I felt how hard it is to compress a decade of history into a clear, coherent narrative, and I think it was well done.
The tonal shift from early idealism to later nihilism is handled without heavy preference. By the end, the full arc earns the runtime.

Definitely a great watch; great performances, good creative choices, not an overbearing score imo, they just blended well altogether and tightly paced except for the final 10-15 minutes where it kinda lingered.

Raimi proving he can make anything. This is genuinely one of his best films, and this one went under the radar. no wild camera moves, no bleeding through the edges, and no horror instinct. he puts it all down and made something restrained and suffocating.
He depicts the winter in Minnesota as a moral landscape. Indifferent, cold, and featureless. His genre work rarely calls for such tigh...

Joaquin Phoenix, Ben Stiller, Kristen Stewart, Denis Villeneuve, David Fincher and more than 1,000-plus Hollywood names have signed an open letter opposing the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger.

Alarmingly, this merger would reduce the number of major U.S. film studios to just four.

What impressed me most is that this screenplay had four writers, but still feels like one person wrote the whole thing. Usually when multiple writers work on a film, you can feel the differences. some scenes feel out of place, the tone changes too much, or the dialouge sounds different depending on the scene. Mafioso never feels like that. everything feels connected and consistent.
