If anything, warhammer’s setting leads to some of the most human, heartfelt characters and writing ive ever gotten to enjoy. It’s about suffering and what you do with it. That has already happened several times from inside terraria’s own community. Stardews community is also famously toxic towards views and opinions outside of their own. Companies make stands against small instances of bad behavior to set a precedent that that kind of thing is unwelcome, not to address some large underbelly of people. Its preventative measure. The message isnt to admonish a large part of the fanbase, it is to ensure the fanbase that they are vehemently against such behavior in the rare occurrence it happens. Nothing more.
