Model swaps aren't that easy. It took me ages to figure out asset bundles lol. I mean, it's not hard at all in hindsight but there's a reason I used to do everything in my mods exclusively through code.

I've just seen a lot of other modders say it's on the easier end, so
I mean, it depends on the modder. I know some people started out making levels in Rude, so for them it's a lot easier to make mods that rely on custom assets more than code
i tried a model swap once and in my opinion it's way more difficult than code mods. but i'm not very good at 3d modeling to be fair
But for me, I had literally never used unity in my life. Had no idea about asset bundles or how to make them (I had to get a script for exporting bundles from a fellow modder). I also had to learn the hard way about, for example, texture filtering. And even then, my shaders were fucked and made things look wrong, and Draghtnim had to help me sort that out
like if you want to swap a model that has animations (which i assume most people usually do) then the new model has to have the exact same bone structure as the original one or else it won't animate correctly
Well, there's a dumb trick you can do
And it's something we found out Ultrakill is doing
So, you know how the feedbacker model changed with revamp?
The new model doesn't quite animate the same
Old animations don't work with the new model
And I guess they redid most of the animations

The fishing rod
They didn't remake the animation for the fishing rod
It still uses the old model for animation technically
The new one is just "pasted" on top if that makes any sense

Hey, barely ever talked in this discord but was just tweaking my control scheme and after getting annoyed with how often I lose track of which variant is forwards/backwards in my rotation, the idea popped into my head of having some kind of subtle visual indicator for where you currently are in the rotation.
So like if your order is Red>Blue>Green and you're on green, the HUD above or to the sides your weapon could show a blue bar to the left and a red bar to the right. Or maybe even something near the crosshair like with dash charges. Has anything like that been made?

Two other useful tools: unity explorer and rude level editor. Unity explorer lets you mess with the current scene while playing and see what's going on. Rude level editor is called a level editor, but you can use it to make asset bundles
since pretty much every other mod is already using bepinex

hi sorry if this is the wrong place to ask (I'm not quite sure where else... that's my fault though) For anyone used to working with Rude level editor, is there any advice you'd give to someone attempting to make their first level? i.e. should I treat this as if I'm making a game in unity and plan out things like storyboards, or is that excessive?
That and the obvious stuff like good balancing, secret/enemy placements... etc. I remember getting demotivated when I went in (somewhat) blind on my first attempt so I'm asking for a bit of help this time (even if I only get a little)

I've not made a level on angry (tried and got overwhelmed/posibly did something wrong), but I've seen how people have experienced it with it
planning out stuff doesn't seem far fetched, even I'd recomend it to use it as a baseline and a guide for the end result
usually, secrets are the last thing that you care about, it's quite silly how it "just works"
for enemy balance, try finding some sort of consistency along the level, ranging from the same all the way to getting harder or even easier as you go, with some leverage
for enemy placements, you could take inspiration from the base game levels (specially P-2 and violence) and the highly voted on Angry
now, if you want more help, keep asking here or in Spite and Envy's server, Duviz' server or the modding server

im not really too experienced in level creation but i think planning it cant really hurt
in the end itll probably end up making your level more structured (is that the right word) so you should go for it if you can

Hi yes, someone suggested me a mod i think It was called purgatory, and told me to look at the pins here, i'm new to discord and don't know what are pins and where are they, i Need help to install that mod

It's a custom level.
Where pins are depends on whether you're on mobile or desktop. On desktop it's somewhere in the top right corner. Near the search bar there should be a "pin" icon
On mobile, click on the top bar where the channel name and search icon are. There should be a "pins" tab
ive messed around a lot with rude and i had some loose ideas for some rooms but really i just started and did whatever. you should probably start with an idae of the level, the visual theme/aesthetic, difficulty, how long you want it to be, etc.
i didnt like write anything down i just remembered "this room is kinda like this or has this enemy" or whatever
and also you like probably gotta get used to the uv editor

The most i did with uv editor when starting out was change tiling values
and that was enough
i guess for simpler designs you wouldn't need to use the uv editor as much but i use it a lot

(I don't like the difficulty scaling on brutal and also i hate ||enoch|| (Envy climax spoiler) for many many reasons but i will elaborate if someone wants me to)
Rubicon is a cool one but isn't finished (two levels currently released)
Indulgence isn't finished but is already awesome
I could say that it is better than envy in some points (in my opinion)

Oh also there's a very annoying bug with unity's materials (inside the inspector and yes i know how the inspector works and that is NOT supposed to happen)
And the material inspector element freaks out when i export my level (to playtest) and uuuh
Vanished every elements except the little gray box with a preview of the material (very small one)
Puts it in a weird place in the inspector
And spams the console with errors when i have my inspector opened with any material element (on the painted objects and in the material "file" itself)
Oh yeah ||Enoch|| sucks but that's how it is with ||custom bosses in custom levels rn. It's extremely tough to make something good||

Hold on I wrote up about it in the purgatorio server
So I-1 is amazing. Great music, lovely map, and fun arenas.
But Craven as an enemy feels a bit jank to me in terms of countering.
The main thing is parrying it's projectile that I find difficult since unlike most enemy projectiles it isn't clear what I am seeing to parry, since it's projectile is dark and blends in, often getting drowned out by the more dark-light environment present in Indulgence.
The Hideous mass has a similar non-bright projectile but A) It has a clear telegraph [It's tail wiggle} and B) Can be dodged with some practice, and C) Is fucking massive on the field, making it viewable even from a ways away. The craven projectiles, due to not being very visible, make it hard to know when to dodge if I wasn't attempting to parry it and wanted to focus on another enemy first.Making it bright orange/yellow like other ranged projectiles would help it be easier to know when to parry it. Could also make the design pop with a red-hot scicle or whatever it is they throw to hook you in.
Also the cloaking thing doesn't come into play much from my experience but maybe it will be more prevelant in later levels.
Again amazing level just felt this thing about the enemy irked me enough to mention it.
Conceptually it's fine, but it could iron out the kinks
I learned the parry window after I made this post which I find funny, though it doesn't change my advocacy for the projectile clarity
Will concede Hideous Mass and Craven are made for differing purposes (HM's simply keeps you in place, Craven pulls you), but again, the points still feel applicable
The invisability I feel would be more engaging if it attempted to blend in near enemies then hookshot you to encourage proritizing it, though that may make it more like a hassle then a proper challenge
Hopefully the revamp will make that process easier
They should make a mod for the whiplash so that its like the titanfall 2 grapple

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how to play pre-revamp custom levels in ultrakill (like "Where the Streets Have No Name")? It seems like you're supposed to downpatch ultrakill to pre-revamp patch and launch it with AngryLevelLoader. I tried to downpatch ultrakill to 15d following this guide (https://youtu.be/9_Cp8WIhW1k) and I managed to get an executable that runs the right version, but when I try to launch it via r2modman, it launches the current (revamp) version, even if I set the folder to downpatched version in "Change ULTRAKILL folder" option in r2modman settings. I think it happens because r2modman launches ultrakill via steam instead of using my executable. I didn't find anything about this on the internet, so does anyone here know how to solve this problem?

F + T + M2 for fire arrow (cannot be damaged during startup, can cause burn damage to enemy and can 2 shot minos prime)
H is malevolent shrine but have to fill up a bar beneath the HUD thing
Fingers can be found throughout the layers of hell (15 only in 1 - 7 and the last 5 in fraud and treachery)
If you use malevolent shrine at 4 - 13fingers the range will be the size of clair de lune arena , 20 fingers will be an open domain the same size as the room in 4-3 or 4-4
And for world cutting slash
M1 + B + M2 (have to aim in 3 seconds)
Waffle slash
M1 + N + B + M2
0-6 five fingers will have the same damage as swordmachines shotgun but weaker
6-8 cerebus - earthmover defense instakill
10-15 can kill v2 (4-4) with a few dismantles
16-20 can kill flesh prison, panopticon, minos and sisyphus (with 2 world cutting slashes), gabriel

I dreamt that fraud released And apparently they added Jackenstein, but so they wouldn’t get copyrighted, they made him grey. There was also an enemy called the phaser which was this giant mouth with legs that phased into the ground and did not let you touch it, dodging all melee attacks. It could also go on walls and shoot a magenta laser (magenta attacks go through invincibility frames if you remember.) Music was decent, And the secret level was so hard to find we found size 2 fish faster than it (I sadly didn’t see size 2 nor the secret level)

unity, uses VanityReprised to generate Unity project and open it via UnityEditor
and made it inside editor
three waves featuring guttermen, guttertanks, hideous masses, and invincible mindflayers in a tiny platform where falling teleports you to the place everyone is aiming and kills you nearly instantly
this ending is not even remotely close to layer level, this is by every measure a prime sanctum
downpatch to previous version of ultrakill and angry, youll still need the file itself
imma be so fr if my experience with envy and fraudulence are anything to go by, playing custom levels is just not for me
not all of them are p-2 on steroids
these are designed for people who can P-rank sisyphus on brutal, and I just can't keep up

IMO, if you're playing custom levels play one difficulty level under what you're used to playing on
If your comfortable on brutal, play violent. If you're chilling on standard, do lenient.
That's just how it is with most custom levels. They're usually made by players who have put in a ton of hours into the game. Honestly, I recommend coming back after beating P-2 and the encores. You will improve along the way for sure

And for at least one animation, the old feedbacker animation is still used, with the new one just copying the movements

cant remember for sure but one of the tricks used in a bunch of custom levels is offsetting vertices by height on an edgelooped cube
a bit tedious but it works fine if you don't have a big area to fill

Make sure the mod was updated less than a year ago, if it wasn't then it's most likely out of date

Alrighty so i tried to use Masquerade Divinity and it literally will not work
I downloaded and launched from Thunderstore with the extra things that are required for the mod and i activated it. I got to 0-1 then i didnt have a sword. Restarted mission multiple times, deleted slot M save multiple times, deleted everything and reinstalled, nothing works. I still load in without a sword or gun or anything.
Im using windows 11 (updates are caught up) and an xbox controller.

I went onto Thunderstore, selected ultrakill and downloaded the mod. It automatically download the dependencies then i launched modded ultrakill from there.
