Stockholm (Formally DreamHack Winter) was usually on back to back weekends. We would do ATL -> 1 day at home -> Hop on a flight to Stockholm.

But the ATL date has moved around a lot. ATL used to be the weekend before Thanksgiving and DHW was the weekend of thanksgiving

DreamHack Dallas would happen -> a few days at home -> On a plane to Stockholm to catch the train to Jonkoping for DreamHack Summer

The first time I did DHS I was in Dallas on June 2nd and in Copenhagen on June 12th

I've only been to the Atlanta event once, in 2022. Stayed at the Hyatt Place. Never once felt unsafe walking from the BYOC to the hotel. Even at 3am.

The BYOC area itself is typically the only area that's open 24 hours. The rest of the venue is closed off overnight, so there's generally no access to the arcade/pinball machines outside of the standard running time

In previous years, it's been like 90% fighting games in the arcade area

There's been a really nice Japanese Ikaruga cabinet there the past couple of years, which will hopefully be there again this year. I'm hoping to see more beat em ups and other non 1-on-1 fighting games in the selection

This defintely hasn't been common problem. It is also recommended you pick up your bag on day 1 as the overstock is available in the store.
You will not get your item shipped but you are available for a partial refund if your size is not there on that 1 specific item or items

There is plenty of good food within 3 miles. If you focus on the large square from 14th street to 7th street (north to south) and W Peachtree St. to Juniper (west to east) you will find good restaurants with almost any kind of cuisine. Walkable, yes, but more likely a rideshare or motorized scooter ride away. There is one good asian cuisine place, that I personally know of, called Pacific Rim Bistro in Truist Plaza about a mile away.

There is a Free Play area that hosts tournaments. You typically cant host your own tournaments there.

As Shadow said, you can ask around within the BYOC and ask the admins to announce your tournament and pass around the bracket sign up link but they wont do anything else to help facilitate it (usually).

Typically the festival kicks off at 10 AM Friday, but I usually would recommend people to aim to be there in the afternoon so you can go ahead and check in to your hotel/AirBnB first to drop off your stuff if you're not checking in on Thursday. As far as Sunday goes, it just depends on how late the finals of certain tournaments go. The festival ends at 6 officially. I usually tell people to leave Monday to avoid all of the hassle of leaving on Sunday.

I cant answer that specifically but if I were to guess, this tournament is specifically being hosted by a certain entity and the BYOC is put on by another. Registration, payouts etc all matter when you have this size of tournament.

They can allow knockout participants use the BYOC area and play in the BYOC after but cant allow BYOC users who only buy BYOC play in the knockout due to size of tournament and other limitations (my best guess. Not an official response)

All are within walking distance to GWCC or a very short Uber ride if you don’t have a car. MARTA would work too, but probably not much quicker since you’d have to walk the opposite way to get to Peachtree Center and then have to change trains after one stop at Five Points. Walking to Five Points is kind of the opposite way too and then you’d get off after only one or two stops.

Red vs Orange and Green vs Blue don't really matter to you since those only branch at the end of the West, East, and North part of the map, everything in the middle all goes to the same places.

To get to your hotel (if you go with Holiday Inn Downtown) from the airport, you'd get on any MARTA train at the airport (it only goes north from the Airport). Get off at Peachtree Center, and walk about 2-3 blocks to your hotel. It's probably a 20-30min train ride from the airport to Peachtree Center. Straight shot, no changing trains or lines.

Atlanta has always been the same price. I’ve been going for the last 3 years and it’s been on Groupon every year.

This year especially feels like it’s the biggest it’s ever been. There are so many different tournaments and things going on. Impressed with the diversity of events too.
