pre hm has ALOT of options tbh, generally for stone structures you cant go wrong with a bunch of bricks painted gray (mostly ebonstone or crimstone depending on what evil you got, add regular gray bricks and some other bricks of choice for a crisp palette) for the wood part, ashwood, large bamboo and or mahogany are great for general frames

hey, ive never really used paint before, this is my first time. I am using 2 different blocks, and a different paint color for both. can i assign the colors, like "only use this color with this block, and when i place the other block, use the other color"?

ive been just throwing the other color out of my inventory, its annoying cause i have so swap back and forth so frequently

the paint used is whichever is first in line (left -> right) & which row is first (up -> down)

I recommend you also start exploring palettes as blocks have different tones even if the color of paint used on them is the same

It took me a long while to get used to building with paint

the larger however the harder as that detail will also have to be scaled

also there's such thing as negative space in architecture, too much detail and it will draw too much focus away for the eyes

Are wood and stone really a hard palette to find?

Stone has a ton of variation in what it can be used for and how many blocks it can make, + grey paint, and paint anything brown and suddenly you have another wood type to work with

like any meta to get them

For normal ones, just wander around with battle potions and water candles

For crimson and corruption mimics, use key of night on a chest

For hallowed, same thing but with key of night
