Dash resets your velocity on the end of the dash UNLESS you jump during it (which will cancel the dash attack when it's going to get added)
eel attacking logic
every 10 seconds if the eel can see the player then it'll lunge towards it and it won't stop until it reaches the player's position when it started lunging
also if you look closely it's mouth opens a little
Can't wait for the scripted sequence when the eel corners the player and right before they grab the player they get got by a bigger fish thing

the tl;dr:
It's inconsistent for when the small sammy actually stops, sometimes (most commonly) sammy would just fall into the water because Godot didn't process the collision for an area that makes small sammy stop by the edge of the water

No it is move and slide, just that the small Sammy is using a Pathfinding thing along with move and slide which is what’s tripping it up so much

Now that I have custom teams and subclasses within teams with custom properties, it's time to start thinking about game modes and game rules
My idea is to do something similar to the game rule files except it is a list of delegate functions and parameters for different events
For example, say you have a game mode where when a player gets a kill they earn a point and when they die, they lose half of their points
The commands in the delegate file could read:
PK ADDVAR (score) (1): "On player gets kill, add 1 to the score variable"
and
PD CDVVAR (score) (2): "On player dies, ceiling divide score by 2"
When the server starts it will run through this file reading each and setting up a list of delegates for each event corresponding with the file and its parameters, then whenever the event is triggered it iterates through the list and does each delegate

honestly have like no easy answer, there's a few youtube vids i can recommend but a lot of it is just trial and error
pretty much Knee-Deep in the Dead is a guideline to good Doom maps
and also studying other's maps so you can learn the technique
so is No Rest for the Living too

Take a look at how other good maps place their enemies, and try to replicate that.

some quick tips:
Archviles create the most tense situations when put into rooms when you cleared them out of monsters
use Shotgunners and Chaingunners sparingly since they are both can become tedious hitscan attacks and give player way too much ammo if used a lot
don't be TNT Evilution and put 2 shotgunners into a big room, think the encounters out and stuff
i expect the pinky and a mancubus might be a good combo
that actually sounds fair, just be wary of mancubus' projectiles that might kill pinkies/make them infight
then id put the mancubus on a raised platform

If you're asking about the shader it's stuff I've made myself.
It's pretty much just a simple wrapped lambert with a triplanar brush strokes texture multiplied with it then light warped.
A good chunk of the heavy lifting is done by the brush stroke texture and hand painted textures though.

having fun with J.A.C.K. and a couple of .wads of alpha textures for my first goldsrc map
it actually has something akin to gameplay and i plan on making it something a little more than a couple rooms :)
specifically yoinked the .wad for the alpha textures from signal lost's folders, since there was an entire damn folder full of em merged together, and since i've always had a soft spot for the campy 80's sci-fi shit the alpha had going on

the only problem with my keybind system (that was a lie there are many others) is that i have to keep the keybind menu open when the scene starts and then immediately close it when the scene gets loaded

Add an extra boolean variable and use that as a condition for the loop to run. Pressing N turns that variable false.

okay so..
While is a loop type, if a condition is true (lets say for this example a bool named "IsStarted" is made), IsStarted by default is true, that While loop will continue to loop though those lines of code inside of it (which lets say print("True")) while IsStarted == true, and so what happens is if you were to set IsStarted = false? The While loop breaks, and the rest of the code after the While loop is ran (effectively breaking out of the While loop)

What I like to do personally is set a control bool that I set before the while loop, run the loop off of that being true or false, whichever condition you want

Basically you could write it as what I posted while !key (where key is the bool, and the "!" before it means "not" so effectively while key == false/ while key is not true )

so effectively when you type if key/if key == true it's seeing if [value] == true and likewise if you type if !key / if key == false it's seeing if [value] == false
same thing applies to while loops

Note: when I type "!" that's just a way of typing out "bool == false"

How would I make my AI figure out it's stuck and needs to jump? I tried adding checks for velocity but that's not very helpful as the stuck AI just keeps stuttering on corners and not zeroing out fully. I've tried using the godot-s built in is_on_wall() function, but that does not report walls when you approach a ramp at a certain angle. Any ideas?

Like lets say "for each [insert float distance here/(x)] in [the distance from an object], ++ 1"
Because I basically already know [the distance from an object] I want, I just want to instance 1 object per [x] distance from that space between [the distance from an object]

How I would do it, is use modulo on the line distance with the interval to get the remainder, then subtract remainder from the distance.
Then divide the distance by the interval to get the object count, then iterate the count multiplying the count with the interval

Boss having player’s movement
The main boss being an obstacle course while the boss itself hinders with your movement on your way to him
Not an intended feature but when I got to the Jetstream Sam fight in mgr I didn't have any rations and I didn't realize you could get them from crates. But that actually just made the fight a completely skill based fair and square sword fight so it actually enhanced the experience as far as I'm concerned
