beach build and im uncomfy how do i change up the roof
holy moly
yeah im dumb
Willow trees are 20% wood and 80% mop of leaves
Make it flat
Not green
And try copying one of the thousands of popular builds using the same fucking roof blueprint
why i like them they look good when finished
am i crazy? why are these like 2 different colors
I get why the blueprint is popular, for a base it's practical as it still allows more room for potential storage/NPC housing
I love doing interiors!!!!!!!!!!
Im not very good at it, but i like it
both are painted brown
real the feeling when it all just comes together is so good
Same colour, different orientation
you guys should see my main base, it goes against convention because it's just a big monolith tower
show us
i cant see the difference
made it a lot thinner
I wanna give whoever made librarian walls a b*owjob holy shit
Best interior deco piece by a landslide
bro what
librarian set cannot be THAT good
Its that good
Imagine bookshelves that don't take up block space, a workbench that's just a big book open and blocks that are just books
books but they emit light
Evil creature of malice and hatred spreading false propaganda that books are bad
listen to podcasts on kick
better than reading
More propaganda? No thank you
i was planning to use shingles but travelling merchant aint selling me them yet
adan ross will find the cure to cancer
speaking of pylon builds though
LISTEN to me
a tree isnt looking horrible for me yet
how did u get that effect on the tower
it looks like a person
which effect
i can see like legs but not a person
I hate when mobile doesn't have camera mode 😔
what floaty thing
yes
oh
i gave it a waist
Mix in living wooog
its still the layout chill
And maybe brown painted ebonwood
let me add leaves
Rgaaahhhhhhhh
Oh fuck i gotta vomit gimmie a sec
is my building that bad
snatched now
I've been jumping from being bed bound to vomiting out breakfast because i ate something bad
Iunno what
Anyone have a tavern/inn I can take inspo from?
ugh new bar sprites
mmmm, new cloud sprite as snow
A smidge better than what they used to be imo, but those still had a place
@wise bane https://imgur.com/a/47nIpaA
I think it's better now
i was gonna ask if any of you had ideas on what the leaves should roughly look like but i think the background knows
This might not be that relatable but I think adding a small slope shape towards the end of the roof would look good :>
like a downward slope?
Upwards
so like this?
Yes!
looks good to me
guys im about to do a roof change because i dont like it
what a good 2 block combo for a roof
whats
how do u do this
@young bridge
help anyoneee
then how is there no light groing through
light IS going through
here
Mix of bricks and actuated bricks
Specifically, red bricks and iridescent brick
With a row of alternating walls at the bottom
Hey guys how do I build that spiral staircase everyone uses?
Make a strip of any wall
Put walls beside it, should look like a 1 block thick pillar
Then, start with platforms on this pattern:
3 platforms, center on the "pillar"
Do the same one layer higher but shift the row to either side
Layer above that is 2 platforms off the pillar on the same side
Then one adjacent to the pillar
Next layer has nothing
Layer after that has the listed pattern but in the inverted order, by that i mean
1 platform adjacent to pillar, 2 platforms adjacent but off pillar
3, side platform on pillar
3 middle platform on pillar
Rinse, repeat
I hope this is understandable enough/makes sense
Check DMs rq
https://imgur.com/a/F4btw7R
Oookay, do y'all think that the houses are okay?
I might also add more spikes on the sides of the cave too
Nice roofs you got
Oh thanks! I was actually most worried for the roofs
ok just finished the roof
what do u guys think
Damn looks good :>
Much better
Nice
does copper corode?
whoops did not mean to ping you sorry
VERY WIP
i can see the vision kinda it looks good might take inspo
Hey guys, are there any textureless blocks that are straight blue?
And also white ones
paint maybe
What block is textureless
Sapphire gemspark
But it has texture
It’s as close as you’re gonna get far as I know
Im going to use slime blocks, it’s closer
guys ive build a jungle base ontop of a pond how can i avoid bats flying into my base through the platforms while fishing ...
blobk it
it's definitely one of the sandstones
looks like ebonsandstone
if not ebonsandstone, crimsandstone
actually yeah prolly crim
darker
looks like deep lime too
hmm, ok
first half of skyblock island as of pre painter and mechanic
yes i'll do a lot more on the spawn point but i really want actuators and paint for it
the candle collection is strictly the obviously animated ones
featuring blacksmith cat
i need ideas for the other side, which is mostly housing, but i'll start with a small hill so i can put my crimson altar underground
Anyone know any blocks that have a sort of leather-y texture to it?
