I have a question, so since Rude level editor is in Unity does making original stuff like how some custom levels does with enemies and other stuff, require coding? Because if it does then that is really bad for me.

you do not need to know anything about coding. scripts that are included in the game are enough. it is very graphical as well, but you will have to get used to it if you have no unity experience.

this is the first thing that happens related to the angry level loader, then after that the repeated error i mentioned starts
depends. you can get away with some customization by editing enemies on unity, or maybe making your own animations. but extreme conditions require you to actually write a custom script.

i was curious so i looked at the decompilation on thunderstore, it seems like this mod is checking all loaded objects in the current scene every frame. there is also apparently an "optimize" plugin config option that just changes it to once every 7 frames instead lol

i have had the simple idea of making a room with a portal. it is 4 hours later. unity has required me to reinstall its modeling software (its recent updates make it so buggy its unusable), create a license, wait over an hour to generate a SINGLE project, bluescreened my pc twice, reset my progress, softlocked their own ui, and REMOVED EVERY PROJECT IN MY PROJECT LIST RANDOMLY.

or straight up uploaded and downloaded the level files from a google drive link
git is definitely more effective though use that if its something long term
you have to initialize your folder with the level files as a repository
which then lets you pull and push it to github for example
I recommend using github desktop its pretty simple to figure out

Yeah im pretty sure you wont be able to simply port a doom weapon into ultrakill. Only way that would be possible is if they both used unity and the same/similar version of unity, and if they had very similar code. Pretty sure none of those things are true. So to get a doom weapon in ultrakill a person would have to make and mod it into Ultrakill themselves (Essetially make/code the weapon themselves), or if someone's already done so install said mod.

i mean the whole point is that null materials and missing shader materials are unlit bright magenta to be noticable
magentas happen in ultrakill too with the infamous gabe magenta
so you might be confusing it with the masqdiv/straymode black weapons bug that happens on low-end pcs

my main mod I maintain is related to swapping textures/materials and shaders.
I've done a lot of testing of this.
but it's possible it's a weird side effect of my debugging system ig.
in my experience though
its shaders that are pink and mats that are black
though mats can do all kinds of wonky things depending on how exactly they break
I've seen them do bright red
pink black checkerboard. bright green
becoming Emissive and pulsing.
ultrakill is weird and I think it partially depends on what shader the mat assumes it should have before it went null

As for mods, mods can be manually downloaded from ultrakills thunderstore page, or done via r2Modman. I'd reccomend looking up youtube videos about this though to help you start.

Im not entirely sure, but make sure you have the most recent version of Angry Level Loader and make sure it is where its supposed to be in the files if you downloaded it manually.

Okay, so I want to develop my statistics tracker mod. I already have a functional backend but I want to get it perfect before working on the frontend. Currently all data is stored in the “ULTRASTATS” folder (unoriginal current working name, I know). I plan to add functionality that allows the user to choose the filepath for this folder, but currently I have been using:

I have no idea if this is actually a good place to put it, please let me know if I’m dumb and it should be put elsewhere.

Appdata is a good idea. That's where Angry levels are stored. The problem with having the data in the mod folder is that mod managers will delete it on update. Not to mention that data would be profile-exclusive

Damn, I was just working on a more compact data storage system, I shrank my cybergrind stats file from 6.1 kB to 2.4kB! Thats about 170B per run to just 64B. I basically just changed the ID system from hash based to sequential, swapped utc for Unix time, changed some variable types for more efficient ones, and shortened the json keys to only 1-2 chars. Campaign (and one day maybe custom) level runs store much more data than cybergrind so this will hopefully mean that filesize will never be an issue even for speedrunners putting in thousands of attempts.

No clue how on earth to do anything with a server involved. Maybe far future after a proper thunderstore release I'll play around with that. I also thought a good idea would be to read records from speedrun.com and plot that along with the user's stats, but Im getting ahead of myself a little there.
Honestly sometime soon I plan to give people in this discord a copy of the mod (just the statistic saving backend) so I can get run data from other people who play more than I/speedrun/whatever so when I work on the UI + plotting + statistical analysis, I have much better data that represents a wider userbase. Currently I just play custom levels, Fraud, and cybergrind, so my stats are not really representative of all ULTRAKILL players.

What with?
You see, before the fraud update, the game's FPS was fine, but after the update, my FPS got worse, and I don't know why.
The fraud update has that problem overall, its not something that is necesarilly your fault or fixable. Essentially the game is currently more privy to lag spikes that it used to be.
Is there any way to fix the lag spikes?
It would help me out a lot with developing this later if some people would download my mod and record their runs. I would like to do cool statistical analysis stuff in the final release, like standard deviation calculations, weighted averages, future performance predictions, etc. please consider helping me out!
Not to my knowledge, its a problem on the game side so there really isnt any real way to fix it, and the lag has to do with enemies as lowering blood and gore count, or lowering graphics overall does not help.
So unfortunately there really isnt a way to fix it.

In its current state all the mod does is record data of each run of a level/cybergrind attempt once it is over. So there is no harm having it record your stats in the background.
Though some time in the future it will likely be fixed as hotfixes have been in the works and the game will be developing. So it is likely that some time in the potentially distant future it will be fixed.

Literally 8-3 is a mess with a ton of lag
I have a lot of cool ideas for it, but I need cleaner data than I can make on my own. (not muddied with test runs made during development, or the way I specifically play ULTRAKILL). That's why I'm hoping a few people here will download its current version and have it record in the background so that when I do need clean data to test and experiment with, I have a few player's run data to work with. I want ULTRASTATS to be a great utility for players wanting to improve.
8-3 is a laggy level.
I would reccomend putting some settings in for turning it off and on, or thing relating to that like having an autmatically on or off when loading a new level or keep previous chosen setting option, Maybe an only have on in cybergrind option. Possibly a setting that when turned on would delete older data for people who cant afford the space.
I will be adding most of that later when I figure out how to utilize pluginconfig to configurate it. (Probably by Monday) Currently each run's data is like 64-80 Bytes so file size should not be an issue even with thousands of runs.
I probably will have a setting to delete old data, but in its current state it's not really necessary. Later versions might record more types of data though so it would be nice to have that for future proofing reasons.
I hope masquerade divinity gets updated soon. its getting boring by now

mod creators need to start listing their mods as depricted when they stop working but they dont
like the only mods that work are extremely basic text changes or cybergrind only

Also the icon is V1 with a lowercase sigma as an eye. (standard deviation is represented as a lowercase sigma) And I plan to something with stdev in later versions, like display how many stdevs your current run is from the mean on the players hud to let them know when they have an exceptional run. Stuff like that.
