Hey I had that axe thing happen again, where it gets stuck on weapon scroll. Don't know if that was supposed to be fixed or not. And I had the kill count on a level go over the total. Lol and I also loaded a game on a cleared level and I was surrounded by enemies. When I reloaded the quicksave they were gone. :p

probably because most games like that have a ton of files/assets in one "bundle", but the entire bundle has to be redownloaded for any change made to it
i know there are some that have proper patching despite having asset bundle files, but i'm sure it's more complicated to set up

there were some old patching tools that used to do file compares and then patch the actual files with data
but it used to take ages

it is possible to make a new weapon
based on the Magic Hands
and give it in the later episodes
so you can balance them around that weapon
make the aeternum be the magic hand weapon
only weapon that isn't a staff or an axe, so it only makes sense to make that the spell, but it's pretty unrealistic to ask for that since the weapons are done iirc.
the player's hands don't ever show up swinging or using weapons; what if secretly your hands are just invisible 👀

What would Amid Evil weapons equal to Doom rooster of weapons? i only played Hexen/Heretic a little bit as a kid so don't know what would equal what weapon , im asking caus ei like to bind weapons to certain keys in these type of games
Just relate the numbers. 1 is melee, 2 pistol, 3 shotgun, etc

Just having some trouble figuring out Blueprints for one of my classes, and if AE is done in Blueprints, that would keep me from losing morale about it, seeing that Blueprints can actually be mastered and used for good product
I have barely scratched surface of AE. I love this game so much... Really just noticed that the weapon pickup is a maniacal laugh 😈 😈 such a fun touch... I am on my 3rd attempt at finding all secrets and still short a couple in e1m1-3 each level... There's just a ridiculous awesome feeling jumping sideways off one level to next in horde mode, flinging planets, switching to another weapon, dodging... All at once. Incredible game

i think the mace is more like the stake gun, it cann hit multiple targets but it's clearly not it's job as it won't do much if you aren't centering the mace on what you are killing, that's why some people still refer to the sword as the real shotgun in the game, because it can take out large amounts of enemies in a few swings
they're not 1:1 analogues of anything, whisper's edge penetrates enemies on an edge hit, star of torment can never be effective on more than one enemy, and voltride's a potential room-clearer with a high-risk/high-reward asterisk
i hated the whisper's edge too at first then i learned how to use it and used that mostly until the voltride got updated and now priority #1 is have a deep well of blue mana so I can keep using the voltride
i touched the voltride once and that was it lol, it just doesnt feel like it fits any scenario better than another weapon

Supposing you only have blue mana: putting aside how useful it is to clear a room with one chain-lightning Overkill, as long as you have decent aim I can't think of any combat scenario where the wand would be better than the Voltride. I pretty much view it as an upgrade the same way the chaingun replaced the pistol in Doom.

also I think it has a better Soul Mode for most bosses
They said the Azure Orb had the highest DPS when Soul-powered

alright so
game is fun, looks very nice, I like how shiny and detailed it all is while still looking a bit pixely
one issue, I feel the enemy variety in the first area gets dumped on you way too fast, like, you'll see every enemy in the first level
Ive yet to play the second level
or area rather
It just gets better and more grand
so Ive no idea if theres new enemies there

imagine how boring that first level would be if you didnt have all those enemies

In terms of maps, Episode 3 is the best. In terms of enemies, it feels the most boring
Yes, map design is spectacular, lots of sloped surfaces, complex geo and a nice direction overall. However, enemy placement is pretty bare bones. e3m3 is the worst example of this happening, on the way to the top of the temple.
The ghost are ok, kind of bland but they do stuff and it's hard to tell how many there are in a group so that works as something to keep in mind. The stone heads are also alright as an enemy, again nothing spectacular but they work.
But the golems? They're boring. Visually, their death animations are neat but otherwise they look dull. This is compounded by their attack, which is an easy to avoid rock. It feels like the best that can be done to make them a threat is to spawn them around you on tight corridors/walkways. They're just tough enough to be annoying to put down that filling a room with them will be tedious to work through.
And that being the enemy that gets a bigger version that doesn't really do anything different other than have an exploding rock and a bigger HP pool
FYI enemies have weaknesses, ghosts die in 1 hit by the axe, golems faster with the rl but i don't know about the stone faces

Already suggested at the steam forums to spice up the enemy placements. When you don't have enough resources to work with, try to make the best use out of them, people say. That's what needs to happen here as well.
Like I already said, it's pretty "bland". Mostly one enemy type rushing you, instead of 2 or 3. Level architecture needs to be used more to create an interesting encounter etc. Good thing is that they are already working on improving everything said so we're good.
it's not really weaknesses as it's just how the hp numbers and damage numbers line up, axe has enough damage to 1 hit literally every low tier enemy in the game, meanwhile almost all of them survive at least a slash from the whisper's edge
Only thing missing in this game for me is some sweet emperor palpatine lightning gauntlets

There is a logical progression to what Dave is saying, e1 teaches you the basics and e2 makes you learn the new weapons. That feels kind of minor though doesn't it?
e2 could introduce teleporters or some other mechanic idk

btw something i noticed i need to mention in the steam forums sometime, i didn't find a whisper's edge today on e1m3 on my rerun of the game when playing axe start. That's very problematic for people who don't know that there is a star of torment hidden in the map.
So there is no easy green weapon if you start the map with the axe
nobody said axe start was easy
The problem is that there is green mana given to the players which will be useless if they don't know such an obscure secret like that
its called WARRIOR MODE for a reason
the game wasnt built around Warrior mode like Dusk was
its meant to keep the weapons
warrior mode is for an extra challenge

so hello this game is very nice and i like it a lot so far, it's basically Quexen but MODERN and that is absolutely not a bad thing
i found myself wondering though, does Evil difficulty work right?
it didn't seem to make everything a living hell as i thought it would, and i'm not trying to say that i'm good at this game because i'm not
