both are correct, you just choose between the correct word orders to put more emphasis on a specific part of the sentence. and in some contexts, one option is more natural than the other: if someone asks you for how long you've been learning german, you don't need to repeat german at all: you could simply say "ich lerne [es] seit zwei Monaten", which is why repeating it in the middle sounds a but off. it's perfectly correct tho :)

I just got back from Berlin. The city has a very high proficiency in English, but you will still get German practice if you interact with immigrant communities. A lot of the Döhner places speak Turkish then German. (Or Arabic then German).

The typical native Berliner is perhaps German first and then English second, as long as they are under 40 Years Old or so. Above that age... I noticed more German only speakers.

The older groups are better at talking slowly and carefully to a beginner German speaker, so I was able to do a lot.

I'd say the main issue to look at is that Berliners seem to enjoy practicing their English. If it's someone under 40, they'll switch to English extremely quickly.

I did get a massage after my legs got sore from walking. The Thai massage lady barely could speak English. I switched to German and she was much faster at communicating and asking/responding.

So plenty of opportunities to be forced into German as you explore Berlin, even if most typical people can do English perfectly well.

Even the nearby cities. Potsdam, Dresden etc. A sizeable proportion of people don't speak English or aren't comfortable with it. Although, for customer-service employees that proportion is a lot lower.
