because unity's high definition render pipeline makes it look just gorgeous

im assuming gamemaker studio is generally simpler
just go with the hard stuff off the bat

unity is friendly tutorial wise but they change so much stuff every year
it's best to stick with an LTS version
I can confirm this, we recently moved our game project from normal unity to that one
and it looks next gen now lmao
In my experience, familiarize yourself with c# with visual studio code or go straight to unity and use it, or go with unreal and do blueprints to get a more visual understanding of the code

In my case, I just had the random spread be set by Random.Range(-spreadAmount, spreadAmount)
And then I added that float to all three values of my Vector3 raycast (I think in your case, you would put it in "toffset")

Each Cup is like an individual tournament that has multiple races inside it. The more difficult races are in the higher tier Cups.
In this case, the DUSK Cup is a collection of tracks that do not necessarily have to be related to DUSK; but are instead together because Plazmin decided they are all of roughly equal difficulty.
And since DUSK Cup is the first(?) one that Plaz is working on; I am logically assuming these will be the easiest of tracks to race on.

making a couple of changes to the first dusk level
for one: i removed the pond and made the track go around where it used to be
2: there is no longer a huge steep hole in the first part of the track
it was hard to accelerate out of it
so I just flattened it
and 3: you've probably also noticed the level looks more desaturated

Oh that's why. OnCollisionEnter won't be called if the object is a trigger. You'd have to call OnTriggerEnter
it doesnt even work after making it a normal collider

Other thoughts would be to make sure that the physics layers for the player and bullet are able to collide with each other

I think this is as good as I'm going to get the custom chromatic aberration.
(High offset is for testing)
It looks okay on more regular values but there's some pretty noticeable dithering artefacts at points.
And I'm not sure if it's big enough of an improvement over regular UE4 chromatic aberration to justify using it.

Uhhhhhh, my custom implementation doesn't really hold up without TAA because it's only using three samples with dithering.

Hidden things on title screen/main menu that can be clicked on/interacted with to trigger funny things.
One example being some karts drifting through if you click on the word "kart"; another being some NB characters walk on screen and do the YMCA thing with their bodies to spell KART (if the player can find the secret trigger.)

You should take a look at Yannick Gombart's prop breakdowns on ArtStation, they have some really cool techniques I think you could implement to make these even stronger pieces.
some edge highlights/wear and cavity mapping, along with some beveled edges in the hipoly for the bake could be really cool.
I assume you use a hipoly to lowpoly bake workflow?
I tend not to take my time with BGs or post processing at all

I don't like working with high poly mesh's unless it's Retopo
you should look into Substance Painter/Designer and the hipoly to lowpoly workflow. It's quite important for game assets, even for hardsurface stuff :)
You basically transfer the information of the hipoly mesh down into the textures of the lowpoly mesh's UVs so you can have more detail outside of the base geometry
I know about sOOOO many SP/SD programs, but I never tent to use them
Blender is my go to unless it's for normal maps, then I do some normal editing in Paint.net
If you're going to learn game dev asset creation, you should invest your time into learning Adobe Substance Suite and common game dev techniques. I think you could go very far. Good work with what u have tho :)
that workflow is how you can create low poly foliage with great amount of detail. It all gets baked into a texture from a model
this us an example of some foliage I made the other day
I used tools in Substance to paint details and shading information

I'm well acquainted with the "proper"/"industry standard" workflow, I've known how this works from the start
I honestly despise it, I'd rather find alternatives to programs if at all possible due it being such an obnoxiously high price barrier to even buy "professional" tools
I've worked with C4D, Maya, 3dsMax
All of them had the same issue with how annoying they are to get ahold of just the bare minimum and control wise
Our Middle School had us use 3DS Max, People call it professional (at the time
)
But I swiftly learned about Blender, and it may be a swiss army knife or jack of all trades, but unlike most industry standard programs, It worked well for me, and it will always work well for me
I also tried other texturing tools like Mixer, Substance Designer, and another one iirc it was called Marmoset
all 3 just didn't work
Mixer just flat out didn't boot after relaunching it and bluescreened my PC, SD didn't even get past the welcome popup window before it crashed and closed itself, and Marmoset is just not... that good UI wise for me to understand, and looking at both the official documentation and YT vids, yeah that's a hard pass.

I've never got payed for my models whenever working with other devs, I made like 9 character models for 1 dev team once, the head dev said the rest of the team would get payed by the end of the month, Halfway through the month, head dev and 3 other higher up team members got in a fight in a call about how they should handle paying the team, and then the head dev literally said to the rest of the team in email "Fuck you all, I'll take my game concept elsewhere"
I only know this because one of the 3 other higher devs was someone ik irl and yeahhhh
solo/very small scope stuff in the beginning will get you the best results. If you do commission work, make sure you get paid at least 50% upfront if it isn't from a reputable company.
Making maps for CSGO has let me keep my scope low and focusing on a single environment at a time with a lot of constraints that forces me to think carefully about what I want to make. I've worked with a maximum of two others at once and I always try to keep workload even and at a flat hierarchy
