Many still have their best friends from childhood, maybe 2-3 people, and only get to know a few people later in life that they would call that.

You always have the events and experiences that have connected you, which then in the end weigh more heavily than different views on certain things.

I think that you can definitely achieve making casual friends in Germany (and almost all countries). It helps to put yourself in situations that help make it more likely.

Like for example, if your city has some meet-ups for language exchange, or some other similar types of events.

I find myself befriending people based on my current circumstances.

For example, I'm at an age where many of my friends are changing a lot and starting families of their own and then have other interests. That is completely normal. But we still all make an effort not to lose sight of each other and keep in touch.

A lot of people on this server also made friends with other people on the server who live in a close area to them. Of course I should add to that: always be careful about meeting random people from online.

Like there may be some small cultural barriers like you described, but overall, Germany is not some totally strange and different culture or anything. They're normal and friendly people who enjoy getting to know others, just like most places.

When I was a student, we regularly went out and partied with our foreign students, which was quite fun to be honest.

And you can also meet many people who are also not born in Germany, who can be great friends.

Yeah expats befriending each other is easier for sure.

Well I am thinking seriously about moving to Germany. I would do fine being an introvert it's my fiancee I think would get mostly affected.

If you're someone who is comfortable speaking to new people then I think you will be fine. I think only really shy or introverted people could struggle, but that's also true for most places.

But like I said, it's important to find situations that encourage meeting people.

I'll be honest with you, people won't always be as open and warm-hearted with each other as you might be used to but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have the chance to meet really nice people who are valuable to you. What is true, of course, is that age also plays a certain role. With increasing age, people become more and more reserved.

Besides, it is a bitter truth that there is racial prejudice aswell...

To a certain extent, you have to be able to deal with it and remember that not everyone is like that, so you don't become unhappy.
