I know I'm late to this particular party, but I can absolutely say that AMID EVIL is the best of the retro FPS games we've been getting the last few years, as far as I'm concerned. It just plays so well. Fantastic level design, fantastic visuals, fantastic weapons, fantastic music, and the sheer imagination and vision that went into particularly the later parts of the game is unmatched by most AAA studios of the last couple of decades.
Best money I've spent on gaming for a very long while and I'm sitting on four digits of games in my Steam library.
My only regret is finding out about it too late to get that Big Box thing.
(Speaking of: Please make Collector's Edition big box version when the DLC comes.)

It's basically just a little bigger, and the chapter select is quite a bit more complicated, but it's not exactly a test of your fortitude or intelligence by any stretch of the imagination.

Okay, if I launch the game while SteamVR is active, it warns me that launching it now will run it both on Desktop and in the SteamVR environment which might lead to unacceptable performance. To only launch in desktop mode, close Steam VR.

I don't know if this is a bug or is the RT working correctly while my 1060 is crying, but I notinced that if I leave the Screen% at 50%, it stays at 30 fps
but if I go to 51%, suddenly the reflections look way nicer and my fps goes to 11 lol

ok yeah i was right. You are absolutely doing more damage to an enemy when you match their color with a mana weapon
or moreso, the color of the enemy is indicating what is best to use against them. for instance, the knights with the mirroring shields obviously cant deflect an axe attack
and so axes just 2 shot them
this enemy is silver just like the manacolor of the axe
green enemies rush headlong into melees, and are easily cleaved in half by a single swordshot
Blues electrocute and get soul missiled easily.

With Amid Evil, turns out that's just fine for a first run. Doesn't start too challenging, lets you get your bearings, and still ramps the challenge a bit later on.
