the irony of getting a small battery for qweight reduction is more expensive than the bigger battery
a fullsize battery for my e46 is like idk $90 or so
an antigrav battery for it is over a thousand

thousand bucks for like a 50 lb weight saving
Yikers
yet i can pull my spare, rear seats and passenger seats for free and get ~200 lbs
that battery swap would be like really pushing for low weight
esp given that grand could be put into buying a 3.0 engine to swap in for more gains and less cost
It's not branded as being lightweight or anything it's just small
There are lightweight ones that are like £700
Nvm I see we're referencing the same type of battery
Mclarens car battery is like $4000 or something like that
But ot only weighs a few pounds which is pretty neat
probably the tech that pioneered the anti grav batteries
Never heard of that brand specifically
But it is not a normal 12 volt car battery, it's just a lithium ion slab
Like a mini ev car battery
Since it is only meant to replace the car battery it is tiny and light
But $150 for a normal one vs like $3-5k is the kicker lol
from what i remember they are fairly new
This wpuld be good for something like a pricey kit car
y'know, the thing every car owner looking to sell their car should do, but many forego.
Need to get a trim in here one day
Today on top shear..
Never seen a brake drum like this
got them air cooling fins
I agree
As someone who used to detail professionally for car sales a simple vacuum can go a long way
Hii car chatto
Insurance said I couldn't get a warrenty even though I am below the 10,000 miles they wanted because I'm not the first owner
Well technically it was a lease...
So they didn't actually own it
Insurance haha
2D (cardboard cutout of mustang)
More pictures Mr miju!!
Must be level 5
Cool, what country are those plates?
🇸🇦
Pretty sure that's a 7 series
Was my second guess but i decided to elude that
It’s not 5 series
Saudi
I just don’t like bmw anymore mgl
But they look cool
Mines been pissing me off so much its for sale rn 🤣
It’s staring you in the face
Let me guess
Oil leak?
Transmission leak
Also my passenger door stopped closing
My suspension broke
Never had to deal with that
It’s got the child gap teeth look lmao
I was thinking about buying an mk5 supra but it’s just another bmw
Yesssss!
That factory plate frame is horrid
It used to be black and i painted it cuz it angered me 🤣
I’m a huge 8 series fan Kate
Are they reliable as daily cars
I bought this back in 2019 because I needed something I could drive for a while
No 🤣
I don’t believe you know bmw very well
They are cool but reliable?
I drive a challenger reliability is LAST thing on my mind
I had lifter ticks recently
Has a 50% chance of blowing up every 1000 miles
What are ya doing cooking stuff in the desert?
Perhaps
Atleast she’s still strong and drives well
Waltuh stop making 5w40 the bmw meet was last week
Oh no I mean the Beamer
Brimmer
Oh I want beeg 8 series
I want to hate myself
More then I already do
Someones selling 2 850ci’s for like $1000
How bad condition
I was so tenpted to buy them and v12 swap the 46
Like not great, youd be able to make one half decent one out of the 2
By yourself a used 130K+ mile M5
And have a spare v12 for when the first one goes
In the ceo of bad decisions I fit the bmw clientele
Or am I fitting the ford/ Dodge
We got the bad timeline where pre 2020 BMWs are unreliable and a massive headache
Fair
Pretty much every engine that isnt an i6 excluding the n55
My next car will be Japanese
Im done with the German/american
Or maybe it’s just a constant in the multiverse
There’s no escaping a V12 BMW blowing up in your face
I want a skyline gtr but realize.. IM FLAT BROKE
Lucky bastard..
We also got a bad timeline where R34 GT-Rs are 150-250K
How bout r32?
They were 139k USD msrp in the 90:
Like it’s a cool car but why are we paying Supercar money for a 300 hp sports car
I like r32s curvy
Good condition used r32 gtr is like 40 - 50k
DEAL DEAL GAME
I’ve seen base GT-Rs for like 60-80K
So you choose like r32 GTR or r34 GTT
R32 I love the curvy front
Should I buy a crusty ass used car? It's technically cheaper than the gaming pc I've been begging my mom for xD (I'm 16?
Idk what I'd do with a car though since I can't fucking drive
One of my buddies has an R32 GTSR with like his own version. Of the gtr kit
What ever you can afford
Its got the bumpers but its sick for a car he only paid 19k for
I want a proper gtr. Gtr or nothing
I'm asking you guys what would I do with a used car cuz I'm bored rn
presumably you'd drive it
If your spending big money on import cars then go big or go home
beside driving it* (I can't drive)
Let it sit in the driveway and depreciate its remaining financial value
absolutely nothing
great idea lowkey
I would know 😎
You ain’t gonna sell
promote kate to head moderator very helpful
🤣🤣🤣
Head mod exclusively for this chat
I don’t interact with the actual gta channels anymore anyway
S2K is one of the few JDM cars that is kinda nicely priced
Still a bit overpriced imo but it’s still affordable
S2Ks are pretty cool yeah I like them
For an enthusiast car yeah, the base ones are still decently priced
I want a Jdm RHD to feel at home
Iirc some sp2 club racers were pushing like $200k on BaT
I need the internet to start shit talking mark 4 supras again so i can buy a handful of them for cheap
Idk I grew up on a rhd car in Japan when I dared to drive there
Or some dumbass kid to sell one for 9 grand as a camry
Ive seen this once and it sold within the same day, and im so mad i didnt buy it
I despise Camrys
If you knew how to read youd have seen i said “sold supra as camry”
It was a mark 4 supra
Listed as a camry
New Camrys are pretty nice
Unfortunately only gonna be a 4 banger hybrid but it’s at least a nice looking eco car
The previous gen TRDs are also pretty cool but like just get a Lexus IS 350 atp
Mehhhhh lowkey id rather an RB26DETT swapped GTT nowadays (i dont like AWD for my fun cars personally)
And like id never drive a skyline in the winter, im nice to my cars
Lowk i fuck with the r34 sedan though 😆
Shame the stagea does it all better for a family skyline
I shouldn’t have a skyline in the Midwest
Yeah I’d buy a TRD Camry if Lexus didn’t exist but as it stands the same year IS 350s just make more power, are AWD, and look better imo
More class~
Probably not, no but if you like baby the shit out of it you’d be fine
Better then a bmw
I agree
I get a 4l v8 RWD vip big body
For like 2k more than my e46 cost
I’ve seen a Toyota century in Tokyo before, beauty thing I want one
But they are expensive and are limited
Yea the century is just the toyota competitor to the president
Although this specific president looks more like an ls400 competitor
You can have bunch of hostesses and still be dignified in a century
Base?
They didn't have performance enhancing trims lol
There's the cr but that's an overpriced collectors thing nowadays
Oh to be able to buy one of those new 😩
Lucky bastards
That one you posted is clean
But I can't stand rhd
I would only drive one of I was in the uk or Japan
Can I paint it bright suki pink
Rhd on roads you drive on the right side of feels like shit
Making left turns is a nightmare
I grew up on a rhd drive car. So it’s natural to me
of course, you wouldn't take pictures of a dirty car
Lhd was a bitch to learn
I’m so used to my dominant hand on the wheel
And driving my friends manual it was strange with my dom hand on the stick
It's better to be positioned closer to the middle of the road
So if you are driving on the left side then rhd is fine
I’m just used to it imo
Fair
I am left handed so I am curious as to how it would feel
I just rest my hand on the shifter like timo Salonen
Moving my hand outward to go to first and second and closer to me for the higher gears
As I’m in the us.. it’s weird with the idea of driving RHD
Like I know it’s rare but most Americans are used to passenger right side
So they accidentally get into drivers seat before I get there
Yeah the base sp1 sp2 and the cr
What?
The ap1 and ap2 generation codes
The first gen was great but people complained about the torque, fishy handling and powerband so the second gen fixed all that
But some enthusiasts say the second gen lost a bit of charm
By cutting the redline from 9000 to 8000
One honestly doesn't feel better than the other it's moreso preference
The cr is an ap2
It was only made in 2009
I know, they are still bases.
Base implies there is something better
If there is no trim level it is kinda like saying 1 x 1
In the end the answer it still one
Ik the newer s2000's have a bigger engine and are probably more refined but the first gens just have something special to them
The way they just slide and rev so high
Damn this feels like talking about a burger when you are hungry 😩
Now I want an s2000
this is how i feel when my stepdad says i should buy a car ive wanted for years
he wanted me to identify this "80s looking v8 toyota that was really loud"
it was a 1995 lexus ls
and then he goes "you should buy one of those"
liek YEAH i want one so badly 🤤
speaking of i just found a guy selling 2 98 ls400's
i dont like the second gen facelift but i wonder if you could theoretically retrofit the first gen face on it
The ls400 is sick
its like all the things i like about my e46 but with 2 more cylinders 120 more horsepower and a way more refined look
yea i would
That was my favorite thing to do back then
Until they introduced 20k fines and prison for anyone who does it
And also the possibility of getting this
Hajwala?
Yes
The largest Auto vs Manual price discrepancy
Either the manual on this feels like sex, or the auto paddles suck that much
I wonder how much an auto to manual conversion would cost
Explain this then
Got to see a random old ford panel van today

Sadly they didnt have merch. I was 1000 percent ready to give feld way to much money for a shirt but now to be petty i will be ordering from either team scream or tomfoolery because #supportindependntteams
You forgor to mention 10k miles difference too
But that’s still insane
My guess is probably 75k-100k
It's pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme, the difference in miles is only a small fraction of the factor
Autos go for $200-300k and manuals go for $600k-$1.2mil
The discrepancy is insane
@opal forum at that point, a professional manual conversion is the best bang for your buck but it won't be a collector car or anything like that
It might not raise the value of the car as much as it costs to do it
Didn’t the stradman get one and convert it into a manual
I dont know how they did it.. But BMW got me to like the ugly upcoming BMW iX3
it's a gated manual, in that specific orange with the red interior lookin like a grapefruit
gated in a v12 = monkey price
Hai chatto!
Nah that’s a factory one and it’s worth like a $100k more than a normal manual murcielago
Maybe i exaggerated a bit here lol
Same car sold for double the price in just 2 years
They shot up in price like the Carrera gt
What’s a cheap but cool sports car ?
S2000, gr86, miata, I guess civic si if you want it to be your sole practical car
Depends on your definition of cheap
also depends on your definition of cool
i'd elect the Suzuki Swift Sport but I dunno if you fw them or if they are sold in your market
Practical and sport car.. worst 2 words to include together
I want a coupe, only stipulation
pretty much all of the above that epikderpywhale have suggested
How bout old Acura integras?
sure
I dunno how cheap they go where you may be from but they good handling and they got fantastic aftermarket support
Are they considered sports cars or just eco boxes
they're moreso cool econoboxes first then sportscar later
the higher the trim the more sporty they'll be
Yea I’m just saying it’s not a bad combo
Idk I’ve always loved the 90s integras cuz of the front end
I’m into 2 doors cuz single
they got
two different ones
interesting take actually
The left round headlights are better
because 9 outta 10 people I converse with that generation integra they prefer the JDM front
The American front is SEXY
yeap gonna disagree with that
the usdm integra doesn't even look like from the rest of the US Honda lineup
but I do agree it has more personality to the bug eyes
I like the round bug eye integra
Idk adds to its exotic look
Like “I can’t afford a fancy car but I can afford this”
My uncle had an LS5 swapped Integra when I was younger. Was the coolest car to me for a while
the usdm bumper look like a 🤓 and the jdm bumper look like a 😎
The jdm looks so basic tho
The usdm one looks kinda cool
👎
Mijuuuuu
Not really, there are plenty of amazing lightweight good handing 4 doors
The one with the JDM front was my first car!
chevron my beloved
Now with Techron™️!
this specific gas station has stuck with me solely for being close to my work
and it being the first one i went to with thr e46 (because of my above statement)
The four lights are iconic
I can't imagine that gen without it
I want it so bad
I found a Porsche 88’ 928 for sale in Texas..
This will probably go for a lot
6 hours left and it's at $13,750
My guess will be $18k
wow cars and stuff amirite
Ikr
Vroom toys
Sold for 19,630
F
F
I might not like the Miata but F
what
what
😒

isnt Bob Hall the father of miatas?
Bob Hall is a former American motoring journalist best known for his work as an automotive product planner.
Hall is best known as a founder member of the development team who produced the Mazda MX-5.
says in that wiki
bob hall came up with the idea, but he wasn't responsible with the engineering or design
matano designed the car
"father" is a weird title that i've never taken note of, so who knows
i mean technically, both..
oh no, another excuse (as good as all the other ones) for NA prices to go up more.
getting real tired of seeing NAs and NBs getting listed for $10k that have clearly had zero maintenance or love beyond just barely enough to keep it kind-of going down the road. Doubly tired of the dipshits that pay that kind of money for a junk-ass car that gives people the idea their shitbox is worth that much.
Whats funny is when you drive that NA into the ditch your insurance company is going to offer to a value that starts with the number "1" and only has 3 digits behind it because that shits hulled out.
NA Miatas lame as hell
Every single NA Miata owner also acts the exact same
It’s like they churn them out of a factory like terminators
i think they are cute
but i wouldnt own one
i saw a red one the other day
middle aged men with it

They act all special but realize they are the same as each other
Out of the possibly near 100 NA Miatas I’ve seen in my life I’ve only seen 1 that was actually cool
And it was a turbo’d K swap
Think the guy was pushing like near 400 hp if not more
The weight balance lmao
Cars that are MADE to be fast are not nice
But cars designed to be fast are nice
Yeah your mista is fast but not comfortable
Yeah usually 300-350 hp is plenty enough for smaller cars like that
250-350
Still very driveable and really fun
If I want a fast car I’m no modding a cheapo tuner car
I’m saving myself the .357
Building up a cheap tuner can be fun for sure but yeah you definitely need to keep it below like 600-700 hp at most to really have a proper blast with them
Until you blow the motor with the extra HP
It obviously depends where you live too but anything past those HP numbers is usually just unusable for public roads
to be Fair I’d rather buy an old corvette or viper if I want something fast
I fw corvettes yeah
Atleast DESIGNED for speed not built up for high hp numbers
Yeah that’s fair
I want a 5th gen viper
5th Gen Vipers are super cool
I’d rather that over a Supra- one reason the community around supras are BAD
I’m honestly not a huge fan of older Vipers looks wise
But the 5th Gen is like perfect
It looks like a car that will kill you
And it will
Yeah it definitely will
They’re also just heavily overpriced too
Both Mk4 and Mk5s
And the fan boys of the mk4 piss me off
A lot of the JDM titans are kinda just overhyped in general
I just want a jdm Toyota century ..
They’re great cars and have great Motorsport history as well but people don’t view them as that
They just see Skyline or Supra and think “that thing must have 1000 horsepower and can gap a Bugatti”
Then their motor blows half way into the race
Even though they’re real specialty is actually being really quick on the track for their size
Trying to shove all that boost on a stock motor 🙁
Fucking twin turbo super charger too
Twin charged Supra would be insane
Weight balance it, AWD
There was this one old guy with a Supra that I would pass by on the way to work for about a year
Haven’t seen him in a while but his Supra was pretty much bone stock
Stock wheels, stock ride height, etc
Shit was a gem
Exhooost?
Straight cut gears?
Nah it had nothing done to it
At least from the outside
Idk maybe he was packing a sleeper build but it looked like it came straight out of the 90s
but ferrari doesn't do a v10
the only people who can afford a miata
(fuuuuuuuuuuuck this world)
most horsepower on any modern production car is fairly unusable for public roads
Ferraris most common use engine is a v8
its already full wannabe ferrari
Where I live, there’s enough open and straight roads where you can pretty comfortably get on the throttle in a 600-700 hp car.
i suppose the area matters quite a bit yeah
But yeah once you start hitting 900-1000+ hp there’s pretty much nowhere where you can even remotely step on the gas
Ferrari
im in one of the most populated U.S cities so my buddies 80 hp civic is comperable to my old 500hp integra when it comes to getting blocked in by traffic
And if you live in the city then anything past 300 hp is useless 🙁
450 hp just to sit in traffic for 2 hours
literally why i stopped driving my 350z
almost the entire reason i bought an e46
aside from needing a new project
One of my cousins moved into the city for about a year for his new job and he drove a 2018 Mustang GT
He told me he was going insane
anything remotely performance oriented is infuriating in the city
hi i am new
even again like my e46, it only has 170 horsepower but it was literally made to rip through canyon roads at 140
Also doesn’t help that like 1 in every 4 cars is a massive full sized SUV being driven by a single person with no passengers
the other 3 cars are midsize pickup trucks
Yep pretty much
Like ma’am you have 1 child that you already sent to school. You do not need to be driving a Chevy Suburban to your office job at 8 in the morning
"i demanded we get a family car but a simple wagon was too small"
like ma'am idk as a single 21 year old i could have an entire family and all my tools + a full set of tires in my old 07 outback
Wagon would’ve also been a better financial decision but they settled for 1250/month at 15% apr for 5 years
But at least they got that fancy Suburban
i cant think of anything id personally use an suv for and this is coming from someone who has one but its fairly small
Toyota prius
but like a full suze suv like a suburban or an escalade is completely exsessive to me
id either just get another wagon or bridge the gap and buy another pickup truck
a 1st gen nissam stagea would be such a nice wagon to add to my lil car collection ngl
maybe a toyota mark 2 wagon
put ATs on it and hit a trail for shits and giggles
even fwd computer-controlled awd can go a lil teeny bit off the beaten path
beats scraping the bottom of your golf on gravel for 5km on the way to a lake
slap one of these fatass 37's on it
also i have a 92 sierra pickup for hitting the trail for shits and giggles
thats about all its good for till i get the slightest bit of air and the frame snaps
I'd sure hope so, lol
I wouldn't be surprised if it was still rough afterwards tbh, cars can be confusing
Aye!
At least your stuff was easy
Got my first start on this thing in a solid while
Hey Kate? Question if I looking in the market for a bmw.. cheap but running what gen
Does that combo even exist
Budget? Series preference? AwD rwd? Cylinder preference?
Cheap and running bmw? My e46 was $2000
AWD Midwest and v8 preferable but open to i6

This implies it wasn't running for a solid while
It ran when i bought it
Then it didnt

Idk if these came with xdrive but the e39 440i has a 4.4l v8
Fairly cheap
Don't BMW V8s not have a good reputation
V8 make me go crazy
Bmw anything that isnt an i6
I figured
I6s are BMW's bread and butter
Can I cook bread on butter over a bmw i6?
Not one that's working properly
E46 330ci has like 200ish horsepower 2 dolrs and an i6
Or you could step up to the bmw i wanted to buy
E46 has AWD?
E92 335i has a twin turbo i6 that’s heavily moddable, has a trim thats an AWD coupe
OOH
average price?
Yeah but i dont think the awd were coupes on the e46 gen
I don’t need 4 seats cuz I’m single..
I think they were exclusively sedans because it predates the XDrive badge
Pull them out and sell them
Insurance won't like you for that
Roll cage? Weld rear door ?
I have mine still in as a single adult, i use em for tool storage
Why weld the rear door shut
Id keep the rear doors unwelded
There's no good reason not to keep the seats in if you plan to use it for anything other than just track use
Duke boys
They are fawkin heavy
Right and German cars are known for their simplicity and low weight
I wanna pull mine out but im
Also doing weight reduction stuff
Look.. I’m single.. no chance for a guy or girl.. I don’t need 4 seats to remind me of my loneliness
Put stuff on top of them then
2 is all I need
Youd be kinda surprised about the low weight thing in some aspects
The e46 ZHP cloth seats are lighter than the m3 seats 💀
By like 50 lbs
Yeah? Just pull the oem rails and sort out fitting
Insurance may make you pay more because it may count as modifying a safety component of the vehicle
They probably make sparcos for most of not all bmw’s
Good I want one
The general sizes is the chassis doesnt really change
Also iirc most bmw coupes still have back seats
They are just significantly less useable
911s still have back seats
It's because of insurance
So do non vert 350zs
So how much will a sparco seat set me back
It costs less to insure a car that has second row seating
If I sell my rear seats on a 4 seater
Probably a grand at least
“Seats” an infant can fit in one but not a human
I never said they were effective as seating
Im not even sure what the oem leather bench is worth
Probably not much for a 15 y/o car
Legally they are seats but you know no sane human can sit in over for more then 10 minutes
22 y/o car
Would depend on the leather color
Some of the uglier seats were worth more
And then obviously condition
Can’t even get laid in the back of one sadge
Not with that attitude

Not to say.. but I’ve kissed in a hellcat before
That’s the most action I got in a hellcat
Honestly if you need to sell the rear seats to buy new front seats you don't need then I think you shouldn't do that
Sparco seat tho
I agree with will on this one
You should probably focus on getting the car working right before allat
I’m looking for a fun car too
Can I twin charge a 335i?
Im only planning on dumping my rear seats because its cheaper to make it lighter than it is to add power
Wouldn’t recommend at all
Getting it running right NA first
Group b my way on the road lmao
Factory twin turbo
Or just put a turbo, twincharging is a lot of trouble for not a lot of gain
Swap it to a single turbo and call it a day
Or that
The 335i comes with twin turbo
Then don't bother twincharging it
The n55 is a really finicky engine when it comes to boost
Modern turbos negate the need for superchargers anyway
The b58 does it better but its expensive
The hellcat fan in me wants to
It isn't like the 1980s where turbo cars were useless until 5000 RPM when the turbo was spooled up
Right
Turbo lag
And also the fact that boost in some turbo cars wasn't always built/delivered smoothly and sometimes hit you all at once like the 911s turbos of old were known to do
You could probably get a supercharger for an n55 but youd most likely be better off to delete the turbos rather than try and run both
Im in the Midwest soo will? Would a supacharga be good?
Twincharging would also make your intake side a fucking rats nest
those n55s are good for making power, not keeping it
I know your weather is near same as mine
It's not a good idea to change an engine's forced induction type if it comes from the factory with forced induction
If it came turbod, stick with turbos
Lotta things that can go wrong
Like my life
Trying to find an n55 that would have good enough compression to even think about doing something like that would probably be like winning the lottery to begin with
At least for an e92
Or e90
N55s get beat to hell a lot
Of course I’m stupid asf to want a beat up bmw
Might be able to find an f10 525i with a decent one since those came way later
What's the super common failure point they have? Is it the spark plugs?
For all bmw i6’s its ignition coils
Ah
Mine was no different
Super common to fond someone dumping one for running like shit
Drop $100 on some decent cools and you’re usually pretty good for a start
Don't they also really not like using any coil not from BMW themselves
Bosch makes all the bmw electronics
Yeah whoever it was iont remember
But yeah they seem to come back up as the best replacement parts for when the oem ones finally go
Hey Ty Kate for the bmw course
Np
I’ll see if I can find one in CA
Bit of advice for searching though
I don’t mind driving to ca for a bmw
Expect a laundry list of shit that needs to be done
I got a gal pal who I can stay with
They are fairly easy cars if you get an i6 but they will always have issues
Mainly oil
Leaks
There is a reason German cars lose resale value sharply after like 5 years or so
Ive had my e46 for months and im still tracking leaks
Let alone a decade or more
After like 60k miles they take a massive hit and then after like
15 years or so they seem to sit around 10k
For like showroom quality non m cars
American cars stay (relatively) cheap to fix because they were built cheap: German don't have that luxury
How much is an old bmw maintenance
Do tell please never owned
I just spent $600 on transmission fluid
Oki the American
She's the one who owns a BMW here
Sadge :3
Depends on the maintenance
Home girl here wants to be fucked by the money
Are you capable of doing it yourself or do you plan to shop
It?
Your 5.7 is more than capable of that
Just wait until you get hemi tick
My 5.7 fucks me raw
With bmw’s the ability to fix shit yourself will save THOUSAnds
True of most modern cars nowadays
If you can get the parts
🐶
MIJU
FUCK
Most modern cars dont have gatekept software though so you get an easy mode
💩

miju hiii
hello
bmw having locked ecu’s
For everything isnt fun
I’m getting a bad financial thought of buying an old BMW
same
J had to buy an adapter, software license and a tablet for diagnosing my transmission and lockout system
I know people at Ford so even if my Ford did have gate kept software I think I'd be able to finagle a Ford tech scanner into my hands
The alternative was bmw charging me $1400 for a trans scan
i hate that
First thing i learned when i bought mine was to never take it to bmw
My sister drives a 2023 maverick
A guy lightly backed into her at a stop light, no visible damage
Knocked out multiple sensors and the front-facing collision detection camera
700$ repair
normal cars: oil changed? let's check the stick :)) ezpz
porsche: oil changed? CONNECT THE OBD2 WE HAVE TO TELL THE CAR IT'S CHANGED
Okay well actually the first thing i learned was that there was a misfire on cylinder 1 2 and 5
I rear-ended someone on the highway a few months back, probably at a higher speed difference than her, and I had no permanent damage at all though
Funny how that works
Don’t clip me girl
Sealed transmission go reeeee
My collision detection system saved me good though, I probably would have gotten an airbag event were it not for that
Anyway see ya later chat
I saw someone install a dipstick on their e46 to bypass needing to open it to check
bye
cya
Mad theres no documentation on it
Was he murdered by big BMW for that
Maybe, his last post was in 2007
On the forum
Probably why theres no documentation on it 🤣
the driv
Engine bay still a rats nest tho
oh yeah, cheap ford amirite haha
my car should have two dipsticks
one in the engine and one in the driver seat
What's the one in the driver's seat for
driving

They're so cheap that my car has gone in for recalls like 3 separate times and there's still recalls pending parts
They even gave me a free Yeti the first time around
Anyone on ps4-5
There's one that's pending where my backup camera would just stop working completely
that seems very counter intuative for a backup camera
You don't say
The one they gave me a yeti for was that the side curtain airbags wouldn't reliably deploy in a crash
when my mom had a tucson it would show the media screen in reverse and the backup camera feed in drive 💀
Hyundai moment
real
she never fixed it either, nor did the dealer mention it at all in the times it went in for new engines
My cousin in law works on Hyundais and he cannot recommend staying away from them enough
The only reason they sell any is because they offer some pretty kick-ass warranties
i used to work on them and ive been very aggresively telling people to stay away from them
My dad's truck came with a warranty that Hyundai would have offered
what 160k miles + free piston ring replacement?
It is a lifetime drivetrain warranty that dictated that any repair that didn't eclipse the value of the vehicle would be covered
dayum
They stopped offering it the year after the year he bought it and it's so costly (for them) that some dealerships won't honor it lol
Fortunately for Chrysler, the engine and transmission combo that he ended up picking is among the most reliable combos Chrysler has ever put in a car
Normally I'm not a V6 person but I will Stan the Pentastar V6 until the end of time and you can't go wrong with a ZF8 transmission
There was an electrical issue a few months back
400$ repair he paid like 30 bucks for
It's at over 200k I think now
I had a 2001 Santa Fe. Abused the piss out of it for 280k miles. Transmission pump failed violently due to crank walk. Other than the dealership causing it to jump time once (no damage) and an alternator that failed due to being completely packed with mud, it gave me no trouble.
Every Hyundai I've been involved with since = turdtastic
Their quality control is what's so bad about them
even the 03 Santa Fe my mom picked up with the exact same drivetrain spec. 4 of 6 rod bearings on that one failed at 149k. Was just bad bearings because all I did was smooth the crank, throw on some King bearings I picked up cheap off ebay, reassembled the rods with ARP bolts because they were cheaper than the dealership wanted for factory shit and it was still alive at 230k AFAIK (got sold at about 200k to a facebook friend)
One Hyundai is so hard to kill you could send it through the sun and it would still crank, the next one would weld its own transmission together if you breathed on the throttle pedal too hard
It's incredible how much of a difference two identical cars could have
I ran through a 2012 Rio and a 2014 Forte pretty quickly. The Forte fully reinforced me not returning to buy another car from Hyundai/Kia. Got a 2017 Camry and its been nothing but reliable for ~160k miles.
most boring ass car ever and has excessive interior rattles, but its reliable
Not sure what your market is but the NA market ones were solid up till 2011
I'm in the US. I honestly didn't like how any of the santa fes I drove after my 01 handled. The rear suspension was entirely different in the 03 and it handled like ass. I was around a couple people that had major early issues with their Hyundai 3.3Ls in other models, so I've avoided those like the plague.
Grab the e-brake in the 01 and it did exactly what it should do. Grab the e-brake in the 03 and it went straight for trying to flip. Same tires and brakes, just different control arms and the body-side structure they attached to.
I will admit the 03 was much quieter from the rear going down the highway. The 03 setup had a lot more rubber + aluminum control arms in the back.
I'm a firm believer that it's only the US built Kia's and Hyundais that have problems
They're considered pretty reliable everywhere else
true and real
So what I'm hearing is that being racist can save you money
Probably true tbh
weight reduction
The 70s is calling
This weight costs me a lot of money
Weight per dollar
Pffffff
Honestly with how built up the reinforcement plate was i probably pulled off a solid 3 pounds of oil
Good $200 - $300 here
If not more
spray some degreaser on it first (if you haven't already cleaned it all off by now)
Mostly, but mine were all K VINs, but its not like I got terrible performance out of mine (well, the forte decided it wanted to consume its transmission at ~107k which was pretty bullshit)
Our family owns a K vin Kia and it's been pretty bulletproof powertrain wise tbf
the problems we had really were minor inconveniences
Had to get the headlights and one of the turn signals replaced, the brake lights were stuck on once, the motor for one of the windows failed (while it was closed thankfully) and had the AC compressor replaced as well
in about 160k kilometers that's not bad I think
that's quite reasonable
My biggest 'factual' reason for trading the Forte for the Toyota was too many direct injection horror stories. The 2.5L I4 in the Camry is port injected.
brake cleaner go brrr
its not all cleaned off cuz i ran outta degreaser
i dont think brake kleen would have done this job tbh
that ammount of sludge probably would have come back as 7/32nds on my tread gauge
thats just an actual fact
all the NA market ones are assembled in texas which that specific plant has had a quality control issue for ages
its not going back on the car anytime soon either so im not worried aout it

im gonna end up buying another car before i fix this one
Average home mechanic
Yall I lowkey want this as a second car lmao
Here's also my car i already drive.
If I were to get a second car I'd want it to be different than the first one in some way
Since I have limited space to store or work on stuff
Average normal mechanic
Need me a proper daily
Honestly would not wanna get caught in the snow in the e46 of i end up going literally anywhere
One of the design briefs for the C4 Corvette was that it had a minimal frontal cross-section, so it was less visible to radar. In other words, it helped you get away with speeding.
Another target was to be the most powerful car sold in America. The 1990 - 1995 Corvette's ZR-1 option package was the most expensive in the history of Detroit, but ...
i got an 04 towncar
true i was just trying to level up sorry
😆
Hey Kate!!!
I have an 07 Grand Marquis LX. You've leveled up on me.
hallo
Hello!! I heard Cali wants to tax miles now..
wouldnt surprise me if they did
government wants money
i say government go get jobs instead of taking mine
If my state did that, everyone finds their odometer and disconnects it
its easier than that
cut the cords to the vehicle speed sensor in the engine bay
you wont be able to see your speed but the mileage wont roll either
you use the rpm gauge and gear to measure speed
Mfw the officer says “how fast were you going”
officer i was going 5000rpm in 3rd gear
idk how fast that is the car that i had to do that with didnt have third
it had 1st, second, and 4th
Man busted gear box lmao
it was an old honda automatic
those things were made of paper
i fixed a window on my e46 today
only one that doesnt work properly now is the driver window
Usual Honda stuff
idk probably
lowkey
Or a quashqui
honda D16 engine
slide a stick of dynamite down the oil fill hole
cuz the D series engines suck
i hate them so much
i agree honestly
one of my buddies has one and even drifting it in the snow it still looks stupid as hell
@silent oak wanna see another abomination? look up the bmw e46 compact
my car but bri'ish and ugly as shet
Yess!
It looks like it was hit in the head
With a car crusher
and the rear looks kinda like a 2003 ford focus

i hate that if it was imported to the U.S someone would unitonically buy it
and probably pay a lot for it
Cut their brake lines
Preach sista!
The car shouldn’t be here, we have civics to ruin
Any Audi fans with knowledge here
I got some problems with the car I tried everything even read it with computer can’t find the problem but car is shaking when stationair but when riding it smooth
Can it be mechatronica?
pretty sure they were all 4 cylinders and or diesels too
so possibly a german equivelent to a civic
4 cylinder boring~
half agree
although i personally prefer i6's
i keep spending all this money on mine
just dropped $300 on 2 rear main seals and all 4 o2 sensors
i know at least 2 of em are bad but im just gonna do all 4
I like v6s v8s
Tired chat Time
Where r u from
funny how the interior BARELY changed from this
All they added was probably the tablet
That's sweet dude, enjoy!
i like v6's and v8's too, just got the preference for inline sixers
working on my 350z and my e46 are 2 different worlds
commit retrofit and add a tablet to an old car
its not bound to the car but it is for the car 😂
My wallet has a preference for inline 4s
my wallet has a preference for bicycles

buying another one of those soon
my i6 gets better gas mileage than my mom's i4
My wallet has a preference to yapping
quite true
Congrats man
Fair enough
This gotta be a gta reference
or someone who really likes flexing that they bought a worse r35

Hiya car chatto
My 4.6L V8 panther gets within 2 mpg of my 2.5L I4 Camry travelling the same highway/speed.
crazy
a worse r35
wharr?
i used to work as a tech for kia, the stinger GT checks every box of being a wannabe r35 aside from the fact that unlike the nissan the stinger an overpriced POS
Everything I've heard about the stinger is bad except for the fact its actually badass.
I know its basically the new trailer trash douche canoe here... Every mf with a Kia budget, Charger credit rating and BMW eyes seems to end up with one.
Crazier than that - GF's old 01 Seville with the northstar and a bad torque converter (no lockup) would get 3 mpg better than that.
northstar is magical though
maybe?
three litre something v6 twin-turbo, AWD, four wheels, a steering wheel, and windows are all i can gather as similarities
its cool on paper, if you can shovel out the extra 15k or so for a used 2010 r35 its not a terrible alt
but the AWD q50 3.0t is still a better cheaper choice
bad torque converters ❤️
gear slipping my beloved
ptsd from my e46 and my TC isnt even bad
Wow, only 49k R35s built in total
I see more Cybertrucks than I do R35s
hell, I've seen more Cybertrucks this year than I've seen R35s in my life...
ahh only ~15k of them came to the US/Canada
Nissan should have made 10x more, priced them around 50-60% of what they were, and actually cornered a market
instead they concentrated on CVTs in shitboxes and 447 credit scores.
and CEOs in violin cases
... and Renault
i'm not sure that's a popular opinion, the stinger is really popular but nobody gives infiniti a damn anymore
granted, you worked on the things, your experience and point of view is different, but from the perspective of people who don't need to service the things, the stinger offers a lot more out of the box than the q50 does and is also not a bloody old nissan with bloody old nissan problems
i'm also not sure why we're cross-shopping a brand-halo sports coupe with a sedan liftback
objectively, they're two different categories that don't make sense to compare
a v6tt and awd don't make these two cars the same cars, not from a purpose, tuning, or maintenance frequency and cost standpoint
if GTA6 has cybertrucks they need to catch fire in the car wash
like, we're looking at a car that is analogous to a downmarket s7 in terms of body style and saying, "damn, you cheaped out on an amg gt 63" - the two cars are inherently uncomparable
yet half of instagram still compares hellcat challengers to rs7's
ones a good 4 door liftbackcar and the other is a 2 door shitbox
but mine is the bad comparrison
uhuh.
instagram? not a particularly strong source of human intelligence, that...
you don't want to compare yourself to instagram, i never knew people could be that stupid until i got the damn thing
Hellcat fans when you bring up power to weight: 😧
I assure you your 700 hp hellcat is not beating that 500 hp civic simply because 700 > 500
In a straight line a hellcat would dog a type r but once you hit some fun tight turns the last thing I would wanna be in is a modern Charger/Challenger
Same, unfortunately 😕 😪
I never seen any Cybertruck (cuz i'm in Europe), and maybe ... 20+ R35
my neighbor has one, it helps 😄
the previous owner of my Z have a R35 today, but he blow the engine ( oil pump critical failure ... )
yep
haha real, he don't go on racetrack with it ... but me yes 😈
But highway missile
R35s are like Unicorns where I’m at
I’ve only seen like 3 or 4 in the past 10 years probably
A Friend have a Real R32 GTR with midnight purple paintjob
Japan import
Another one have a R33
with a bug turbo tune, pink with googly eyes on it, and call it Peppa pig
Must have been pretty expensive to get an aftermarket midnight purple
And a last friend have a R34 but not a R

me and the boy, i have the black Z

The 350z bumper will always look a bit funny
you dont like it ? 🙁
I mean the one with the long ass snout
Ah, it's a 370 Nismo
The early 370z nismo has the same issue but it looks a little better
I meant to type nismo there, my bad king
Idk why I didn't
i've never liked the nismo bodykits
as boring as it is, the regular 350z is the best of them
Yep i'm not a big fan about the Nismo V3 body kit on 350
that long nose, not for me
but on 370 👀
one of my friends
(yeah i have a lot of JDM fan friends 😂 )
I’ve never seen an r32 in the states- sadge
Only legal under show and display clause, not surprising
I want one soo bad tho
I love the r32 front end
If you can pony up the money for one and be able to afford the insurance then go crazy ig
Are they stupid expensive like the r34s
Or like hellcat money
How bout coupe gt?

Most regular insurance companies either wouldn't cover it or impose a higher fee since it was never localized for sale in the US
The 4- door gts are pretty rare here in the us, but overseas they used to produce 4 door gts
Coolest family car imo
Left hand drive haha took a while to get used to it
Japan is right hand drive while all of its neighbors are not
Used to my dominant right hand on the wheel while my left on da shifter
Side note: why is Google AI unsure which side Korea drives on

H u h
They drive on the right, just for clarification
Like the US
Actually I think it's because of the US and Russia that they drive on the right
I know Japan has some 70s challengers
There is an audience of American car enthusiasts in Japan just like there are JDM enthusiasts in the US
I’m one of em, always prefered my American stuff
I can't imagine it's very easy or cheap to own a big V8 muscle car in Japan given how insanely regulated emissions are in Japan
It’s hard and expensive
I'm surprised the car scene in Japan is as big as it is, given the nightmarish conditions for owning modified/older cars Japan enforces
