The rules of the server outline the appropriate behavior both on the server and in private messages. They represent guidelines and are to be interpreted using common sense. In case of ambiguity moderators ultimately have the final say and you are expected to act as instructed. We are, however, committed to constantly improving and clarifying the rules, and are always open for criticism or suggestions.

If you need the rules in German language, a translation is available here: https://bit.ly/35UfvTR. In case the two texts diverge, the binding version is always the English one, found below.

  1. Familiarize yourself with Discord’s terms of service and follow them at all times. https://discordapp.com/terms & https://discordapp.com/guidelines

  2. Show respect towards all server members. Do not provoke, harass or disturb others in any way. We are a learning server. Fights, toxicity and drama have no place here.

This is not an exhaustive list, but we explicitly ask you to avoid posting, utilizing, or discussing:

  • war-related content (esp. WWII and any nazi symbolism)
  • significant news events of a distressing nature (e.g., murder, terrorism)
  • self-harm
  • profile pictures and usernames related to the above
  • sensitive or personal information of other people (in particular other users)

The following should be labelled and (if relevant) contained within spoiler tags:

  • content which is not against the rules but may be distressing (jump scares, loud audio, imagery related to common phobias, etc.)
  1. Racist, discriminatory and violent content of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to: messages, profile pictures, links, media, usernames, nicknames and other profile details. Please don't use slurs even in a "joking" or "non-offensive" context. Given that we are a learning server, heated discussions of any kind and excessive discussions of a personal nature are frowned upon.

  2. We do not allow political discussions outside of #1025098221653073940. We expect any heated or potentially offensive discussions which arise from political discussions in those channels to be concluded quickly, preferably with a change of topic.

  3. Do not disrupt ongoing conversations with irrelevant content or disturb the friendly learning atmosphere on the server. Always keep posted content to the most appropriate channels.

  1. Advertising is not allowed without prior staff approval. If you intend to advertise, please speak to a moderator first.
We reserve the right to disallow advertising content that has little to do with learning German or is otherwise deemed inappropriate.

  2. Do not post NSFW material on this server. This includes but is not limited to: posts, images, videos depicting nudity, sexual acts and violence. If you're unsure whether something is NSFW, please ask before posting it. Such content does not belong here and it is also against Discord's code of conduct for partnered servers.

  3. Do not use AI tools like ChatGPT to answer language learning related questions or ask for corrections on texts generated by such tools. When using AI generated texts in a different context, they must be labelled as such.

  4. Never attempt to reverse or avoid the decisions of a moderator. Any punishments will be reinstated and may lead to more severe consequences. This means, for example, if your punishment is to be muted for a week, you will have to start over from zero. If you want to challenge a decision, address the responsible moderator directly or any available moderator if you are unsure.
