I have AE feedback, almighty Devs.
If I stand below an enemy on the stairs and I am colliding with them they don't realize i'm in range and don't attack.
Blue staff feels underpowered and feels like it wastes about 1/3 of my ammo. Bad gamefeel there.
There's a big problem with most if the weapons for me and this is that they feel underpowered. This doesn't mean they're unbalanced, rather, it just means they're missing a good feeling. The Axe has that clang sound (are you guys Berserk fans?) that sounds super heavy and powerful but there's almost no feedback when you swing or hit an enemy. A little camera movement can go a long way with this.
Another case for this is Whispers edge, which has little to no feedback for firing and the collision when hitting enemies can feel entirely like a miss if you're not paying close attention. The sounds need some more oomph or bass to get a good effect and there should be an equivalent of that axe clang for every hit on an enemy.
I understand this may be a deliberate choice to contrast between normal combat and soul mode but for me the underpowered feeling isn't working very well.
Something I thought was very interesting was the kill feedback you have on some weapons. The trident for example will electrify enemies for a short time when they die and this was a VERY good tell for when to stop firing. Why not have some feedback directly in the first person model when a kill happens? If the blue staff sparked on a kill or whispers edge flashed green it would go a long way to help me understand what's happening when things get chaotic.
Another feedback problem I am having is that it's hard to tell what the status of the player character is. The ripply voice sounds get lost very easily when a lot is going on and it can be very hard to tell when I take a hit. I stood still and let a melee character slap me a little and I realized it basically just deducts health and makes a quiet sound. Needs more - some shake, louder feedback or some sort of damage flash. I also noticed that damage sounds were not playing consistently. For instance when 3 melee enemies are striking me I am taking nearly constant damage but only have a sound to notify me every 1-2 seconds.
Pickups don't give any visual feedback and just disappear when I'm within a foot or so of them. Might be improved by some small visual queue.
Why can't I open my saved games screen when I die? I don't want to load latest every time or go to the main menu.

Why can't I preserve soul mode? I often have to use it when I only want to kill one enemy. this is annoying

The water staff has a bouncy animation that feels like a soft cuddly bunny bouncing up and down and it sounds like someone swashing water around in their mouth. The sword has a swooshing sound effect upon firing, the problem being its a sword impacting with something that feels satisfying not the act of swinging it making the weapon as a whole hard to make impactful. The voltrides tiny zappy sounds don't lead to something that feels like its got any kick, and the recoil is pretty piddly as well. The celestial claw sounds like its launching pillows, and the explosion sounds just as impactful. Finally the impact of the bfg thing feels fine to me its just what it does to enemies that I have a problem with. They kinda just evaporate in a slow and underwhelming way. I'm not saying this maliciously or to insult the game in anyway it is a fantastic game but because it wants to focus so much on combat these are the kinda things that need to be ironed out. The enemies in chapter 2 throw what appears to be large health globules.
This creates some huge ludonarrative dissonance for the player.

Regardless of what you use they are not enjoyable to fight, at the very least have them loosely track the player rather than perfectly darting for them.

They aren't interesting as enemy types they instantly dart for the player which would be fine if a good chunk of the types didn't do that already. What's worse though is that with the other types their movements were a bit more varied than walk in a straight line and I felt like there was some ounce of skill in taking them down. The purple pricks are just annoying. Not hard I never died to them once, but I was just so ticked off whenever I saw them. I never felt like there was ever any skill in avoiding them or dodging them, i just felt like they were a bunch of love hungry sadists trying to hug me.

It's a soft spot for me because I generally love wave-based gameplay anyway, and it's more forgiving than DUSK's (with the lack of respawning resources 'n' all that)

DUSK's endless mode -- as far as I can tell -- doesn't respawn health, but it does respawn ammo and riches at least
so it's a lot harder.

i mean the last straight fantasy FPS we had was Hexen 2 IIRC
and that game was not fantastic
E1l2, after getting into the open air area where a ton of enemies come at you, with a full soul mode on...

yeah it balances the power fantasy by just throwing gobs of incredibly aggressive enemies at you
evil was a nice challenge and goign back to hard/hordes now is just exhilirating

why i still didn't get the 'collector'achivement?
they fixed it for the most part but there's still a slight chance for achievements to not unlock for whatever reason
i had to go back and complete destroyer 3 times before i got the achievement after the patch

i dont think difficulty changes enemy health and stuff
but yeah axe is for the low level goons, it one shots most of the low tier enemies while the sword is best for groups
never really played evil difficulty so you may be right but i didnt notice any changes between easy and hard
Couldn't make the jump over the pit on normal so had to play on hard
from easy to normal to hard you get more enemies and fewer pickups
evil's the only one that actually changes enemy attributes, making them faster and tougher
does evil also have increased enemy count from hard or is it just hard enemy count with faster movespeed and higher hp?
episode 3 has increased enemy count, haven't extensively tested the other but it seems the same there
Is there no concept of armor in this game? Thats certainly a departure from the source material
Final results: there are increased monster counts on all levels on e3 on evil and on e1 only on selenic stronghold by one and the rest of the levels have the same monster counts

also weapon pickups at the start of many levels tells you axe start is good choice!

and for some reason jumping physics is completely fucked when you stand on this block
(btw, its the same block that falls and brakes the ground, after you press a button)

I noticed that sometimes I go through a door without choosing the level.
you have to beat the episode to be able to select the level by entering the portal
