My uncle recently just gave me a 2013 macbook air since he is upgrading his home office, and I'm wondering what I should do with it. My current laptop has a mobile intel core i3 4th gen with 12gb ram and a 240gb ssd, while this macbook has a mobile intel core i7 4th gen with 8gb ram and a 500gb ssd, so it would definitely be an upgrade compared to my current laptop. I'm wondering if I should sell it and attempt to locate a laptop with better specs or if I should keep it and install windows on it (or linux if steam remote play is supported). What do you all think I should do?

I mainly use my current laptop for school, no graphical applications. Sometimes I watch videos via amazon prime or plex, and use Steam's remote play feature.

I did forget to mention, my current laptop only has a wireless N adapter, but has a 10/100 mbps ethernet adapter, while the macbook has a wireless AC adapter but no ethernet.

What about the voltages read by your mobo or GPU, are the 3.3v, 5v, and 12v, in their normal range?

they're not completely accurate, but if it reports something out of the ordinary, it could be a clue towards something

don't know how I can use that to monitor voltage

the CPU is shaking violently between 0.7 V and 1 V

don't know if that's normal or not, it's idle rn

What about under the mobo or GPU section? The CPU doesn't get its power direct from your power supply

GPU instability without load or OC is strange, only ever heard of it happening from a 12v rail outputting 11.2v or lower, or driver issues

I don't really know about that part, I am running the PC on FSP 500 60APN PSU with 24 pin - to - 8 pin adapter to make it work on dell's OEM mobo

not really sure of a way to test if its dying or something without either a multimeter or using HWiNFO since you're not able to get that info from BIOS either
Probably not hugely likely to be that its dying either though, considering FSP's reputation I should know better than to trust ANY PSU manu, not just your typical evga/thermaltake/corsair

Well I don't know too much about their lower tiered units so that's probably true

I thought they had fully discontinued lower tier units and worked solely on Gq/PurePower10 and server units now

Do you have a multimeter on you? It + paperclip test might be useful

sometimes I get anxious and get prepared for the PSU to blow up in my face, when I do some overclocking experiments for example, but I am sure I Should be fine since this is a low power PC (uses i5 4590), the only power hog in the PC is the GPU I guess

better to ruin a PSU than to let the PSU kill all your components by not delivering the power they need in a clean and stable manner

or worse, have a diablotek/logisys/occasionally EVGA G3 situation on your hands
