Hey! What does the audio sound like on your end? Couple things we could try & good things to know to help diagnose what could be going on:

1. Does the bot in this server also sound bad?
2. Are you using any kind of bluetooth headphones?
3. Do other users sound bad, or is it just Rythm? How about any other bots if you have any?

On this server, it sounds fine, but on mine, it seems like the volume lowers itself and then turns back up. I'm not using headphones, and it's the only music bot we have.

Gotcha! Could you try running /volume and seeing what volume you have Rythm set to in your server? If it's a really high number like 200, try setting it to something lower like 100 since sometimes super high numbers can cause issues.

Other than that, you could also try manually adjusting the voice region in your voice channels. Rythm works best right now in the US East/Central regions, so going into the voice channel settings and setting them to that manually could improve things

Hi! Are the now playing messages giving your community notifications from the messages?

If so, you can actually turn off notifications for your server when someone sends a message by going into your Server Settings > Engagement > Default Notification Settings > Only @mentions

Hmmmm this could be the smart recommendations feature, it sends an embed when users join channels that Rythm is frequently used in to give them easy ways to start music. You can disable this in /settings via the "Feature Toggles" option, which will have a button to disable Smart Recommendations

You could try that out and let me know if that stops the notifs

Thinking of a way to make that work… ads disable the announcement (as we don’t want ads to be announced as text) but don’t re-enable the announcement text after the ads. Then new song checks setting and enables it back.

Howdy! The Voice channel lock makes it so Rythm will only ever be able to join that voice channel. Attempts to move it to another VC won't work. This is helpful for setups like ours, where we've set up playlists with specific genres of music to play in certain VCs, so we want only those bots in those channels.

This is Rythm's smart recommendation feature, it can be disabled through two routes

Server admins:
Use /settings > Feature Toggles > Smart Recommendations

Normal members:
Click the bell icon in the embed > Use the dropdown to disable

Server admins using /settings will disable the feature for the entire server, while normal members can disable this feature for just themselves via the bell icon

The E tag is literally just next to it, that means it has Explicit Content, the swear words are there if you wish. If no E tag is displayed next to a song, it means expected there is zero explicit.

The only time you may have a hard is if a song has two versions: a family-friendly version or an Explicit version; which in this case you need to check if the link in reference goes to a specific version or on /search where it can detail which is which

Yeh. Over all, users have the responsible and control which song to play. Altough I think servers based for younger kids (Like Roblox as example) would love such feature to turn off the explicit content. The bot will then not be allowed to play explicit content on the server.

Hi! We can talk about removing this command internally, but unfortuantely without a ton of pain we can't really provide a way to disable specific commands from our end.

However, Discord will let you do this already! If you go into your Server Settings > Integrations > Rythm, you can enable and disable specific commands from being able to be used by your users. When denied access, they won't even appear in the / autocomplete menu. However, this doesn't apply to anyone with administrator permissions as they'll bypass any permission overrides.

Definitely way too early to say. We're actively experimenting a ton with ad effectiveness since it's something we can tweak live without having to do a rolling update.

Transparently, there's a ton we have to balance here being in a predominately pirated market. While we have probably the cheapest subscription that exists currently, the result of that is that we get way lower amounts per subscription. It does make it a lot more affordable, but we need more people to subscribe as a result for the same amount of return you see in traditional services (which some giants became profitable only just last year!)

I can't get into the nitty gritty or anything, but we're constantly discussing monetization & the balance between free and premium. That's why we shifted more premium perks into free when we implemented ads!

Hmmm either Discord changed how integration options work (which wouldn't surprise me considering the UI is updated) or I didn't properly understand how singular command changes worked, but it looks like disabled commands run ephemerally rather than being blocked which is unfortunate

I will say however that Rythm uses global commands and I really highly doubt we'll be able to swap to guild based commands to let users disable commands individually, we had a system like that before and it was super glitchy and ended up breaking Rythm on servers due to limits for how many commands you can update on a guild in like 24 hours

We found out the original solution proposed does work! You just have user-based commands installed from selecting this top option rather than the bottom one

Your users shouldn't see the command unless they've also done this, which would be unlikely unless they're adding Rythm to other servers

This is part of us tweaking to see what works, where the line is, what makes people leave, what makes people sub, etc. I won't say absolutely no because I'm not the final decision maker on this front, but it's very likely we wont do server subscriptions simply because they're just not feasible. One subscription servicing hundreds, thousands, or hundreds of thousands of users is just simply not something we can realistically do as a legal service. Server wide premium right now is just for partners (if we do partnerships) and our own servers

Music is expensive! Rythm as the service it is now is also incredibly new, meaning we're building a subscription base from the ground up. We have to have income that lets us pay for music, our team, our infrastructure, and ideally gives us some leeway and room to grow. That also means we just don't have the data on what works and what doesn't. That's why we're collecting it with these experiments right now

I recommend if you are having any issues with wrong songs, Try the /search command. Some songs have priorities of exact text. For this example, Removing "guns n' Roses" from the search actually plays the original song 🙂

Rythm is a legal service, that means we obtain the license to stream the track to users! We pay to obtain music rights so that we can operate legally. Licensing is a pretty long and difficult process however, so sometimes there's tracks we don't have quite yet (although this should be pretty rare now)

Ingestion is the process of taking a music track we have the rights to and actually processing it so it's playable through Rythm. There's a lot of music we have licensed & processing it can take a lot of time (or a track can just be stuck while trying to ingest)

Hahhaa no worries, for the bot one helpful thing is checking out /help, it'll show you all of the commands you can do and a small explanation of what they do.

For the activity, you can join a voice channel, click the controller button while in a voice channel to bring up the activity launcher, then you can launch Rythm from there and use the UI instead! Up to you whichever you prefer they both have their pros and cons 🙏

For a short tutorial, helpful commands on the bot are:

1. /play - this will play songs by name and accepts some links as well
2. /liked - this will bring up your liked songs list and let you play from there
3. /forceskip - This forcefully skips the song
4. /queue - Shows what's coming up next
5. /settings - Brings up settings to change how Rythm works in your server, including turning on and off features like autoplay or crossfade!

Hi! If you haven't used Rythm in a while, we updated our UI which was in testing for several months before release. The new UI is on a new database, so we merged some data which may cause some things like reset usernames. There's a data merge tool you can use in the settings to import your old information (like username), but we'll also be updating profiles to give you the ability to change your user and stuff like that

The mobile app is also offline for the moment since we've taken the old data down, so we'll be releasing an update for that eventually

Hi! You can disable this in two ways:

Per-user
As a normal user, you can click the bell icon in the embed to disable it for just yourself.

Server-wide
As a server admin, you can use /settings > Feature Toggles > Disable Smart Recommendations. This will disable it for everyone in the server.

You can access your perks by either launching the activity on Discord (as long as the email you used is the same as the Discord account), the bot (same thing) and the web app (you can login via Discord or email for it)

If for some reason, you can't access your perks despite being the same email linked and whatnot, you can always ask here for help.

Additional note: You can check your status on premium.rythm.fm (if you subscribed directly via Stripe) or through the bot via /premium (applies to both direct and Discord)

It may be the case, although while Rythm transmits audio of up to 64kbps (256kbps for Premium session), the connection between the client and Discord's voice channel servers still varies depending on where you are

Howdy! Easy thing to test, try to run a command in the channels it's sending updates in. If you don't get a response back that says the channel is blocked, check your allowed channels setting again and make sure it's not set to include instead of exclude or vice versa!

If you do get a blocked response, double check Rythm's permissions and make sure it actually has perms to send messages in the bot-commands channel.

Hi, i added rythm bot to a server and in the integration settings, i only restricted it to 1 text channel that I created (named #1092559556854431764-bot) and 1 vc.

However, it keeps giving recommemdations of songs in a different text channel (#bot) whenever someone joins the vc, which is getting pretty annoying. I restricted the rythm bot to only 2 channels in the integration settings, is there any other way i can stop it from sending recommendations. Or even if there are recommendations, why won't it be sent to the #1092559556854431764-bot channel that i created separately??

Btw, the commands work fine when sent from the other text channel (rythm-bot). It's just the song recommendation that rythm sends to the original bot command text channel that is getting a bit too much. So i wanna find a way to disable it.

1. Go ahead and send a ticket in to Discord to get a refund for the charges (https://dis.gd/billing)
2. You can run /premium in #commands here to sub through stripe instead, which is a billing flow we have a lot more direct control over and should work a lot better
