Not really. The exercises are there for practice. Whatever you feel gets you the most value out of it is what you should go with.
Of course you could just run them all through a translator and read the translations but then you get nothing. Or you could insist on using no external resources and then when you get stuck on a sentence, you have no choice but to ignore it, so you also get nothing from it. Give things a try on your own, and if you get stuck, don't be shy to look for help.
They are written with the intention that you look up things you don't know. You're not expected to guess something you've never seen before or have no memory of.
But of course, like Arrem said, give it a shot without tools/help first, see how far you get.
